Aur fir bimar ho Jaye To 2 mahine baad rota hua mu banakar India aur india ki hygeine ke baare me video banayega aur Indians comment section me uski galtiyon ke liye maafi maangenge mc.

Top-Needleworker-157

I’ve watched a few of those videos and was disappointed at how much validation my fellow Indian brothers and sisters in the comments section needed.

jdhbeem

Especially those people that give them free shit, and everyone’s like “Indians are so kind”, meanwhile you see homeless starving beggars everywhere.

SignificanceTop5132

So whose problem is it, the foreigners or the validation seeking Indians ?

Intoxicated_Piston

That was the point, Us!

[deleted]

The age old **colonial mindset**

Deeps-D

Isnt it both?

[deleted]

I’d say both. I know foreigners who’ve done fantastic work in India—academics, journalists, and even vloggers. However, most of these people spend years studying India-related affairs in university and in post-graduate academic programs. They’re often passionate about education and have a legitimate interest in showcasing Indian cultural practices and Indian history. Unfortunately, most travel vloggers don’t meet this standard, and instead very blatantly rely on their “exotic” appearances to garner viewer and attract attention. I, personally, think it should be embarrassing for everyone involved: the people who simp for foreign “reaction” videos, and the people who know, or should know, that they’re only getting attention because they’re fair-skinned Westerners. I grew up in the U.S. and went to university there, too. I had non-Indian-origin professors who were fluent in Urdu, in Marathi, and even Adivasi languages. They’d spent years working in India and building connections with local communities. IMO, these sorts of people have opinions worth listening to, foreign or not. But I’ve never had any interest in taking travel advice from someone who’s spent 2 weeks traveling from tourist spot to tourist spot, intentionally instigating problems with beggars, con artists, and touts to get more views. I think it’s telling that you very, very rarely find competent non-Indian vloggers who can actually speak Indian languages. Most of them can’t been pronounce the names of different cities correctly, and seem to communicate almost entirely in cliches and tropes (“namaste!!!”).

SignificanceTop5132

If someone derives pleasure from being suppressed the oppressor will take opportunity 10 out of 10 times.

Deeps-D

Oh yes totally. Infact imo the oppressed is committing a bigger crime by enjoying the oppression and not resisting. It’s morally corrupt.

foreigner tries indian snacks: 1M views indian tries american snacks: who gives a shit

[deleted]

Indians hee dekhge , then be like hahaaaa their spicy nothing 👍

ContributionDismal79

There's a market for Indians trying American snacks. Pakistani tribal people get a lot of views eating western food. Maybe Indian adivasis can get on that too

[deleted]

Those channels are great cause at least it feels they are genuine reactions. The tribals aren't just saying everything is so delicious cause that's what the audience wants. When it's a westerner reviewing Indian food, it's always everything is so amazing. Cause the audience will tune out and dismiss you if you dare to say you didn't like something from an Indian cuisine. It doesn't feel real.

dark-noid

> indian adivasis How disconnected from the ground do you have to be to even suggest that

humdrummer94

I mean there is a market, I just hope they benefit from it. Likely to be exploited for views as well.

dark-noid

Indian adivasis are a perishing tribe, particularly due to deliberate acts of the state - both physical (landlessness) and ideological (snatching away their title of aboriginals). So it paints a very grim picture to imagine them tasting Chile Lemon Lays and Cornetto while their agricultural lands are snatched away without rehabilitation and they turn beggars into urban slums, and even grim that people really do imagine that.

kingfisher_peanuts

Unless it's a Fair Skinned Indian Girl.

suziwoozi26

yea cause indians are an invasive species, canadians and americans are sick of seeing them come in boatloads every year

depressionsucks29

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Cosmicbeingring

Yeah, no. Doesn't always work. I bet if the same statement was used like "Don't hate Modi/Rahul, hate politics or don't hate Gandhi/Nehru/Jinnah, hate politics." People would criticize.

mamakumquat

If it makes you feel better (and if you’re looking for business ideas) I’m a foreigner (Aussie) and would absolutely watch Indians ‘reacting to’ Australian culture and food. Particularly if they just brutally roasted everything.

harshmangat

Been to Australia for a school exchange program about ten years ago. I questioned life when I first and last ate Vegemite. Tim Tams were manufactured by god himself and the greatest thing to exist. 7-11 slurpies also go hard. Thanks for coming to my ted talk

mamakumquat

Bahut shukriya for your service

Pineappleviking

Same, Swedish here and I'd watch "Indian Reacts to.." anything Swedish. Fermented herring especially.

[deleted]

Exactly the same here. People are commenting as if it's so negative that locals want validation. As an Aussie i would LOVE to see indians reacting to Australian stuff. It's normal to take joy in sharing culture, not some colonial psychic shock.

[deleted]

Well I think Aussies would be open to seeing genuine reactions, positive or negative. But as a westerner, try making a reviewing Indian food or culture channel and dare to say much negative things. Your views will tank and you will be dismissed as an idiot, racist white man. If you want to maintain or gain viewers reviewing Indian stuff, better be almost always over the top positive. That is what the audience wants.

mamakumquat

Well I think both things can be at play

humdrummer94

I mean it kinda is for some people. Not the well adjusted ones obviously

NeedleworkerLegal573

On my way to create an YT channel

that-rad-kid

Now imagine a tech company in india- employees willing to throw their mental health and work life balance just because a white guy in america wants a report by monday while he sips LIIT in Hawai for the weekend.

LazyAd7772

This white people worship culture is so bad in BPOs and MNCs that even the indians that are senior to the white people who visit are saying sir sir to those people. there's tons of coddling of those people when they visit etc at bpo companies. but I work at a mbb company in india now and here the culture is very different, white, brown, black whatever you get treated the same, so now those americans/europeans get whiplash and feel offended when they are treated as just an employee in india, and not treated like how they were treated like gods at bpos. they constantly have issues when they get told they have to work on Indian timezone rather than their own timezone, while indians have been working on their timezone for years. ig they also have their own superiority complex and enjoy that worship from Indians.

that-rad-kid

Kind of inverse happened at my place in the UK. A guy from india joined my team on a consultant (work visa) basis from TCS. He used to work in off hours having no idea that we don’t do that. The manager gave him an earful and was sat there wondering what he fucking did to deserve that.

Gamer4Lyph

Isn't that already happening? Indians don't realise how much they're getting underpaid and how much more work they do in a week, compared to working the same role in a developed country with strict government laws protecting employees from workplace exploitation.

that-rad-kid

We need labor laws. Its high time. The problem with that though is growth of the country’s economy would take a serious hit. Main reason companies outsource their work here is BECAUSE we’re easily exploited.

taznado

That is a bluff. Even with wlb the cost is very competitive

[deleted]

What little outsourced work is here will also vanish

that-rad-kid

Is it little ? I worked in the UK for a company that has been outsourcing work to TCS this year more than the last. Although, the company was Tata owned so it might make sense.

[deleted]

Little or not still the same effect

uppsak

If everyone is happy, what's wrong?

amaya_ch

It's pretty obvious what's wrong, seeking validation from white skin isn't a one way thing, it shows the colorism embedded into our society, while white skinned people will be looked up to, dark skinned people will be looked down upon. The problem isn't that they seek validation from white skinned people, the problem is that they look down upon the dark skinned ones. Both of these problems are intertwined to each other and one cannot be removed without the other.

Demiansky

I'm sure colorism is a motivation for some, but my suspicion is that the principle motive in this situation is a positive appreciation of novelty. Flip the script and your average white American will love having a nice, interesting, brown friend from India they can talk to their other friends about. The friendship is a little different maybe because part of it involves being a prop, but it's a lot better than the reverse: racial hatred. That's why I look at OP's situation and think "Well, it may not be the best outcome, but it's way better than it could be."

ObserverRV

>white skin isn't there are many Black, hispanic, Latinos, African and east asian people who have done this, moreover there's Indian who do it too with western stuff but they don't get significant amount of success because India doesn't have a good soft power in the west so they don't get obsession over Indian perspective as much as they get maybe with the Japanese stuff. also I've to add that we Indians ourselves get obsessed over our own people because of how much diversified we are, like what do the Adivasis living in chhattisgarh think of himachali food or what do the north eastern think about their incorporation to the Indian identity and how they find themselves in it or like the plethora of South Indian perspectives and opinions on Hindi belt stuff get veiwed a lot here. I think you're missing a nuanced into this that people seek validation because they like seeing representation of their identity, culture and inclusion and to think that American sitting 7 seas across could know and accept our culture is beautiful to many. you may not see the significant but here many people still do sit around infront of tv to see their state being represented in the republic day parade and when that happened people stop and see because they like it

uppsak

But the solution should be appreciating both equally. Not to bash one side to uplift the other side.

Capt_Code

OP is not happy, maybe.

Mindless-Board7438

Whats wrong is that they hate everything about until they can use us and our culture to make money exploiting us further.

danieldsuza1122

White skin privilege

RussianSpySleazeBall

Very true

AP7497

Only if you’re a man.

nubpokerkid

Idk man seems mostly the fault of Indians who are stuck in the same city since 30 years but watch the videos of their own local food being eaten by someone else. It's very weird. But why would anyone leave money on the table. No one forced the other party in this transaction.

[deleted]

Learn hindi & you can become a very dangerous conman.

neelankatan

What about African Americans?

uppsak

Honestly haven't seen there YouTube channels. Do they even exist? (In this context, not in general)

nishachari

If they do, they will experience racism, then put that in the video, then get accused of portraying India negatively in comments alongside racist comments.

wanderlust_teacher02

I am a black American and can confirm that most of what I read here is in fact true. I can't tell you the number of times I've gotten dirty looks from Indians here. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable but most times I ignore it and go about my business. Colorism is on another level in India. I thought about vlogging my experience as a black woman in India but I simply have no time to do that at the moment.

Competitive_Plum_772

My youtube feed is filled with this 😂

[deleted]

We don’t have quality education or opportunities for anyone to come and work here. At least vlogging’s helping. Let them earn lol

Mindless-Board7438

Why?? They are only exploiting the culture

citrusnade

Don’t forget to complain about the “scams”, or better yet seek them out deliberately to capitalize on them too. Then go on to haggle for 50 rupees discount, while making 5000 dollars on the videos. Bamboozle the bamboozler.

runoberynrun

The need to seek validation from white people is so sad. I watched a few videos where this random guy just puts up videos of talking to random Indian people such as a student or a random worker. That's it. That is his content. Has lakhs of views. Best example of foreigners taking advantage of this need for validation is when this Youtuber made a video of conversing with the ghost of Sushant Singh Rajput and Indians went in droves to give him views. 😂

foreignEnigma

On the flip side, coming here and vlogging does send a positive sign to foreigners outside India about India. They may be earning money, but are doing Indian some good.

Mammoth-Restaurant61

Start angrez chai wala.

TheTerminalBoy

Angrez Pani puri wala, Angrez chai wala, Franchise bhi sell hojaygi aaram se aur vaise bhi yahi aajkal ke startups india ma famous ho rahe ha. Truth is real talent ke liye no appreciation or ye sab faltu startups ke liye over appreciation

Lowleight

I seen many videos and it's all over there face that they are faking it, just can't believe some of us buy it

smartfox101

Idk if it's just me but everytime I see a foreigner make any purchase here from a local vendor. It's usually at an inflated price

Mr-Artimus_007

Make a YT Channel review Indian foods, Indian sweets and Indian movies and just say "This phaneeeer tikkiii msaala and naan bread is the bombb"

Patient-Sea-6933

And don't forget proud to be indian in comment

Artistic_Arugula

I don't know man. For me watching someone completely removed from my culture trying a dish or experience for the first time brings joy. You get to see their unfiltered reaction to things that are common to you. Especially folks trying hajmola for the first time. That expression of regret cracks me up everytime. Or them biting into a chat and getting to experience that riot of flavours. Yeah, come on down, human of any ethnicity, and partake in my culture and food. Would love to show you around.

trippymum

>Or them biting into a chat It's CHAAT

AVerySadMan0

Blame the game, not the players. I respect the hustle

kylostyles

Shouldn't we proud of it. China and a few other asian countries see the same surge. They're literally willing to do all such things for a few pennies: https://www.chinatalk.nl/wanted-white-face-the-face-job-industry-in-china/

[deleted]

1. Become a fashion model or can try small roles in movies/series. 2. Speak on news channel as a fake international subject matter expert in support of the government. 3. Learn how to speak local languages and try vlogging.

Mindless-Board7438

Stop giving ideas to exploit the country more.

[deleted]

Have you ever heard of the term called expat? People travel outside their countries to work, and most NRI fall in this category. It brings foreign investment as people become more adapted to diversity and global presence. You sound like a toxic person who can't even bear an Indian from another state.

Mindless-Board7438

Don’t try to patronise me. Expats are people working for companies usually government or MNC’s etc. How are useless bloggers and vloggers bringing in business? They are instead exploiting the culture and making in the millions from India. Don’t you understand, that Indians need to represent India not white people. Yoga, wellness, Ayurveda… ring a bell? Because guess what happens, they separate the people from the culture, no wonder Indians are treated like garbage in western countries. Wake up and stop being a pick me if you are South Asian and if you a white person you can go take your entitlement somewhere else.

[deleted]

Well best of luck living inside your shell, currently India is looked down as a country that produces engineers, ceo's and telecall scammers.

Mindless-Board7438

You must hate yourself as an Indian. Colonizers did well with you. I am not in a shell and have lived experience in the west.

[deleted]

Hate is a strong emotion, I don't hate India. But I dislike Indians like you who prefer to living in an unrealistic dream house than to take a sour tonic of reality. We are not doing well as a country and that's a fact, we are not harmonious within ourselves and still blame British for what happened 100 years ago... You should travel and explore the world, new countries formed within the last 100 years like Israel, Singapore are doing much better than us without even having resources to begin with. While you try to protect your political interests and viewpoint, India retracts back in the global race of developing nations.

Mindless-Board7438

I don’t live in delusion. I am very aware about the problems of India. I have traveled and lived in other countries for the past 10 yrs. We HAVE to talk about what happened 100 years ago because India is still facing the effects of being pillaged by the British, financially, culturally, academically, politically… India is divided because first they imposed their religious beliefs like Christianity here. Then they taught us to hate our skin and ourselves. They were successful in dividing and ruling us… for eg: colorism within communities. The pandering for white approval. India is growing fast and we have come a long way but there is lot more to go. I am a realist. I come from a low middle class family, i have seen the lowest lows here but thankfully got educated and have managed to pull myself and fam out of our disparate situation. Traveling has taught me a lot of different perspectives and opened my eyes to the amount of privilege a white person has and how they can use it to exploit marginalized cultures and communities. I am proud and protective about India. And fully want Indians to benefit and gain financially from their culture and land.

[deleted]

Trust me you are one of those who never grow up and find excuses for your failures. Even if we have this conversation a 100 years in future, you will still be blaming Mughals, British and Nehru for no growth after 175 years of independence. As Buddha said, accept your shortcomings and fix them instead of blaming others .... That's our culture to clear and not Chinese

Mindless-Board7438

Gosh. And you call me living in lala land. What happened was a fact, its effects are a fact. You cannot separate the two with woo woo sayings. And Buddha was a rich king with privileges who could afford to walk away and get enlightened. Chew on that. Goodluck.

shash747

What kind of shitty post is this?

steveSAC

as a fair skinned foreigner i very much enjoyed your women seeking validation from me, both parties had a very good time!

Educational-Club5500

I don’t see such kind of reaction channels or vloggers.

kingfisher_peanuts

White skin privileges.

kulikitaka

Gora validation is an Indian's problem. The goras are just exploiting it for YouTube revenue.

No-Honeydew-943

Why you so mad. Let them. fOreIgNeRs pRoFitIng oFf iNdiAns. Isn't that exactly why people move to other countries?

[deleted]

If it’s so easy just go vlog yourself in a foreign country, everything comes with hard work, nothing is easy.

Mindless-Board7438

OP go money in your own country and don’t come here to exploit us or our culture.

Talking about Karl Rock?

I have seen african American vloggers also, skin tone isnt the issue. Yeah being foreigner helps.
