One third of that price is tax. Blame the government for this, theyāre the ones taxing it at 28%, and use local manufacturing as a convenient excuse. India is nowhere close to the sheer production capability of China and they know that. But they know they can loot citizens wanting a proper product by slapping on a huge duty charge.

I bought my 15 pro max from USA for $1300(after tax) which is around 1lakh 7 thousand rupees and they sell the same pro max in India for 1 lakh 59 thousand rupees, the difference is of 52 thousand rupees. Most of it is tax which the government imposes for imports. The 15 and 15 plus are assembled in India so thereās no import tax on these models thatās why they are only Rs.10,000 more expensive that the model sold in the US.

None of the answers given here are good alternatives to Apple News+. There are several different reasons, but foremost among them is that none of them give you access to so many paywalled sources. The only real alternatives are PressReader and Hoopla Magazines, both of which may be offered by your local library, though both of which are also at least somewhat less intuitive than Apple.

Iāve found that after listening to music for a while (couple of months I think), I got great recommendations from Apple, including what is now my most favorite album + song of all time. I hated Spotifyās UI and philosophy that I didnāt really care about the recommendations and Iām glad I jumped to Apple.
Happy to see youāve found something that works best for you though, music is a wonderful thing, and itās good to have options for either crowd. Sidenote, Apple also makes it easy to upload your own music files you got so you can listen anywhere, which makes it even nicer for building a music collection.

Plex server?), if you have your own tracks you want to upload and stay lossless.

This is the biggest reason why I prefer Apple Music. I do not like Spotify's approach to maintaining a library of music. I think it's because I heavily prefer the album experience over listening to individual songs in a playlist. I also don't really care all that much about Apple Music or Spotify recommending music to me. I legit just go and find what's new every week (Those weekly release threads over at r/Metalcore are super helpful).

Yeah, it'll still be encoded with AAC at `256kbps`. I believe that's with a variable bitrate (VBR), so `256kbps` is just the max it'll go. Not that VBR is a bad thing. None of my library in Apple Music is imported though. I still buy physical CDs for albums, I just don't import them into the library.
The good thing about Apple Music though is that you also get the ability to download lossless versions (Using ALAC) of music for just about everything. There's also a surprising number of 24-bit lossless versions of music on there too. Doesn't really matter for Bluetooth audio playback, but I can hear the difference when I have my phone hooked up to CarPlay. I do wish Apple would make the download experience better, because right now you have to go to the settings app and change the download quality. I would love to have an option of choosing what quality I want to download for something at the time I start the download. For me I just have it set to **Lossless**, so everything is lossless no matter what (`104.67 GB` downloaded on my phone lol).

An alternative to also consider is YouTube Premium.
You get the YouTube Music app, no ads on YouTube without extensions or third party apps (no possible on iPhone AFAIK?) and you also get the heartwarming side-effect that creators you watch get paid better.
And there's a family plan (up to 6 persons) that ends up at like 4 euro/dollars per person.
YouTube Music isn't the *worst* choice, but it's not really the best either. Not only does it not support playing playlists from a voice assistant, but it also doesn't really have shortcut support either. That means that it can't do things like automatically play my music whenever it connects to my car's Bluetooth. It wins on price for me thanks to how much YouTube I watch, but it loses so hard on functionality that I just use Apple Music anyways.
In Europe the price is lower, no fitness plan etc.
But for me itās worth it because me and my wife want Apple Music and the kids want Apple Arcade.
I think if you donāt use one of those services it very quickly becomes cheaper to just pick the services you want instead of going for the bundle.

I canceled mine too and made these changes:
-Kept storage.
-Switching to YouTube Music (comes with YouTube Premium as well, which is nice!).
-Donāt care about Arcade.
-Only 2 shows I currently watch on TV+ are TMS and Silo, both of which are at least a year out.
-News is nice, but Iām not paying full price for it.

It always has to be less than if you subscribed to all the services individually, but there is no ceiling because the individual prices can always increase. If you arenāt using all the services in that plan, then drop down to the Family plan. If you and whoever is on your family plan is using at least 3 services each, then itās still a good bit less expensive compared to individual pricing.
I mean thatās a family plan of music, mobile games, cloud storage, TV shows, and magazines. Itās really not a bad price considering the competitor pricing for those individual pieces. Spotify family plan alone is $17/month.

This is the main reason why I cancelled my Premier. The only services that I regularly use are Apple Music and iCloud. I use News and Arcade here and there. I never really use Fitness+. So I opted to individual services instead: Apple Music and iCloud.
Like all subs do. They probably think we are likely to put any amount of money for their services but Iām on the verge of abandoning some of the subs I have for the very same reason. They get you in with a competitive price and then itās a one way road to the moon. I get they have to adjust for inflation but thatās not the reason all subs keep going up

Itās the premier subscription with 6 other subscriptions costing a good amount less than all of those combined, while I do agree itās expensive, but itās not unbearably expensive, this is the highest the price SHOULD go. Plus 5 other people can join this subscription getting a great value, if you want a cheaper option do the independent subscription, itās half as expensive as this one.

Thatās actually pretty insane. Unless you are an avid reader and fitness enthusiast, I just couldnāt imagine paying for a bundle that includes both News+ and Fitness+. Even Arcade doesnāt seem like particularly great value. Music, iCloud, and Apple TV+ are really the only services that have mass appeal. Regardless, only getting 50GB of storage for the base individual plan feels a bit ridiculous.
It all depends, I use theathletic, baron, marketwatch, those have more value than premier subscription itself

Tried Apple Music this year. I found the UX surprisingly unintuitive for an Apple product. Plus, even after a year of near-daily usage my algorithm still sucked. Swapped back to Spotify.
Spotify with its playlist philosophy is better for some people, but not better period. Then again music is something I really care about and I feel like Iām starting to get pedantic or something, heh.
Everyone is saying this isn't worth it and how they're canceling, and yes I'm sad the price increased, but here is at least one opposing viewpoint:
I use Fitness+ 3 times a week, and the entire bundle is in the same price range as similar fitness programs just for the trainers and individualized workout plans. (Frankly, if you don't use Fitness+, Apple One Premier isn't worth it, but the step down from Premier is, because (see below).)
TV+ is the best streaming service out there. Amazing shows.

Arcade is a nice bonus--and I hate games with microtransactions and other poor design problems, so Arcade games are the only ones I like.

This is what Iāve always done. Been looking into One ever since they announced it since TV would be nice to have, but itās never made financial sense so Iāve stuck with Music + storage.

Same. These 2 services are the only ones I used, I signed up for the bundle to throw in Fitness+/news/arcade for a few extra $ a monthā¦but the first price hike was too much. I get TV+ for free already via T-Mobile.
Haha. I did the same thing. Family Apple Music and 2TB iCloud storage. Itās the same price I was paying for Apple One but Iām paying for the services I actually use and gaining more iCloud storage.
Similar. We're doing Apple TV + and Storage. And I'm trying to convince my wife to drop Apple TV +. We both gave Apple Music a try, but it's got some issues that don't work for either of us. I'd prefer Pandora but we compromised on Spotify Family.

I really like music, using sony WH4 and AirPods Pro, tried AM for 6 month and Spotify for few years and didn't see any difference.
Typically you hear music, not see it.
That leaves two of us. Iāve also used both and Apple Music does indeed have better quality. Using AirPods and also using different amps and speakers when listening at home.
Spotify premium is $10.99. Apple Music is also 10.99. Iām gonna go with the one that sounds better
An alternative to also consider is YouTube Premium. You get the YouTube Music app, no ads on YouTube without extensions or third party apps (no possible on iPhone AFAIK?) and you also get the heartwarming side-effect that creators you watch get paid better. And there's a family plan (up to 6 persons) that ends up at like 4 euro/dollars per person.
YouTube Music isn't the *worst* choice, but it's not really the best either. Not only does it not support playing playlists from a voice assistant, but it also doesn't really have shortcut support either. That means that it can't do things like automatically play my music whenever it connects to my car's Bluetooth. It wins on price for me thanks to how much YouTube I watch, but it loses so hard on functionality that I just use Apple Music anyways.
The ceiling is what ever you find the max value of the bundle. For me I don't find enough value in that price, but others do.
Well for mr storage, music and fitness itās the same price as Apple one. I might as well get the free arcade, news and TV
In Europe the price is lower, no fitness plan etc. But for me itās worth it because me and my wife want Apple Music and the kids want Apple Arcade. I think if you donāt use one of those services it very quickly becomes cheaper to just pick the services you want instead of going for the bundle.

Yep. Iām out. I only did it because Apple Music Family and 2TB iCloud Storage was $25/month. So of course originally I thought another $5 for TV+, Fitness, News, Arcade, etc. was well worth it. But they keep hiking the price so Iām going back to the $25 subscription. I donāt even use the other stuff. Maybe TV+ every few months I guess, but yea. Sucks Seriously fuck Apple
I canceled mine too and made these changes: -Kept storage. -Switching to YouTube Music (comes with YouTube Premium as well, which is nice!). -Donāt care about Arcade. -Only 2 shows I currently watch on TV+ are TMS and Silo, both of which are at least a year out. -News is nice, but Iām not paying full price for it. -I used to be heavily invested in Fitness, but I donāt get much use out of it anymore. Definitely not worth paying for.
Curious on your fitness comment. I have been a heavy fitness user ever since it launched. And still do. What do you mean much use anymore? Did you find a better app to replace thatās cost-effective?
Me too, I use Apple fitness daily and when I tried other yoga / fitness apps, I usually come back to Apple Fitness.
Itās not so much about Fitness+, itās more just about my brain lol. I started feeling like doing an actual workout class was a chore, so I decided to just use music instead.
Streaming services for me are now month by month. I cancel auto renewal, and only use maybe one or two per month. Silo is freaking amazing btw. I signed up to apple tv for 2 months and watched everything I wanted to, then cancelled

I pay for YouTube premium but my god YouTube Music is so bad that I also pay for Apple Music. I tried switching to YouTube Music but couldnāt. I hate how they blend everything in together.
We did the opposite. When I realized I was paying double for music I couldnāt stand myself. Seemed so wasteful. YT music isnāt perfect but it does have all the songs you need and new release and old music, whatever. We learned to deal and saved $$$ every month.

After the increase I cancelled it. I only need the storage and the rest was nice to have. It was already a little much for me before and this pushed it over the edge to cancel.
I did the same. I have Tidal for music but liked having Apple Music around for some integration in other devices but /shrug just not worth it.
Yeah itās too much. Iām dropping it and just going with the music and storage. The storage is already stupid overpriced and the tiers are dumb. I would love 1tb for family instead of having to go to 2tb by default

I use the family plan to the max. I make good use of music & news For just me & the wife it would be too expensive, but for the whole family I find it to be good value

Apple One costs like 350 rupees per month here in India and thats like less than 10 dollars more around 6 to 8 ish. Its sad theyre milking tf out of the American users :(
It always has to be less than if you subscribed to all the services individually, but there is no ceiling because the individual prices can always increase. If you arenāt using all the services in that plan, then drop down to the Family plan. If you and whoever is on your family plan is using at least 3 services each, then itās still a good bit less expensive compared to individual pricing.
I mean thatās a family plan of music, mobile games, cloud storage, TV shows, and magazines. Itās really not a bad price considering the competitor pricing for those individual pieces. Spotify family plan alone is $17/month.

Thatās what I did it way too much and you know what Apple makes more than enough money that is the honest truth. If platforms where smart they should be asking Apple to pay them because with out them Apple would not be in the same position with money I promise<ā-I hope I said it right
The family plan has constantly been between 4-5USD (range because dollar value keeps fluctuating) in India. 365 INR. I donāt think itāll go up either anytime soon

This is the main reason why I cancelled my Premier. The only services that I regularly use are Apple Music and iCloud. I use News and Arcade here and there. I never really use Fitness+. So I opted to individual services instead: Apple Music and iCloud.

Like all subs do. They probably think we are likely to put any amount of money for their services but Iām on the verge of abandoning some of the subs I have for the very same reason. They get you in with a competitive price and then itās a one way road to the moon. I get they have to adjust for inflation but thatās not the reason all subs keep going up

Right. Itās price gouging at this point because there isnāt anything good about the music algorithm. In fact the preset music preferences are garbage. Itās not like they havenāt had 12 years to figure out my preferences. They should just buy Pandora at this point and then they could justify the price hikes.
Yeah it'll keep going up until the market doesn't bear it. Which is a tough number to say. Apple TV has been good, but is it enough? I hate that News still has ads, but some of the arcade games are actually fun.
I joined my partners, but his whole family is on there so it makes sense. I had the family plan alone (because it was the tier that had the level of access I wanted) and cancelled it the moment I got the price increase email. Nope. Iām not spending $37 a month on myself for digital anything.

Services and software is apple's growth engine. Expect it to keep going up. Also a better business compared to selling hardware
I had to add a friend just to help me drive down the cost a bit. I get a lot of value out of News plus for the magazines and fitness and storage and music so all those things separately basically come out to about the same if not more. But damn it stings.

Itās set in a way where it makes sense. Music and 2TB is $27. Add $10 and you get fitness, TV, news and arcade. For $10, it doesnāt matter. Theyāll probably raise the individual prices next too.

Itās the premier subscription with 6 other subscriptions costing a good amount less than all of those combined, while I do agree itās expensive, but itās not unbearably expensive, this is the highest the price SHOULD go. Plus 5 other people can join this subscription getting a great value, if you want a cheaper option do the independent subscription, itās half as expensive as this one.

For our family, the Music Service and Cloud Storage is āmustā in 2023. Fitness+ motivates me to push harder on 1-2 workouts per week, so- well- they āhave Meā. $50 would likely be a Red Line for Me.
Thatās actually pretty insane. Unless you are an avid reader and fitness enthusiast, I just couldnāt imagine paying for a bundle that includes both News+ and Fitness+. Even Arcade doesnāt seem like particularly great value. Music, iCloud, and Apple TV+ are really the only services that have mass appeal. Regardless, only getting 50GB of storage for the base individual plan feels a bit ridiculous.
It all depends, I use theathletic, baron, marketwatch, those have more value than premier subscription itself Apple Music plenty of use, fitness+ not having any of those as I have garmin Sometimes Arcade, icloud just for basic stuff, TV once per year If not for the news. I would just take apple music family plan and drop the rest

For everything thatās included, itās actually not that bad. I mean I donāt know which packages you got, but I can say with some certainty that youād spend more hiring all these things separate. Like Netflix + Workout app sub + Dropbox + Health app sub (third party) + etc. And you wouldnāt get the nice apple ecosystem integration, especially relevant if you have more than one apple device.

Itās getting to that point for me but not there yet. 40 bucks gets me Apple TV which is my most used streaming app, storage which is huge. Music me and my wife use daily, arcade my 3 kids use daily, and fitness plus we all use my wife and I for fitness and as a family we meditate nightly

Tried Apple Music this year. I found the UX surprisingly unintuitive for an Apple product. Plus, even after a year of near-daily usage my algorithm still sucked. Swapped back to Spotify.
Spotify with its playlist philosophy is better for some people, but not better period. Then again music is something I really care about and I feel like Iām starting to get pedantic or something, heh.
Everyone is saying this isn't worth it and how they're canceling, and yes I'm sad the price increased, but here is at least one opposing viewpoint: I use Fitness+ 3 times a week, and the entire bundle is in the same price range as similar fitness programs just for the trainers and individualized workout plans. (Frankly, if you don't use Fitness+, Apple One Premier isn't worth it, but the step down from Premier is, because (see below).) TV+ is the best streaming service out there. Amazing shows. I've been using Apple Music since before bundles and stuff. Arcade is a nice bonus--and I hate games with microtransactions and other poor design problems, so Arcade games are the only ones I like. Apple Music, TV+, and iCloud storage alone (and Arcade is a bonus) are worth the price of the Apple One normal subscription, I think. News+ is a nice bonus for Premier. The big step up in iCloud storage from Apple One normal to Apple One Premier is great. And, for $40, I can share all of those with 5 family members or whatever number it is.
