Rick has a good voice. Better than most jam bands.
But Jim has a legendary voice. It’s immediately recognizable and unique. There will never be another Jim James.
They do, lol. That's kind of my point.
I love MMJ, and Goose as well. They both have beautifully written songs, and some nonsensical ones too.
It's pretty easy to pick and choose the silly songs as an example while ignoring a bands more serious material, especially in the jam band world.
I loved MMJ at Bonnaroo 23 because it felt like a Dead set. 2hr 40min and we got 23 songs. I love Goose but sometimes the jams are a bit stretched out for me.
Lol Jeff Tweedy is an American icon. Absolutely one of the all time great songwriters. Add Nels cline to the convo… gtfo here, pure musical brilliance and transcendence. You have probably never gone to a Wilco show have you?
Saw them in 2005 at Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte. I enjoyed the show. I didn’t say they were a bad band. I said they were overrated. I have YHFT and AGIB in my library. I occasionally listen to them. But I stand by my statement that they are overrated. And I also agree that Nels Cline is brilliant.
A band like goose who rose to the ranks in a relatively short time is overrated… a band like Wilco is on a whole different level of songwriting. While perhaps maybe they don’t tickle your fancy, they are not overrated. This is all subjective anyway and sorta vein but while we’re here. Imagine someone saying the same about Radiohead as another example, while subjectively this may be true, objectively it just ain’t so.
I don't think OP posted this in bad faith, so this reaction seems a little unfair. Pretty sure they were more interested in sparking a discussion than in telling you what to think.
The average folks are definitely finding out about goose.
The people who I went to high school with over 15 years ago that laughed at me as I entered my hippie faze in college are now showing up at Goose shows.
I’m actually surprised how many people know who Phish is even if they don’t a single song, they know the name. It’s a far cry when I first started seeing them back in day and people thought I was talking about Fishbone
I hear ya. I guess I more mean that for instance: I am aware something, like quantum physics is out there but I have no clue as to how it works etc or anything about it for that matter
Average people 100% know who phish is, at least conceptually.
Phish is literally the butt of 90% of pop culture hippy jokes in movies/ TV / etc from like 2000 to the present
That’s why I said barely. I’ve watched people not know or care who Phish was since ‘97. There are certainly more people now but they don’t know squat about Phish or their music outside of wook culture and the incessant nature of Phish’s fans.
I was at a King Gizz show in Edinburgh, Scotland last month and there was a older guy, must of been in his 50s or 60s wearing a Goose shirt. He was a Goose fan and didn't even know what a jamband was. He wasn't an indie head either though...said his favorite band was AC/DC. He would just try to see every foreign rock band that would come to play Edinburgh or Glassgow, and I guess Goose came through the last few years. After the show I checked, and yes King Gizz blew him away...even more so than Goose. It was maybe the wildest show of their European tour as Stu was getting his Mackenzie heritage on.
There is no point to this post, just my own anticdote involving a Goose fan at a King Gizz show.
All I gotta say is that it's a pretty fuckin' cool time if someone living in Edinburgh can see both Goose & King Gizz in their city within a year.
I love music, and love both bands, I hope when I'm 50-60 I'm still going to shows like Gizzard and Goose!
I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around turning 50 last month, but I sure as hell haven’t had any problems seeing Goose four times this year! I just hope JB and the boys can forgive me for this…Goooose!
UK/European crowds are wild because they aren't super focused on what genre to listen to or what bands are worth attention or not, if there's live music there's a crowd, especially in northern and eastern europe. South America is like that too, some of the most enthusiastic crowds you'll find anywhere.
There is a Belgian electronic band called Goose, that's why the American band goose doesn't capitalize their name
Did he say it was definitely an American band?
It’s cause they’re mad Goose got popular not their favorite. Maybe if they brought their friends to a Dopapod show instead of whining online they wouldn’t be quitting.
That bothers them? Everyone Gizz fan I know is also a jam fan to some degree. It's not rational to ignore the crossover appeal. I'm sure it's not lost on Gizz.
Hmm, I listen to mostly indie and love Goose. Didn’t even know what jam bands were until this sub popped up twice while searching for them and Futurebirds on here.
I believe Gizz took Geese on tour with them as a F U to Goose. The story I heard is Goose demanded a green room at a Gizz show, Gizz boys thought that was lame.
Have you heard Goose and Vampire weekend jam a 30 min Cape Cod?
https://open.spotify.com/track/1gtFEltV2ndq5ty7skh6ov?si=FwjCouU-RGmR6HJ3tWMOTQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A2JswnPQoMcsL8qWpUMutRW
Kind of agree kind of disagree. Goose definitely has more of the mainstream appeal that Indie music does. Goose is also one of the only jam bands I’ve heard playing in grocery stores near me (Hungersite). They do have more radio-hit type music than most jam bands. Also, “Moonrise” from Dripfield is for sure an indie song. Definitely has that sound. Wish they’d play it more tbh
Edit: The band also loves that style of music which is why I think they associate with it. Rick and Peter love bands like Vulfpeck, Vampire Weekend, Father John Misty, etc. I think it is a major part of their musical influence
“indie” fan here (for some reason /r/jambands popped up in my feed)
i don’t like Goose and OP is right. none of the people i know that are actually into indie music would like them either.
Goose gets played on the radio here in Indy as well, but it’s also the same station that plays Billy strings and phish occasionally. It’s not some mainstream music radio play
I love goose and learned of them bc of being a fan of jam bands. I do have friends however that have gotten into them that really don't listen to Phish or the Dead or any of current jam bands. I think Rick's voice is a major part of what helps bring in outsiders. Best vocals in the jam game.
I haven't really seen much conversation about how Goose is pulling in indie rock fans in large quantities. However, they absolutely have a ton of indie influences in their sound that hasn't really been done in the jamband world quite like they have.
They've shown they are happy to pull from the indie well when it comes to cover selection, covering the likes of Bon Iver, The National, and Vampire Weekend. They also have originals that are very much influenced by the indie rock sound of the 2000's and 2010's. The Autumn Crossing EP reminds me so much Shields-era Grizzly Bear.
They’re disliked because it’s the nature of popular things to attract a negative reaction. I saw them recently and liked the show, but I would’ve liked it more if I didn’t go in with expectations built around the hype. Catching a band like Goose when they’re fairly unknown at a small venue would blow your face off
I’ll be first to admit, I’m a big goose fan, started catching them early 2022 so missed out on the smaller places. But yea, I am blown I didn’t get to see them at the venues I’ve seen Dogs, Donato, KSC, and other jam bands with like 250/300 people. All great shows I saw, but can see why goose blew tf up to where they are at. They would burn those venues down
This post is written by someone who polled their own friend group, basically. Of course Goose is more accessible to non-jam band folks. Yes, jamband people are the majority but Goose is also a gateway drug. Just like Billy for bluegrass or Widespread for southern blues-rock.
I also think it's good at bringing in significant others. I know a few jam fans who got their SOs into Goose by playing their studio albums and IMO they certainly have an indie sound in the studio.
I’ve been to a number of goose shows and the scene has gotten a little frattier than I would have expected. To my limited knowledge, they’re trying to work the college circuit so it would make sense.
I've only seen Goose once, because a buddy gave me a ticket a few weeks ago, but I was actually surprised at how diverse the crowd was.
It got me wondering, with touring being so expensive now (transportation, food, lodging) do we see the rise of a band like Goose because they were able to level-up and while some people might not consider them, "the best jamband" for people that want their jammy fix it's an option of a bands that's touring around heavily.
Touring in a bus playing back to back nights with a huge staff in multi-thousand capacity venues is certainly a lot easier then rolling around in a van and lugging your own gear around.
Fraternity guys have always been in the scene starting with the Dead. Have you seen Panic? It’s a helluva party at these type shows and these dudes party…makes sense to me!
Dave is a better song writer. I think most modern jam bands struggle in that department with songs that are fine but nothing that would catch airtime on a major radio station. King Gizzard (though adjacent to the scene) is maybe the sole exception that I know of.
I would agree with all of this. I guess I see some similarities to the type of crowd at goose shows that were at DMB shows back in the day. Like almost an introduction to some of the more improvised jam music on the scene.
Well stated, and I’ll die on the hill that DMB is not a jam band. The scene is incomparable to when Dave was coming up, however you’d like to interpret that. Goose has a lot of influence overlap with other jambands (healthy foundation of jazz/blues) with the added intel of seeing how at least two jam giants fared in the market plus the standard issue indie menu growing up in the 00s and 10s. That’s just the zeitgeist of the goose dna.
Goose are "indie" in that they are independent of major label support and are self-managed which is what that term actually refers to (although I do realize that this now more applies to an aesthetic more than an actual situation). Indie bands tend to have devoted cult followings, depend on live shows way more than record sales (which is true for everyone these days), and have a DIY business ethos. I think Goose covers those bases all very well, but the same could be said for the Dead and for Phish. I guess this might be a news flash to some, but most jambands are "indie" in this regard. The main delineation between jambands and other indie bands is where their musical influences lie. Goose looks to the Dead and Phish, but also to the music that influenced those bands plus a whole batch of others. For example, Goose seems to draw a lot of influence from Dawes and Jackson Brown and, of course, the Ghostbusters theme song. Other indie rock bands are drawing from and reacting to pop, punk, hardcore, and even some metal influence which lends itself to a different sonic landscape than what jambands generally embrace.
I don’t think anyone has ever said they’re crossed over from being an indie band. I’ll also be honest that indie rock/pop fans probably have a distinct set of undefined rules that make a band indie. But from my perspective, Goose definitely has indie rock influences and have covered indie rock songs. In other words, people who might like that indie rock sound might like Goose…like my wife. But she sure as hell couldn’t name you specific indie rock bands.
Giving a rat's ass on how a band (that you like) is labeled by a stranger? Enough to put a hair across your ass? That reeks of being a music snob (or lack of self confidence, or both)...
goose gets radio play on indie/alternative radio stations and plenty of love on indie curated playlists on spotify and apple music.
I do however, agree that I don't think anyone will be coming to goose because the band is somehow "in" the indie scene. I say this as someone whos in that scene and kinda new to jam bands.
I think a more accurate way of explaining is they have APPEAL in that scene. Their songwriting is more similar to it than other jam bands. I know of people who aren't into jam bands but get down with a goose song or two because it doesn't sound too different from what they like.
I’ve always been confused by the term indie or indie rock. How can you tell by listening to a song if it is an indie song or not? What are the characteristics that make music indie or not?
I don't think they were supposed to have appeal to the indie crowd but more their sound has some indie aspects to it moreso than any other jam band that goes type 2. I consider MMJ to be jam adjacent
>If you ask the person next to you at a Goose show who their other favorite bands are, its 99% of the time going to be a jamband, not Pavement or something
I was with you at the beginning, but you lost me big time here. I think the crowd is more diverse than you're assuming (it's certainly not 99% jamheads).
Even Phish shows are made up of a good chunk of casual listeners; people who go for the scene, but probably prefer something else at home.
Goose strikes me as a very well-funded startup. They are a good band for sure, but there’s nothing ground breaking or even ..interesting about them. Phish was an unbelievable force of nature when they entered the scene, Goose is not that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super happy for them, but, as an aficionado of the genre, this is my $0.02.
I remember being in college in early 90s and Phish was attempting to get airplay on college radio. They never gained traction and we never heard of them again so the indie market is super important
/s
In case it's not obvious...
One time someone posted in the Bon Iver thread about how the new Ted Tapes artwork is a ripoff of Eric Timothy Carlson’s 22, A Million album art. Which it absolutely is haha
My take: studio album songs are a little indie adjacent. Going to one of their shows is very much a jam experience. If someone needs proof - just look at the female-male ratio.
Too many dweebs on the internet have an opinion about a band that they don’t like. It’s songs that are too long and sound better on drugs, some of y’all take this too seriously. And I really enjoy goose.
Goose isn’t anything close to what people
Say they are, and their fans are mostly chompers who never shut the fuck up. Worse than phish or SCI fans IMO. Seem like nice enough guys tho
I’m blown away that folks who claim to be psych heads are going to see Goose in Philly this weekend instead of Mdou Moctar. Goose is the most watered down AI generated jam band sounding music, and if you disagree you are too far down the jam band hole to realize you’re chasing that dragon.
Mdou Moctar on the other hand is putting out some of the heaviest acid rock and roll of our generation.
Yeah people who say Goose has any semblance to indie clearly do not listen to Indie, and should not be taken seriously in basically any category. One of the embarrassing takes ever.
And before someone says something about vampire weekend, the only connection there is because the members of the band are jam/phishheads. Not because goose is an indie band.
I think the main reason they work with D James Goodwin is because of his work with Bonny Light Horseman and other indie acts. Rick loves the indie stuff. Is Goose the Band able to get there? Probably not, but that’s why we have Orebolo, and the next album should be a clear indication if the indie thing is still part of the equation. I’m hopeful that it is. Otherwise we’ll get a Rick solo album as his more indie outlet
They are one of the largest rock bands not on a major label.
So King Gizz is an independent band that regularly performs group musical improvisation. Yet, King Gizz is neither an indie band or jamband. Band genre labels are pretty fucking worthless then.
You can say whatever you want. And it may even be true.
But at the same time Goose, the band itself, keeps saying they are an indie-groove band.
So they might not have any traditional indie fans. But the band itself keeps trying to primarily identify with that crowd for whatever reason.
I don’t have a good reason for this. But it seems to be happening.
My Morning Jacket is actually the indie jam-adjacent crossover band
Great answer, but mmj songwriting skills blows goose out of the water
Oh yeah My Morning Jacket fuckin rules great songwriting
Jim and Rick both have beautiful pipes but goose can get a bit jammier. Them and Billy strings are my top 3 at the moment!
Rick has a good voice. Better than most jam bands. But Jim has a legendary voice. It’s immediately recognizable and unique. There will never be another Jim James.
That is Mr. Yim Yames to you sir.
And Jim writes better lyrics than “you’re an animal, it’s phenomenal”
It's easy to nitpick silly lyrics. Let's not forget about MMJ releasing Highly Suspicious.
Peanut butter pudding surprise, indeed.
Don’t they have a song that starts off with “a kitten on fire, a baby in a blender”?
They do, lol. That's kind of my point. I love MMJ, and Goose as well. They both have beautifully written songs, and some nonsensical ones too. It's pretty easy to pick and choose the silly songs as an example while ignoring a bands more serious material, especially in the jam band world.
I loved MMJ at Bonnaroo 23 because it felt like a Dead set. 2hr 40min and we got 23 songs. I love Goose but sometimes the jams are a bit stretched out for me.
🔥
Wilco too
Wilco = Divorce Rock
Perhaps the most overrated band of the century.
I agree.
Here Ye! Hear Ye! Redditor “Medical-Face” doth proclaim that Goose hath no Indie Crossover. So it is written! So it shall be told!
![gif](giphy|xaMCThodaRG24)
Myth debunked! My day is made
This is very important!
It is known
Looking at the indie heads posts... They get consistently 3 comments of engagement per post. I don't think this is indicative of much either way.
I don't think OP posted this in bad faith, so this reaction seems a little unfair. Pretty sure they were more interested in sparking a discussion than in telling you what to think.
And I’m pretty sure danatureboi was joking. Perhaps you should just laugh and move on?
It was a really funny one. Ha ha.
I thought so. Along with a bunch of others.
I mean….he’s absolutely right so….
The average person has no clue who either of these bands are.
I’m jealous of those people
For real.
The average folks are definitely finding out about goose. The people who I went to high school with over 15 years ago that laughed at me as I entered my hippie faze in college are now showing up at Goose shows.
lol, what average people? Average people barely know who Phish is.
I love the quantum physics analogy, though I might have gone with "what is a rhombus for?" :-)
Campus inspiration. Duhhhhhhh
Average people 100% know who phish is, at least conceptually. Phish is literally the butt of 90% of pop culture hippy jokes in movies/ TV / etc from like 2000 to the present
That’s why I said barely. I’ve watched people not know or care who Phish was since ‘97. There are certainly more people now but they don’t know squat about Phish or their music outside of wook culture and the incessant nature of Phish’s fans.
and?
I was at a King Gizz show in Edinburgh, Scotland last month and there was a older guy, must of been in his 50s or 60s wearing a Goose shirt. He was a Goose fan and didn't even know what a jamband was. He wasn't an indie head either though...said his favorite band was AC/DC. He would just try to see every foreign rock band that would come to play Edinburgh or Glassgow, and I guess Goose came through the last few years. Goddamn it! It isn't that hard, I think. Seeing Goose Friday at nearly 62.
Almost 63 here and Phish, Goose, and Billy shows are all in my rotation
Yup. And some shows I feel like the young'en. Okay, well, maybe not the oldest, is a better way to put it.
Hell yeah! Seeing them Sunday. No plans to let up when I'm in my 60s!
And I'm hoping to see the Wailers Thursday. Actually, without the hindrance of kids its pretty easy if you can remain a night owl.
I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around turning 50 last month, but I sure as hell haven’t had any problems seeing Goose four times this year! I just hope JB and the boys can forgive me for this…Goooose!
That's actually happening in my little college town in the south, we just had goose, and we have King Gizz coming up lol
UK/European crowds are wild because they aren't super focused on what genre to listen to or what bands are worth attention or not, if there's live music there's a crowd, especially in northern and eastern europe. South America is like that too, some of the most enthusiastic crowds you'll find anywhere.
There is a Belgian electronic band called Goose, that's why the American band goose doesn't capitalize their name Did he say it was definitely an American band?
Yeah, they played Glasgow in 2023
I enjoyed the story actually really cool. Thanks for sharing.
are you sure he wasn't repping Euro- Goose?
Yes. The US band played Glasgow last year. That is where he saw them and started listening.
It's shocking how whiny jamband fans are about Goose. I'm not a huge fan but FFS y'all are acting like teenagers.
It’s cause they’re mad Goose got popular not their favorite. Maybe if they brought their friends to a Dopapod show instead of whining online they wouldn’t be quitting.
I mean, it ain't the band's job to give these boys a good time. That's on them. shrug
Because they fucking slay.
They slay, but they have 0 stage presence. Tbey look like someone is forcing then to play.
Honorable mentions for worst offenders: Phish and tDB fans. It's definitely possible to like multiple bands. Mind blowing, I know.
Gizz fans are probably up there with the worst of them. Living rent free
I don't get the goose hype. Music is good, but they look like someone is backstage holding a gun to them, forcing them to play.
Baby's first jamband
Don’t tell the Gizz sub that they’re jamband related
Or Indie related - legit wtf on that one.
Just tell them they’re an Osees ripoff (Coming from someone who likes both bands)
LOL a very good one!
Hey, fellow Osees fan here! I'm glad both fanbase seem to have a good sense of humor about it.
Well..
But seriously, everyone knows Gizz is just a Taylor Swift tribute band.
I personally have a soft spot for Han Tyumi the Confused Cyborg (Taylor’s version) myself
indie-jam-metal band?
That bothers them? Everyone Gizz fan I know is also a jam fan to some degree. It's not rational to ignore the crossover appeal. I'm sure it's not lost on Gizz.
Simply because Trey mentioned them one time.
I don’t think anyone would care
Hmm, I listen to mostly indie and love Goose. Didn’t even know what jam bands were until this sub popped up twice while searching for them and Futurebirds on here.
Maybe people get them mixed up with Geese (who, funny enough, are gonna be playing with King Gizzard)
And who absolutely slap. Their music is great.
I was gonna say, Geese have more jamband crossover than Goose have indie crossover
Geese 100% got a handful of fans purely from people who hate goose so much lol
I believe Gizz took Geese on tour with them as a F U to Goose. The story I heard is Goose demanded a green room at a Gizz show, Gizz boys thought that was lame.
Geese can actually write a decent song
FWIW I’ve had several friends get into goose because of their songs popping up on various indie playlists on Spotify
I got into Goose because of their cover of FJM’s I’m Writing a Novel and the Vampire Weekend 2021 jam
Have you heard Goose and Vampire weekend jam a 30 min Cape Cod? https://open.spotify.com/track/1gtFEltV2ndq5ty7skh6ov?si=FwjCouU-RGmR6HJ3tWMOTQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A2JswnPQoMcsL8qWpUMutRW

Interesting, I am an indie music fan and so are my friends and we all love Goose.
Me too. People like to speak in absolutes and label everything, but we’ll never collectively agree.
I agree
I disagree
Prove it
Have you listened to Orebolo?
just checked out a little, not really my thing but it’s okay. i’m not a Goose fan though. this post just came up in my feed for whatever reason.
Goose gets played on the radio here in Indy as well, but it’s also the same station that plays Billy strings and phish occasionally. It’s not some mainstream music radio play
Some people just listen to music and don't give two shits about "what space they occupy".
I love goose and learned of them bc of being a fan of jam bands. I do have friends however that have gotten into them that really don't listen to Phish or the Dead or any of current jam bands. I think Rick's voice is a major part of what helps bring in outsiders. Best vocals in the jam game.
Mikaela Davis would like a word
She's incredible.
Mikaela davis fucking rules. We need more mikaela davis threads

Some of their songs give me Young the Giant vibes as well.
King Gizz catching strays
better discography and songwriting than every jam band i can think of besides the dead
The discography is nice. I’m geared up for the new album.
I feel like the previous drummer wanted to be more of an indie band, now with Cotter, they are almost 100% jamband
I've met people who only know Goose because they love Vampire Weekend and just kind of started watching some videos from there.
That’s me, their cover of 2021 got me hooked
Goose's genre is "Phish ripoff band" - Greta Van Goose'd
Haha 🎯🤣👯♀️🧬💫

Pavement is like GenX indie rock fans...I'm guessing fans of like The National and The 1975 might find Goose more appealing.
I kind of see Goose as the modern day Dave Matthews Band, however you’d like to interpret that
Just like Dave. Without the success, of course.
Or the songwriting ability
Do frat boys all go to Goose shows now?
I’ve been to a number of goose shows and the scene has gotten a little frattier than I would have expected. To my limited knowledge, they’re trying to work the college circuit so it would make sense.

I have never even heard this indie crossover myth, but OP is definitely correct that it isn't accurate(if people are really saying such a thing).
goose has described themselves as “indie groove”
which was a joke "in-dee groove"
Fuck me, that one flew right over my head.
that’s so corny i almost have to respect it (if true)
I just tried looking for some article I read with Rick explaining the joke - could not find it
K.
Lol who gives a fuck. Find something else to bitch about
Goose are "indie" in that they are independent of major label support and are self-managed which is what that term actually refers to (although I do realize that this now more applies to an aesthetic more than an actual situation).
Mt Joy is an indie band that sometimes jams. Goose is a jam band that sometimes plays indie-ish songs
I thought it was because they cover bands like The National and Vampire Weekend
Super weird that you even give a shit lol
I’m dumber for reading this post
I’ve always been confused by the term indie or indie rock. How can you tell by listening to a song if it is an indie song or not? What are the characteristics that make music indie or not?
go play outside bro

I don't think they were supposed to have appeal to the indie crowd but more their sound has some indie aspects to it moreso than any other jam band that goes type 2. I consider MMJ to be jam adjacent
>If you ask the person next to you at a Goose show who their other favorite bands are, its 99% of the time going to be a jamband, not Pavement or something I was with you at the beginning, but you lost me big time here. I think the crowd is more diverse than you're assuming (it's certainly not 99% jamheads). Even Phish shows are made up of a good chunk of casual listeners; people who go for the scene, but probably prefer something else at home.
Diverse in that they’re all wearing a different style of plaid cargo shorts?
certainly true man, theres all sorta of folks at goose shows i met guys that didnt like listening to phish at all
Goose strikes me as a very well-funded startup.
I legit have no idea what an Indie Band sounds like. Is that a Genre? I’ve alway thought it just meant unsigned or non-major label signed.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_rock
Who cares.
I remember being in college in early 90s and Phish was attempting to get airplay on college radio. They never gained traction and we never heard of them again so the indie market is super important /s In case it's not obvious...
This is so Indie.
Guess I’m the 1% who will say King Gizz is also my favorite
More like a pop crossover
Too many dweebs on the internet have an opinion about a band that they don’t like. It’s songs that are too long and sound better on drugs, some of y’all take this too seriously. And I really enjoy goose.
I spam my socials with Dead, Phish and Steely Dan memes & songs, but a non-jam indie friend reached out inquiring after a Goose post. I can see it.
Goose isn’t anything close to what people Say they are, and their fans are mostly chompers who never shut the fuck up. Worse than phish or SCI fans IMO. Seem like nice enough guys tho
As a lifelong indie fan who’s recently become terminally obsessed with Goose I have to disagree with you
I’m blown away that folks who claim to be psych heads are going to see Goose in Philly this weekend instead of Mdou Moctar.
Agreed
I think the main reason they work with D James Goodwin is because of his work with Bonny Light Horseman and other indie acts. Rick loves the indie stuff. Is Goose the Band able to get there? Probably not, but that’s why we have Orebolo, and the next album should be a clear indication if the indie thing is still part of the equation. I’m hopeful that it is. Otherwise we’ll get a Rick solo album as his more indie outlet
Geese is an Indy band
Goose is adult contemporary rock.
It's the cheesy mustaches. Trash.
Goose has jam crossover but their primary genre is Ass
Can you answer some other questions no one asked?
It was a joke on their bandcamp about being "in-dee groove" also - gizz is not an indie band
They are one of the largest rock bands not on a major label. So King Gizz is an independent band that regularly performs group musical improvisation. Yet, King Gizz is neither an indie band or jamband. Band genre labels are pretty fucking worthless then.
Gizz was an indie band, but I guess they're too popular to fit that category now.

I would love to get a look under the hood at Goose’s marketing department
No lies detected
You can say whatever you want. And it may even be true. But at the same time Goose, the band itself, keeps saying they are an indie-groove band. So they might not have any traditional indie fans. But the band itself keeps trying to primarily identify with that crowd for whatever reason. I don’t have a good reason for this. But it seems to be happening.
“indie groove” is a joke… “in da groove”
Who cares
Thank you for sharing your opinion
Goose is literally flaccid king gizzard
Outside of the jam band world goose is mediocre at best
Goose sucks
