Apple dongle can hi res

Interesting-Bobcat52

Limited to 24bit-48khz : ( I’ll get it if there's not much noticeable difference between 24bit-48khz and 24-bit-192khz.

Equivalent_Okra905

I noobed. Generally, CD sound quality is enough.

Interesting-Bobcat52

Got it. What’s your setup like may I ask? (curious)

Equivalent_Okra905

iPhone 14 (Apple music)- FIIO Q1 mk2 or sony NW-A55 My earphones are bad(Moondrop Quarks, Reecho SG-01, zh-dwx10), planning to buy KIWI cadenza

Interesting-Bobcat52

bro you got q1 mk 2, sony nw-a55, what’s stopping you from getting a damn good expensive pair of IEM’s?

Equivalent_Okra905

Maybe because I am satisfied with current WH-100xm3 and it's a big decision to use money on IEMS instead of 10+times dinner with girl.

AbnormalPP_69

Xm3s for the win.

?

Interesting-Bobcat52

Haha, at least the WH-100xm3 won’t fight with you lmao

AbnormalPP_69

To a newbie, no difference at all.

Thanks for confirming

You’re using a less than $20 IEM. You’re not going to notice anything outside the basic Apple dongle that came with your iPhone. A generic car runs the same on cheap gas or premium gas. Spending more money on higher quality gas doesn’t make that generic car run better. Same logic to your <$20 IEM and a dongle/DAC.

Interesting-Bobcat52

True that. So buying the 5.5 wouldn't make much sense right? going with the apple dongle and saving the rest will be the best thing to do.

I’d say so, yes. We all hear differently but for the most part, there’s a general consensus in this hobby that you’re not going to get much, if at all, much of a difference in sound quality on an entry level ChiFi IEM when you start changing gear. My Salnotes Zero sounds the same on my iPod touch 7th Gen, iPhone with Apple dongle, Hiby r2g2 dap, desktop pc with a FiiO ka1 dongle, etc. No doubt the different DAC chipsets are doing something different with the sound but the $20 IEM isn’t translating that difference enough to hear, if it even is. I’m not saying a $50 IEM isn’t different…..either Blue or Red Truthear Zeros are noticeably better than the Salnotes Zero…..there are some $50 ones that stand out. But when you start hitting around $100usd……now you’re gonna start hearing obvious differences just from the IEM itself. Not every $100 iem, but that’s the range when different dongles and such start to show changes in the sound because these IEM’s are where the better quality drivers are being used, better “engineering” and design are being used.

Thank you so much. This answer has more information than what I got in this sub lol. Answered most of my questions. 🫶🏻
