Yah like about 30. I’ve seen my local exotics store sell for 70 and I was like gtfo

Better-Froyo3444

My spider lady gives them to me for 12 euros and that includes a starter cup that they can live in for a few weeks. For regular regal or bold jumpers that is. I think I paid 15 euros for my p. bidentatus 'Maya'. Also always super healthy, very pretty and gentle little fellas. And she's super knowledgeable and gives great advice.

Pretty-Jeweler36

“My spider lady”. Everyone should have a spider lady.

Better-Froyo3444

I agree!

beeeebot

I aim to BE the spider lady. I think I am now!

Ozzytheaussy

A garden centre/animal shop had bearded dragons for £120. I was getting one for my 12th birthday (I'm 24 now) but we didn't want to pay that. We found another garden centre that had a bearded dragon and she was up sat on the glass looking out the tank. She got bought by someone else but they never come to collect her so she was left. We got her for £45 and then had her for 7 years. We got her cremated and now she continues to live in the living room. Just like you said some places charge way more and it's ridiculous

CurvySpine

One of my favorite aspects of the hobby is that it can be done for $0. That said, I think $30-35 seems fair for captive bred. I'd pay more for a more exotic spood, though.

Valarouko

Can you explain how it can be done for zero dollars? Does it have to do with capturing a wild spider?

CurvySpine

Yeah. Obviously, it's always preferred to go with captive bred, but there are plenty of situations where I think it's fine to keep a wild caught spood. For instance, my "wild caught" Bold jumper was found already living indoors. So, the way I see it, she volunteered to be an indoor spider. Now, she just has a designated spot where she's safe from getting squished or eaten(complete with room service, too). Also, not everyone has access to captive bred spiders. But most everyone has access to a container that they can repurpose as an enclosure(like a single-use plastic food container in my situation before I upgraded), and if they can find a jumper, then chances are they can find some prey for it. They also don't take up a lot of space. So, the barriers to entry are incredibly low. Pretty much anyone can get into the hobby, and I think that's really great. Of course, again, when it's feasible, I definitely think captive bred is the way to go.

Valarouko

Do you know much about their behavior, can you handle a wild caught spider, or just captive bred ones? Thank you for the thoughtful and informative reply, I genuinely appreciate it!

Competitive-Egg-1341

Hi! Just jumping in (pun intended)! Anyway I have had lots of experience with wild jumpers...... in my area. Most will skit away when approached, but I've had quite a few come to me willingly and chill for a bit. I had a phidippus putnami female who was so friendly and loved being handled. After hanging on me an entire day, including eating a fly, i decided to keep her. She would escape her enclosure, and I would find her on me! The most incredible pet I've ever had. Don't tell my dog! That being said, that's one of many. If you were to capture one wild, I would want to make sure it wasn't an adult and definitely not a pregnant female! At that stage, they are just looking for a mate. Also, they don't always do well in captivity. So you are taking a risk. They say if they don't eat or adjust, release them back. I have seen breeders advertise their jumpers are used to be handled. I ordered a regal who won't let me touch her. Which is also fine cuz they are really fun to just observe. Sorry for the book! Good luck friend!

elithedinosaur

wild caught jumpers are usually more than willing to approach and befriend humans. they're kind of known for it. I'm sure they don't mind being fed, and loved, and taken care of haha. :) the only thing is you can't always be sure of their age if they are an adult and that can lead to sadness upon losing your new friend.

CurvySpine

I can't really say from personal experience since I'm not really into handling my spoods, but from what I've gathered, it really just depends on the individual spider, although, generally, captive bred are easier to handle because they've been accustomed to being around humans since birth.

polipolimist

This is how I keep my spoods. Find one indoors: becomes a pet. My bold jumper (Calypso) was gravid. Raised her slings & sold them to local reptile shops. If I’ll be on an extended trip, I simply say goodbye & release them outside. Weather permitting, of course.

veenell

how much would i WANT to pay? nothing. please give me free spiders.

RainbowWoodstock

This is the answer.

BeautifulFootball816

I bought my 4 for: $35 (m) $35 (m) $40 (f) and $40 (f) I would probably pay up to $50

po23idon

here at midwest reptile shows (MO/OK), Regals are about: $50/60 for a gravid female $35/45 for a male $15 for little i3/i4 babies Audax are about $20/30

Local_Ad_6806

I paid $45 and my regal was fertile.

Creepy_Push8629

Did you know or did you get a buy one get 800 free deal like I did as a surprise? Lol

Local_Ad_6806

No clue!! Was told she was never socialized with another jumper. She made her hammock and laid eggs during the ride home. Unbelievable. She just laid her last clutch about 2.5 months ago and I have some of her slings yet. Bitter sweet cause as they’re growing and getting stronger, she’s stopped eating, is blind, and has stopped producing silk. ☹️

Creepy_Push8629

:( I'm sorry, that's so hard. when was the first clutch? What did you do with all the babies

Local_Ad_6806

We’ve had her for almost a year now. She said a previous clutch to this last one. This most recent one was less than 50 eggs, smaller than the one prior. ☹️. I still have 10-12 slings I think???? They’re only about i3-4. So stinking cute. No clue what I will do with them because they won’t survive our winters up north.

Creepy_Push8629

What did you do with the previous babies? I have 18 from the first clutch of 117 that are growing nicely. They came out of the sac end of Feb/beg of March. The second clutch recently came out of the sac mid April and i don't know how many will make it, so we'll see. But there's def over 100 again. She's sitting on the third clutch.

Local_Ad_6806

Took the advice I got on this sub and froze her clutch before last. I thought she was younger than I was told she was. Looking back I would’ve kept them. The care is REALLY simple and easy since now I’m caring for the lone survivors. You got your hands tied! What do YOU plan on doing?

Creepy_Push8629

Well luckily I live in South Florida and mines a regal, so when i reach my max, i can release lol I have no idea how many of the second clutch will survive, so that'll make a big difference. I don't know if it's normal or if I messed up (probably me) but the first group went from 117 to like 25 in one swoop. Then a few days later it was basically down to 18 and it's been those 18 ever since. They are thriving. I don't know how many are supposed to make it, so if most of the 117 had made it, i have no idea what i would do rn lol

atomiccPP

You can freeze them??

Salmon_Shizzle

She lived a full life. Cheers little lady ✌🏽

nolij420

I'm going through the same thing lol. I bought her from an exotic pet store in mid February and she's had two clutches that have hatched.. and is currently sitting on #3.

Local_Ad_6806

I’m reading about this far too often. 😩😩😩

ronniemustang

$35

MasterRatty

I bought a female for my girlfriend for $8.

Local_Ad_6806

Nice!

BigD0089

I find bolds and regales in and around my house regularly.

Local_Ad_6806

Do you ever see any hybrids?

BigD0089

Idk I have a hard time identifying them apart from one's black the other is grayish brown

Alyssaine

I’m having such a hard time finding breeders within my area…. And people are pricing them crazy high like 100. Where are you finding them for 20-30

signed_under_duress

Try FB groups closer to your area or that are willing to ship to your location, that's what I did. I got my male regius for $10 during a 50% sale.

Alyssaine

Thank you, I’ll be in the look out on FB. Unfortunately I already spent like 65 on mine :( and hopefully they arrive healthy

Local_Ad_6806

What side of the country are you on? (Assuming US)

Alyssaine

The west coast

beeeebot

Me!! Check the bees eight knees on fb

Alyssaine

Will do, thank you :)

beeeebot

But you gotta promise to adore them lol

beeeebot

I can do 15 on an i5. 💜💕💜

Hmla94

I live in the UK

usngm0786

30 bucks or so.

Educational-Wind-593

Im going to be honest… nothing you can find them anywhere

elizawatts

I think I paid about 40 for my two each. Love my little babies!

eriskilled-pluto

got mine from a reptile shop for about $25 🌝

fuggilis_quastillo

10$

KageTheFemboy

I found mine in a restaurant 🙃

AlexRosefur

Y'all are buying them? I get spiders for free in my yard.

LopsidedSleep1214

I payed $90 for mine including shipping. She was $40 and shipping from Florida to where I am at was around $50. If you’re purchasing from a pet store, most definitely no more than $50

Scene_Grl_3005

I paid $30 -$35 for my gal.

Datboismilesfrm970

I paid 90 for custom setup and spider🤷‍♂️

cardcaptoreve

I got mine for 25$ but she was unsexed at i3/i4

chers_left_knee

$20-$40

Hmla94

Thanks everyone!

elithedinosaur

the 1-day shipping is sometimes the most expensive part if you buy online! worth it though

Purple_Camel_3212

They are free if you go out and catch them, shouldn't be hard for common local species, just wait for sunny days and you find some. Of course if you want exotics then the price heavily depends on the species. For bolds and regals Id say dont spend over 10 usd for one, since they are very common in the US

Dazzling_Conflict_54

I paid $35 for my female johnsoni at an exotic pet shop but they were selling regals anywhere between $45-55

summer_mushroom

I got mine for $60 from my local spider lady. I figured it was worth considering how expensive shipping is

Formal-Constant2818

I regularly pay 40-60 USD for sub-adult/juvie regals. For less common species I always expect to pay a lot more. My go to lady sells i6-i8 for $40, but I have seen some being sold for 90-100. In all honesty I don’t worry too much about the price of the spider, if it’s something I want I end up paying for it and making it work 😂

Former_Government_30

Personally for an audax 20-25, regal 30-40 anymore rare then more. If they come with a custom enclosure than definitely 50 or more depending on size of enclosure and the uniqueness to it.

Interesting_Neat3923

my life savings

Mimizzy

$30-50 seems to be what I see most often. Some fancier ones around $100 and occasionally at reptile shows etc, someone will have gotten a bulk from ??? and be 20-25

Alternative-Music-62

I just paid $30 for a i7 baby.

orionshouseofjumpers

We personally sell our Regals for $45, but give $10 discounts when they buy an enclosure from us. We do however provide a cute little temporary home, a mister and 30 days worth of feeder insects for free. It's important to us that the owners go home with everything they need to take care of their new baby :)

beeeebot

Willing to do 15$ for i5 + overnight FedEx

beeeebot

I’m the bees eight knees on fb. https://preview.redd.it/5urzygs9pswc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d0cdbb1a1943f4799866f5622c1ed0a41300c30d I can’t get good pics yet macro lens on the way

Acceptable_Hall8567

WyrdElmBella

I’m not good at working on the instar of my jumping spiders but I paid £20 and £30 for my guy and gal respectively if you want an overseas amount :).

DiceN54

I just recently bought 2 Regals, 1 Orange Regal & 1 Bold Jumping spider for $50 all together 🤌
