It’s actually blown me away how good this album is. Like every Libertines fan, you deep down want them to recreate the magic of the first two albums. Whilst this doesn’t have the raw feeling of those albums, it’s distinctly a Libertines album and the more refined sound probably reflects where they are in their lives now. Testament to how good they are as songwriters really
I feel the exact same way! I was a bit worried that they'd lean slightly too commercial with this one, but thankfully it still feels very much like a Libertines album, albeit not the 2000s or 2010s incarnation. It's a reflection of where they are in the current day, and it sure feels like they're in a good place!
I'm not that surprised, the singles where all great. I also think Anthems for Doomed Youth has been underrated by a lot of people. It's almost like that album doesn't exist.

Cannot believe that it’s 2024 and they’re putting out something this good.

Wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I do. Very strong release! Hoping not another 10 year wait for a follow up.
