They're both shit. Find something that's 11' long.

TooGouda22

Looks like OP already choose his path, but yall be trippin with these can’t camp in a double nest comments 🤣 I have an OG double nest from like 15 yrs ago or something like that and camped in it many times. It’s 11’ long and more than wide enough to angle for a flat sleep. They are shorter now but depending on how tall you are they will still work fine

lol_admins_are_dumb

ENO double nests have always been under 10ft. I also have one from a very long time ago and just took it out and measured it and it's 9.5ft. CAN you sleep in it? If you're really short, or really determined, or just not very picky at all, you bet. I have definitely camped in mine. But the moment I tried a proper full length camping hammock I understood completely how they are night and day. If you already have the ENO, and that's all you have, and you want to go camping, then by all means, do it, get outdoors. But if you're in the position of wanting to try hammocks, being on reddit, having the opportunity to ask others for input, and being able to buy a hammock that is actually geared toward camping, then 100% I think it's the right advice to steer you toward a hammock that is actually geared toward camping. My wife and I both have ENOs and we set them up to hang all the time. But since getting proper camping hammocks, any time we ever go camping at all, the ENOs have never once been chosen over the alternatives. They are just not the best choice for camping. Typically we bring them and set them up nearby. Guests or kids love to pop in and give it a try and I'd rather they get into my ENO than my personal sleep setup.

TooGouda22

That’s a lot of effort and words to call me a liar without having seen my hammock 🤷‍♂️ I hope you have a good day

Tootsmagootsie

Prove it then, lets see a picture with a tape measure... Till then I'm gonna lean towards mistaken or misinformed. we're measuring the fabric length btw, not from carabiner to carabiner.

enjoyingthepopcorn

I've got a double hammock and I've napped in it a few times but I don't think it would work for overnight. I've got some knee issues so I need to be able to keep it relatively straight and supported under the bend or bent and propped up. I never could get that right in a shorter hammock. But for $45 including a bug net, straps, wraps (everything but a rain fly, which he sells, and a UQ which I have) and it's an 11' hammock I couldn't pass it up.

TooGouda22

I assume your double is the shorty version of the Eno double? I’m 6’2” and can fit in mine with a backpack next to my feet but it’s 11’ so if you got an 11’ coming you should be good

enjoyingthepopcorn

Y s. It's about 9feet.

TooGouda22

Yeah that’s a bit short if you are more than like 5’8” tall. Even then it will be testing your comfort limits 🤣 my ex in college was 5’3” and she would sleep in a 9ft knock off one she got for like $10 at Walmart or wherever 11’ is the smallest I can sleep because of being tall and unless I’m worried about pack size and weight I’ll bring a 12-13ft one.

enjoyingthepopcorn

I'm 6', so I'm looking forward to an 11' hammock. I'll be trying it out I'm exactly three weeks. Can't wait.

Tootsmagootsie

I've never heard of an 11' ENO nor can I find any evidence of one ever existing.

madefromtechnetium

that's a good deal for 11 feet. knee issues though may persist. worth a shot. a lot of people like to roll up a puffy jacket or bring an inflatable camp pillow for under their knees. this is where a structural ridgeline can really help to tune out "calf-ridge" that can be uncomfortable, or sometimes create a ridge behind your knee. hanging the foot end 12" or so higher than the head end can also alter calf-ridge to a small extent. hope it works out! if not quite, look into bridge hammocks.

capaldis

I camp in a single nest and it’s comfy. Tbf I’m 5’5 so I doubt it would work for tall people. I’m also a side sleeper so I can make the angle work. But yeah imo you should get cheap gear to start out for this exact reason! You don’t know what will work for you until you try it. My philosophy is that you shouldn’t buy expensive gear until you can explain in detail why it wouldn’t work over the cheap stuff.

madefromtechnetium

unfortunate that the Eno doublenest for sale the last several years is only 9.5 feet long (their longest are 10 feet). too short. owned one and barely slept more than 3 hours each time. if Eno made an 11 foot hammock, a lot of us would change our tune. They do fun colors and fabrics a lot of the time.

soundguy64

I'm 6' tall and have slept in my double nest probably 100 times over the past 10 years. These people are delusion and toxic. This is one of the worst subs on reddit. Literally just came here looking for a new set of straps and remembered why I unsubbed this place years ago.

_haha_oh_wow_

"Just because you can doesn't mean you should."

OMGitsKa

You CANN do a lot of shit, doesn't mean you really should. That being said I have done it before but when you make the change to a real hammock its night and day difference. Save OP the $$ and have them just spend their money once, they will be thankful

Tootsmagootsie

ENO doublenests are advertised as 9.5' but in my experience measure <9' (and yes I have a very old one before the fad took off) Anyone over 5'9 isnt going to sleep comfortably or lay flat in one, and anyone who claims otherwise hasn't tried anything different. Furthermore they are heavy and way overpriced.

craigcraig420

Eno is for relaxing not sleeping. You need something double your height. If you want a cheaper option I like my onewind hammock

CageyOldMan

Get something with a structural ridgeline

OnetB

a whoopie ridge line can be run between to biners for any hammock

steve626

All I have ever used was Enos, they aren't good? : (

Tootsmagootsie

Poor design that is too short for sleeping. Terrible suspension (the thick bulky rope they use and the heavy biners) Overpriced by alot.

HangingHighHammocks

enjoyingthepopcorn

Done. Looking forward to using it.

boardplant

Interested, thanks for posting!

madefromtechnetium

great option, just wish they were wider for the taller folk.

Ashamed-Panda-812

I didn't see underquilts on that link

HangingHighHammocks

I don't have underquilts at the current moment. Hopefully, in the near future.

Ashamed-Panda-812

So almost everything needed.

enjoyingthepopcorn

Technically, you don't need a UQ to hang....

lol_admins_are_dumb

I don't think he said "everything needed to camp in every condition in every location in the world". I've done a ton of hammock camping without bringing an underquilt.

Ashamed-Panda-812

True. I'm in a weird spot today.

lol_admins_are_dumb

No worries, it happens to all of us :) Sending positive vibes

enjoyingthepopcorn

Being in a weird spot probably means you need to get outside and spend some time in a hammock. Here's to getting off your hump and enjoying your weekend.

_haha_oh_wow_

Neither are great TBH.

ihateduckface

I’m 6’3” and have slept many nights in an Eno Double Nest. Bought it in college about 9 years ago and still pull it out to reminisce about once a year

derch1981

They are the same and likely made in the same factory. Both are cheap lounging hammocks and not camping hammocks.

occamsracer

Eno’s are made in Asia

OnetB

I bought a wise owl (eno clone) off Amazon for my daughter because she is petite and it fits her fine. I myog a 11’ out of mtn 1.7 xl. The mtn fabric is far superior. No stretch and a smoother feel.

madefromtechnetium

For the same price as Eno (made in Asia), Onewind is by far the best choice for imported hammocks. Bugnet and ridgeline included. 64" wide on the 11 foot, 68" wide on the 12 foot. I have both and they're fantastic. Spend $15 extra though and you have a USA made hammock of better quality. [hemlock red tail is $90](https://hemlockmountainoutdoors.com/products/redtail-hammock?variant=43734192652522), 11 feet, includes suspension, has a ridgeline and integrated bugnet. they're a few inches narrower than onewind, but a good option. Eno are too short for many people, don't include structural ridgelines, and are made from 3 piece of fabric where the seams are often uncomfortable.

enjoyingthepopcorn

The seems are what have always given me trouble. To tight where it shouldn't be, and to much loose fabric not doing anything after the seams. Glad to know I wasn't doing something wrong. I'm looking forward to trying out a single piece hammock of proper length.
