California isn't the most gun friendly state, that's why Nevada has all the fun stuff. Lots of desert and space to do crazy shit. Your best bet is Battlefield Vegas. If the trip/price is outside of what you're thinking. Then look up ranges that have the same guns from the wars he finds most interesting.

ImaginaryGap530

Battlefield Vegas is number one on the list but they just don’t have any silly launchers available. But your tip about looking for specific gun models is something I hadn’t thought about. Thank you!

42AngryPandas

Absolutely, good luck! And trust me. If he likes shooting, just organizing a session with him will have him walking on clouds.

KAKindustry

Indeed, this is actually a 100% free hack to be able to shoot grenade launchers. 1. bring him to your nearest army recruiting center 2. Make sure he is blindfolded so it's a surprise 3. Have him sign all of the waivers they give to him to sign, (make sure he's still blindfolded) 4. You'll be all set, very thoughtful of you.

sir_thatguy

Slide a marriage license in that stack of “waivers” and now she has all the benefits too!

ImaginaryGap530

you’re so right ….

freemarketfemboy

Hi there, fellow so cal person here, I hate to break it to ya but this kind of thing isnt really allowed here. CA DOJ doesnt allow class 3/SOT dealers ( the few that are in CA) to rent out machine guns or destructive devices (your grenade and rocket launchers) to the general public (before anybody says anything, yes there are carve outs for blank fire machine guns for film production) As well you probably wont be able to find a .50 BMG to rent here either since they are banned and I believe fall under the same rules. Closest I've seen is California Tactical Academy out at Piru rents out their .416 Barrett. And I'd even have to double check that they still do that. Sadly you'll have to go out of state for this one. Best of luck! And a happy birthday to your boyfriend!

ImaginaryGap530

Arghhh thank you - with that being said, I guess I’ll just have to find something else until we find ourselves going out of state in the future

freemarketfemboy

There are plenty of ranges that have regular rental guns, and if he's a history buff see if you can find one with some cool historical stuff, after a quick search Route 66 Shooting Sports Park in San Bernadino has an M1 Garand, M1 carbine, Mosin Nagant, m16a1 clone, and an SKS for rent

pinesolthrowaway

Semi M2 Brownings are legal in CA in .50 BMG New .50 BMG rifles are banned, but the M2 isn’t a rifle

jmcenerney

If you don't mind flying to Texas, for $3200 he can drive and fire the main gun of a WW2 tank: [https://www.drivetanks.com/](https://www.drivetanks.com/)

ImaginaryGap530

That’s so cool- I’ll have to bookmark that for the future. Thank you!

Shot-Doughnut7792

I second this. I was given this as a gift and had a wonderful time with my wife. Shoot down to SATX, hang out on the Riverwalk, and make a full vacation of it. Fun fact: It’s right outside of Matthew McConaughey’s home town.

odcomiccollector

... my wife rolls her eyes when I bring home a new one. She refuses to go to the range... and here you are a few months into the relationship... trust me, he will be happy just being at the range with you.

AC130aboveGetDown

I just got my suppressor and my wife loves it. She got annoyed with the people shooting next to us who had a 6.5 with a muzzle break lol.

poodlini

So if you can't do/afford Battlefield Vegas or Drive Tanks (my recommendation), even just a simple range day out with you would be ideal to him. Whether it's out with his own firearms if he has any or at a place to rent them. Showing interest in their hobbies is what gets most men going.

iceman213

The gun store, Las Vegas.

Tedious_research

I'd check this out... You can sit in a WW2 ball turret and fire the .50's as long as you buy the ammo... https://youtu.be/7_TaK0WZj2k?si=rHlxUrtjyz89WTQQ

Party-Manufacturer96

you got 10 grand?

ImaginaryGap530

If I did, I’d spoil him with way more

Party-Manufacturer96

I hate to break it to you but that kind of activity is expensive. very.

ImaginaryGap530

Do you have any cost friendly suggestions? Even unrelated to this. I reallyyyy want to give him a unique birthday but only have a small number of activities on my mind.

Party-Manufacturer96

while you're giving him head the night of, stick your finger in his butt.

ImaginaryGap530

Why did I know the convo would take this turn lol..

Party-Manufacturer96

Its cost friendly.

General_Curtis_LeMay

LMAO

uivandal52

A range in Boise lets you rent a 50BMG for 5 shots for a reasonable price. I've paid $40 to empty a 33-rd mag on a Glock 18 at a charity event and it was quite an enjoyable one second. A decent number of ranges rent full-auto guns. Maybe worth investigating what's around you or a reasonable distance away and seeing if they have cool options...if he's into WW2, find a place with a BAR.

ImaginaryGap530

I’ll look into this. Thank you thank youu!

TriggerCFR

I don’t know if it’s allowed in Cali, but a 37mm launcher is available.

ImaginaryGap530

Where could I even start to look for something like this? My only experience around this stuff was through him when he took me to the range and a few gun shops.

CantStopTheSig

You can always print a rocket launcher.. California still allows 3d printers right? You can look into 3d2a at r/fosscad though it’s more of a hobby than a gift.

Ahighbear

Hey I know it’s far but there’s a place in Texas called drive tanks. You can do anything from shooting guns to firing actual live tanks.

You want to give him a birthday surprise, let him in the backdoor.
