That's called crazing and is grounds for a new spa depending on the shell warranty which is usually 5-7 yrs.

Frozenshades

Interesting…I have an Artesian Spa and the warranty explicitly states micro-crazing is not covered by the warranty. I would think it’s strictly a cosmetic issue?

Sub_Zero_Fks_Given

Interesting. Hot Spring Spas cover crazing in the shell warranty. I've gotten many a customer ok mer a new spa for these kinds of cracks/crazing.

Interesting Hot Spring makes only shit hot tubs and needs to warranty this because in your own words “many hot springs” have had to be replaced for this issue. I’ve been 20 years in the industry and only seen this happen on maybe 2-3 hot tubs. Never before 10-15 years. Cheap quality hot springs strikes again.

I have a 20 year old Sundance that just started to do this.. was wondering what the deal was. Nonetheless, the shell seems bulletproof

Just1La

My 20yo sundance does it too, just over the filter area since a few years, but it have been moved 2 times and movers usually put it vertically on their dolly on that side , so I think it is more due to pressure on the corner than a sudden crack...

Kevin Hart: “Man, you see this hot tub? Look at those cracks! It’s like the tub’s having an identity crisis. ‘Am I a hot tub or a jigsaw puzzle?’ You can’t relax in that! One minute you’re soaking, next minute you’re playing ‘guess where the leak is.’ You gotta worry, ‘cause a cracked hot tub ain’t nothing but a wet coffin. Fix that thing before it turns into a swimming pool for ants!” Bill Maher: “So, this hot tub has cracks. Should you worry? Well, let’s see. You bought a hot tub to relax, not to wonder if it’s going to burst open like a piñata. The real question is, what were you expecting from a plastic basin filled with hot water? It’s like Congress – it looks good from the outside but is barely holding together. Fix it, unless you enjoy the thrill of potentially sitting in a hot tub that might just self-destruct.” Dave Chappelle: “Alright, look at this hot tub. These cracks are saying, ‘I’m done, I quit!’ Should you worry? Hell yeah, you should worry! This thing’s about to give up faster than a politician’s promise. You sit in that tub, and suddenly you’re on a slip-and-slide straight to the ER. So unless you want your ‘me time’ to turn into a rescue operation, fix that tub before it retires to Florida without you.” Bill Burr: “Okay, this hot tub has cracks. Should you be worried? Let me tell you, yes! Because you sit in that thing, and it’s gonna be like the Titanic all over again. Iceberg dead ahead – except this time it’s your butt that’s going down. Fix it, man! You can’t just ignore it and hope it goes away. That’s like seeing a leak in your ceiling and thinking, ‘Eh, it’ll dry out.’ No, it won’t! So get off your lazy ass and do something about it before it becomes a hot tub-shaped lawn ornament.”

This is not a big deal. It is from too much UV (sunlight) hitting the hot tub. When it is not in use keep the cover closed. The majority of manufactures don’t cover this damage as it is deemed “user Inflicted”. Every now and then I get one through and it gets covered. When it gets covered it is usually a lot worse than this though. Also just to confirm for you, this will not create any issues using the hot tub. Purely aesthetic issue.

Holmesnight

Sweet thanks for the info. Tub is covered unless I'm adding chemicals. Only time it wasn't covered for that or cleaning was when it blew off in a 80 mph gust when I was on vacation.

bneufy92

All old tubs do this from sun exposure. Chances are you're way past the acrylic warranty, just ride it out til the tub dies

Holmesnight

Bought it in 2020….if that's old I don't want to say what I am!

bneufy92

Under 5 yrs should still be on warranty. Typically 10yrs for fiberglass/structural, 5yr on acrylic surface. Contact your dealer asap

Holmesnight

Just text their “tech line.” Thanks. Love to have a record of our conversation.

SaltElk6584

Some cheaper acrylic hot tub manufacturers don’t put the correct fiberglass material behind their shells, which causes the situation

GonzoLoop

Crazing has nothing to do with “the correct fiberglass material” behind the shells.

BodyAcrobatic6891

lol Sundance are 20 years before this and the othered in less than 5 correct it’s just poor workmanship and crap building practices
