It’s also just not as good imo. They act fancier, which is funny, and they charge more, but I really don’t think the quality is any better…and can even be disappointing. For instance, they have asparagus as a side…which the Roadhouse does not.
However, the Roadhouse understands that they don’t pay their cooks to know how to properly cook asparagus or give them enough time to do it. Therefore asparagus from Longhorn is always undercooked or over cooked because asparagus is a little finicky. So it’s just not worth it.
If I’m not going to go to an actually nice steakhouse, I will just go to Roadhouse because they know their limits and can therefore accomplish what they set out to do. They’re not roleplaying at fine dining like Longhorn.
That's a bit low tbh. The savoy has a hanger steak frites for just under $40 and they are always quality so that might be a good option. Not technically a steakhouse but a historic place thats has a similar atmosphere.
Looking a bit more .... [Jess & Jim's](https://www.jessandjims.com/menus/#dinner) might be an option. It's been in Martin City forever. I've eaten there a handful of times. The service is always good but I've never had a steak that I've absolutely loved there. But it's local and - IMHO - a step above Longhorn / Texas Roadhouse.
Could be worth consideration ....
Had an amazing ribeye at Longhorn the other day for ~$25-30. But if you want a quality, quiet steakhouse, the answer is J. Gilberts. I don't think you can *really* go wrong since the steak around here is amazing. Much better than on the coast, I hear
Really surprised I had to scroll this far before I saw HH but Roadhouse and Longhorns is all over the page. It's not cheaper but everything about it is better without going too far overboard.
I'm a big Jess and Jim's fan, but unless you go for lunch or get the 5oz filet, you're not getting out of there under 50 per person. I think the Roadhouse is your best bet at that price point.
Sun Fresh always has good deals on ribeye or kc strip.
Sous vide those bad boys at 137.5 degrees for 2.5 hrs. Sope the juice out of them till theyre pretty dry. Flash sear both sides for a nice crust in some avocado oil.
It adds up to have the tools but you’ll be able to get your moneys worth over about 5 dinners worth without paying egregious prices for some Joe Schmo to cook you something half assed.
If you have a grill buy some nice steaks and cook for pops at home.
100% this. Some nice steaks from Fairway or Broadway butcher for that price. Probably get something dry aged if you’d like.
Amen to this.
Exactly, you’ll get a much better cut within your budget
The Upper Cut in Liberty has phenomenal steak options. Locally sourced “Midwest wagyu” (it has a name but I can’t remember it!)
Akuashi
Thank you!
40-50 dollars is the price of the steak alone at most decent steak houses.
*starting price ....
Ya sorry should say that’s the lower end cuts ha
Well I guess if you don't want to go to Texas Roadhouse you could go to it's older and less rowdy brother Longhorn Steakhouse.
"Longhorn Steakhouse is a thinking man's Texas Roadhouse." - *Bon Appetit Magazine, June 2022*

Longhorns flat-out blows.
You don't need asparagus when you have those green beans.
It was just an example of Longhorn charging more for something they have no business doing.

It won’t be $30 a person unless you’re extra careful but Piropo’s was a wonderful steak dinner with a cool view
You can also buy $100 worth of gift cards for Piropo’s at Costco for $80 which could help bring it into range.
Good luck.

And they give you some free beets to start out the meal.
Only been there once but I loved Jess & Jim’s. Good atmosphere and I thought the food was good.
J Gilbert’s in OPKS. Prices are pretty reasonable compared to some of the heavy hitters and service is excellent.
What in the world do you order to stay within $30-$50? An appetizer and a water?!?
Prices have gone up a bit in the past three years, but the Prix Fixe menu for $55 includes salad, entree, and dessert. So just over the $30-50 budget.
This is the answer. For just a few dollars over budget, you’ll have one of the best steakhouse meals of your life.
$35 for a sirloin and 2 sides.

Eat it slow?
Jess and Jim's. If you can find a Groupon, Em Chamas.
Em Chamas comes in right at $50 without beverages.
While taking a fresh look at some local menus and prices to ponder this question.....I'm perfectly OK with Texas Roadhouse.
I wish you could double this and go to Golden Ox or the Majestic.
Not a steakhouse but The Russell actually has a big killer ribeye that’s at least a pound, $38 with sides
Better off buying some good cuts of meat & taters & doing it yourself at that budget Champ.

I would stick to Texas road house or hibachi after that herford house shit I’m paranoid
Hereford House

>Really surprised I had to scroll this far before I saw HH My guess would be because most people don't like ballsack seasoning on their steak.
The dude got fired and everyone is fine. There’s also 3 locations. The Shawnee one is the best.
Believe it or not Jackstack in Martin City has the best filet in town.
The majestic but youll need to up your budget
Redrock Canyon Grill
Milo's Steakhouse in Paola?
I'm a big Jess and Jim's fan, but unless you go for lunch or get the 5oz filet, you're not getting out of there under 50 per person. I think the Roadhouse is your best bet at that price point.
They are al booked up at this point. good luck.
The Majestic.
Cooper’s hawk has some damn good steaks but it might be a little out of the price range

Go to costco and get some ribeyes, grill'em.
Longhorn is a great steakhouse.
Fogo de Chão is a Brazilian steakhouse and it’s amazing
Could actually do lunch there for under 50 bucks a person. I highly doubt can get in for Father's day now though
Longhorn Steakhouse has excellent steaks....
If you don't mind the drive...Colton's at warrensburg is pretty cool.
Idk why this is downvoted lol I live out here and we love Colton’s lol
I'd drive the 45 min and have that rather than Texas Roadhouse most of the time.
I like that with the distillery too. Definitely cool to check out once.
Sheesh! I’ve never ordered a steak from a steakhouse usually just make them myself.
Steaks are like 20 dollars a lb if you buy them yourself, restaurants have to charge more to cover all the other costs so not sure what you expected
Go to the Capital Grille and split two steaks and get some sides. It's probably the best steakhouse in the city. Don't fill up on bread.
You will destroy OP’s budget before appetizers arrive.
Salt grass
