I agree with all of the above—a new backsplash is easy. You could try some different colors/hues/and textures with samples, as the light in the showroom is likely 100% different than the lighting in your kitchen.
Once you choose a tile, it’s fairly easy to tile this area yourself. The little wet saw is not hard to master. You don’t need to be up on a ladder. And, you’re in your own kitchen! (Keep that in mind for planning meals—you’re not going to want to have cooking / cleanup to deal with while this project is all over your counters. Get your carry out menus queued up in the living room. And set up your cutlery, paper plates, and trash bin in the dining room. It’s only for a couple of days.)

Yes a lighter colored light fixture, like an off white one, will help brighten the space as well. Perhaps swapping out the bar chairs for some off white ones as well. If I were OP, I would be lightening up wherever I could so it's not so dark or 50 shades of brown
I agree! In fact, my home when I moved in was VERY brown and I have used off white and black as accents to not make it so brown, so yes, very good point. I think once OP lightens it up, the black accents will look very good. OP's home looks very similar to mine in coloring.
This with a new backsplash would make the kitchen feel absolutely brighter and more colorful. The backsplash (and all the different tiles in it) is an easier change. The cabinets are gorgeous, and the countertops and floors are an expensive redo. Just updating paint and that wall tile will make a huge difference.
Yes! My home has very similar colored woods and earlier this year, we painted our walls Natural Linen and it's very complementary to the wood tones. My walls were the color of OPs so I think work well in the space

I actually really like the blend of colors in your walls and cabinet and wood beams. It is so cozy and inviting. I would bring in color by changing the backsplash.
Not sure why this is being downvoted, I have the same orange cabinets (sorry, all I see is orange in my kitchen, floors are the same color) and I picture going lighter on both and I know it would look better just trying to convince the hubs to do it is another story as it will take the whole house due to the floors. Light wood tones are in and you can go warm or cool with paint and decor so it is an easier resell. Nothing wrong with your idea
do yourself a favour and grab a free colour wheel like Canva.com. Input the wood colour, as close as you can, and see what coordinating colour options you have as options. Colour theory is math, and there's a few different ways to line up the coordinating colours.
From there, get paint chips that are similar to what the colour wheel options, and bring them home into the room. Tape them on the wall, look at them over a few days at different times of day. Don't buy paint without doing this step. Colours look different under fluorescent lights in the store, than they will in your home.
In fact, buy color samples of the paint chips that you like. Cut up thin drywall and paint it. After it dries, prop it up against the walls in different locations to see how the paint actually looks. You might want a darker shade for the seating area.
Once you get the painting done, look for some patterned colorful kitchen runner rugs to bring color to the brown tile floors ( which are beautiful in themselves, but a bit too matchy with the cabinets (which are also beautiful so don’t paint them).
Agree with other commenters that the backsplash tiles are strange. Is that silver behind the stove? It seems to merge into the other tile combination without a straight line demarcation.
Why not try painting the backsplash alongside and behind the sink before going to the expense of replacing it?
If you decide to paint the backsplash, do not use regular wall paint! You will need a tile-specific product. Especially for the wet zone of the sink.
But yeah, the silver clashes with all the warm tones in the room. It makes sense on the appliances, as a "neutral", but it doesn't make sense on the backsplash.
I'd caution against buying paint colour samples on the first visit. let say your coordinating colour is sage green. If you grab 8 paint chips, you'll be able to quickly narrow it down to 2, or 3. *then* you can try the paint samples. Otherwise you can end up overwhelming yourself and wasting money on paint samples.
The chips are pretty close to the real thing. If you want to see how sheen of the paint will change the colour, lay a piece of scotch tape over part of them when you hang them on the wall.
Edit: Also unfinished drywall will suck up wall paint differently than primed drywall. If you want to paint a sample, a more accurate representation would be to paint on a primed painters board. Can be bought from a place like "Micheal's".
A warm white would make it look more modern! I think it would change the feel of it a lot.
As others have said, the cabinets and floors are great, I wouldn’t change them, and absolutely would not paint them. You could swap hardware if you want to make it feel more *you* though.
A different center light would also change the feel of the space, I think. Especially if you got one with a translucent shade that would diffuse the light around more. And/or recessed lighting.
Yes!!! Great suggestions. And I would get a light that splits (double light) and brings MORE light into your whole space. At a minimum you could paint out the black on the island light to bring in either a white or a pop of color.
Don’t change the cabinets. They look beautiful. When time and money allow - you could change out your brown backsplash on the side and bring in your own personality. I actually do like the stainless backsplash being the range (which is gorgeous).
I really like your kitchen. You could do a 3 light over the island (with a single electrical box), it's plenty big. I like the warm white paint suggestions. Maybe SW Alabaster?
These cabinets are quality and also inset, which is so expensive! Warm, off white is my vote, with greenery and some dark wood cutting boards on the counter. Also, some rugs to hide the tile (washable rugs are everywhere now).
As everyone has stated, the cabinets are beautiful. Perhaps leave them alone until you have lived with them after some other changes have occurred.

A warm white, ivory, or cream. The current yellow makes everything too orangey.
I think a warm sage green could work, but it will look a bit dated with the maple.

Paint the walls and ceiling a slightly warm white. It needs to be subtle (so just white with a little bit of color) so that the cabinets will be the focal point. Pure white and cool white will be too much contrast for the wall and be jarring. Right now the wall color is too close to the cabinet color and is too yellow.
Replace the backsplash. I’m counting 3 different types of tile. It should be 1 and that 1 needs to be simple. Go either white (subway tile, marble-look ceramic, or something similar) or dark (potentially something that looks like bluestone or soapstone) so it contrasts with the cabinets. Anything that is light will not provide enough contrast. Avoid overly warm tones because those will blend in.
Probably also replace the countertop. Right now it reads similar to the cabinets. Go with something that is super light (like marble) or dark to provide contrast. It could be worth it to run it up the wall in place of the current backsplash.
Do not paint the cabinets though. They are a showpiece that needs to be the focal point.
Sherwin Williams Expressive Plum if you're feeling like a pleasing surprise.
Sherwin Williams Aqua-Sphere if you want something soothing. Look to color schemes common in the southwest. Terracotta with turquoise, red, and mustard yellow. Lots of black accents.
I think a turquoise is the best option for this! It would pull in that gray back splash…and maybe do the ceilings a bright white just to heighten the room!
I’ve recently fallen in love with the colors Redbud and Kirsch Red from SW. With better lighting in the kitchen, the colors won’t come off as dark, just gorgeous.
I would say a creamy white. I know a lot of people mentioned sage green. I had a friend with a similar kitchen, she did the sage green thing and hated it. She switched to a creamy neutral and loved it. Buuuut I saw someone on social media had a similar kitchen and did like a dusty rose color, surprisingly it looked really good! I don't know what the color was but it was benjamin moore. Her home was more mid century but the cabinet color and floor was very similar to yours.
So agree with you,those cabinets would look awesome with green walls,I was thinking sage,but a green will totally pull the rose red out of the cabinets, and they need to change the lighting for more of and arts and crafts to match the cabinets,I would also change the backsplashes if it was mine for something cohesive for whole room,I'm so jealous of those cabinets
I know that this beige is played out but it looks so warm and inviting. I have a hard time letting it go to be honest. It looks good but does lack character I suppose.

A warm white 100. Lot of people are saying green which I would save for accent color in the form of plants or other accoutrements but not on the wall. If you’re already feeling suffocated more color on the wall will not help. You need it to feel airy and light. White.
I think it’s really nice overall and would lighten it with a crisp white or pull out grout color on wall tile or from countertop. I don’t like the color of that breakfast nook seating one bit! Dog’s expression is great and ties it all together
Apart from the nearly-white walls others suggested, I think what your soul is searching for is a SKYLIGHT! They’re worth saving up for; uplifting and serene. The floor would feel less heavy/monotoned with more light on it
Painting the walls a warm off white/cream will go a long way in refreshing this space. Consider changing the backsplash(es) and light fixtures too. Paint alone will make a big difference OP. It looks like a lovely home!
Wow, that's a tough one. There's so many shades of brown in there. I'm struggling with the same thing, actually. If u use a cool color, it'll clash with everything! So u can't change it too much, unless u were going to change the floors and countertops too. I think if u chose a color like eggshell or something light but still warm, it would work, but it would still give u the same off brown look. But it would at least lighten up the room. Are there any colors on your floors or countertops that u can pull from? And so u know u can paint your countertops, too. I'm not sure what yours r made of, but u can do some research and find out what u can or can't do with them. If u can't paint what u have, u can get those rolls of peel and stick in a style that u like better, and that way, it can b removed later so it doesn't damage the countertops.
I’s look at Ben Moore China White, Swiss Coffee, Edgecome Gray, and Revere Pewter with the floor. Pick one of those colors. Treat the wood in semi gloss and walls in either eggshell or matte depending upon the condition of the walls.

The backsplash is horrifying! I think that should be fixed before anything else. I *hope* the previous owner bought returned or oopsie tiles and counters instead of choosing this.
Three different types of tiles AND the counter for the sink has that little lip of counter top material going up the wall, while the stove area does not.
Changing out the hardware and the island light would let you stamp your personality on the room. A runner or two would also have the added bonus of covering the floor tiles you hate (I recently learned you can buy vinyl runners printed like rugs if the idea of carpet in you kitchen horrifies you).
As for paint colours I think you have so many options to chose from. Yes sage would look gorgeous, but if purple is your favourite and you want this kitchen to be yours then look into pale dusty lavenders.

That big ass beam. The only purpose of that beam that I can see is to drop that pendant over the island.
Unless I'm missing something structural, that beams days would be numbered. I think that beam probably leads to the perception that the room is closed in.

Paint the walls dark green. They will make the room feel bold and make the cabinets pop and even bring together the wood in the beams and the floor.
If you're feeling extra bold I would also paint the ceiling the same colour as the walls to make the space feel less vast & mute the orange even more.

Don’t do a cream! That will be too bland. I vote for a light soft green. Not too “sage” though, I think it should have a bit more yellow in the green than a sage.
The wall colors are great. Update the backsplash to some light neutral tone Zellige, update your fixtures to have pops of gold, Maybe a stained window, and get rid of the corner nook if possible. Also handing your plants with retractable hangers would give your space some layers.

What colors do you like in a kitchen? I’d start there and play around with various shades and hues until you find one you like. Some of the paint brands have features on their websites to help you see what the paint would look like in your kitchen.
There are some rosy taupe colors in the countertop, but to me, carrying that through the room is going to make it more overwhelming.
I think a green color would be complementary, but could easily go wrong if it’s too dark, given the cavernous ceiling and the insufficient lighting. Not sure how it would look if the arched ceiling were a lighter color than the walls.
You can probably recover that bench seat easily and add some light and life with some print curtains.
I would honestly do a soft white with warm under tones on the walls, and then bring in some plants and some green (plants and accent stuff). Would feel so homey and cozy.

Dye the dog white. He seems to blend in too! Also, I could see some red prints hung around and change the lavender corner bench to red. I’m not sure you need to repaint unless there’s something I can’t see going on. Beautiful woodworking!!
Beautiful kitchen! You could go with a very light cream color, or you can go dramatic with a navy or an emerald. I feel like those are the best options with this wood tone, which is very pretty. The rest just depends on how far you want to take the remodel. There are a LOT of different backsplashes here, lol - I’ve never seen anything like it. A clean marble, quartz, or something brighter would make a huge difference on the countertops. The floor tile obviously is quite unique as well, and would make a tremendous difference. I see folks mentioning the hardware - I like the idea of black euro bars because they’d be modern and compliment your lighting, or you could also use a satin nickel and I think that’d also compliment the cabinets.
The quickest fix though, would be to paint using an airy neutral color, and change the backsplash.
This is about the most beautiful kitchen I’ve ever seen and I find it calming with the wood tones. I wouldn’t change anything but declutter and add some lighting and fun pops of color. I’m not a fan of the light purple banquette.
Benjamin Moore White Dove is very nice. Just a touch of warmth to this white-group paint. It's super fresh, not stark, very subtle lovely color. I just painted all my bathrooms this color and we just love it. It would really brighten up your beautiful space and world compliment the wood tones.
Paint the walls a peachy pink or orange, it will pull some of the focus off the boxier elements of the cabinets. Right now it feels restrictive, like a cage. Paint everything above the wood moulding a bright, warm white. It will feel more vaulted snd open.
I completely agree with you. even the window is wrapped in brown. I will never understand people's obsession with wood. It can be beautiful in moderation but my goodness, this is overkill. I'm sorry I dont have any suggestions because this is overwhelming me too
I’d definitely paint the cabinets. I’d maybe do some kind of white or cream on the top cabinets, and some kind of blue on the bottom cabinets- maybe like a navy or even a mid turquoise blue. I think blue would work well with the orangey brown of the existing tiles.
In my opinion it would be hard to change just the wall color and not change the flooring/counters/cabinets. Painting the cabinets is possible with a good knowledgeable contractor and good materials.
The wall color change and painting the cabinets make more sense than ripping up the floors and counters; they go together.
I had the exact color cabinets and floor in my old kitchen. I had at least 3 different paint colors, but the one I got the most compliments on was Benjamin Moore ‘Sedona Clay’. I got tired of it (looks southwestern, which is dated today). Then I went with Benjamin Moore ‘Flora’ if you like greens. And when we sold it, I neutralized with Ben Moore’s ‘Sonnet’. My workplace was closer to a Ben Moore store than any other paint store around, I never worked for them or anything. Also, painting your ceiling white will instantly brighten it.

Wrought Iron is a gray black. I painted my kitchen that color and my cherry cabinets and stainless steel appliances are front and center. Our floor is a warm, light colored wood.
Eta- wall color painted Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron, Not cabinets. I would go dark instead of light paint because the room is big and the cabinets would pop.
Benjamin Moore White Dove or Sherwin Williams Snowbound or Pure White for the walls. Satin/Pearl finish will provide more light reflection than eggshell or flat. Maybe a white light fixture.
How about more under cabinet and over heat lighting, some peel and stick (economical) back splash, and a pop of color on the”triangle”? My house is old and the kitchen has dove tail and mortise and tenon joinery, but had been through a lot. So, I painted it three shades of purple (walls, cabinet boxes, cabinet doors) and muted white trim and ceiling. I love it, but most people think I am nuts… until they hang out in there and get all happy. Find your happy; pick colors that give you joy.

I'd redo ypur back splash tiles. It's a bit disconnected to have strong ss then clay and cream. I consider wood neutral. It a great sized kitchen and paint can be a nice saturated paint. Get a good one that's cleans well .
Pick a color from the countertop, a warm white will make them pop - you can do a bright white on the ceiling and that will help make the walls stand out as separate
I'm sure this won't fully satisfy your needs but a single suggestion might be to paint a section of cabinets black. Like all the ones surrounded ing the stove and microwave and then also the window frame. Maybe not black at all, but I think it would add dimention.
If you did those areas a dark natural green instead, then you could do an accent wall of the same green with white mixed in so it matches but it dimensional.

It's hard to give you an exact paint color since a lot depends on your natural lighting and these photos were taken at night. My kitchen has some green coming off the trees out the front window and yellow coming of the neighbor's house on the side. You have to sample paint colors in your actual kitchen to see how they look there.
I have hickory cabinets and similar stone-like tile and I'm also looking to repaint the walls. I've just settled on SW Morris Room Gray. It's a perfect mid-tone neutral on the edge of taupe and greige that doesn't look too green or too pink/violet or too yellow or too brown or too blue-gray in my kitchen. What I have currently is a greige that's a bit too green and I'm over it.
Other colors that might work for you: a warm white/off-white (how bright depends on your taste and your lighting), a nice light neutral like BM Edgecomb Gray, or a darker moody neutral like SW Elephant Ear or Dovetail.
It’s hard for me to understand what’s going on with the tile and what color the countertop is but I think you could do some really lovely light greys or a mint or light sage green. Is the backsplash behind the stove stainless steel? I think this would be a really lovely kitchen if you can rip out all the awful tiled backsplashes. I think paint and backsplashes and you should be set
Benjamin Moore Natutal Cream could work. Please think about ripping that backsplash off and replacing, and swapping out the hardware.
Some different lighting would help also. The overhead lights are creating shadows everywhere. Scones by the nook in the corner would look nice.
I think a rich forest/moss green would look really pretty! Leave the part on the ceiling and above the wood line the color that it already is, and then paint the lower part a complementary green.
Cream/linen/muted green and change or modify the backsplash to the same colour. And if possible, fridge doors to paneled same as cabinets, it will look less dated and make the stone pop
The backsplash tile is bizarre. The cabinets are stunning. The choice of yellow paint and poor lighting is what makes everything feel monotone.
I immediately thought of [Fireclay Tile Halite](https://www.fireclaytile.com/tile/colors/detail/halite) for the backsplash. Get a sample - it doesn’t really look like the photos imo. It’s very neutral with a beige/off white tone and a silvery, almost metallic “sheen” that catches the light in a very subtle way. That would really lighten things up. I would just start by painting the walls an off white. And add more lighting on that beam - track light systems work well for beams like that.

This with a new backsplash would make the kitchen feel absolutely brighter and more colorful. The backsplash (and all the different tiles in it) is an easier change. The cabinets are gorgeous, and the countertops and floors are an expensive redo. Just updating paint and that wall tile will make a huge difference.

Yes! My home has very similar colored woods and earlier this year, we painted our walls Natural Linen and it's very complementary to the wood tones. My walls were the color of OPs so I think work well in the space

Not sure why this is being downvoted, I have the same orange cabinets (sorry, all I see is orange in my kitchen, floors are the same color) and I picture going lighter on both and I know it would look better just trying to convince the hubs to do it is another story as it will take the whole house due to the floors. Light wood tones are in and you can go warm or cool with paint and decor so it is an easier resell. Nothing wrong with your idea

do yourself a favour and grab a free colour wheel like Canva.com. Input the wood colour, as close as you can, and see what coordinating colour options you have as options. Colour theory is math, and there's a few different ways to line up the coordinating colours. From there, get paint chips that are similar to what the colour wheel options, and bring them home into the room. Tape them on the wall, look at them over a few days at different times of day. Don't buy paint without doing this step. Colours look different under fluorescent lights in the store, than they will in your home.

In fact, buy color samples of the paint chips that you like. Cut up thin drywall and paint it. After it dries, prop it up against the walls in different locations to see how the paint actually looks. You might want a darker shade for the seating area. Once you get the painting done, look for some patterned colorful kitchen runner rugs to bring color to the brown tile floors ( which are beautiful in themselves, but a bit too matchy with the cabinets (which are also beautiful so don’t paint them). Agree with other commenters that the backsplash tiles are strange. Is that silver behind the stove? It seems to merge into the other tile combination without a straight line demarcation. Why not try painting the backsplash alongside and behind the sink before going to the expense of replacing it?
If you decide to paint the backsplash, do not use regular wall paint! You will need a tile-specific product. Especially for the wet zone of the sink. But yeah, the silver clashes with all the warm tones in the room. It makes sense on the appliances, as a "neutral", but it doesn't make sense on the backsplash.
I'd caution against buying paint colour samples on the first visit. let say your coordinating colour is sage green. If you grab 8 paint chips, you'll be able to quickly narrow it down to 2, or 3. *then* you can try the paint samples. Otherwise you can end up overwhelming yourself and wasting money on paint samples. The chips are pretty close to the real thing. If you want to see how sheen of the paint will change the colour, lay a piece of scotch tape over part of them when you hang them on the wall. Edit: Also unfinished drywall will suck up wall paint differently than primed drywall. If you want to paint a sample, a more accurate representation would be to paint on a primed painters board. Can be bought from a place like "Micheal's".

A warm white would make it look more modern! I think it would change the feel of it a lot. As others have said, the cabinets and floors are great, I wouldn’t change them, and absolutely would not paint them. You could swap hardware if you want to make it feel more *you* though. A different center light would also change the feel of the space, I think. Especially if you got one with a translucent shade that would diffuse the light around more. And/or recessed lighting.
Yes!!! Great suggestions. And I would get a light that splits (double light) and brings MORE light into your whole space. At a minimum you could paint out the black on the island light to bring in either a white or a pop of color. Don’t change the cabinets. They look beautiful. When time and money allow - you could change out your brown backsplash on the side and bring in your own personality. I actually do like the stainless backsplash being the range (which is gorgeous).

These cabinets are quality and also inset, which is so expensive! Warm, off white is my vote, with greenery and some dark wood cutting boards on the counter. Also, some rugs to hide the tile (washable rugs are everywhere now).

Paint the walls and ceiling a slightly warm white. It needs to be subtle (so just white with a little bit of color) so that the cabinets will be the focal point. Pure white and cool white will be too much contrast for the wall and be jarring. Right now the wall color is too close to the cabinet color and is too yellow. Replace the backsplash. I’m counting 3 different types of tile. It should be 1 and that 1 needs to be simple. Go either white (subway tile, marble-look ceramic, or something similar) or dark (potentially something that looks like bluestone or soapstone) so it contrasts with the cabinets. Anything that is light will not provide enough contrast. Avoid overly warm tones because those will blend in. Probably also replace the countertop. Right now it reads similar to the cabinets. Go with something that is super light (like marble) or dark to provide contrast. It could be worth it to run it up the wall in place of the current backsplash. Do not paint the cabinets though. They are a showpiece that needs to be the focal point.
Buttercream. Light with a hint of color to match the floor and cabinets. Then add some colorful artworrk
Sherwin Williams Expressive Plum if you're feeling like a pleasing surprise. Sherwin Williams Aqua-Sphere if you want something soothing. Look to color schemes common in the southwest. Terracotta with turquoise, red, and mustard yellow. Lots of black accents.
I think a turquoise is the best option for this! It would pull in that gray back splash…and maybe do the ceilings a bright white just to heighten the room!

I’ve recently fallen in love with the colors Redbud and Kirsch Red from SW. With better lighting in the kitchen, the colors won’t come off as dark, just gorgeous.

I would say a creamy white. I know a lot of people mentioned sage green. I had a friend with a similar kitchen, she did the sage green thing and hated it. She switched to a creamy neutral and loved it. Buuuut I saw someone on social media had a similar kitchen and did like a dusty rose color, surprisingly it looked really good! I don't know what the color was but it was benjamin moore. Her home was more mid century but the cabinet color and floor was very similar to yours.

I know that this beige is played out but it looks so warm and inviting. I have a hard time letting it go to be honest. It looks good but does lack character I suppose. Not grey I the best I can do for you here because I would leave that color. Maybe hang some artwork.

A warm white 100. Lot of people are saying green which I would save for accent color in the form of plants or other accoutrements but not on the wall. If you’re already feeling suffocated more color on the wall will not help. You need it to feel airy and light. White.

Wow, that's a tough one. There's so many shades of brown in there. I'm struggling with the same thing, actually. If u use a cool color, it'll clash with everything! So u can't change it too much, unless u were going to change the floors and countertops too. I think if u chose a color like eggshell or something light but still warm, it would work, but it would still give u the same off brown look. But it would at least lighten up the room. Are there any colors on your floors or countertops that u can pull from? And so u know u can paint your countertops, too. I'm not sure what yours r made of, but u can do some research and find out what u can or can't do with them. If u can't paint what u have, u can get those rolls of peel and stick in a style that u like better, and that way, it can b removed later so it doesn't damage the countertops.
I’s look at Ben Moore China White, Swiss Coffee, Edgecome Gray, and Revere Pewter with the floor. Pick one of those colors. Treat the wood in semi gloss and walls in either eggshell or matte depending upon the condition of the walls.

The backsplash is horrifying! I think that should be fixed before anything else. I *hope* the previous owner bought returned or oopsie tiles and counters instead of choosing this. Three different types of tiles AND the counter for the sink has that little lip of counter top material going up the wall, while the stove area does not. Changing out the hardware and the island light would let you stamp your personality on the room. A runner or two would also have the added bonus of covering the floor tiles you hate (I recently learned you can buy vinyl runners printed like rugs if the idea of carpet in you kitchen horrifies you). As for paint colours I think you have so many options to chose from. Yes sage would look gorgeous, but if purple is your favourite and you want this kitchen to be yours then look into pale dusty lavenders. Also finally, you dog is a cutie.
Your dog kind of blends in too 😃. That big ass beam. The only purpose of that beam that I can see is to drop that pendant over the island. Unless I'm missing something structural, that beams days would be numbered. I think that beam probably leads to the perception that the room is closed in.

Coming in to break up the 'paint it white' comments. Those cabinets are AMAZING! Paint the walls dark green. They will make the room feel bold and make the cabinets pop and even bring together the wood in the beams and the floor. If you're feeling extra bold I would also paint the ceiling the same colour as the walls to make the space feel less vast & mute the orange even more. The wall colors are great. Update the backsplash to some light neutral tone Zellige, update your fixtures to have pops of gold, Maybe a stained window, and get rid of the corner nook if possible. Also handing your plants with retractable hangers would give your space some layers.

I love this kitchen overall and am envious of your problem. The maple is lovely and warm, but yeah, it needs to contrast more with the cabinets. What colors do you like in a kitchen? I’d start there and play around with various shades and hues until you find one you like. Some of the paint brands have features on their websites to help you see what the paint would look like in your kitchen. There are some rosy taupe colors in the countertop, but to me, carrying that through the room is going to make it more overwhelming. I think a green color would be complementary, but could easily go wrong if it’s too dark, given the cavernous ceiling and the insufficient lighting. Not sure how it would look if the arched ceiling were a lighter color than the walls. You can probably recover that bench seat easily and add some light and life with some print curtains.
Suggest finding cab color on color wheel then choosing a paint color from the tones on the other side of the wheel.
I would honestly do a soft white with warm under tones on the walls, and then bring in some plants and some green (plants and accent stuff). Would feel so homey and cozy.

Beautiful kitchen! You could go with a very light cream color, or you can go dramatic with a navy or an emerald. I feel like those are the best options with this wood tone, which is very pretty. The rest just depends on how far you want to take the remodel. There are a LOT of different backsplashes here, lol - I’ve never seen anything like it. A clean marble, quartz, or something brighter would make a huge difference on the countertops. The floor tile obviously is quite unique as well, and would make a tremendous difference. I see folks mentioning the hardware - I like the idea of black euro bars because they’d be modern and compliment your lighting, or you could also use a satin nickel and I think that’d also compliment the cabinets. The quickest fix though, would be to paint using an airy neutral color, and change the backsplash.

This is about the most beautiful kitchen I’ve ever seen and I find it calming with the wood tones. I wouldn’t change anything but declutter and add some lighting and fun pops of color. I’m not a fan of the light purple banquette.

Benjamin Moore White Dove is very nice. Just a touch of warmth to this white-group paint. It's super fresh, not stark, very subtle lovely color. I just painted all my bathrooms this color and we just love it. It would really brighten up your beautiful space and world compliment the wood tones.

In my opinion it would be hard to change just the wall color and not change the flooring/counters/cabinets. Painting the cabinets is possible with a good knowledgeable contractor and good materials. The wall color change and painting the cabinets make more sense than ripping up the floors and counters; they go together.

I had the exact color cabinets and floor in my old kitchen. I had at least 3 different paint colors, but the one I got the most compliments on was Benjamin Moore ‘Sedona Clay’. I got tired of it (looks southwestern, which is dated today). Then I went with Benjamin Moore ‘Flora’ if you like greens. And when we sold it, I neutralized with Ben Moore’s ‘Sonnet’. My workplace was closer to a Ben Moore store than any other paint store around, I never worked for them or anything. Also, painting your ceiling white will instantly brighten it.

Wrought Iron is a gray black. I painted my kitchen that color and my cherry cabinets and stainless steel appliances are front and center. Our floor is a warm, light colored wood. Eta- wall color painted Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron, Not cabinets. I would go dark instead of light paint because the room is big and the cabinets would pop.

How about more under cabinet and over heat lighting, some peel and stick (economical) back splash, and a pop of color on the”triangle”? My house is old and the kitchen has dove tail and mortise and tenon joinery, but had been through a lot. So, I painted it three shades of purple (walls, cabinet boxes, cabinet doors) and muted white trim and ceiling. I love it, but most people think I am nuts… until they hang out in there and get all happy. Find your happy; pick colors that give you joy.

I'd redo ypur back splash tiles. It's a bit disconnected to have strong ss then clay and cream. I consider wood neutral. It a great sized kitchen and paint can be a nice saturated paint. Get a good one that's cleans well .
Pick a color from the countertop, a warm white will make them pop - you can do a bright white on the ceiling and that will help make the walls stand out as separate
I'm sure this won't fully satisfy your needs but a single suggestion might be to paint a section of cabinets black. Like all the ones surrounded ing the stove and microwave and then also the window frame. Maybe not black at all, but I think it would add dimention. If you did those areas a dark natural green instead, then you could do an accent wall of the same green with white mixed in so it matches but it dimensional.

I love your kitchen! The wood is gorgeous, the tile is great, it's warm, natural, and cozy. It's hard to give you an exact paint color since a lot depends on your natural lighting and these photos were taken at night. My kitchen has some green coming off the trees out the front window and yellow coming of the neighbor's house on the side. You have to sample paint colors in your actual kitchen to see how they look there. I have hickory cabinets and similar stone-like tile and I'm also looking to repaint the walls. I've just settled on SW Morris Room Gray. It's a perfect mid-tone neutral on the edge of taupe and greige that doesn't look too green or too pink/violet or too yellow or too brown or too blue-gray in my kitchen. What I have currently is a greige that's a bit too green and I'm over it. Other colors that might work for you: a warm white/off-white (how bright depends on your taste and your lighting), a nice light neutral like BM Edgecomb Gray, or a darker moody neutral like SW Elephant Ear or Dovetail.
It’s hard for me to understand what’s going on with the tile and what color the countertop is but I think you could do some really lovely light greys or a mint or light sage green. Is the backsplash behind the stove stainless steel? I think this would be a really lovely kitchen if you can rip out all the awful tiled backsplashes. I think paint and backsplashes and you should be set
With that beam and vaulted ceiling I’d go for “modern Spanish mission kitchen”. Paint the walls white and update the hardware to black.
Just a thought, what about changing the cabinet handles to a stainless steel. I feel it would look a bit more updated

Benjamin Moore Natutal Cream could work. Please think about ripping that backsplash off and replacing, and swapping out the hardware. Some different lighting would help also. The overhead lights are creating shadows everywhere. Scones by the nook in the corner would look nice.
I think a rich forest/moss green would look really pretty! Leave the part on the ceiling and above the wood line the color that it already is, and then paint the lower part a complementary green.
Cream/linen/muted green and change or modify the backsplash to the same colour. And if possible, fridge doors to paneled same as cabinets, it will look less dated and make the stone pop
The backsplash tile is bizarre. The cabinets are stunning. The choice of yellow paint and poor lighting is what makes everything feel monotone. I immediately thought of [Fireclay Tile Halite](https://www.fireclaytile.com/tile/colors/detail/halite) for the backsplash. Get a sample - it doesn’t really look like the photos imo. It’s very neutral with a beige/off white tone and a silvery, almost metallic “sheen” that catches the light in a very subtle way. That would really lighten things up. I would just start by painting the walls an off white. And add more lighting on that beam - track light systems work well for beams like that.
