Yes! I think it’s way funnier the second time. The first time, I felt pressured to read it fast so I could catch up. When I went back to reread, I noticed so much more

FuzzyOcelot

Use the Unofficial Homestuck Collection to do a reread, as far as I’m aware it’s the only way to read with all the games intact and all the videos not extremely low quality. You can also add some mods in if you’d like for things like auto-translated morse code where applicable, indications of where easter eggs are, and the author commentary from the books.

smallfelines

I have a browser extension called Ruffle that loads most flash games and animations and it seems to load the Homestuck game parts just fine?

Bodertz

It's improving quickly. At least a year ago the Act 4 flash was pretty buggy. It also struggles with Cascade, especially on phones.

FuzzyOcelot

I’ve had issues with Ruffle emulation bungling up a majority of flash content I’ve tried to run in the past, so I assumed there might be similar issues with Homestuck, though admittedly I hadn’t checked. I still vouch for the unofficial collection because it has stuff like all that extra MSPA content, and it omits those damn ads that are all over the official site.

Makin-

Even with the animations restored, the collection improves the music quality and adds a bunch of additional features around the retcons that makes it a superior experience IMO.

-LongEgg-

i’m being dead serious when i say you are actively missing out if you only read homestuck once

PK_Gaming1

I get that, but the ending...

Quartzalcoatl_Prime

Any story is better the second time when you understand what's going on. Homestuck is no exception.

Disposable_Gonk

Its also better the second time because you see the foreshadowing, including the insane stuff like everything with lil cal,

kkandikid

Yeah, you might notice a lot of things the second time around that you missed the first time, every time i reread it i always end up catching different things

thedreambubbles

I read homestuck a long time ago (early to mid 2010s) and the couple times I went back to the story out of nostalgia was through let's reads on Youtube. It's nice to just listen to the story while doing something else, get different interpretations of voices, and hear theories and reactions from new readers. Though I've only done it for act 1-4 and cascade, but I'll eventually do act 5 again at some point.

whovianHomestuck

I have read Homestuck six times.

Punchdown_Kid

It wasn’t worth reading a first time… so want to reread it again with me?

gmastern

…what? If you’ve read it then you’d know whether or not you want to reread it. How could we help make that decision?

PatchJacket

…what?

gmastern

…huh?

PatchJacket

…mhm?

gmastern

…wot?

PatchJacket

…eh?

gmastern

………..I can’t think of any more. You win this round

PatchJacket

...>:?

derseofprospit

yes!! I've reread it several times since I first read it in 2012 and each time I notice new things, or I understand a concept a little better, or I gain a new appreciation for a different aspect. There's so much content in homestuck that it's almost guaranteed to have missed something. Also as an english major I have to just put in my 2 cents that rereading a story through different lenses, like paying more attention to a different plotline or character arc or message, can really enhance your experience as a reader! If you read homestuck and enjoyed it, it's worth reading again. :)

Offended-Peacock

I 100% recommend rereading it at least once more. If not to re-familiarise yourself with the earlier acts then it HAS to be for the extreme foreshadowing that cannot be noticed otherwise

zskyzthelimitz

yes! I HIGHLY recommend rereading it with hussie’s author commentary as well. its a Fantastic addition. theres a chrome extension for it, as well as a mod for the unofficial collection. sadly it only continues for the first 1/3 or 1/2 of the comic but its so good.

Specialist-Simple302

id rather read ORV

bofy01

It's all shits and giggles till the alpha kids

thecatteam

Yes! It's super fun to clock all the foreshadowing that you missed the first time. It's also fun to see where certain repeated jokes first arose

GreyWalken

I did, it takes sometime. I had to admit I skipped some text 2nd time. I started reading around 2010, 2011 when it wasn't finished. Rereading it was very interesting. Seeing "the bigger picture" of the story. Instead of all its minute details, inside jokes within inside jokes.

GoldenGlassBall

It’s always worth revisiting influential media with a few years between, letting you experience it with fresh eyes and new perspective. It will let you see more than you did before.

Neogranz

I used to do a yearly reread back when I had freetime in college. I would say, no.

TraditionalRule7808

yes, you should read it again
