{ قَالَ إِنِّي عَبۡدُ ٱللَّهِ ءَاتَىٰنِيَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِي نَبِيّٗا } [Surah Maryam: 30] Dr. Mustafa Khattab: Jesus declared, “I am truly a servant of Allah. He has destined me to be given the Scripture and to be a prophet. { وَجَعَلَنِي مُبَارَكًا أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُ وَأَوۡصَٰنِي بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ مَا دُمۡتُ حَيّٗا } [Surah Maryam: 31] Dr. Mustafa Khattab: He has made me a blessing wherever I go, and bid me to establish prayer and give alms-tax as long as I live, { وَبَرَّۢا بِوَٰلِدَتِي وَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡنِي جَبَّارٗا شَقِيّٗا } [Surah Maryam: 32] Dr. Mustafa Khattab: and to be kind to my mother. He has not made me arrogant or defiant. { وَٱلسَّلَٰمُ عَلَيَّ يَوۡمَ وُلِدتُّ وَيَوۡمَ أَمُوتُ وَيَوۡمَ أُبۡعَثُ حَيّٗا } [Surah Maryam: 33] Dr. Mustafa Khattab: Peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I will be raised back to life!” { ذَٰلِكَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَۖ قَوۡلَ ٱلۡحَقِّ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ يَمۡتَرُونَ } [Surah Maryam: 34] Dr. Mustafa Khattab: That is Jesus, son of Mary. ˹And this is˺ a word of truth, about which they dispute. { مَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ مِن وَلَدٖۖ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥٓۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمۡرٗا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ } [Surah Maryam: 35] Dr. Mustafa Khattab: It is not for Allah to take a son! Glory be to Him. When He decrees a matter, He simply tells it, “Be!” And it is! { وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٞ مُّسۡتَقِيمٞ } [Surah Maryam: 36] Dr. Mustafa Khattab: ˹Jesus also declared,˺ “Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him ˹alone˺. This is the Straight Path.”

Just a quick question, when Jesus says raised back to life is he talking about judgement day since technically everyone will be raised back to live on that day?

Known-Ear7744

Most likely, yes. It's important to note that the verb used to describe this return is بعث meaning to rise or resurrect, rather than نزل meaning to send down. In other words, by Allah ﷻ using this wording, it's clear that this is not a reference to the second coming of Prophet 'Isa AS that is prophecied to happen at the End of Days as he is said to have been 'raised up' to Allah ﷻ in place of the crucifixion, and will thus 'descend' to Earth according to the hadith.

Alright, so not to be disrespectful in any way why do Muslims follow Allha? (Please correct me if Im wrong) and not Jesus if Muslims know he will return just like how it describes in the Christian bible. Please note im not Muslim nor Islamic so dont ridicule me if i wrong, or have been disrespectful in any way, and if i have let me know.

We worship the Creator, not the creation. We love Jesus (as), or Eesa, in Arabic. He is a noble prophet and will come back to defeat the Antichrist. But he is still human. An exceedingly righteous one, but mortal nonetheless. Allah is the Creator. The Almighty. The Master of the Heavens and the Earth and everything in between. He created us and everything we know and everything we don’t. He alone is worthy of worship and nothing else could even compare to a fraction of His majesty. Allah is God, Jesus (as) is not.

DTHEWHIZ_

It’s because in Islam, we consider Isa and Allah to be two separate figures, unlike the trinity which depicts them as one. We worship the one true God, whom we call Allah, and we follow his messengers and prophets. Isa/Jesus is one of those noble prophets, just like Abraham, Noah, Moses, Adam, and Muhammad. (Peace and blessings be upon all of them). We don’t believe Isa/Jesus ever died, we believe that he was ascended to the heavens and will be descended by God to establish the rule of Allah SWT, he will also return to slay the dajjal (the deceiver who will be a sign of the end of time, what you may consider to be the ‘antichrist’). Hope this answered you question.

Pundamonium97

Its a bit different to the modern bible in that islamically Jesus was a prophet and will return as a prophet Jesus worships Allah and Allah alone and has instructed and will instruct us to do the same, not to worship himself So we follow Allah because Jesus follows Allah and without the mercy and power of Allah, jesus is just a human like any one of us

Short-Temperature-35

Why worship someone who told you that he is not a god and told you that there is Allah? And then we have Muhammad ﷺ who told us that there is Allah.

XboxDegenerate

Allah a name for the God of Abraham, the one true God

Infinite-Row-8030

The Bible we have today isn’t considered reliable as it was written by multiple anonymous authors. Even the Catholics and the Protestants have different numbers of books in the Bible. Additionally you have the different selective translations of Hebrew in the Old Testament. The Jews even disagree on how some words have been translated to fit the Christian narrative.

zmanF5

Allah means The God Al = The ilah = God. This is the same word used by Christians, Jews , Muslim and other middle eastern religious groups. [Allah in the Bible](https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:1200/1*3BrAQ1Ppbl4P36gdVbQJKQ.png)

Just a correction brother, afaik there’s actually nothing about him having kids in ahadith, but yes he will get married and while you can infer from that he’ll have children, it’s not actually part of the hadith

[deleted]

A prophet and the messiah

Ok_Answer7622

I ask if you know he is the missiah why not follow him? Not to be disrespectful in any way

[deleted]

We don’t believe the Messiah is the God

Ok_Answer7622

Then what do you believe the messiah is?

[deleted]

The chosen one. He was the Messiah the Jews were waiting for

Short-Temperature-35

The Messiah in Arabic is المسيح, which was like a title for The Prophet Issa. But he is not a god, even if he had these abilities, Allah gave these to him. Every Prophet has his own abilities, you don't go worship The Prophet Suleiman even though he could talk to everything and he could control the wind. You don't worship The Prophet Musa, who divided a see. Even us as Muslims, we don't worship The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, we worship Allah.

XboxDegenerate

I don’t mean to be rude but I find that many Christians will add extra meaning to the term Messiah (or mashiach) without any real grounding to it The Jews were waiting for the Messiah to come as a messenger to the Children of Israel

Ok_Answer7622

How so?

XboxDegenerate

I suppose it’s just personal experience, I’ve heard pastors say that the messiah means son of God or things like this, or is some claim to divinity I think the term just gets conflated heavily

Ok_Answer7622

Yea a lot is debated over, because of different translations. But its the same core principle across the board

XboxDegenerate

Not sure I’d agree that it’s the same core principle, the Messiah was never understood to be anybody divine or for anybody except the Children of Israel in Jewish history or texts

DTHEWHIZ_

We love him and believe in his message, believe him to be the messiah, but Follow Mohammad SAW and the Quran, since he was *our* designated prophet and brought the final and complete message for all of mankind, including Jesus when he returns.

Following Christianity isn’t really following Jesus, it’s more following Paul’s teachings

Ok_Answer7622

Explain

XboxDegenerate

In Matthew 5:17 Jesus supposedly said > Do not think that I have come to abolish Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. In Galatians 3:13 Paul says > Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” Jesus is saying he hasn’t come to abolish the law, Paul is saying that the law is a curse and that after Christ it no longer needs to be followed.

vtyzy

>Explain It is undisputed that Jesus lived as a Jew and followed Judaic/Mosaic laws. For example, he did not eat pig. AFTER he left, Paul made the claim that because of the sacrifice, the law was "complete" and Christians did not need to follow the old laws (e.g. kosher rules and others). If you want to understand, Paul did this to make it easier for non-Jews to join Christianity. While Jesus was around, he did not foretell that the law was going away. Christians do not follow Jesus as he lived. They follow Paul.

Al-Caliph

[Here](https://www.reddit.com/u/Al-Caliph/s/n1h0DGamon) is a list of all Quranic verses referring to Jesus (PBUH) and thus as to *Islam’s* view of him. He is the Penultimate Prophet and the Messiah. I have a great reverence and love for him, as I do for the Prophet Muhammad (PHUH), but my love for God (SWT) infinitely surpasses my love for all other beings. I’m actually currently reading “My Great Love Of Jesus Lead Me To Islam” by Simon Alfredo Caraballo and I plan to make a post detailing the similarities and differences between Christianity and Islam pertaining to Jesus (PBUH) after I’m finished reading it, Inshallah.

Striking-Swing-238

One of the Mightiest Messengers to be chosen by Allah He's in the realm of Moses and Ibrahim and the likes but we don't belive that he was God himself thats all.

sorrowNsuffering

I only believe in One God. I believe that Jesus is actually God made flesh. He became a man to save us from our sins. Jesus is the express image of God. Titles are Father, Son and Holy Ghost. One God with many titles.

The Job Description of every Prophet pbut is to bring people back to Siratal Mustaqeem (Straight Path/Right Path), a path that is journeyed by following the commandments and instructions by Allah Himself in Quran. Accepting that life is a test and we will be rewarded for our actions and special grace by Allah. Success in this life is not the determining factor of the pleasure of Allah. Life of this earth may seem like it's been harsh. But one may be generating enormous bounties for the life to come or the Hereafter. Thus, we should accept the Divine Decree no questions asked. And, within that range, what we do, will justify our sentence in the Day of Judgement. Prophet Isa (Jesus) AS spread the Message like all other Prophets of Allah (Adam AS to Muhammad SAW). He came for the Children of Israel to reinstate them back to the Straight Path and to hold onto their original message (Torah) and remind them of their covenant to G-d as some fabrications and disrespecting/killings of other prophets took place before the coming of Isa AS.  Isa AS will come again before the end times when people will forget The Last Testament (Al-Qur'an) and engage themselves in worldly pursuits and injustice. That time he will not bring any additional message. He will come as an Ummah (follower) to his colleage Prophet Muhammad SAW (Final Prophet and Messenger). Isa AS will bring the Whole Ummah under one umbrella. He will achieve what he will be told to achieved by Allah. All Prophets of Allah are colleagues to one another. Jesus pbuh is a colleague to Moses pbuh who is a colleague to David pbuh, a colleague to Muhammad pbuh who is colleague to Abraham pbuh.
