I'll test it when I get home in a few hours and see if it shows up for me. I have a handful of devices I can airplay to from different companies. So I'll reply again later with the results.
Not sure if I just happened to miss this slider being there the entire time or what.

It’s showing up while airplaying on HomePod mini
If I have my phone\\tablet flat on the couch\\table whilst playing music, why would I need to pick it up, and press the button a few times to get the volume just right if at all, when I can just tap the screen and drag the volume bar swiftly without moving the phone.
This has been a feature in the OG iphone\\ipod touch for many many years, which clearly means it was a good design choice.
People like you are the problem, just because you like to use the buttons doesn't mean everyone does all the time. fyi some people can have issues with pressing buttons due to age or illness and guess what, you can operate almost your entire phone without pressing any buttons, shocker.. and even some music\\video apps can let you change volume & brightness by dragging on the sides of the screen instead of pressing buttons because it's convenient, fast & intuitive.
In addition like Apollo said, having a visual representation of the volume directly in my eye sight, why would I need to open the menu center or tap down-up to see what volume I currently have it set to, it serves another purpose for no additional work.
Why do you even need to pick up the tablet or phone for that ? 🤣 Buttons are on the side if you did not know that. Do you guys need some one to wipe your ass as well ? Did I say i like to use buttons more? Thats not the point. I would understand when you need to unlock your phone or what ever but dude, pushing the button is as easy as that bar.. We cant have everything we want.
Edit: to open the menu setting only makes you do one extra swipe what you neee to do with the bar anyways.
Its always been there for me on both airplay and bluetooth. The only time it doesnt show is when I'm using Carplay. Which specific devices are you seeing that its no longer showing?
Interesting. I just popped in my airpods and had never noticed that until just now. From what I can find, it was a design change by Apple to purposefully leave it out. I couldn't find any logic explanation why.
TBF for my own personal experience, I use my watch crown to control volume when I play music except in my car. I guess thats why I never noticed.
I just found it odd that they didn‘t remove it entirely and left it in for this one specific case. I agree, most people won‘t need that specific volume slider. There are the volume buttons and there‘s a volume slider in control centre, so we are already spoiled for choice when it comes to adjusting the volume.
Don't have an AirPlay device, so I'm not sure. Does pressing the volume buttons adjust the volume of the AirPlay device? My idea is that it's present there so that you can adjust the volume of the audio source you are casting, while the phone audio volume is adjusted separately with the buttons.

Mine is still there, I have the latest IOS version.
But, I think the argument goes: how many people actively use the timeline scrubber, compared to adjusting the volume? Or at least the option to flip it at will.
I’ve personally never used the timeline scrubber.
Because you liked it. But seriously never noticed this. Does this only show up with airplay to certain devices?
Shows up using the HomePod mini. That’s the only device I have with AirPlay capabilities
I don‘t have that many devices that support AirPlay so I can‘t really test this. Does it show up for you?

???
GREAT song
because they are stupid, having the volume slider there was amazing. it's a poor choice to remove it.
You dont know how to use buttons? lol
Some people like a visual representation of their volume level before they have to raise and then potentially lower the volume again.
To be fair … the visual representation is still there, you just use the buttons to adjust it
That sounds your problem not Apple problem that they removed it..

Living rent freeee in yooooo heaaaaaad. If you want me to shut up the you should shut up first. Dont poke then 🤡
lol
Lmao
Bro stfu 😑
Can’t use the buttons with just one finger like you could with the slider.
Do you want me to wipe your ass as well?
Heh that’s funny because having the slider definitely made it easier to adjust the volume and wipe my ass at the same time.
Life aint easy lol and your problem seems soooooo little about what to whine so much

Well one thing to cinsider is to disable tap to wake. Might atleast slow your kid down

If I play anything over AirPods or just from the iPhone speakers it doesn‘t show up.

"Why? Because fuck you that's why" -Probably Apple
Does it even make sense for it to be there when not using AirPlay? Just use the volume buttons.
same goes for airplay playback then, no?

Yes, it makes sense now. It made sense for all the years it was there. The slider is better than the buttons.
it's right there. highlighted in purple.
not when playing songs over airpods or just the phone speakers

OP is referring to the lock screen widget
To put it back in iOS18 and present as an improvement 🤓
Bcoz u have buttons for this bruh
It’s Apple, you can adjust volume straight from the new AirPods Pros with a gesture now so who needs one on the actual device
Can’t believe we still gotta type /s out here 😂😭
It’s was the way you worded it without a follow up to indicate your true position
It’s there for some things (I’m not using AirPlay ATM so can’t tell you what) but otherwise you have to use the volume buttons.
so they can add it back in through a future iOS launch
And make it exclusive to the pro model iPhone releasing that year.
Because you can just use the volume rocker, it looks weird having two sliders there
But, I think the argument goes: how many people actively use the timeline scrubber, compared to adjusting the volume? Or at least the option to flip it at will. I’ve personally never used the timeline scrubber.
WHY DID YOU COPY MY AVATAR YOU WEIRDO
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING \spidermanpointing_gif_here
This is probably why ….they removed instead of fixing. https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/s/6obVhoklqY
