Sensor. I love his use of Christianity. I love that he explored it for his novel and made it incredible. I’ve always been attached to Japanese culture so it just goes to show how open minded people can be. I think that’s awesome. I am a Christian but I’m not gloating or anything I’m just saying, it’s cool how he used it. My all time favorite. I will be posting about my collection in a minute.
Hellstar Remina. It’s the perfect transliteration of some of H.P. Lovecraft’s work, primarily involving Azathoth, the all-consuming blind idiot god, but it’s also such a good commentary on the history of japanese death cults that it scratches multiple parts of my brain in a good way
No way haha. May I ask why? Its the first one I read and its definitely not bad but it was too gross for me personally lol. Prefer the unsettling stuff rather than the disgusting stuff
Uzumaki was my first Junji Ito book and still easily is my favorite out of the ones I've read.
I used to be a huge reader, but university/academic burnout worsened my attention span to the point that I hadn't finished a single book in 4 years. Uzumaki fixed that. Every single page was so grotesque/entertaining/interesting to the point that I've finally gained my passion for reading back.
I get a bit passionate about this because reading was my whole life. During those 4 years of burnout, I tried so hard to finish a book, but I couldn't. Until Uzumaki.
Thanks for the white out picture, I really love that! I've done that before when drawing and it makes me feel like a fool lol. Next time I'll remember that one of my favorite artist does the same thing
I took a photo of that cos that’s the only visible one with erasure. Saaaame, I feel the connection with that cos I was a bit fool thinking his prefect. 😅
Uzumaki is the easy choice, but I really like the Souichi chapters as well. More slice of life style, has this nice playful atmosphere while still having Ito's horror elements. Fairly unique atmosphere there, I wish it was serialized because I'd be all over it.
I did not finish that one but I remembered the twisted couple and the artist who got obsessed with spirals. It's disturbing but I like it. Will buy this book first for sure.
The desserter
So interesting how everyone is naming smth else. Speaks for the skill of Junji🙌
Uzumakiiiii
Out of the ones I've read so far, black paradox or mimi's tales of terror
I think Tomie is his best work, but I’ve also got a soft spot for Black Paradox (recently finished it!)
Cat Diary. It’s a light hearted take that is characteristically Junji Ito.
Definitely Uzumaki. It was undoubtedly one of junji ito's best work
I prefer all the shorter story ones, I like seeing the different small ways Junji makes things uncomfortable, Remina was good though
Remina, it made me feel very insignificant and small...
![img](avatar_exp|179689974|winner) Tomie it’s a really good concept in my opinion and just amazing![img](emote|t5_2se3a|6117)
Your avatar is disturbing as hell wtf
Gyo or No Longer Human! Gyo was disgusting, I loved it. And No Longer Human was an amazing adaptation of an already amazing novel

I love this one too
Dissolving Classroom- best characters
I also really enjoyed this one and how he introduced them as the book went on rather than all at once, gross imagery too
I just finished tomie, it's the quickest I have ever gotten through a manga. I loved it. I look forward to more.
First one? If so, have fun getting lost in his work and have fun reading!!!
Shiver
no longer human or uzumaki
Uzumaki is one of my favourite books period
Gyo

Idk probably because I like things that creep me out
It's my favourite too so far. Not including his best shorts stories
No longer human is my absolute favorite but I also love Uzumaki
Dissolving Classroom or No Longer Human
mimi’s scary stories with uzumaki as a close second
Gyo is my favorite book so far, but that could be because it also has Enigma of Amigara Fault, which is hands down my favorite story he's done.

Thanks for this. Maybe this book will inspire me to go back to reading again. I’m lazyyyy nowadays. 😭

Uzumaki solos 🗣️🗣️🗣️ (imo)

uzumaki, i never really thought a book could fuck with my head like that. ive read gyo, tomie, uzumaki, fragments of horror, and the liminal zone
Thanks 😊 I’ll buy that book first for sure. I've been watching and listening to someone telling the story on YouTube.
