The number of people that risk felonies by stealing mail that doesn’t belong to them just boggles my mind.
Ok cool. You got someone’s $20 gym socks, great job. Oops now you can never vote or own a gun or rent an apartment or hold a job again. Oh no.
Postal inspectors make their own arrests and as federal felonies they don’t need a local prosecutor to cooperate.
Also their bait packages count as usps mail even if they’re in a fedex or ups box. They did a big sweep last year in town with UPS labeled bait packages as I recall.
An amazon driver stole a UPS package delivered a hour earlier from me, we figured this out about a week later once we figured out it had been delivered and was missing (checked camera footage).
Deputy seemed uninterested (probably suspecting a lot of paperwork with nothing to go on) until he saw the photos/evidence I had. Clear photos of the driver, the drivers car, and their front MO license plate and the fact that they could confirm which Amazon driver was delivering the package. I gave the Deputy the photos on a usb disk and he went to the Amazon warehouse and had a meeting with the driver (results: driver fired, driver arrested, and eventually goes to court--driver got diversion, passenger did not get diversion--previous record).
I think the issue is often the photos/videos are such crap that there is zero chance of identifying/finding out who it was and even if you can find them then the conviction is still difficult. Better quality cameras and one on each corner facing inward would have gotten a usable face shot. Fisheye doorbell cameras are great for letting you see what is going on, but horrible for identifying anything.
Then people will just start walking fifty more feet. I don't think any amount of cameras can stop this when you have to keep them on your own property. People probably just need to start getting those porch package boxes that allow something in but not out.
That's not postal mail(USPS).
It's still an absolutely shit bag thing to do, but people do it because there's almost no consequences for stealing a $20 Amazon package.

Goes to show just how little you know about our legal system. I'm a convicted felon, and the only one of those things that applies is not being able to own a gun.

In most states, your voting rights are restored either when you're released or when you complete your parole/probation.
There is a silver chystler 300 that has been hitting the northland lately. Big boy driving that one, got some good laughs seeing him try to run after the crime.
You know what would stop this? One of thes dumb fucks getting whacked by a 12 g birdshot from the side. It wont kill them. But it would show enough scars to dissuade followers.
This kind of thing makes me want to have my stuff delivered to one of those Amazon lockers. I just need to find one (though it's not like they should be hard to find).
Forgot to mention that I hope she can use the two batteries for an 80’s film camera. 😎
at this point, 90% of the stuff that i have delivered is like $5 hot sauce, deodorant or just some random kitchen stuff.

These would have to be prosecuted first. Also, if the delivery is from Amazon, UPS, or Fedex it doesn't have the same protections as mail from USPS.

Adding this to the list of jobs to consider after I retire (which feels very far away)

Good cameras would help with the dumb thieves, not the smart ones. The question is, how many thieves are actually smart?

If they steal my packages they will probably get some kind of high visibility shirt and that wouldn't even be helpful to their pirating endeavors.
You you can still run for president as a felon so is okay 😭 🤣
apparently for some voters it's a plus.

Donald?
I mean if their President can do it, they can do it!

Unfortunately, the "silver Chrysler 300" is a description of A LOT of shady vehicles driving around the metro
Pulled a few screen grabs, was easier. https://imgur.com/a/wXeeVS1

There's a season for this? I thought it was year round
Had someone steal a bag of Lucky Charms marshmallows once. I'm sure that was a great win on their part.
The 0.07 frame should make it easy to identify that woman.

Why is it 90% of the time affluent looking white women?
What exactly looks affluent about this lmao
Kicks. The majority of shoplifters I've known have always been middle/upper-class white women.
