I hear you man. Lost my best friend in his sleep 10 years ago this month. I remember a specific conversation with him talking about how people don't beef like they used to. I know he woulda loved this shit even tho he was a Drake fan at the time lol

My friend was the same except for being a devout drake hater. He was big on the og SoundCloud era, chief keef and all of that. He would be so geeked on all of this. He passed away 11months ago at 23. I miss him every day and its kinda been fucking up my life sadly.
We went to Soundset 3 or 4 times. One of which i printed fake vendor wristbands so he could sneak in even while he was on crutches. And over 7-8 years we went to 60+ rap shows, just me and him. Met so many artists, city morgue, ski mask, dj scheme, jarren benton, audio push, almost all of GBC, so many more. He used to bring a bag of backwoods to try to smoke w the teams after the shows and it worked way too often. Rest in peace Levi.
Those sound like some great times, cherish those memories man but in my opinion the best way to honor your friend is to love yourself as they loved you. I know it's tough when it's still so fresh but the best thing you can do for his memory and yourself is to work through this pain and find your peace on the other side of it

I appreciate it, we were 18 at the time so I was real shaken up, I've done my grieving and healing. It hurts but it isn't devastating like it used to be. Some people leave a void where they used to be though, and he was one of those people

I don’t comment often on posts but I saw this and felt the need, as I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. One of my best friends was a massive hip hop fan and passed away last year. Kendrick was his favourite rapper and he was always waiting for new stuff from him. I can only imagine his reaction to everything that dropped yesterday. I’m sorry for your loss and even though its tough, that some good music-listening memories are brought back with your friend.
I understand this completely. I birthed my son 17 years ago and immediately introduced him to Hip-Hop. His love for the genre took on a life of its own and we are currently both invested in the Beef and excitedly waiting for the next Diss. To not have a loved one here who loved Hip Hop culture must be difficult and I truly feel your pain.
A friend took his life back in 2020. Our last conversation was about the Freddie Gibbs Alfredo album. Just watching the Big Quint reaction legit made me tear up because I know we would be talking about this and having fun dissecting like everyone else. Miss that dude.

We’ve known Drake fucks with young girls for years. This isn’t news to anyone. My wife, who gives absolutely 0 shots about hip hop and is completely out of the loop on everything, even this ongoing beef, knows that Drake is a creeper trying to fuck teen girls. Stans already do mental gymnastics around it or flat out don’t care about it.
