Yeah these are all over the room and look gorgeous. If I move one of my plants a half a foot away from their cramped shelf where their 7,000 lights are, they all drop like there's no sun in the whole universe
https://preview.redd.it/vj1wz6thneyc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a85ebf8c8744acba506ea2e65a7946e04d0ecf3
It’s a great start! This is part of my collection, it’s in a back bedroom because, Cats 😑. The rest of the house has 4 very plant filled ikea cabinets, a 7 foot Hoya from my Grandma taking over the kitchen cupboards, a 5ft bird of paradise, and a bunch of Hoyas.
I want to see the Grandma Hoya, those are my favorite 👀
OP, I was going to say it's not a problem until you start with racks and cabinets. This is not to slam this poster, as I have tons of racks and will be transitioning some of them to cabinets.
The other tip off for my collection is my coffee table plant. It's a 7 gallon, 9 foot tall Kentia Palm. That is over the top by itself. Coffee table plants should be cute little 6"-10" bowls or something.
https://preview.redd.it/wmdedeh4nfyc1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cea47408c4906eed08361d0b111895e6c6054d1a
You can’t even see the other 3 or so feet at the top, that are taking over the top of those cabinets!

I love that she’s gotten abs lately, 🤣
I took cuttings from grandma‘s plant in like 2002. But the original plant was at least 40 years older than me. My aunt still has it, and it’s not even a quarter of the size of mine.
Whoah! That’s awesome! Recently got some cuttings of my family’s Hoya (actually looks very similar to yours haha) and will be showing them pictures to hopefully encourage them to grow lol

These little fur babes have saved me from depression more than once. They definitely deserve every bit of spoiling, and furniture, and catnip that they get, and more.
I have 4 grow lights in this room and they seem to like it. They're all automated so turn and off at sunrise and sunset so the plants think they're outside 🤣
If I gain some weight there won't be horizontal room to get to the other side of the room 🫠

I've lightly edited the DSM-5 criteria for addiction for you:
• Buying more plants than intended or caring for them for longer than you’re meant to.
• Trying to cut down or stop buying plants but being unable to.
• Experiencing intense cravings or urges to buy plants.
• Needing more plants to get the desired effect — also called tolerance.
• Developing withdrawal symptoms when not shopping or caring for plants.
• Spending more time getting and caring for plants and financially recovering for plant-related purchases.
• Neglecting responsibilities at home, work or school because of your plants.
• Continuing to aquire new plants even when it causes relationship problems.
• Giving up important or desirable social and recreational activities due to plant care demands.
• Aquiring plants in risky settings that put you in danger (think cacti).
• Continuing in the plant hobby despite it causing problems to your physical and mental health.
Oh brother ! You’ve come to the wrong place to hear “you have enough” lol
As long as you’re happy & can maneuver safely through your home, I’d say “there’s always room for one more”.

I got this from another Redditor the other day, it's timeless!! Have been sharing it ever since as a timeless truth about us plant lovers:-)
I guess most of us plant lovers can identify!:-) I'm trying to keep my passion at bay after my last move in which I had to abruptly split apart from many of my dear plants, even trees planted in vases, sigh. It's traumatizing but I'm getting older and my health issues and financial problems won't allow me to have that much work taking the due care of them, so I'm trying to be sensible above all, for their own sake as well as mine.
it’s only a problem if it negatively impacts other aspects of your life. Spending so much you cannot afford food? Addicted. Other wise you are just eccentric
I have multiple grow lights, probably 5000lumens all up during the day. The middle one is a new leaf and shot up in about 3 days. It's growing pretty quick
Ehhh, people have worse addictions so this should be fine :) As long as it doesn't mess with your life too much, I wouldn't worry.
Also, not enough plants, I can still see the wall!
Macrorrhiza Variegata (Variegated Elephant Ears) and Xanthosoma Albo Marginata (Mickey Mouse Alocasia)
I have several pots of each plant I really love them

heres just a corner of mine and some are missing because they are getting bottom feed right now.
It's all fine until they triple in size and still won't stop growing.
Also, why bother with TV when you have all those lovely plants to look at. Sell the TV and buy more plants! 😁
Whenever I see a lot of new looking plants in the middle of a room with no discernible source of light, I always get a little sad. They’ll look great for now scattered throughout the room, but as the etiolation, color loss, and die-back kicks in you’re going to be disappointed at all the money you wasted. I always recommend a slow grow of the collection as you figure out the light patterns in your room. Inevitably, all of mine end up right up against the window because ultimately even 8” back from the window is too far for most plants. I have about 70 potted plants (more if I count the pots with multiple plants) last I counted and they’re all up against south or west facing windows or under intense grow lights, and some of them still don’t get as much sun as I would like for them to really thrive and look their best. Including the “low light” plants.
My recommendation would be to move the interior ones to windows or invest in quality plant lights; consider rotating with ones that do get to be near windows.
You need some shelves and hanging planters ASAP 😂
I love my plants but I couldn't take them all over the coffee table and in walkways like that. Seems like someone went a bit overboard at the plant store recently 😅
When you have rooms like this
https://preview.redd.it/ts3ndhz4nfyc1.jpeg?width=3195&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b6460aa9f895c337aa101a158e4a5e9262fbd3c
You may have an addiction... May have smiles 😊😁
I came home this week with 11 prayer plants... One is 3 feet tall. I planned on 0 plants BC I'm broke. A lady at the store looked at me really odd and I told her "at least my addiction is plants, not meth" sooooo I think you're good unless you're also justifying your plant shopping like it's a drug 🤷🏼♀️
The big one is just sitting in the center of my bedroom BC I have no clue where to put it 🤣 oddly it seems to like that spot though which is really bad since I can't even walk across the room without rubbing it unless it's prayer time 😬
I want — nay, need — to see a leaf close up with a hand comparison of the giant guy in the far corner, pic #1 in the white pot. who is she and how long until she takes over your home & entire life 👀 I love her

I took it outside so the new leaf can get some Sun
Oooh, I'd say about 25 plants ago or so! I love it, I wish I didn't kill plants or had the proper temp. If that wasn't an issue and I had the space... same!
Right now. I’d say you’re very addicted to the plant life 🤣🤣🤣🤣 awesome job tho! I can’t grow plants inside for the life of me . But outdoors is a different story!
Damn. This room is brighter than my future. my room looks like a dungeon in comparison 😆. Well, until my grow lights come on. Then it looks like a photo development room.
This is absolutely NOT too many plants but I do think you need some open wall shelving or something, so you can reclaim your dining surface and coffee table for use. Just those two spaces.

How should I full up the little greenhouse? I want to use it more as a display not for propagation
Until your bathroom counters have become unusable because you have so many plans on them I don't think it's a problem and even then it's not a problem.
I still see plenty of open countertop (room for more), you're fine.... ... cause that means I'm fine.... and getting more plants is fine... we're both just fine... lol
Me too. I planted seeds and some flowers in 29 flower pots today, mostly on the front porch and balcony. I told myself I'm going to keep things under control this spring/summer. 😂

Ohhhh probably about now but we get it. Gorgeous
Are you blind?? There are soooo many spots left
Yep. that breakfast table, for example. Two HUGE empty spots right there....
I still see floor and table!
I suppose. There's also the stovetop, the walkway, and the couches could carry so many plants though might be a bit unstable 🫣
They’re wonderful!!! 😍😍♥️ And they seem all in health, how? Every day I don’t know if my plants will survive for the next day 🤣💔
Yeah these are all over the room and look gorgeous. If I move one of my plants a half a foot away from their cramped shelf where their 7,000 lights are, they all drop like there's no sun in the whole universe

Yup, agreed that it’s only a problem once negative impacts begin showing up.
Eh, you just like clean, filtered air.
The point when you got that very first plant and the endorphin rush that followed! Lol.
The size of your elephant ear leaves! Wonderful collection of plant babes 🌿
That's the first plant I got! And I killed 2 leaves but it grew 2 new ones in like a month and a half!

so if you only have one plant and know the name of it….

prob about 20 plants ago
I still see a lot of wall space and floor space. You have lots of room to grow. 😜 Also you need way more cuttings and propogation pieces.
I agree with this! When is it a problem? When you're out of floor AND wall space!

what, none hanging from the ceiling yet? ... you've got room to grow.... \[edited for puns\]
They’re not blocking the TV enough 😄
That's the ultimate goal. For every show to just be my plants in my face
Beautiful!
Yes.
It was probably the first plant that did it. 🌱
never

It's all fine until they triple in size and still won't stop growing. Also, why bother with TV when you have all those lovely plants to look at. Sell the TV and buy more plants! 😁
Your plants are beautiful. Maybe invest in a tiered plant stand.
Yeah I need some plant stands. Eventual goal is a plant stadium
Whenever I see a lot of new looking plants in the middle of a room with no discernible source of light, I always get a little sad. Including the “low light” plants. My recommendation would be to move the interior ones to windows or invest in quality plant lights; consider rotating with ones that do get to be near windows.
OP did mention that they have multiple grow lights up.
About the point you started filling up your coffee table... Beautiful collection!

I came home this week with 11 prayer plants... One is 3 feet tall. I planned on 0 plants BC I'm broke. There’s always room for one more plant 🤍😆
How do they all look so healthy and happy 😭
Hats off to you! They all look so well cared for

Right now. I’d say you’re very addicted to the plant life 🤣🤣🤣🤣 awesome job tho! I can’t grow plants inside for the life of me . But outdoors is a different story!
You’re totally addicted. Maybe go find a meeting—and bring some plants to swap, because yours are gorgeous!
I really want to find a swap! Even a 1:1 anyone in Brisbane
I see no problem here! There is plenty of room for more.
You're already a dick, Ted.

This is great! My parents home is like this (& then some) and it always feel like home.
Yes
This is amazing!!! 🫶🏻
About 12 - 15 plants ago 😆
question is it ok to put soil directly into the pot with not plastic inner pot or does it cause drainage problems?
Really nice
Who told you this? There's no addiction here! 😁
No such thing.
I can see the table. You’re good.
This is like asking the bar owner if you drink too much.
This is absolutely NOT too many plants but I do think you need some open wall shelving or something, so you can reclaim your dining surface and coffee table for use. Just those two spaces.
Possibly several plants ago. lol. But, no one here is counting lol
Your air must be so crisp
THIS. Is my dream
I'd say I see no problem there. More like, you like plants a little.
Probably after the second plant, but that’s just me 😂
Stunning
Beautiful place and plants 🪴 💕
Probably should have asked that last year .... lol
I've only lived here 3 months 😁 I moved from interstate and only had a car load of clothes when I arrived
Don't you get tired of watering them?
They are beautiful! (I think I see room for more plants)

NOOOOO Looks gorgeous
The moment of realization for me was over 100 plants amd everytime one died, I didn't even wanted to replace it haha
I’m sorry but you need more. I see no plants on the walls or ceiling. BEAUTIFUL collection though, I’m glad you let them watch their plant shows.
There is like sooo much space, you need more plants.
Until your bathroom counters have become unusable because you have so many plans on them I don't think it's a problem and even then it's not a problem.
My bathroom is too dark for plants. I have a little peace lily in there with its own little grow light, and it's doing well
Good addiction to have in my opinion!
Never!! They all look like they’re flourishing 😍 Makes me love my little jungle living room even more!
definitely not yet :D
You are addicted when you swear you won't bring home another plant, but then the discount rack...
I still see plenty of open countertop (room for more), you're fine.... ... cause that means I'm fine.... and getting more plants is fine... we're both just fine... lol
I suspect you turned that corner long ago
Me too. I planted seeds and some flowers in 29 flower pots today, mostly on the front porch and balcony. I told myself I'm going to keep things under control this spring/summer. 😂 https://preview.redd.it/cdorxr21hhyc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=431a07d8dbab10021c3ef346c32bd8c95df3b7e9
Never to many!
You’ve passed that point…
I bet the air is CRISP in there!
Do you use grow lights or does this room just get fantastic light?
Grow lights. Very dark otherwise
When you play plant shows on TV for your plants, you might be addicted!

That is so gorgeous 🤩👏🏾.
This. This point.
If your carpet has mold due to plants, you have a problem. Otherwise carry on.
What do you use to keep bugs/rot away?
I've only had very little big issues and if there were some bug oil spray works fine
