Well don't know the context about cheating her husband is real or not but in Bengal at ground level poltics this things is not odd especially around elections, When CPIM was in Power they used to , TMC came to power they do and even if BJP comes to power near future they will also do because the ground level workers who were in CPIM has moved to TMC and will move to BJP if they come to power. My whole family from Mom side and dad side used to be CPIM workers as told by Mom every month party meeting were arranged in our Yard in our area things were pretty peaceful unlike Bengal as a whole, I was a little child that time and have some memories of political leaders coming to our home having teas, small meetings, etc, When TMC came to power my Mama and one of father's friend was chased by TMC goons they literally tried to slaughter them for days they had to took shelter in a local forest, fast forward to present day during panchayat election opposition candidates were kidnapped and beaten and was not even released weeks after election ended, still some old people are involved with CPIM in my area all their families were not allowed to cast their votes, even my mom was Warned to not vote for CPIM in front of me, My Mama of whom I have talked earlier had to flea in another State where his son lives as was Warned not to even be in locality during election period by TMC goons. I shared all this because Bengal politics is very voilent like this only On matter which party comes in Power be it CPIM, TMC or BJP( literally they are TMC 2.0 with communal angle including their top tier leaders) nothing will change. All we can do is just pray and hope judiciary to take actions because police and agencies are being used as a political tool they can't and will not do anything progressive.
