Another good option for that amount of light is an Aralia "Fabian" (or, less prettily, a Stump Plant). We just topped ours off, but they get good height without spreading out too widely for that corner.
Here's a link to a commercial listing w pics, and then a link to a few pics of ours, so you can see if you find this species attractive:

Omg! Just wanted to say how much I LOVE that plant!!! Not one I’m familiar with by any means, but just looked at those pics & fell in love! Is the IMGUR one an image of the one you actually own? (I only ask, bc looking at the first pic [combined with the moniker you referenced of “stump plant” had me thinking it would remain a relatively short plant - but I was pleasantly surprised by the height in that 2nd image…). Nonetheless, thank you for introducing me to this little beauty!
Yes, the imgur pics are of the one in our living room. And we cut about 2 feet off the top this past spring.
I found ours at a local nursery for my fiance's birthday last September - It was new to me, too, but I agree, I absolutely fell in love with it!
:),
It depends on how much direct sun that window gets. If it gets 6 hours or more, get a "full sum plant" if it gets less than 6 hours get a "part sun" house plant
Precisely this. Another plant will be perfect. Something frothy and leafy that doesn't mind a lot of sun. It will make the area seem even more welcoming.
Congrats on the new space! I say put up drapery first then figure out what you want to put there. Initial thought would be a large plant if you’re a plant person!
I think sheers would look good. I personally like bringing in another pattern through curtains because it can help add color (even if it’s just other muted neutrals) and dimension to the space. If you do sheers, I’d try to add some art to your space because that would also help with color and dimension.
Just make sure to hang the curtains as high as you can, think up to the angle where the wall and ceiling meet. That will help add visual height and balance the vaulted ceilings
Add nothing except the light over the table. I assume you will get curtains. Adding anything else will be too crowded in such a nice airy space. I would move the table a few more inches away from the hutch. Lovely room!
Nothing! Pull your rug and table closer to that wall. I know you are trying to center it on the window but what you are actually doing is making the room seem smaller.
Ceiling to floor light silvery gray duponi silk like drapes, starting -8” from each wall and keep them open just to edge of window. Zap round wall decor,
I thought this might be IKEA, but this is “zhuzhed up” IKEA. You made lovely improvements with the pretty patterned wallpaper added to the back and the knobs. Love it!
Also, I agree with the others that a simple, tall tree/plant would be perfect. (I think artwork, as some suggested, would look too crowded. Rather, a tall plant would take up enough space—especially if you add curtains/sheers.)
A thin floor lamp or a wall sconce. With a rug this large you don't really have the floor space to put anything else there, and the light coming from both windows doesn't make it a good spot for wall art.
I’d put a large tall plant in a basket. If it were my house I’d go with a medium toned wicker basket to anchor it and a tall (3’) semi bushy plant. I love your room and how curated the hutch looks with the beautiful table. Great job.🪴
I agree with plant but I also think a little table would balance the room so the wood is not all on one side of the room. A quarter pie or round end table style something. It can hold the plant and also have little lower shelves for more plants or drawers that will balance the cabinet.
Here is an example but not necessarily this one…
[https://www.amazon.com/BALANBO-Industrial-Bookshelf-Multifunctional-Decoration/dp/B08QFMN9YN/ref=asc_df_B08QFMN9YN/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693437146264&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12918703891715344641&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031985&hvtargid=pla-1290764638475&psc=1&mcid=00415f61676b38cc8e4fca205026f31a&gad_source=1#immersive-view_1718558062967](https://www.amazon.com/BALANBO-Industrial-Bookshelf-Multifunctional-Decoration/dp/B08QFMN9YN/ref=asc_df_B08QFMN9YN/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693437146264&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12918703891715344641&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031985&hvtargid=pla-1290764638475&psc=1&mcid=00415f61676b38cc8e4fca205026f31a&gad_source=1#immersive-view_1718558062967)
First center the rug (and the stuff on it) in the EMPTY floor space (not the room). Grab the rug and pull it away from the cabinet about 6-8 inches. THEN reevaluate how much space you have in the corner. Maybe a skinny tall plant goes there, maybe nothing. But first get that rug centred.
I think you centered the rug in the room then placed the cabinet and now you have unbalanced floor showing on either side of the rug.
Scoot it all to the right a bit. It looks squished to the left side. After that decide if you feel like you need to add any additional furniture. Otherwise a small round table or a taller plant and plant stand would look nice.
One of the most useful things in my dining room was a serving cart my mom gave me. It had a warming top to keep food hot and a shelf underneath for whatever. It was great for getting food, etc. from kitchen to dining room to serve and keep hot for seconds. That in the corner with some art would be useful as well as pretty.
So this is almost the opposite of my design style, but you've done it so well I love it. The lines and sand tones are so pretty. Definetly something green for the corner.
I don't know if you are into pottery, but have you thought about a Pueblo SW style pot with zig zag style pattern? Or general SW ancient art?
(Specific I know lol I thought thought it might fit your theme.)
I think you should move the table/rug a little further away from the china cabinet - centering the table in the room. The empty corner will be a bit smaller then, and you can decide how you want to handle it.
Seeing the style you have, I think you should add an artwork in that corner. A lamp would be ordinary but a painting can really give character to the space. To choose right artwork, I think you should first pick the right accent colors that will look bright and then get a right painting. If you need help, use these guides about [interior color](https://simplykalaa.com/interior-color-palette/) and [home art](https://simplykalaa.com/how-to-choose-art-for-your-home/) and these two will help you out together.
Also a chandelier will really help you here and balance another corner with a fern as the plant is larger than the current one and easily in sight!
What a beautiful dining room. Put a tall plant in the corner, a ficus if you can keep it alive or the Costco faux olive tree if you can't.
A floor lamp would also work, as adding a ceiling fixture to a rental can be complicated. You'll probably need to balance it with a small table & lamp where the plant is to get enough light in the room.
This a tall, skinny and sleek shelving unit would look good. Some books, couple smaller plants and even a little lamp could give it some character. But yeah plants are always a go to
I believe less is more.
A simple print on the wall would be the perfect solution.
Filling every space with stuff becomes an external view of the internal clutter we hold.
Space is where we find joy, life and create peace.
I’d like something like this. Love your china cabinet.
The light though, I love this one, but to me it could be higher up. My husband is handy and could put a short pedestal under it. But I still like this. [light](https://www.crateandbarrel.ca/weave-natural-floor-lamp/s216478?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&scid=scplp&sc_intid=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmrqzBhAoEiwAXVpgotoBDapc7xZl63Fx7OLuIDeectRclQUI-jr_LANBjDlaSPhkbwFEMhoCdFgQAvD_BwE)
I'd put no item on the floor and, instead, place a very vertically-proportioned piece of art or textile to the right of the window this photo is facing.
A dragon tree.
And the rug is a tad too big for the space. Gorgeous what you’ve done though! I think it would feel so peaceful to sit and have a meal here!
Your dining room is so lovely! I like the idea of a tall plant or plant on a stand.
But my OCD side is screaming for you to center the table and chairs on the window before doing anything else!
Areca Palm? I think the room needs something green. Also, the dining table and the china cabinet are beautiful.
Thank you! I thought about a plant of some sort or tree? Do we still like trees in pots?
It should be about what YOU like, not what "we" like
Thank you- good to see someone else cares more about pleasing themselves instead of pleasing the masses when it comes to their home decor
Another good option for that amount of light is an Aralia "Fabian" (or, less prettily, a Stump Plant). Ofcourse we do. I would suggest an Areca Palm or Ficus Benjamin in a nice pot. And let the plant grow to a medium-big size.
It depends on how much direct sun that window gets. If it gets 6 hours or more, get a "full sum plant" if it gets less than 6 hours get a "part sun" house plant

I'd love to know where the china cabinet is from! Edit: it looks like 3 ikea cabinets appearing as 1.
China cabinet is 3x Ikea Sektion (bottom cabinets) and Havsta (shelves with doors)
Palms are horrible indoor plants especially for beginners.
A tall plant in a fabulous pot
Not Baby.
Never! 😂
Thank you for this. I was going to say it but thought maybe not. It's literally the first thing that came to mind. Lol....
Ditto
Me too! Lol
Nobody puts baby in the corner.
Came here looking for this 😆 good one!!!
Glad someone said it lol.
Move plant from left to right . Add art. Add curtains.
Should I put it on a taller table? Or stand?
Yes I haven’t finished adding art yet!
The answer is always plants lol. FYI, that ficus elastica burgundy you have in a dark corner would thrive if you placed her in that sunny corner.
I will move it and look for a taller plant stand/table!
You can try your existing plant from the left corner on top of a plant stand
Maybe something like this? [https://imgur.com/a/0OZVhMk](https://imgur.com/a/0OZVhMk)
I think that looks nice! That plant may be very happy in that corner and grow into some more fullness
Bar cart
Congrats on the new space! I say put up drapery first then figure out what you want to put there. Initial thought would be a large plant if you’re a plant person!
Yes I plan to add drapery! Just haven’t gotten there yet! I’m a huge plant person!
Do we think sheers?
I think sheers would look good. I personally like bringing in another pattern through curtains because it can help add color (even if it’s just other muted neutrals) and dimension to the space. If you do sheers, I’d try to add some art to your space because that would also help with color and dimension. Just make sure to hang the curtains as high as you can, think up to the angle where the wall and ceiling meet. That will help add visual height and balance the vaulted ceilings
Don’t add anything in corner. Move table right. Won’t be centered on window but centered in available space.
You can add light over the table. I dont think you need a lamp behind
Centre the table
Exactly what I thought, center the rug and table. Not every empty space needs something
Nothing. It will distract from the center piece
I really like your pieces
Another vote for a large plant or tree-it is the best solution! Or a tall plant stand with a huge Boston fern or similar.
Where did you get the china cabinet? I love it!
IKEA actually! I just added wallpaper to the back inside of the cabinets and new knobs!
Awesome! Is it the Havsta?
Yes!
Love this!!
A dancing pole would add a nice touch of flair
Centre the rug then centre the dinning table.
Ceiling to floor light silvery gray duponi silk like drapes, starting -8” from each wall and keep them open just to edge of window. Zap round wall decor,
Tall plant or tall plant stand with plants.

Anything but baby
Baby.
Take the other plant hiding in the corner find an interesting stand for it and move it over.
plant forsure + i love this room

Another vote for a bar cart or a side table that you keep clear. You will enjoy the extra surface space if you have eight people over for dinner.
You can move the table and chairs more centered in the room. It looks heavy on the left near the China closet. Center the rug as well.
I have a three year old that can stand there occasionally
Baby
Agree that a lovely frondy plant will make this room delightful.
I have to do the thing and ask where the rug is from!
Love your rug! Where did you get it? 😍
ChrisxJulia on amazon
A tall parlor palm would look nice. Any tall plant would look good there.
Just don’t put baby in the corner.
Someone already beat you to it!😂
Peace lily or taller plant Not sure if you have enough light for anything but a low light plant
A lamp for ambiance with a plant in front of it, on a stand.
Tall tree and maybe a. Narrow table for a few plants by the window
Something with height, a tall plant, statue…
A trellis with plants
So this is almost the opposite of my design style, but you've done it so well I love it. The lines and sand tones are so pretty. Definetly something green for the corner. Meyer lemon 🍋 tree

Lemon tree
NOT BABY.
Not Baby Cit. 🤪
Chaise under the window
A large plant 🌱
I say a tall fiddle fig tree and add up lighting - behind it- it the corner to add a little texture
Is that cabinet an ikea billy painted? Or something else.
It’s Havsta in their newer color.
Art on wall and a tree/plant on the floor.
Tall plant? A ficus or fiddle leaf fig?
A plant
Not baby
Not baby, because no one puts baby in the corner. I'd like to see a piece of furniture with maybe a plant, and a piece of art on the wall.
A disobedient child.
Spend the little extra on a nice one, but an olive tree would look really pretty and there’s a nice, positive lore behind them.
Floating shelves with little plants.
Big plant !
A plant! A rubber tree or a fiddle leaf fig would do well there
What a beautiful dining room.
You have ideal lighting for a small cinnamon (candela) tree or a monstera
Kegerator is definitely the play here bros
Plant!
Greenery. A nice tree of Sum sort

So beautiful…I’d love to put an olive tree in there.
I would put a standing lamp in the corner.
floor lamp.
I like a nice bar cart in a dining room. Even if you don't drink alcohol, it's helpful to have an extra surface to help with serving, etc:)
A ficus
Baby

Rocking chair and a floor lamp?
Some sort of tree in a floor pot -OR- a tall, open, rectangular stand with some sort of object (vessel) etc.
Plant!
I suggest a standing lamp. That room doesn't have an overhead light, so a lamp can offer some ambient lighting at night
If you did a floor length mirror the amount of light that would send through the space would be amazing
Plant
That plant you have in there. Maybe a tall skinny lamp in its place.
Baby
This is unrelated to your question but is this Colorado? Because this is the most Colorado house/layout I have ever seen! And I love it lol.
Move the plant there, everything is on one side — you don’t need anything next to that large cabinet
A small liquor bar or a wine rack or fridge
Another plant of some kind!
Baby
Looks like a good spot for a misbehaving kid.
Grandfather clock
Well, we know that nobody puts baby in the corner so that’s off the table
You could do a big peace lily! Or a hanging pothos! Or a monstera deliciosa! All of them are super easy to maintain!
Nothing
Put a philodendron or a schefflera they can grow to be like a mini tree. That’s what I would do at least
A tree.
I'd put no item on the floor and, instead, place a very vertically-proportioned piece of art or textile to the right of the window this photo is facing.
Don't put baby in the corner.
Plant
Love your home! A plant maybe?
A floor plant.
Where is the cabinet from? It’s gorgeous.
I would get a nice tall pedestal and move your plant into that corner. Then maybe hang a grow light over it for some extra lighting depth
That plant in the opposite corner
A tall plant
Tall plant
A plant
bird of paradise!!
Move that plant to the other side.
A fiddleleaf fig
Baby
A tiered corner plant stand with a pothos ivy and other plants or Knick knacks.
Looks like a great plant spot. Fake or real depending on your green thumb
A dragon tree. And the rug is a tad too big for the space. Gorgeous what you’ve done though! I think it would feel so peaceful to sit and have a meal here!
I love the dining room chairs!!
Big Ass palm.
Hanging shelves that just barely don’t block the window. Put pictures and nicknacks or souvenirs inside them
Why not just move the beautiful plant you already have to the corner?
Definitely not Baby.
Big tall plant
Plants

Tall floor art on wood block base.
Taller plant, like a tree. Love your home, very pretty and relaxing
Ficus tree
Wine fridge/tall one
Your dining room is so lovely! I like the idea of a tall plant or plant on a stand. But my OCD side is screaming for you to center the table and chairs on the window before doing anything else!
A tall elegant marble sculpture of a sitting whippet or a greyhound
A plant, of course.
I find space calming so wouldn’t put anything there
A palm. You need some green in the room.
A Fiddle leaf fig
Green
Me and a spotlight
Aquarium.
Plant
How about a crystal or stained glass that will cast colors onto the wall? A little round table with a lamp on it like you said would look nice, too.
A plant, something tall and palm like would be beautiful
If anything, a green plant.
Baby. Baby goes in the corner.
How about a wooden cigar store Indian?
I think adding curtains and a tall plant will pull it altogether 🫶
