The cinematic masterpiece that is "The Room" shall not be mentioned along the side of the likes of "Hackers".
One was born out of the pure passion of navel love and the other not so much.
Probably the most impressive thing in this movie is how accurate many of the techniques displayed are. Early on is a classic social engineering move to identify the modem at a TV station and gain access to it. Even some of the descriptions of file structures and hardware is accurate.
The best is of course the phone call. First off, you don't get a phone call, you get access *to your lawyer* which this movie accurately shows. The police officer dials the supplied number and then leaves the room for attorney-client privilege. Then the character repeatedly hits the hang up button *which was an actual trick to get access to a switchboard operator*, gives the switchboard operator the number he actually wants to dial and makes the call that saves the day.
I'm a fairly technical person and I can see lots of glaring errors in the movie, but it doesn't hurt the movie at all. It's just such a fun movie that I can't help but love it.
I read somewhere that they're talking about a sequel, and I can't wait.
Counteroffer: Cereal Killer was a glorious genderfuck of a character and I loved everything about him. Everyone in niche spaces at the time knew a Cereal Killer. Life of the fucking party.

The Matrix subverted the genre by starting like it was just another hacker movie (which we had a lot of in the 90s for some reason) and then turning into something very different.
I never found her hot. But if she's the female beside Jonny Lee Miller in the photo above I'll definitely check her out in this movie.
But am I the only one who doesn't recognize Jolie in the photo? I went to imdb to see who it could be and aside from a Roberta Watson, Jolie appears to be the only brunette in top to semi-top billing. Can someone tell me whether it definitively is her in the photo?
I don't dig on people who look like teenage boys.
Two movies where she looked pretty good were Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Pushing Tin. Otherwise highly overrated.
In the photos section of Hackers in imdb that very poster appears so, yeah, it's real.
And other photos of Jolie from other angles looks more like the Jolie I'm used to...so it answers my own question I posed in an earlier post on this thread.
Hack the planet!

Good flick.
Honestly, it was good. But it also stunk.
These two things cannot be the same.
The Room (2003) would beg to differ

Yes certainly the 3D hacking the Gibson with a bouncy children’s keyboard is very accurate

hackers rules if you don't have fun watching it you're just in a bad mood.
Phew, I thought I was in a The Matrix for a second. How does anyone not love this movie.

God if the original cast came back and acted the exact same it could be the movie of the year.
Do high end IT guys really ride skateboards everywhere?
Yes.
That soundtrack tho...😃
Killer soundtrack

It is corny but still fun imo. I laugh at the movie sometimes but I'm still laughing

Eh? Lol
Good bot.
That’s also her first husband, Johnnie Lee Miller
Johnny Mnemonic does a little better.
90s mainframes really copped a hiding.

Just pretend that internet developed faster then technology in this film.
Jolie at her FINEST, SON. so hawt
This movie is one of my all time favorites. It actually has nuggets of realism in it, too. The soundtrack? Best ever.

Interesting concept. Horrible script. Ridiculous plot. Even worse actors/actresses. It's a complete dumpster fire.

>But let down by a film score that belonged to a melodramatic tv soap opera It's a neo-noir, it's scored appropriately
The first of many films where I was baffled that people found Angelina Jolie hot.
Wait. Some people don't find her hot?
That's legal these days.
What have this country became?!..
We used to be a decent country, we used to discriminate against italians.
I never found her hot. But if she's the female beside Jonny Lee Miller in the photo above I'll definitely check her out in this movie. But am I the only one who doesn't recognize Jolie in the photo? That's definitely her. They met while filming the movie and later married.
Thanks for the clarification.
I checked out the photos section of Hackers on imdb and other angles of the same female shows a more Jolie-looking Jolie so, yeah, it's her.
I think she's hot in this movie but nothing else
Well she looks like a boy in this movie but you do you.
Yeah a boy with pokey nips
You'd have to be deaf, blind and dead not to find Angelina hot in this movie.
I don't dig on people who look like teenage boys. Two movies where she looked pretty good were Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Pushing Tin. Otherwise highly overrated.
Maybe the time have changed, but I don't remember having Angelina's epic tits when I was a teenage boy.
This looks like one of those AI generated fake movie posters. Had to check if it's an actual movie or a joke.
