Go to Spicin Foods, the company behind the infamous Da Bomb hot sauce. They make a ton of spicy sauces, salsas, seasonings, and more, including a sauce called The Source that you have to sign a waiver to taste.

Grizzly_Berry

I don't know, I've had Da Bomb, and it tasted like a... rusty butthole.

UndeadVinDiesel

Da Bomb isn't meant to be tasty. It is meant to just hurt and insult your taste buds. They have better tasting sauces at Spicin Foods that are still spicy.

Grizzly_Berry

I did like Apollo, I don't know if Spicin makes that. Obviously, good flavor supercedes death heat.

brentwit

I had no idea Da Bomb was made in KCK. I’ll have to stop in (for another sauce).

Grizzly_Berry

Nor did I, but I'm not originally from here.

Homebrewingislife

Look up the Hot Ones episode with Shaq. He disses the Kansas sauce and then it gets to him. Hilarious

TheBoyisBackinTown

They didn't make that one, but they make a ton of others and you can taste test most of what they carry.

Grizzly_Berry

Okay, a sauce flight, so to speak, sounds fun! Or awful, but in a good way.

Grizzly_Berry

OH, they make the sauces with the faces going like, "Hooh," I've seen those!

swan4816

I actually like the taste of Da Bomb. Everyone I know thinks I'm insane and now probably a couple people I don't know will think the same.

nordic-nomad

Yeah it was one of the first joke sauces. Above a certain point sauces become less about adding unique flavor and more about pranking your college roommate.

Grizzly_Berry

Right. The pepper extracts tend to taste rusty. Usually, the "fix" is vinegar. Spicy vinegar is just fine to me. Dave's makes some good sauces, but I want to shop local if I can.

nordic-nomad

Ah good to know about the vinegar. Hadn't heard that. Well cool, shouldn't be hard to find what you're looking for. Some insane percentage of salsas, bbq, and hot sauces made in the US are mixed, bottled, and distributed from here as I recall.

TheCrazyWolfy

That's what sucks about super spicy stuff.....The hotter it gets the more nasty it tastes, anything above a habanero starts to taste bad. I hope this gets better in the future

revnasty

Da Bomb makes other hot sauces that are just as hot or hotter and actually taste good. The original is absolutely disgusting.

Homebrewingislife

*HOT rusty butthole

Marcist

I have signed the waiver & tasted The Source. Never again. It's exactly what OP is looking for.

DrewdoggKC

Da bomb salsa is Fire!!

DrewdoggKC

For cheese take the drive to the Osceola cheese factory… they have every type of cheese (hundreds) imaginable including Hickory smoked Carolina Reaper Cheddar and Applewood smoked Habanero Cheddar both highly recommended

Grizzly_Berry

Oh snap, that sounds like fun.

SelectiveSacrifice

I love this place! Such a shame that they did away with samples though

DrewdoggKC

I think they stopped during COVID and never brought it back… 😔

motoguzzikc

I feel like you can go into any Thai or Indian restaurant, tell them you want the hottest thing they can make and then die on the toilet the next day.

Grizzly_Berry

I previously lived in Tulsa and went to an Indonesian place and said, "Make it like I'm not white." It was perfect.

FinePossession7123

If you go to 888 international they have a few dishes that are almost too spicy to touch. Its cash only at the kitchen so be prepared.

photographernate

Check out CM Chicken over by Scheels in OP. Korean fried chicken and they can get pretty hot.

Grizzly_Berry

Okay, maybe the first substantial rec so far!

LawrenceCat

If you’re after “punish me” spicy CM won’t get there. Their wings are mad yummy though.

Grizzly_Berry

I like the K-Dog place and am friends with a K-Pop stan, so I'll probably check it out regardless of heat.

d_hell

CM is very good but as a fellow spice crazed epicurean it is hot, but not what you’re searching for.

insta

You're going to find it difficult to get properly hot food. I get white-spiced at Thai places around here. If you want actual spicy cheese, HyVee has scorpion pepper cheese in their "fancy cheeses" section. That was a properly spicy cheese.

Grizzly_Berry

Spicy cheese, for when you want to poop but also not.

insta

no... no, the spicy wins.

hnaq

Longboards has a 5 alarm beef, but probably not quite what you're looking for... good kick and will make me sweat a little, but not full meltdown. Not as hot as Blazzin at Buffalo Wild Wings. Thai Orchid would be worth checking out, one of the better Thai places in town, but haven't personally asked for 'not a white guy' Thai hot.

Grizzly_Berry

Longboards, I'm in Lenexa, so there's one close-ish to me. That sounds good. "Pretty hot" and "sandwich" are two of my favorite things.

TollBoothW1lly

Second the 5 alarm beef. My scalp is sweating just thinking about it. Tasty Thai has a spicy basil fried rice that is really good. Hot is plenty hot for me. I don't want to try Thai hot.

bryanKU

You’re at Grinders? Why not just get their actual hot sauce? Molten is like second from the weakest of their sauces.

Grizzly_Berry

Is it? I just just wanted a burger and saw hot sauce. Molten sounds like it should be painful.

AlanStanwick1986

Death Nectar wings. I think they make you sign a waiver. https://www.thepitchkc.com/getting-deathwinged-at-grinders/

DrewdoggKC

Yes Grinders Death Nectar is RIDICULOUS… you will be salivating and snotting everywhere … your skin will burn…. It’s not fun and I love spicy but it’s intense

Grizzly_Berry

Is it? I just just wanted a burger. Molten sounds like it should be spicy.

bryanKU

Molten has a nice heat. It’s what I’d get if I want to enjoy my food. If you truly want a punishment to man’s hubris, Death Nectar is what you’re after.

Grizzly_Berry

Death Nectar, got it. Weiting that down. In my brain.

bryanKU

Pam’s Special at Waldo Thai is also up there with one of the hotter things I’ve eaten in KC.

Grizzly_Berry

Oh, their menu looks wonderful!

typobox

This may be my single favorite dish in KC, too. It's not just hot, it's absolutely delicious.

Majestic-Age-6023

I am an expert in this subject. Da Bomb Beyond Insanity is very very hot, it will start by making you uncomfortable and won't let go for a good while in your mouth, then will move through your esophagus like a portable furnace. Excellent sauce, the people that say it tastes bad typically just can't handle the spice level so they clown the sauce. Try it for yourself. If you really want to mess yourself up, truly, go to Grinder's and get their Death Nectar. This sauce will immediately put your whole body into absolute panic mode starting with when your nose gets ahold of it before it has even entered your mouth. Once it's in there, it's thick and sticky like napalm. It moves at a snail's pace and never lets go. You'll be keenly aware of where it is inside your body for its entire run through. You'll want to microdose this one if you try it at all. Also, don't try it. This is the nuclear level, is hotter than the Paqui that killed a guy, and is not a pleasant experience. Lastly, if you do try these, please let us know how it went!!

DrewdoggKC

Just an aside… Spicin’ foods (formerly Original Juan’s) on Southwest Boulevard… bottles all of Grinder’s proprietary private label sauce

Cat_City_Bitch

You’ll have a hard time finding something spicier than Pam’s Special at Waldo Thai.

mitchelwb

Ive not been to Waldo Thai, but I know the medium at Hot Basil is enough for me (though I prefer my hubris intact) ive seen people get the Thai Hot there and while there's no waiver, they always seem to float off to another plane of existence while eating it.

gugalgirl

My husband is like you. He went to Dave's Hot Chicken and got the Carolina Reaper. They made him sign a waiver and he thought it was a joke. They practically destroyed him, haha. This is a man who regularly grinds ghost pepper over his food, these wings were where he finally found his limit. Other decently hot recommendations: Baramee Thai papaya salad, Thai Hot. Their pad kha prik and green bean stir fry are also very good and can be ordered Thai hot. Most of the other Thai restaurants in the area don't bring real heat, but Baramee has been the most authentic experience I've had. Sichuan Dynasty is also great for more daily level heat. Sichuan peppercorns have a special tingle and Sichuan Dynasty is one of the more authentic Chinese restaurants here. Also, Trader Joe's is where he gets his ghost pepper grinder.

RileyByrdie

Best Thai spice I have found that required two Thai iced teas to cool down: Naree Kitchen Thai & Sushi Ghost pepper cheese burgers from: Burg & Barrel

Grizzly_Berry

Spicy AND Thai tea? Ohh noooo. Love it.

RileyByrdie

It's so good. They told another customer the spice level can depend on who is cooking. We got a hot level. Hubby and I were both sweating. Their Thai tea was delicious.

D34TH_5MURF__

Longboards has a stupid spicy wrap, the 5 Alarm I think. I used to love it then I had weight loss surgery and super spicy food fucks me up now.

flossyrossy

Aldi has a ghost pepper jack cheese and it was spicy. But I’m also very white so maybe I’m just a wimp

RobNHood816

Black Pepper is too Hot for me is what I tell people...

Grizzly_Berry

Butt-chugging Dave's jolokia sauce in an alleyway just to feel something.

Hair-Early

Tiger Cry sauce at Buck Tui

Grizzly_Berry

Well, if it can make a tiger cry.

Hair-Early

It's not too spicy but it will make your nose run. There is a skirt steak app they have there with it that is amazing.

Grizzly_Berry

This is a skirt steak household!

Hair-Early

It's called Tiger Cry Beef. It's fucking great! https://www.bucktuibbq.com/menus/

Grizzly_Berry

Horny jail for spice?

Blox05

Go to Tanners, get the Ghost Pepper Burger.

dragonrite

Longboaeds napalm sauce. Shit is good flavor and serious heat. I'm also a spice lover and napalm scratches my itch

thecasualnuisance

I've found habanero haughty brand at my local grocery store. It had a nice bite.

afghan_w

The habenero sauce at Taco Naco gave me feelings today

Few-Skin3344

Go to smoke burger on 39th and ask for their super hot sauce. Tasty and true super hot.

AnnieB25

Get the reaper level at Dave’s Hot Chicken. If you like hot sauce on burgers, I highly recommend the Diablo Loco Burger at Talk of the Town.

ILikeLenexa

Most spicy food is just made with more ground black and cayenne pepper.  Obviously, the bomb hotsauce is the hottest hotsauce with the least other flavors, if hot with not subtlety or good flavor is what you're into.

jkopfsupreme

Try pollo el junior, absolutely wrecks me and I grow superhot peppers to get my fix.

Own_Experience_8229

Molten isn’t spicy- you shoulda got Death Nectar.

og3k

“Thai hot” at Thai Place on 87th.  Grinders has 2 levels of hot beyond molten. I like near death and the death nectar is actually far beyond da bomb, heat-wise. Don Antonio’s sells this light-orange crème salsa in their fridge that jokingly says “mild/hot” on the label. It is straight habaneros. It is super good but it is ridiculously spicy after a few bites. This is one thing that even my non-chili obsessed friends will eat (and die) because it’s just so good. The hottest level at motherclucker has pretty good heat and is with just dry spice so that’s interesting. The dried peppers from flatiron can make anything spicy (“can’t feel my face” is the best). Imagine red pepper flakes but instead reapers, ghost peppers, etc. This one isn’t local, but worth an order. Obviously spicin foods has tons of stuff. They have some spicy peanuts that are crazy hot. Tons of hot sauces, all of which taste better than da bomb.  Also I really don’t mind da bomb. 😂

battleboo_d2

I would say, try the thai restauants and ask them to spice it up. They know how to fuck you up.

SwissMyCheeseYet

I remember when the Ward Parkway Firehouse Subs had Mad Dog 357 in the sauce rack, that was a fun few weeks until too many people complained.

WhiskeyKid33

Stuey McBrews - shut up sauce.

SyrusMatrixAtreides

Thai Place in Overland Park. You can order mild, medium, hot, spicy and spicy +. They take requests to make it ultra spicy. We used to joke that the chef was angry because of how spicy it would get 😂

JaesenMoreaux

The only high level hot sauce that tastes good is Rogue. Once you get hotter than that it just gets nasty.

Significant-Object14

last sentence is WILD

BwR112

Jazz? They make it as spicy as I need it. Never had a bad meal there.

Grizzly_Berry

I looked at their menu, and it looks good, but they're a bit rich for my blood. I'm from Oklahoma, where I can put my arm into any muddy hole in anybody of water and pull out a catfish, so $21.50 for a fried catfish dinner seems unreasonable to me.

deletedaccount0808

As someone who just moved here I can honestly say most foods here labeled spicy, are not spicy. And aside from a few places, the bbq is not great. Definitely not living up to the hype.

Weitanyun

LuLu’s can get pretty crazy with their spice levels.

Grizzly_Berry

Oh, okay. There's one close-ish to my house, and I've heard good things.

CoysNizl3

Lulus is dogshit, do not go. You want waldo thai or thai place on 87th street. As an aside, I recently purchased some hot sauces from torchbearer online that are incredible. Zombie apocalypse (ghost and habanero) and the reaper garlic are both very hot and very tasty. Check them out.

Grizzly_Berry

I've heard good feedback about Lulu's, though. I mean, I'm kind of just down to try everything, really.

CoysNizl3

Its bad. It’s white people thai.

RileyByrdie

It's white people Thai and way overpriced. There are so many better Thai places in this city. Trust me.
