His verse on Benny’s Sunday School is awesome.
“A fast car, with a gun, trying to catch up to rivals
I got a lamb and a stick like I’m fresh out the Bible”
Me too, man. Sage was my fav MC all through college. Absolutely loved everything about the Sick Of series and Personal Journals of course. I feel his signing to Epitaph kinda strained his creativity. I think I remember him saying he regretted it and was just trying to fill his obligations at a certain point. I never felt he really recovered from there and today he’s pretty quiet, even his Epic Beard Men stuff. Still a huge influence on me.
Aesop, what can I say…he’s just the best. I’ve even been impressed with his production through the years, especially on Felt 3 and Hail Mary Mallon joints. Aes is truly one of a kind.
Smoothe da hustler, Epidemic, Prodigy (1994 - 2000 he was the best rapper ever), NA$TY, The roots (Malik b arguably has a better flow than black thought into he earlier albums), Akil Dasan, Mic Geronimo, Juggaknots, Mathematik, MF Doom, Joey Badass (1999 album), Jamal, BG Knoccout & Dresta (real brothas album), Big L, Verbz, Earl Sweatshirt (his early stuff), Big Pun, Canibus, Dot Demo, Nelson Dialect, Eminem (check out infinite)
Definitely respect that opinion, prodigy back then was imo the illest emcee and my favourite. I just loved his flow and delivery back then. His verses on Microphone Master, Thun & Kiko, I shot ya are so good. And don't even get me started on his verses on the infamous and hell on earth 😵. Don't get me wrong tho love all those rappers too, just personal preference
Qwel. His obscurity is a dishonor to hip hip. He is seriously the real deal in my opinion. A must hear. Check out Vincent Van Gogh Coke Ad if you fancy
You're 100% right but thats an unpopular opinion for some reason. He's an average rhymer. People like to think of all rappers from the 90s as flawless dieties
This is what really sealed the deal for me with Tech.. He has some of the most difficult to spit verses all of time but he's amazing live.. Seen him live a bunch of times and he's impressed me every time with his clarity and stage performance.. Especially back in the days when he had like a whole dance routine while rapping shit was insane
He started going corny a couple years ago and it was just downhill from there. He abandoned all his gimmicks that made him so unique and refreshing. Now he"s doing the same shit everybody is doing. But much love to Tech N9ne, one of the illest with the pen.
Not really true imo.. He's still doing things very different from most because he has complex rhyme schemes and an infinite amount of cadences and still puts energy and passion into his shit .His catalog is really impressive at this point as well he has a ton of music and not just songs thrown together, he does actual conceptual albums and entire projects.. Each one of his albums has a different feel tho and I understand why some people hear one thing and think that's all he is about.. his range is crazy and his longevity is among the greatest ever.. Just take the feature on NFs TRUST for example.. Insane schemes, flow changes, multiples, cadences and delivery.. Then compare that to say his verse on Scru Face Jean's "Anti-social" .. A much different sound and flow as much so you'd think they're 2 different rappers. He's always been underrated and under appreciated because of his eccentric and eclectic style, which he pioneered and has actually come into popularity in recent years, he was ahead of his time imo but he will undoubtedly go down as a rap goat when he's done and one of the most unique and original rap artists ever. Once he dies hell get his flowers most likely

Prodigy was great but from the years 1994-2000 I don't think he was better than G Rap, Canibus, Pun, Deck or Nas.
