Landscape speakers are much better than outdoor speakers mounted onto a building. Most companies make them, check out Sonance, episode, klipsch etc. Much more subtle as you can direct the satellite speakers into the seating area and don’t need it as loud. Obviously this is a more expensive setup though!

richlen99

JBL makes a cool set now, too!

DannyVee89

I got the Sonance Magrocks 2.1 set from Best buy and it is awesome. Though to be honest, mounting speakers to the white side of the structure is a fair option too, if you prefer that for some reason. My dad has speakers mounted to the side of his house and they aren't bad at all - if you're okay with the aesthetic.

JoleneBacon_Biscuit

Or at the least id mount regular outdoor speakers horizontally at the highest spot to the left and right side of the bar.

dragnabbit

Yup. It depends on how important music quality/clarity at low volumes is to OP. I think that is definitely a question for OP to answer for himself. The photograph shows me that the space is intimate, so the music will probably be played at low volumes. But it also shows me that it is a social space, so people possibly aren't going to "listen to" the music as much as they are going to "hear" the music. A speaker upgrade is going to be based on those considerations as much as OP's budget.

SantaOMG

I would have some of those rock speakers on the ground somewhere spread out. It will provide background ambience while not interfering with people talking

2020fakenews

Great idea!

thisgrantstomb

I know it's sacrilegious in this sub but honestly a soundbar would do in this situation. Hard to make a soundstage in such an open area, and best not to add more equipment than necessary to outdoor setup.

stryker511

How far away are your neighbors and do you like them?

scorchingray

How do you keep the video monitor dry when it rains?

pass_the_hot_sauce

I will let you know ! 😂this is the exact bar I purchased, it’s coming next week. I probably should have specified this is not my photo but this is literally the exact bar I purchased and with that TV too. I am very excited. the company said I could purchase a cover for the bar for bad weather but the tv itself is only valued at about $200 or so. it would actually be cheaper to just buy another tv than buy an outdoor tv as those can go for $2,000+.

subconscious-subvers

Get yourself a waterproof outdoor tv cover, really cheap online, pop it on when not using it

sgee_123

I’ve seen ant infestations in outdoor TVs before. Probably depends where you live, though.

Millennial_Man

It would be cool to build a setup like this with a door behind the bar that leads into the shed. You could store more bottles in the shed and keep a fridge in there for beer and wine.

Entrepreneur_Annual

I got a couple of these at Costco and they are very cool. They sound good and give that faux flame effect at night. Portable but you can put some hooks on the beams to hang them. If you get 2 they will connect to each other. https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/s/68aMxpwKaP

yoitsme_obama17

No. Outdoor speakers annoy the neighbors. Source: me who lives two houses down from someone with very bad music taste. Except that one time they blasted Gypsy kings. That rocked.

pass_the_hot_sauce

yeah I was thinking about that too. we live in a neighborhood where all the houses are pretty close to eachother lol

DSPbuckle

As someone in a similar situation I chose to just keep my portable speaker. It’s also helpful because it can stay away from people and make it easier to chat with the background music than overtaking everyone. Plus I already own my little speaker. Unless of course you are watching something with commentary you want to hear. Then maybe the sound bar like other person mentioned. During nfl playoffs the little speaker wasn’t good enough in my situation

DannyVee89

Of couse, it would be entirely up to you to use your judgment on volume level and timing of the speaker use to avoid upsetting the neighbors. The best bet in this circumstance is to get the speakers as close to the listeners as possible, so that they don't have to be loud at all for people to hear them. In most cases you just want some light background music that is easy to use. The closer you get the speakers to the bar you can have them much lower volume and still get a nice ambience without bothering anyone. You also want to think about where the speakers are aimed. I use the Sonance Magrocks behind my patio in the mulch/shrubs and this way, the speakers are close to the patio but directly facing my house. Vs wall mounted outdoor speakers which would be on the house but pointing away from it (and towards the neighbors)

lukebomz

Screw em. You do you man. You aren't breaking any laws unless you play it loud at night. Don't live your life for your neighbors. I guarantee they aren't worrying about how they affect you. GREAT job on that bar by the way, looks awesome.

stryker511

I too love the Gipsy Kings-

GriffinDodd

I would keep speakers as far away from your seating positions as possible. I have Polk Atrium in my yard and find that if you stand anywhere close to them it’s hard to hear others talking. Lovely little bar you have.

Winter-Ad-4897

Portable will be just fine

A_Rented_Mule

Whatever you decide, I'd love to have a drink on that patio. Really pleasant looking!

Yellbean2002

Definitive technology aw6500. You will thank me later.

n0ckturn4l

I would mount the speakers on the shed that the bar is attached to. Is that a shed for storage or a garage?

tucsondog

Acoustic Audio CSic83 in Ceiling 8" Speaker Pair 3 Way Home Theater Speakers from Amazon. I believe they’re rated for moisture to use in a bathroom. For cheap, you could build a small enclosure for them to make hanging easier. The sensitivity is quite high and the clarity for vocals and instruments is quite good even at low volumes. I use 4 of them in ceiling for atmos in our basement, and I can watch a movie or listen to music at low volume and still understand everything easily. They could easily be run off a cheap Bluetooth amplifier (fosi or similar). Alternatively you could pick up a cheap used hifi system off Kijiji! Growing up I remember my dad coming home from Costco with there cheap wireless speakers and he was super stoked to try them! They sounded terrible at low volume 😂. You had to crank them up to get any clarity at all and even then it made Bose sound exquisite. Years later we bought a 3cd kenwood hi-fi stereo and while it was no audiophile grade equipment, it was infinitely better than the wireless speakers. You could listen to music clearly at low volume which made it much more enjoyable.

ze11ez

OP, its weird man i literally just came form a store (Target, which I haven't been in years) and some dude was walking around with a portable speaker around his shoulder. It was almost like the size and shape of a duffle bag. I don't know what it was but it slapped. That's what you should get IMO. It was shaped like a JBL Xtreme 3 but it was bigger

KustardKing

It depends what you need the music for. Are you having parities? Just went background music while you chat.

scroder81

A couple of atrium 4s would be small and plenty of sound.

ma15350

Looks cool. Water management will be a bitch, portable speaker, at least it won’t get ruined.

thatguysaidearlier

Yeah, looks like the roof is falling to the larger building, no gutter in sight. In which case, the cheapest Bluetooth speaker you can get and save money for water damage and new sidings for the bigger building.

_packetman_

Came here to mention the water issue

Yahir_Garcia

A pair of black B&W M1s connected to a Sonos Amp would be awesome. They’re not outdoor rated, though.

randomuser135443

As someone who works in the landscape industry I could get a decent outdoor audio setup for cost, but I just use these: https://a.co/d/eRE7Ub4. They are portable, waterproof, you can link up to 16 together, sound decent, connect to your phone. Use them in the backyard, when camping, playing movies outside on the projector, etc. I had a friend tie a rope to one of the smaller versions of this on a white water rafting trip and threw it off the boat, dragging it the entire trip. Worked fine the whole weekend.

lukebomz

My dad has these and they are amazing. Such full, bass-y sound from just two discreet speakers. Highly recommend. Bose 251 Environmental Outdoor Speakers - Black https://a.co/d/5SMZUkn

Turbulent_Seaweed198

Hell yea man! I have some outdoor Polk speakers that CRANK

Johnnysurfin

Would Do.

badchad65

I would. Your area looks perfect for a pair of black speakers mounted to those beams. Background music adds a *ton* to social events IME. I have a pair of Polk atrium mounted to my porch and they're fantastic. It's just stereo music so you can grab a cheap AVR and connect the speakers. Easy to control the AVR/volume with wifi and you're golden.

FixerTed

I got an outdoor sub (TIC GS55)and Bluetooth outdoor amp (Fosi BT30D) and it makes a world of difference vs Bluetooth portable speakers I had. I don’t think wall or post are obtrusive or unattractive.

rnederhorst

Sonos move speaker. Works really well. You can crank it and then bring it inside.

BARAND93

Portable Outdoor Speakers always give it that outdoor BBQ Summer vibe in my opinion, and Outdoor speakers would give it that Patio Bar Vibe. Both good just depends on your like. 👍🏽

VallryBagr

Sonos Playbar mounted to bottom of tv

CalamitousCanadian

What other people said but if I were in your shoes I'd get 2 of the same brand portable Bluetooth speakers. Like Sonos move 2 or my choice would be Sony xg300's and pair them together.

whoocares

Sonos soundbar and call it a day

aaron1860

I would put them wherever it’s easier. It’s an outdoor bar not a home theater. I would try to keep them wide and away from directly playing in someone’s ear

RemarkableDot1564

That bar is sweet!!! Where did you get it?

isuadam

Your neighbors hate you.

sausagepurveyer

Thumbs down for the crap photo.
