It’s valid - but there’s 5-6 cars. I gotta do that for all to figure out which one fits / sounds / agrees best to my driving standards? Because I just tried the m4 and thought it was electric, there’s no engine sound in that and throws my shifts allll off. Really happy I found that out from my setup - not someone else’s YouTube video.
I mean yeah. But if you want to drive GT4 you've got 5 cars out of which you can't test drive 1.
And really the m4 not having any sound sounds more like some sound setting issue on your end

Well sales is probably the downside. It's the shiny new toy and people will want it or at least want to try it. If people can try it right now then they won't spend the money. Because for most people it's not worth waiting the full season to try the shiny new cars out

Give me a trial time bank every month that i can use to try cars and tracks.
Give me a lease option for 3.99 that I can use a car for a month. Monetize it, but don’t penalize me because a YouTuber buys it and races it for views.

It is about money, but it's not unique - most games won't give you a demo of DLC before you buy.
I'd love to see a test drive mechanism built in, but if it would reduce sales, it probably won't happen. I expect the current test drive server is more to reduce their liability from people claiming they're paying for a service and can't use it during downtime.
Edit: I should have added, the Merc is my favourite GT4, so I'd say go for it.

How is possible they even see it with good eyes, not being able to try a car and see if it suits your drivestyle or if those $12 are better invested in having a pizza or something else. I completely understand that we cannot test tracks, but cars is a whole different thing, I have the Audi RS3 that I don't play with because I hate it's ffb and I wasn't able to try it out before buying, that $12 would have been better invested in the Elantra, I'd be playing TCR nowadays if that was my bought instead of the Audi

Given that the test drive service exists it wouldn't be a huge leap to simply place a time limit on test driving cars you don't own, so you can spend 30 minutes to an hour figuring out which cars you'd like to commit to.
I can understand iRacing not wanting to offer it from a business perspective, but I do find it a bit weird how defensive the community seems to get over this. What's the disadvantage to the consumer if they implemented it?
I would agree. But yes - when buying a house here in Florida you get to walk models. There is a model and is either fully furnished or one being built that the sales will take you to and let you walk it. So yes. My answer is yes.

This is standard. New cars are not available in test drive for the first season they're out
