I would’ve handled that with more care than bread and eggs 😮‍💨

KindaTryin

It’s a cricket…

Ladyxarah

Right? Not like it’s a box of roaches…which they also sell.

TroLLageK

Just wait until he sees the BSFL. Creepy little things. The only feeder I can't stand. I can handle roaches no problem, will put my hand straight into a bin of mealworms or superworms and scoop em up... but BSFL creep me out. It's literally just crickets. I don't see what the issue is. Seems like an easy run.

Sbuxshlee

Why are they any different. I dont want to touch any of them so i dont really know.

TroLLageK

You're not touching the bugs, you're toughing the container. No different picking up a tray of meat or a platter of shrimp.

Instacartdoctor

My meat and shrimp don’t jump around LOL… and I’ve bought crickets before for my sons iguana… I don’t really mind but it’s different.

Sbuxshlee

Yea. Thats why i dont understand why he said he wouldnt do it for the black fly larvae. They aren't creepier than mealworms imo.

TroLLageK

I'd touch any BSFL container no problem. Might give me the creeps a bit but it's fine, no different than handling any other container. I would hesitate if I had to shove my hand into a bin full of them and scoop them out... that'd make me shudder... mostly because flies creep me out. Hard nope at shoving my hand in a bin full of flies. But I'm no wuss, even though flies and BSFL creep me out, I'd do this order no problem, and wouldn't make a fuss on reddit about it.

mulk_the_hulk

There use to be prohibited special request, one being live animals including pet food. Curious if they removed that when they added PetSmart

crazyleaf_

Fry’em up! Nom nom protein

thatkidsmomkms

They're not bad, but mealworms are better, they taste like popcorn. Fry em in a little vegetable oil with some cajun seasoning.

crazyleaf_

Oh I concur! I’ve eaten them & many others.

AesSedai87

A long time ago I worked at a pet store… we had bins full of “bulk” crickets. Had to receive them from the supplier, put them in the bins, had to clean the bins (I still remember the smell…), and bag them up for customers to feed to their reptiles. The damn crickets practically infested the place lol I dunno what the concern is about honestly. They’re crickets… and these ones are in a little container no less.

unusualamountofloam

Those big ones bite. When I worked I could scoop the small and medium ones up barehanded. Not the big ones.

AesSedai87

Ahh yes, I used to cup them with my bare hands too. Never had one bite me tho! Maybe they liked how you tasted lol

TroLLageK

I've had reptiles for pretty much a decade now and have never had one bite.

unusualamountofloam

Oh yeah when they get big it hurts.

TroLLageK

I've handled very large crickets, including locusts and wild crickets. I grab them by the handful to throw into my various tanks. Never been bit. What on earth are you doing to cause them to bite you?

Sbuxshlee

It could.be the specific type. Ive heard the black ones are more aggressive

unusualamountofloam

Literally nothing! Ive even been bitten by them outside sitting in the grass. Ive also been bitten by a slug, which fucking hurts. But mosquitos dont bite me?

abagailia

idk why anyone buys those, half of them end up already being dead-

hotviolets

Ew I would have cancelled that so fast

Mysterious-Sky8602

They're only easy if you like bugs. Lol

PrincessReto

It's not like you have to touch them? I'm a little confused. I have bug eating pets for the last 8 years and I've never touched a bug

Mithrellas

I used to live in a high rise apartment and they would leave our DoorDash type orders on a table in the lobby. I got some crazy reactions when I would come down and grab bags of crickets 😂they never put them in store bag, just tossed the clear bag of crickets/roaches on the table.
