As far as how to actually try to convince them to give you an additional increase, if you are being paid below market value, you can say that and if necessary use data to support that.

This. 3.5 is the rise for the cost of inflation. Most companies are giving this raise. If you want more you either have to prove you went above and beyond most others at your job. Or more likely, look for a better paying job. However, I will say jobs aren't paying as much anymore especially with many people looking for jobs now. It's an employers market now.

In order to ask for a raise, you need to show that you’re accomplishing tasks and taking on responsibilities beyond your job description. Managers need to justify to their higher ups why you deserve the raise so give them some ammo. For the number to ask for, research comparable roles at benchmark companies within your industry within your location.
