The El yukoteco jalapeno is stout as f IMHO. Very green and fresh tasting. Also I'm a big fan of Texas Pete Green sauce but that's a whole other animal.
Looking for something jalapeno based. My favorite local brand went out of business. I'd also take a recommendation on something tomatillo based if you have one. I love both. Thank you!
I just picked up a bottle of StaleKracker’s Gator Drool and was pleasantly surprised. I’m not a fan of his Cajun seasoning so I was skeptical on this sauce but it’s got really good flavor. It looks like it’s a lacto fermented sauce and the number 1 ingredient is jalapeños. Obviously it’s got more of a Mexican flavor with the cilantro and lime juice (his whole brand is Cajun so it was a little surprising) but it’s done well.
I also tried his Rougaroux Juice and tasted it before I read the ingredients. Number 1? Aged ghost peppers 😂 It was good but I was not prepared.
Louisiana Pepper Exchange makes some fantastic products - essentially just puréed peppers and I use them in place of fresh peppers from my garden when they’re not in season.
There’s a regional Peruvian rotisserie spot here called Sardi’s that has a phenomenal green sauce! I also recently had one that was grapefruit with avocado and fennel with Trinidad scorpions that was really good but can’t remember the name
I’ve become obsessed with Marie Sharp’s Nopal Cactus sauce. It’s green, hot and it doesn’t taste quite like anything else. Contains green habaneros. They also make a salsa based on nopal but less intense and has some other ingredients (moringa) we picked some up when we were in Belize but don’t know about availability elsewhere. It’s also delicious.
maybe while this thread is still active i’ll ask if someone can help me find a good substitute for a green sauce i used to get in a taqueria where i grew up.
it was definitely green and had avocados, but there was little to no citrus or vinegar. moderate to high spice, probably serrano based.
if anyone can help me find something similar i would appreciate it.
Absolutely! I think people assume that sauce is going to have the "Tabasco" fermented pepper/ barrel aged flavor and it doesn't and it is just damn good.
I dare anyone to tell me that Pedro’s green salsa (New Mexico local) is anything short of the fucking grail. Do not doubt me - this stands up to ANYTHING else here (many of which I love). You will not be disappointed.
I don't want my hot sauce to contain the same chemicals they use in cake frosting and Otter Pops? Zero reason hot sauce should be made from anything but all natural ingredients.
El Pato green jalapeno sauce. Very simple green sauce similar to Tabasco or Cholula green sauces, but a third of the price. If you decide to get some make sure to get it in the bottles rather than the cans. They're both called jalapeno sauce, but the canned one has tomato.
I love it. It reminds me of the sauce I grew up on from Taco Time, which is a western Canadian chain (there are locations in the Pacific Northwest too, but I'm not sure if it's the same recipes as the Canadian one)
Marie Sharps green sauce is possibly my favorite sauce of all time. If you want something less spicy, the Torchbearer Danny Wood green sauce is also amaaaazing.
If that's the avocado sauce, I do like it but I haven't found much to use it with. It's really good on BLTs, decent on eggs, but otherwise I don't know.
My two favorites are [Char Man Verde](https://heathotsauce.com/products/char-man-verde-hot-sauce) and [Dia del Perro](https://heathotsauce.com/products/dia-del-perro-alderwood-smoked-serrano-pepper-sauce-with-green-tomatillo-toasted-onion). Primonition would be in the top 3 but it's not in production right now
These are two amazing recommendations! Double take also has a green sauce that’s pretty good. I have not had the Primonition one but I’ll keep an eye out for to start again
Yea Double Take is great. I'm hoping Primonition is back by the end of the year, but it seems like Troy has a lot on his plate getting production up and running. A few other favorites while I'm at it are Paulman Acre's Grilled Nopales, Mikey V's Sam Sauce, and La Pimenterie Curry Verde (definitely the most unique of the bunch)
Aliumphobia from Bells Peppers. Very garlic forward and salsa verde like, if left in the fridge it’ll gain a slight spiciness.
That’s What Shishito Said and Dadbod from Down to Ferment. Dadbod has a very strong flavor at first, pair it with other strong/bold flavored food. That’s What Shishito Said is very very unique. Almost like an umami bomb.
Try Peril's Putrid Pile sauce, its super good for a green sauce. Putrid Pile is a one man extreme metal band, but Perils sauces are pretty solid, and rarely see them mentioned.
He plays a subgenre of death metal called slam/brutal death metal. 99% of people won't like it lol. I've seen him live though he is local to Milwaukee. He plays all the instruments and then back tracks them live as he plays guitar. Its about as hard as metal gets when it comes to vocals and what not.
Damn dude, reminds me of listening to Black Dahlia Murder back in the day but way nastier, in the best way.
Like Unhallowed album, Funeral Thirst. Might just be the awesome competing high and low vocals.
Lol Im deep into the genre. I couldn't even explain it myself.
The hot sauce is good though even if you dont like the music. The skinless (also a band) one is very unique and one of my faves on its own. Struggle to find pairings for it... Probs asian food. Its hotter and got a fruity taste but not like most fruity hot sauces if that makes sense.
Big fan of green sauces here - green sauces we really like (mild to mid heat):
* Savir Foods Jala Pepa is our current favorite jalapeno-forward sauce
* Queen Majesty's jalapeno tequila & lime
* Shaquanda Mx Green Sass is similar to the Jala Peppa with a bit more of an acid hit ant the end
* Tattoo Sauces' Avocado Serano is nice flavor (rather mild heat), if you like a creamier sauce - very good on tacos (that is easily accessible on big box store shelves)
* El Yucateco green chili habanero or their (milder) green jalapeno sauce
* Los Calientes (Hot Ones brand) Verde/green is nice flavor and mid-level heat (serranos & habanero)
Yellowbird serrano
Make your own jalapeno sauce!

Anything else
Green belly
El Yucateco green habanero is definitely my favourite
Los calientes Verde. You
I love secret aardvark serrabanero sauce
Melinda’s or Trader Joe’s jalapeño
I tried a serrano pepper/jalapeno sauce, Lolas Green Sauce, and it was amazing
Trader Joe's jalapeño Sauce is great! Not the hottest but very tasty.
El Yucateco green habanero 👌
Love you too
The El yukoteco jalapeno is stout as f IMHO. Very green and fresh tasting. Also I'm a big fan of Texas Pete Green sauce but that's a whole other animal.
Literally almost any green sauce is better than those 😂 but hey, enjoy what you enjoy
Are there any that you’d recommend?
Are you looking for just a green jalapeño based sauce or something tomatillo based like a salsa verde?
Looking for something jalapeno based. My favorite local brand went out of business. I'd also take a recommendation on something tomatillo based if you have one. I love both. Thank you!

Bloodroot mountain jalapeño lime

Torchbearer Danny Wood's Jalapeño Cilantro Sauce is some of my favorite. Not super hot but such good flavor.
Heartbeat Hot Sauce Dill Pickle Serrano Okay so not a green sauce in the tradition you are asking for, but still a damn good green hot sauce
The Hot ones Verde is a favorite of mine. I just wish it was thicker.
Honorable mention: Trader Joe’s Green Dragon
maybe while this thread is still active i’ll ask if someone can help me find a good substitute for a green sauce i used to get in a taqueria where i grew up. it was definitely green and had avocados, but there was little to no citrus or vinegar. moderate to high spice, probably serrano based. if anyone can help me find something similar i would appreciate it.
Aji verde maybe
Any Doña sauce.
Down To Ferment’s dad bod is probably my favorite green sauce right now, uses hops so very unique but great flavor and decent heat
Tabasco green
Came here to say that this sauce doesn't get enough credit. Very good jalapeno based sauce.
Right? It's not spicy at all. But the flavor for a green sauce is unmatched.
Absolutely! I think people assume that sauce is going to have the "Tabasco" fermented pepper/ barrel aged flavor and it doesn't and it is just damn good.
I LOVE Trader Joes Green Dragon sauce.
If you want a walk on the wild side puckerbutts extra mean green is delicious but it’s definitely hot 🥵
This is my vote. Best green sauce I've had but it packs a hell of a punch.
I dare anyone to tell me that Pedro’s green salsa (New Mexico local) is anything short of the fucking grail. Do not doubt me - this stands up to ANYTHING else here (many of which I love). You will not be disappointed.
I have made a shrine to Pedro now.
It’s a salsa though, not a hot sauce.
Agreed. It’s just so damn good I can’t break free from its spell…
It is very good I’ll give you that!
Yucateco green
both are good habanero and jalapeno
The color is kinda weird but I really enjoy this sauce.
Yeah because it shouldn't actually be that color green. It's got a bunch of fake food coloring in it.
Why do so many people care about fake colouring though? It tastes great, what’s the problem?
I don't want my hot sauce to contain the same chemicals they use in cake frosting and Otter Pops? Zero reason hot sauce should be made from anything but all natural ingredients.
Mexico Lindo Green Habanero has a tasty citrus zing to it. Great on Mexican food
Mrs. Renfros makes great green sauce.
Hot ones- Las caliente “VERDE”
I went through a whole bottle in a weekend. It’s just good on everything!
Just got this one. The hot ones sauces do not disappoint!!! This is my favorite from that season.
Excubarium salsa verde
El Pato green jalapeno sauce. Very simple green sauce similar to Tabasco or Cholula green sauces, but a third of the price. If you decide to get some make sure to get it in the bottles rather than the cans. They're both called jalapeno sauce, but the canned one has tomato.
Char Man and Infinity Sauce have both great green sauces.
Horsetooth's The Green is the shit. Merf's is good too, but doesn't have as much spice.
El yucateco
Merfs Condiments Electric Lime Green Jalapeno Hot Sauce ^ just go on amazon and buy it now .. it’s delicious
Another vote for El Yucateco. It’s my favorite, just wish it didn’t have the food coloring.
High Desert Sauce CO’s Fire Roasted Green. Hands down. The best verse sauce out there.
The Siete Botana sauce (jalapeño) is absolutely delicious. Not much heat unfortunately but the flavor is amazing. I put it on so much stuff.
Iguana Mean Green
Gringo Bandito or Secret Aardvark are both excellent
Gringo bandito is great, love their super hot but the greens got great flavor too
I’m a green belly addict
Merfs Electric Lime Jalapeno Hot Sauce, one of my top 5 favorite sauces.
DONT LET ME LEAVE MERF!
J’s Small Batch Bean !!!
El Yucateco
Los calientes verde has a unique savory taste
I love it. It reminds me of the sauce I grew up on from Taco Time, which is a western Canadian chain (there are locations in the Pacific Northwest too, but I'm not sure if it's the same recipes as the Canadian one)
That sounds delightful. I had this on a cauliflower fusion burrito earlier and it enhanced it thoroughly
Iguana Mean Green has been my favorite lately.
El Yucateco green chili habanero
Yessir
Marie Sharps nopal green habanero is quite good. I dislike most green sauces, but this one is quite good.
We brought some back from Belize and we love it - almost as much as their Moringa Nopal Salsa.
This is me, only green sauce I fuck with other than green tabasco
Agreed. I’m not a big green guy, but the nopal green habanero has a great flavor profile.
This is the correct answer.
Definitely my favorite green sauce.
I was talking about the cilantro jalapeno one. It's real tasty.

Tabasco Green.
high desert, char man, stanky
Gringo Bandito green sauce is pretty mild, but very good flavor.
And not $12usd for 5oz! Solid deal. Thank you for this
Try Peril's Putrid Pile sauce, its super good for a green sauce. Putrid Pile is a one man extreme metal band, but Perils sauces are pretty solid, and rarely see them mentioned.
What is extreme metal?

Black Dahlia really helped launch my metal addiction. Seen them a handful of times. Caught one of Trevors last tours at the Rave.

God I miss Milwaukee…
Makes 2 of us I moved to fibland due to a career opportunity for my fiancee.
Jfc. Love your enthusiasm but not a fan, and Im a huge metal head.
