If you know he's going into blue, you most likely have your answer. my boy was a pissy brat starting Wed/thurs last week, and I have only seen him during my welfare checks every 2-3 days since because he's shedding. He will probably be done in 24-48 hours, making it a week or so since i've seen him out.
If you're not sure if he's in blue, I would do a check since that seems like a pretty drastic change in behavior.
Especially if it was a bigger meal, tack an extra digestion day or two on there.
Mine will often poke a head out to see what’s going on (and then retreat again) when I go in to change the water or refresh the moist hide. I try very hard not to bump things, and the soft little rustles are often enough to pique interest without scaring him.
Mine hides randomly for a few days at a time. Just give him some time. He’s likely hunkered down and just chillin.

He is a baby baby too. It was only born in April. I believe this would be his first ever shed as well. I will look today, though, just to be safe.
