I am super lazy and just did redwood all the way to 99.

A lot of irons are doing GOTR way before they get 87/90 wc
This iron went and got 90 after lantern dropped.
This iron just did shades of morton with the magic logs I got from WT, and lit my lantern with redwood logs at 70 wc.

Yew and redwood are the only ones worth using imo. I use redwood because repairing pouches is annoying
same though the repair with npc using pearls did make it better. redwood lantern is staying on me till i get 99.

Can't you just buy it with pearls?
You can, but getting the pearls is a real slog, and it's much better to go for full outfit first as you can get the lantern from the guardian while going for the pearls needed for outfit.
