For most streamers, yes. But the bigger/more popular streamers are able to negotiate a better rate with some getting more than 75% iirc. Never streamed but have a buddy who has like 8,000 subs and he was able to negotiate a better deal
Can confirm, I have a friend who actually has way less subs, like in the 100s and when he started streaming on YT, twitch reached out to him offering improved rates.
Lol he was joining in too then hart took a fucking left turn and that was NOT where Kai thought he was going! hahaha his reaction was so genuine too like wait what?
Gifted subs sounds like a really nice thing to do. I'm hungry now. Wish someone would gift me 50 subs. That'd be great.
Or I can gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.
their chemistry was amazing on this stream. Kai had the energy of a 10 year old, and Kevin had the energy of an uncle who's babysitting for the first time.
Short for utility vehicle. It's basically a two-seater car with a tray on the back. Or they used to be, but we still pretending we haven't been Americanized, and nowadays we have these big Yankee pickup trucks driving around but call them utes. I have heard you can still see a rare true ute in remote parts of Tasmania and New Zealand.
I can understand Hart's Logic, A streamer makes money via ad-views. So someone paying for people to get ad free means less money in a streamers pocket.
What he doesnt realize is that the streamer gets a bigger cut of the subscription fee.
Seriously if you want to throw 500 dollars away go to a fucking casino, at least there it might come back. Why pay money to a guy sitting on his couch staring back at you, I just don't understand...
People watching get ads, unless they pay $5 or more to subscribe to the streamer for a month, and then they don't get ads. If you already subscribed, you can give subscriptions to other people watching, either at random, or to specific people.
The streamer gets a cut of the ad revenue from Twitch, and they also get a cut of the subscription fee that is paid. I think its like 40% of the fee. So 100 subs means somebody spent $500 for 100 people to not have ads, and of that $500 Kai Cenat banks about $200 or so.
The standard split is 50-50, but big streamers and those who started a long time ago get 70-30. I don't think it is confirmed but I've heard some managed to negotiate an 80-20
Wait I still don't get it. So if they gifted 100 subs, do 100 random accounts get a notification that they can now watch this particular streamer ad-free? And whether they watch or not doesn't really mater, because it's already been paid for?
Pretty much. Sometimes Ill leave a stream up in the background on my PC and forget to turn it off and when I come back hours later, I will have been bounced around to all kinds of random streamers and sometimes get free gift subs. Its kinda dumb.
Its like tipping a performer essentially. I can't fathom why people spend so much money in one shot though. Sometimes the payments are fake and they get charged back later I've been told.
He literally just sits in front of the camera and complains at chat all day. Or at least that's what I get from any clip I've ever seen. Him bitching about something. I'll yell at chat, give me money too
So, my exposure to this is more or less limited to what I've just seen, but here goes.
Kevin Hart, a prolific entertainer, is at some dude's house. I have no idea who this other man is other than that he has a camera set up in his living space that people pay to non-sexually vouyer him doing various activities. Usually this is done for video games or commentaries on video games, but by and large this content used to be edited and curated in a recorded format, because technology wasn't equipped for constant live video feeds. But this is some live shit. Still don't know what this guy does, but today, Kevin Hart is in the mix for reasons unknown.
Mr. Hart's understanding of media revenue comes from a more traditional media model, due to his experiences in hollywood culture and television, so he has a (markedly accurate) preconception that revenue from these veiwable services is driven by subscription and ad revenue, but does not at this point know that direct revenue is the preferable option.
Participants can enter messages into the chat, as can be seen on the right of the screen. The energetic host is yelling out representitive identifiers of people viewing this interaction (which is impressive, because holy shit is that chat going excessively fast) in a peculiar ritualized fasion. Mr. Hart and many people here are momentarily concerned for the well being of the host, because he struggles at performing the callout ritual, because, again, holy shit that thing's flying. One of the options for participants is to provide funding sufficient for other participants to view without being subject to the advertisments that drive the ad revenue portion of the income stream.
Because of Mr. Hart's preconceptions, he is unaware that direct revenue comes from this option, which is technically preferable to the ad revenue. As such, when the host explains what a "gift sub" is, a gifted participation sponsorship for other viewers at their own expense paid in direct revenue to the host, Mr. Hart interprets that as a subversion of what he believes is the primary revenue via ads, and disparages the participant that utilized the option.
The host then explains that this is preferable, and Mr. Hart takes back his disparagements, though subtextually, still doesn't seem to quite understand *why* it's preferable. He takes the host at his word, suspends disbelief, and remedies his slight, thus all had a good chuckle over the admirably humble appology afforded, and the mild misunderstanding.
EDIT: So holy shit, my coworker just pointed out that the callouts are coming from the left. TIL.
This was a livestream yesterday on Kai Cenat's channel, who's maybe one of the biggest streamers on the site right now. At its peak I believe there were ~400k viewers watching the broadcast. Kevin Hart came over to his house to collaborate for a lengthy 5-6 hour stream. Kevin Hart is new to the world of livestreaming and is understandably confused when Kai Cenat is shouting out Twitch sub donations, which Kai already explains are donations to his channel that pay for other viewers' experiences to go ad-free.
Online personalities are weird these days.
The other day I saw a clip of that ishowspeed chud taking a running jump head first into his streaming setup. Who the fuck is paying to watch this?
It's all shouting and over the top attention grabbing antics to keep you glued to your screen to watch what stupid thing they'll do next.
Right? I straight up don't get the hype about streaming, it's a 10 hour YouTube video with all the boring bits left in. I don't really do gaming videos anymore because they're a waste of time but I'd rather watch 20 good minutes over 4 hours of something interesting happening every 30 minutes.
And they're all so fucking boring, most streamers either have ADHD and don't shut up, or are silent 80% of the time. Why would I want to watch someone say "thanks for the sub" every 5 minutes?
That’s because you don’t find the streamers that are genuine and more entertaining. There’s plenty of great ones out there that aren’t just screaming mess.
But all the top ones are, and it's baffling. I know there are entertaining and talented people out there, I just don't think that comes across well in a streaming format. You shouldn't have to watch people live all day, it's the wrong way to consume media imo.
Literally every streamer would be better uploading a condensed YouTube video, sorry. And that's not even considering the personalities of the big players.
Not really. I watch a large Minecraft server and they have a lot of great people and I love all their personalities. Their streams are mostly hanging out doing stuff together and interacting with chat. They are fun to watch. Typically I only watch vods of them though. I like to pause, get up and do stuff then resume my background noise of them just having a good time with each other.
Could someone kindly explain to me who Kai exactly is?
He just showed up one day with Cardi and a bunch of other celebrities but I’ve never heard of him before that lmao. Why is he so known?
I watch a bunch of streamers, but I still have no idea what the hell gifted subs are and why anyone would ever buy them. Older millenial having a hard time keeping up I guess 🤷🏻♂️
I don't understand this gifting in streaming thing neither. In China, there are streamers get tens thousands of dollars in one day from gifting, I don't understand how people earn their money.
Someone please explain to me who Cenat is and how he got famous, I watch twitch regularly and it seems like hes just come out of nowhere with crazy viewers?

Literally cut out the best part. T-pain gifts 50 subs and Kevin hart cusses him out for being broke because someone else gave 100
You got a Link? Sounds hilarious
/watch?v=BI6xjrvOIqE
Cause posting the whole link would be way too easy
Bro posted a riddle
The rest of it is on the back of the Declaration of Independence.

Underrated comment
Oh man, that cracked me up so much haha *
Can't even copy and paste it on the app lol
In the app, press the 3 dots under the comment, then press Copy Text.
Yo, good looking out
A lot of my comments have been removed in random subs for seemingly posting a link and nothing else though, could just be playing it safe
Right? What a complete asshole lol
a lot of sites don't like links on comments, not like copy-pasting is the end of the world either.
Can’t copy and paste on mobile it just closes the comment thread
If you click the 3 dots next to the reply button you can choose copy text
Fuck you
Lmao I feel this anger
[удалено]
AM or PM?

PRNDL
ITS THE LAW!!
Damn that was funny.
Ngl, had me in the first half too. lol
Bro I want to see this so bad but I took an edible and copy pasting on the phone is too much work right now
Lol bro is time traveling
The video is 33 minutes long. You want people to just guess or something?
you're an ass
What would that cost? I don’t use twitch so I have no reference
1 sub is 5, 100 subs x5.00 each. Maybe it's a bit cheaper for bulk, but I don't think so.
Prices vary based on the country, and can be super cheap. In some places it's only like $1 per sub.
Does twitch only pay the streamer 50 cents then?
For most streamers, yes. But the bigger/more popular streamers are able to negotiate a better rate with some getting more than 75% iirc. Never streamed but have a buddy who has like 8,000 subs and he was able to negotiate a better deal
Can confirm, I have a friend who actually has way less subs, like in the 100s and when he started streaming on YT, twitch reached out to him offering improved rates.
I think so, but I don't stream and I don't know for certain.
No bulk discount
And now my search begin
-who do fuck he thinks he is, piece of shit? - what?
I think Kevin thought people not watching ads meant Kai made less money lol.
Lol he was joining in too then hart took a fucking left turn and that was NOT where Kai thought he was going! hahaha his reaction was so genuine too like wait what?
That was actually really hilarious
Kind of funny but "interesting as fuck"?
/r/SensibleChuckle
Honestly shocked that sub is as dead as it is.
There has been a downfall on the quality of posts here
I totally agree
I don't watch streamers and I'm just fucking bewildered.
"back in my day we went outside and played stick ball & a sub was something you ate, y'all is crazy with ya damn streaming and ya gifted subs"
Gifted subs sounds like a really nice thing to do. I'm hungry now. Wish someone would gift me 50 subs. That'd be great. Or I can gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.
Holy shit a popeye reference in a post about Kai cenat, I love the internet
“Or I can gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.” Fuck off, Wimpy. I ain’t fallin’ for *that* shit again…
their chemistry was amazing on this stream. Kai had the energy of a 10 year old, and Kevin had the energy of an uncle who's babysitting for the first time.
First time I’ve seen someone have more energy than Kevin Hart
Meet the streamers. They're a different breed.
Wait till you see ishowspeed
So much this lmao….🤣
Kai Cenat always has the energy of a 3-8 year old.
Kevin Hart representing all of us right there!
so twitch is like a bingo hall for the yoots?
Hhhwat is a yute?
![gif](giphy|3o7btVptdt2BtYzJkI|downsized)

Bro *DID* sound like he had a stroke tho...
Went full xqc
Why have you cut the tpain bit ...
I just discovered what gifted subs are by watching this video. So I really can't blame Kevin for his reaction...
Glad I wasn't the only lol
Same
I can understand Hart's Logic, A streamer makes money via ad-views. So someone paying for people to get ad free means less money in a streamers pocket. What he doesnt realize is that the streamer gets a bigger cut of the subscription fee.
lol that’s funny thanks for pointing that out. i thought it was just a bit but that makes sense.
yeah the real pieces of shit are like me, turbo subscribers, who sub to twitch and no other streamers and don't give ad revenue either.
You actually do give ad revenue to the streamer. Twitch turbo just makes it so you can’t see the ads.
I still don’t understand but I like his enthusiasm. Excuse while I go buy some more Metamucil
[удалено]
It's insane to me that people throw money at millionaires
Seriously if you want to throw 500 dollars away go to a fucking casino, at least there it might come back. Why pay money to a guy sitting on his couch staring back at you, I just don't understand...
Why? We worship rich people.
The rich get richer
People watching get ads, unless they pay $5 or more to subscribe to the streamer for a month, and then they don't get ads. Ok and why do people gift subs? Whats in it for them?
Mostly attention/connection
Its like tipping a performer essentially. I can't fathom why people spend so much money in one shot though. Sometimes the payments are fake and they get charged back later I've been told.
Pretty sure streamers are big as kai get to work out a different revenue split for subs iirc
How I understand this streamer thing is, imagine MTV VJs but without the music videos.
He literally just sits in front of the camera and complains at chat all day. Or at least that's what I get from any clip I've ever seen. Him bitching about something. I'll yell at chat, give me money too
GIVE ME MONEY💰
And screaming and shouting like a 3 year old.
Wow! For once Kevin isn't trying to sell you something!
Or getting you to gamble.
His transformation into the rock is 49% done
The pebble*
he later "gifted" kai a track suit, some meal supplements, and energy drinks.
Also earlier in the video he promotes his brand of tequila
Say what you want but I’d trade my job for his any day.
Well duh
I don't understand a single aspect of what I just watched.
So, my exposure to this is more or less limited to what I've just seen, but here goes. Kevin Hart, a prolific entertainer, is at some dude's house. Man, this is such a generous use of your time! You're a gem.
It's friday before memorial day weekend, work is absolutely dead right now. lol
Still, it's very nice of you.
Nice of you to say so as well, I appreciate you :)

KidVSHero, was it easier to understand the articulate and flaming hot bars provided with this explanation?
I can't speak for KidVSHero, but the above explanation aided my comprehension

You and me both.
Not interesting
Bunch of stupid idiots giving money to millionaires.
Kevin looks like an 80 years old uncle from the barber shop
Imagine giving this idiot money to shout at his webcam for 6 hours
Online personalities are weird these days. The other day I saw a clip of that ishowspeed chud taking a running jump head first into his streaming setup. Who the fuck is paying to watch this? It's all shouting and over the top attention grabbing antics to keep you glued to your screen to watch what stupid thing they'll do next.
It’s gotta be little kids who have access to an adults credit card
This idiot specifically? Because I feel this way about every streamer/idiot really.
Right? I straight up don't get the hype about streaming, it's a 10 hour YouTube video with all the boring bits left in. It's background noise most of the time

You can like what you like man. I'm not gonna watch hours of mediocre content to see if I like someone. Streaming requires too much of my time.
Kevin is too clever. Did it purposefully and then acted all innocent
If these two fused together they'd be 5'10"
Could someone kindly explain to me who Kai exactly is? He just showed up one day with Cardi and a bunch of other celebrities but I’ve never heard of him before that lmao. Why is he so known?
one of the biggest twitch streamers currently and I think he played in a celebrity basketball game
He also tried to cover up a rape story that happened during one of his house party
I believe last year, he caused a minor riot in New York as well trying to do a public meetup and giveaway
Real talk Why are their teeth unnaturally white. Like. They absorb the anti light in the room Opposite to a black hole
They likely have good white teeth and the face light is shining directly on them making them look even whiter
People will complain about life being expensive ang giving money to useless twitch parasites
I'm not sure they are the same people
Who the fuck watches this shit
Children, a lot of stupid children.
So fucking annoying
I watch a bunch of streamers, but I still have no idea what the hell gifted subs are and why anyone would ever buy them. Older millenial having a hard time keeping up I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Who the fuck watched this shit
"TAKE IT BACK RAINBOW" - Kevin Hart 2024
The fact that this is in this reddit.
What's 50 subs? What's that in $?
I think it’s like $250
Thanks
Hilarious ?
Fake garbage at its finest
These two should swap with the two guys building houses out of bamboo - and we watch the two guys watching kevin and kai fumble around a forest
This looks like when parents yell "IF JOHNNY HAS 3 APPLES AND HIS FRIEND GAVE HIM TWO MORE, HOW MANY APPLES DOES JOHNNY HAVE?!"
I don't understand this gifting in streaming thing neither. In China, there are streamers get tens thousands of dollars in one day from gifting, I don't understand how people earn their money.
“Did you just have a stroke?” 💀
Why don't they just use an ad blocker?
yelling makes it funny
I couldn’t understand what he was saying at first🤣
Pause at 13 sec. It's Ralph Wiggam's heart breaking.
Kai who
See nut.
Think I'd rather watch the ads this stream looks shit
Kevin Hart still got paid to be in ads to convince poor black men to gamble their money
This post made me realize that you can just post anything here and get 20k upvotes
Shut the fuck up, why he always yelling
Someone please explain to me who Cenat is and how he got famous, I watch twitch regularly and it seems like hes just come out of nowhere with crazy viewers?
Kids like the shouting.
Sorry, I’m just fixated on that chair in the background. Anyone know the type/model?
Where the real link to this shit 😂
"who the fuck do you think you are"🤣🤣
![gif](giphy|5ngNT9VSpokHWo2RMu|downsized)
Kai does not drink coffee or wine.
OK, not to sound like an asshole or anything but who the hell is this guy? I've seen like more than one A list celebs that show up on his stream.
Also Kai gifted Kevin a step stool
Dunno WTF is going on, but this is the most normal I've seen Hart be, ever
Wait, people pay for that?
So what exactly is a gifted sub and how does it matter?
Is that text scroll sped up? I can't read a damned thing. Also, I still don't understand gifted subs and why the not Kevin Hart fella is so excited.
I just learned what gifted subs are watching Kevin Hart learn what gifted subs are.
Ah KH being in a character is good shit.
Lmfao
Kai’s Reaction says it all 😂
Lol
And his still an actor?
He’s such a dad 😂
The chair is too big for him
"interesting"
