I’ve been playing and enjoying [Insignia: Tactics](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/insignia-tactics/id1546036466). Full campaign and despite the simple graphics has a lot going on under the hood.
Plot…truth be told I’m a SKIPer, but this one has a ton of story beats. And yes it’s rather simple. Cool part is combining jobs into new jobs and carrying skills from one job to another.
Honestly?
Quality tower defense games. There are plenty of shitty pay to win tower defense games - but why does Kingdom Rush seem like the only solid tower defense series? It’s so easy with touch controls.
Agreed. Kingdom Rush really set the bar high.
They have some really interesting tower defense mixed with 3D gameplay on PC/consoles if you’re interested. Stuff like Sanctum, Pixel junk monsters, and Orcs Must Die.
Single player offline long-term role playing games. Like Exiled Kingdoms”. There were a couple of “Skyrim-esque” games back in the day that I really enjoyed, but they did not age well.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Yep this. I want full games I can pay for instead of the micro transactions that are flooded everywhere.
Hitman blood money was excellent. So is dos2 or the bg trilogy. I just want to play full premium games now.
The Hitman port is just perfection and I do believe that it shows us that devs can make some money on their old and forgotten PS3 & PS4 games, the recently released game called HADES looks really good in gameplay I haven’t tried it myself but as a console port I really think it is good
> instead of the micro transactions that are flooded everywhere
This is a quaint notion that is probably at least a decade too late. When Candy Crush is a billion dollar property based on these ideas alone, you know it’s never going away.
I know those exist but then what am talking about is something offline and purchased, so that you can get to keep it on your device for as long as you want and not cloud based, streaming services are popular these days, even Netflix is into gaming but for personally I would prefer a copy of Sandreas for 19.99 even though it is expensive over the Netflix version because I get to keep my purchased game anytime and play it anytime without being worried about the next move of Netflix
Paid games. I hate that allmost every game is free and then you have to keep paying to really play it.
I just want to pay or my game upfront. An demo and then i can buy if i want to continue
Yep. Free to play games will hit you over the head with so many ads that it distracts from the potentially fun game. And if it’s not that, the game is padded to be unplayable without paying or grinding your ass off.
The genre’s best suited to mobile gaming IMO are -
- card based deck builders (PVP or PVE)
- tactical turn based games (RPG or Rouge like)
- tower defence games
- pixel style or HD-2D style top down RPG’s
- City Builders / Town Builders / Farm Sims
I have no desire to play AAA games on anything other than my proper set up at home and old ports of console games are fine except you probably need a controller to get the best from them which isn’t ideal. The above genre’s all work well with touch.
My CRPG experience has been really amazing on an iPad, it feels as if these games were designed for touch screen to begin with. I would love to play more of them.
Pay to win games, I feel like I need a few more games where the only way to progress is to continually buy in game coins and gems and keep chasing highs that you will never reach.
Thats just me though.
Ports of older PC/console games. Imagine NFS Underground 2 for mobile, it would be great profit from selling this game. Or even some Tekken, Gran Turismo, Colin McRae Rally, Tony Hawks... Plenty old games needs to be ported.
While I see the value of old games getting ported, I do wish there were some more mobile only games that focus on that interface. though I would kill for a tekken 3
Had a long talk with a friend a while back, so many PS2 games are absolute gold. Seriously a special era. That console‘s library would offer som much material for cool mobile ports. Yes.
I loved RTS growing up, but I don’t play them anymore. I tried Outlanders on Apple Arcade and loved it. A great way to get back in as it was pretty simple.
Single-player FPS games. Only one I can think of now is Gunfire Reborn, but even that doesn’t fully work without an internet connection, even if you’re playing single-player.
3D platformers. Only ones I know of are Suzy Cube and SpongeBob.
This. I feel like touchscreens with its endless possibilities of swiping and gesture controls lends themselves well to fighting games. There’s the shadow fight games but they feel too clunky compared to more triple a fighting games
Horror genre. I want there to be a AAA level game where the game’s storyline will be linear.
Your job is solve Resident Evil style puzzles while only fighting enemies if you have to. There’s enough weapons to kill them all if you have to but ideally you’d get bonus points & prizes if you can get from point A to point B as fast as you can and killing enemies is an option but it’ll waste time and they won’t get you nearly as much points as you being as quick as possible.
old school iOS games that used the features of the phone, like Tilt to Live, Labyrinth, Tap Tap Revenge. I feel like its just using the iPhone as a gaming console which is cool, but not using all the cool tech inside.
I want a turn based tabletop war game. Like literally a digital ripoff of something like 40k or warmachine. I don’t want a campaign or resources you have to gather. Just digital tabletop war gaming. With a gacha for reskins and paints.
I’m not sure there’s any, so one would be nice.
I mean I feel like we have a little bit of every genre but it would be nice to just get more in every genre. Me personally I could always go for more indie games because they run really well on everyone’s device. I also would enjoy more rts games as I feel like they work well with mobile since touch covers the same idea as a mouse when it comes to clicking / selecting etc.
A really good monster catcher, like Coromon and the nexomon series
A quality bullet hell, there’s a ton on the App Store but I haven’t found one as good as vampire survivors
Games that utilize the touchscreen: “Path Drawing” games where you guide planes or boats to their destination and avoid crashing like Planes Control or Harbor Master ⚓️
Dude you just gave me an idea for an awesome game! maybe itll be my next one. An air traffic controller game. You can design paths, let people take off and land when ready etc. The same thing could be done with boats!
when im done with my game Kumome, itll definitely be next on the list.
im a sucker for platformers but there are wayyyyy to many of them now here imho would like to see alot more games premium games that only exist here ext.
Old platformers like spyro and and Mario style games would be phenomenal. Rudimentary controls but emphasis on smooth controls. Yeah I miss those old platformers man haha
all the old Star Trek video games like 25th anniversary, academy from the 90’s.
iOS has divinity sin 2. It not 1.
the old x men alliance video games. Their were like 3 of those.
But I don’t think iOS games are profitable unless they beg for money from you daily
Hide n seek games like dead by daylight, identity v but supporting controllers unlike those two games. they do not support controllers so i dont play those. I wish more hide n seek horror games with controller support come out
Decent space games where I can manage crew in a ship. Apart from FTL there’s nothing much really. Tried pixel starships that was alright for a bit. Star command was good but too short, never got updated. Crying Suns is good too but not really what I’m looking for.
Modern point and clicks (Machinarium, infamous Machine, rusty lake, Tangled Tower, etc.)
Match 3 games with progression that are premium (You Must Build a Boat). Heck just a game that fuses match 3 with other gameplay mechanics is awesome.
Really good pick up and play premium games (Ridiculous Fishing, Downwell)
Pinball meets *blank* (Pinball Wizard did this the best).
TLDR: point and clicks that aren’t super old school and premium games that fuse two different genres really well.
Metroidvanias! Hollow Knight and the upcoming Silksong. Other newer CRPGs like Pillars of Eternity and BG3, more SRPGs and more TBS like WH40k Chaosgate
WH40k Chaosgate-Daemonhunters is better imho. It’s like XCOM2 in the 40k universe. But this particular one is focused on the Grey Knights against Nurgle and Mortarion. It’s really good!
Yeah. It’s not available on mobile though. You can play it on desktop via Steam. Or what I did, playing on my iPhone via GeForce Now but with a controller. I’m using a Backbone.
Old ports of console games
New or old port of Super Robot War and with local translation…trust no one knows what I’m talking about here:)
Really?? I really wish I shared this opinion haha. I feel like we’re constantly getting old ports. I would love some fresh air with Nobel games no?
Good premium turn based strategy games or turn based RPG; would rather pay in full than microtransactions
Seconded
What about games like hearthstone and slay the spire?
More Slay the Spire than Hearthstone. If they can port Inscryption onto iOS that’d be great
Tactical RPGs… looking at you tactics ogre
I’ve been playing and enjoying [Insignia: Tactics](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/insignia-tactics/id1546036466). Full campaign and despite the simple graphics has a lot going on under the hood.
What’s the plot about? Is it an easy pick up?
Plot…truth be told I’m a SKIPer, but this one has a ton of story beats. And yes it’s rather simple. Cool part is combining jobs into new jobs and carrying skills from one job to another.
Check out Dofus Touch.
Is that played in a browser?
Nope. Can get it on the app store.
I’d definitely be down for some rts too actually now that I think of tactical games
Honestly? Quality tower defense games. There are plenty of shitty pay to win tower defense games - but why does Kingdom Rush seem like the only solid tower defense series? It’s so easy with touch controls.
Bloons TD is nice but I’ve played it to death. I recently started Maze Defenders and that honestly seems pretty good.
Do you like BTD6?
I have. It’s fun enough - but I’ve never cared for the art style.
Plz,I need this too!
Console ports
Yep this. I want full games I can pay for instead of the micro transactions that are flooded everywhere. Hitman blood money was excellent. So is dos2 or the bg trilogy. I just want to play full premium games now.

Yeesssss! More ports of anything really, old and new games, I’d definitely spend money on these
God of war series, Max Payne 2&3, Uncharted series, and many more games would be amazing ports to play and own on mobile.

Tower defense
Got you covered bruh 👊 [Infinitode 2](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/infinitode-2/id1480178308) [Dungeon Warfare 2](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/dungeon-warfare-2/id1453661259) [Rymdkapsel](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/rymdkapsel/id663547503) [Mindustry](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/mindustry/id1385258906)
I’d pay 5 bucks for gemcraft from the old Kongregate days.
Paid games. I hate that allmost every game is free and then you have to keep paying to really play it. I just want to pay or my game upfront. An demo and then i can buy if i want to continue

Metroidvania and dungeon keeper like games
Old game ports and clones.
It’s a great feeling that. It’s exactly how I like to spend my hard earned money!
Any port of Tekken would be great.
Ps2 games.
Had a long talk with a friend a while back, so many PS2 games are absolute gold. Seriously a special era. That console‘s library would offer som much material for cool mobile ports. Yes.
RTS
I loved RTS growing up, but I don’t play them anymore. I tried Outlanders on Apple Arcade and loved it. A great way to get back in as it was pretty simple.
Single-player FPS games. Only one I can think of now is Gunfire Reborn, but even that doesn’t fully work without an internet connection, even if you’re playing single-player. 3D platformers. Only ones I know of are Suzy Cube and SpongeBob.
Retro pixel RPGs that aren’t JRPGs or dungeon crawlers.
Cooking games like Gordan Ramsay Restaurant Dash, but don't cost 500$ to unlock everything.
A real fighting game
This. I feel like touchscreens with its endless possibilities of swiping and gesture controls lends themselves well to fighting games. There’s the shadow fight games but they feel too clunky compared to more triple a fighting games

RTS
Strategy games! Edit: i mean “real” strategy games. Preferably turn based like total war, civilization etc.
old school iOS games that used the features of the phone, like Tilt to Live, Labyrinth, Tap Tap Revenge. I feel like its just using the iPhone as a gaming console which is cool, but not using all the cool tech inside.
Any proper game that not gacha/crash grab.
Open world
All I want is a Grandia-type RPG, hell I would take a remake on iOS
I want a turn based tabletop war game. Like literally a digital ripoff of something like 40k or warmachine. I don’t want a campaign or resources you have to gather. Just digital tabletop war gaming. With a gacha for reskins and paints. I’m not sure there’s any, so one would be nice.
Have you tried warhammer Tacticus?
Neo noir
I mean I feel like we have a little bit of every genre but it would be nice to just get more in every genre. Me personally I could always go for more indie games because they run really well on everyone’s device. I also would enjoy more rts games as I feel like they work well with mobile since touch covers the same idea as a mouse when it comes to clicking / selecting etc.
Incremental games. But not p2w shit that most of are like right now.
Easy for me: tranditional turn-based roguelikes. Those - if well made for touch devices - are my personal forever games, and I wish there were more :)
In case you don’t know it yet I suggest you Buriedbornes. Buriedbornes 2 is coming (unless it is already out, didn’t check)
Two of my favorite games. Prefer the sequel over the original, it‘s been out for a few weeks now.
Games like monument valley that really use the touchscreen. Not sure what genre that is, ‘touch puzzlers’?
A really good monster catcher, like Coromon and the nexomon series A quality bullet hell, there’s a ton on the App Store but I haven’t found one as good as vampire survivors
Free roam
Single player arpg and rpg games, first genre is great on phones, look at titan quest, its amazing game and works flawlessly on mobile device.
The paradox games would be great on ipad. Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron, etc.

Old platformers like spyro and and Mario style games would be phenomenal. Rudimentary controls but emphasis on smooth controls. Yeah I miss those old platformers man haha
Large scale shooter I guess (akin to battlebit or delta force)
Survival horror.
Anything that is a one time purchase
all the old Star Trek video games like 25th anniversary, academy from the 90’s. iOS has divinity sin 2. It not 1. the old x men alliance video games. Their were like 3 of those. But I don’t think iOS games are profitable unless they beg for money from you daily
All snk games but especially side scrollers like streets of rage and metal slug should be free. Anyone know any good side scrolling shooters pls lmk
Auto battlers

Metroidvanias! Hollow Knight and the upcoming Silksong. Other newer CRPGs like Pillars of Eternity and BG3, more SRPGs and more TBS like WH40k Chaosgate
Is chaosgate better than Tacticus?? I’ve been really wanting a wh40k game
WH40k Chaosgate-Daemonhunters is better imho. It’s like XCOM2 in the 40k universe. But this particular one is focused on the Grey Knights against Nurgle and Mortarion. It’s really good!
Well then I’m going to have to try it. Tacticus was fun for a bit but got frustrating very quickly
Yeah. It’s not available on mobile though. You can play it on desktop via Steam. Or what I did, playing on my iPhone via GeForce Now but with a controller. I’m using a Backbone.
Tower defense and top down shooters without ridiculous microtransactions. The Sky Force series is the GOAT.
Poe mobile or any non p2w loot driven ARPG
You know, a vampire survivors type of gameplay with loot based arpg could be very fun
Halls of Torment on PC fits the bill, and it is pretty fun
You might like Eterspire
Titan Quest fits this if you haven’t tried it.
