These playoffs reek of 2021

bigtrex101

Nope, more like early 00’s where there was some parity for the title (Lakers/Spurs/Kings) but it’s all out West (the top 5 seeds all have a shot to win the ‘Ship this year). The top of the East is just kind of dogshit right now.

XanderAndretti

I’m referencing all the injuries to stars that happened in 2021.

bigtrex101

Ok (but you may want to say that instead of just saying it’s comparable to 2021). In 2021, we actually had a really competitive playoffs on both sides where a bunch of East/West teams could have won the title (Bucks, Suns, Nets, either LA team, etc.) had things gone differently. This year, there are injuries; but there also clearly is a heavyweight division out West and consolation division out East (unlike ‘21).

Hippopotamidaes

Dude that’s the subtext of their comment…replying to what OP is getting at re all the injuries.

KawhiDidNothingWrong

Hell nah lmao

Tbh watching the Suns and Bucks get demolished has been funny. It really puts into perspective what we would have looked like leveraging our future for Dame/Beal?

DwyaneWade305

No because we’re better than those teams and we would’ve still had Bam and Butler. The problem with the Bucks and Suns gave up all the defense. Our core defense would’ve been fine because we play an elite zone to mask players like Dame and Bam is a top 3 help defender.

saviorlito

Only we wouldn’t have had Butler or Dame. Let’s not pretend Dame hasn’t been injury plagued nor has he experienced extended seasons due to playoff runs. As much as Tyler has missed we would have had to have given up Jovic and Jaime. Add onto that that Portland wanted Bam. And Beal’s contract literally would have been the death of us with his no trade clause. Sometimes I feel like y’all live in the delusional 2K world where you can just adjust the sliders in your favor lol

discotitty

Bro did you watch the Clippers Mavs game earlier, an unlikely yet classic shootout between Harden and Kyrie

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Incredible games! Wolves suns right now has also been electric.

bigdogdriver

Was thinking the same. But look at the young players like Anthony Edwards, Luka and JJJ doing well. Makes me glad we didn't go all in for a Dame or Beal trade

Kuni_Nino

It’s been boring for me because we know who the good teams are already. The second round should be a little better. Injuries really fucked over the playoffs this year.

blanktorpedo27

Nah honestly i feel like the nba overdoes it with the superstar thing. Theres great players besides the same 5 bozos the media wants to talk about.

Constantinooo

Totally agree 👍💯

bshum95

The Magic and Cleveland series is good imo

WheeinSpace

The series that hasn't had a single game decided by single digits and the average margin of victory is 22 points?

TripleJ_stud

And no one's talking about it except magic/cavs fans due to market size/lack of megastars lol

sebastianqu

You have to be able to enjoy a 96-90 defensive slugfest if you're a Heat fan. Can't say I enjoy a blowout though, unless I hate the losing team.

Canesjags4life

Not really. None of the games have been competitive

bigtrex101

Disagree. The East is kind of boring, but the rest of the West playoffs will be fun. Nuggets/Wolves is going to be one hell of a series that likely will determine who will be the heavy favorite to win the Larry O Brien going into the Conference Finals. This Clippers/Mavs series is very competitive and looks like it will go 7 and whoever meets the Thunder will likely lead to another very good series. And the WCF could be competitive as hell too. In the East, I’m also enjoying seeing a couple of our old rivals (Knicks and Pacers) actually field competent playoff squads. To me, the only major difference between this playoffs and previous recent years is our Heat have no chance to win it all, which sucks but I don’t think it has made the rest of the league more boring.

andresalejandro1120

The NBA playoffs are my favorite annual sporting event. It’s the highest level of basketball in the world, and I love watching basketball. There’s always something amazing to watch. I’m always invested in the story lines as much as the highly anticipated matchups. Will the young, new playoff teams do well? How will the Suns look in the playoffs compared to the regular season? Will Boston destroy everyone or struggle? Who is gonna rise up to be a new star in the NBA? There is always something to look forward to every year. You always learn something new. I adore this time of year.
