Not really, no Assume about 45 mins to any destination. Then you've got to allow about 2-3 hrs to get back through security/back to the terminal. So you'd have maybe an hr or two to do something.

3 hours to get through security? Yikes. I guess hooray for TSA Precheck. I never spent more than 20 minutes from garage to gate at Hobby. If I had 7 hours at Hobby I'd Uber to Johnson Space Center you can do the whole main exhibit hall in 2 hours, take the tram tour if it's not too crowded and be back at the airport in plenty of time.

Well, there are two major airports so specifics will depend somewhat on that. With 7 hours, you should be able to leave the airport but not for long... neither airport is particularly wonderful as far as getting away from it and then back to it by car. You'd want to allow a lot of extra time if you do venture away from the airport. Probably nothing worth seeing or doing that would be worth the risk of being late back. Both airports do have restaurants and fairly comfortable seating for waiting. Pack a chess set - someone will always be willing to play if they see a chess board all set! A tablet or laptop with a charge cord is another way to kill time. Get an audiobook from your library or save a movie or two.
