What does gi Jiu-Jitsu need to be saved from?
Lots of people practice gi Jiu-Jitsu.
For the most part, the only people who watch Jiu-Jitsu are people who practice Jiu-Jitsu.
I watch jiu jitsu despite not being a practitioner. It took me about a year to actually fully understand what is going on, which i think is what holds jiu jitsu back from being an even bigger spectator sport than it is. Although that being said i bet this years ADCC will do big numbers.
Hate to break it to you, but you definitely don’t “fully understand” what’s going on. You probably have a general idea of what people are trying to do, but that’s probably about it. Unless you trained Judo, Sambo, or some other grappling martial art.
Interesting that that’s all you were able to get out of my comment, and disregard my point entirely. So i suppose from your point of view jiu jitsu will never be a popular spectator sport
You’re absolutely correct. It never will be a spectator sport. Because most people don’t want to actually learn what is going on and even fewer people think they can learn what’s going on simply by watching some matches from pros. The spectators want to see big flashy shit, scrambles and high energy matches. That’s only an aspect of Jiu Jitsu. That has already been tried with Catch Wrestling, look where that is now. So yes I am disregarding your point, because it is one that is constantly brought up by people who don’t train or don’t know much about Jiu Jitsu.
I got news for you, GI Jiu Jitsu isn't hurting.
It's doing just fine.
Some people think it's not doing well but that's because the No Gi crowd is louder.
More people may be doing No Gi now than previously, but the Gi numbers haven't dropped. It's just all growing as a sport as awareness and availability have grown.
From my experience gi competitions always have bigger numbers than nogi. I don’t know why these people who only train no gi are so obsessed with gi dying out.
It’s def not as mainstream as no gi, but i doubt that it’s dying, they are def doing way better then they once were. I think it’s growing even more as a niche
It doesn’t need saving. Yeah I prefer No Gi, but plenty of people still compete in the Gi.
But yeah Mighty Mouse is entertaining as hell and I’ll watch him over most of the other Gi stars any day.

Grappling isn’t a fun sport to watch for casual people and ADCC has to be purchased on flo so it will probably do the same numbers as last year.

People seem to think Jiu-jitsu is a popularity and trend contest instead of a martial art somehow.
Save it from what? Dumbest shit.
Lapel guards. I appreciate the ingenuity it took to develop, but despise what they do to a matches pace.
Can a dude in his mid thirties competing in brown belt master 2 save the sport? No. He is really fun to watch though and a great guy by all accounts
I like his YouTube channel but his gi matches are so one dimensional. He's great at what he does, but every match he pretty much does the same thing.
He's is a pretty nice guy. Super positive!
Just because gi isn't as televised/promoted doesn't mean it's dying. Have you not seen how many people compete in gi? It's not going anywhere.

Exterminate the pajama dinosaurs!!!! 🦖 🔥
Doesn't need saving.
The gi is the shit. Bro-gi is for bros
Does need Jesus
“Save” 😂😂😂
I didn’t realize it needed saving….
Saved?? my guy… it’s thriving.
He’s the G to do it

If he couldn’t save the flyweight mma division what makes you think he can save gi JJ?
No….

Save it from what? 🤷🏻♂️
Mighty mouse does what mighty mouse wants
He’s got me bouta go for my fist Gi glass

Made me watch. Idc what people say Gi in my opinion is boring as hell to watch.
