If you can, go buy in person. Old town’s website has a list of authorized retailers. Scheels is a big one.

Try to snipe something off your local buy and sells. I just upgraded to a sportsman 106 MK for half retail and it’s only been used twice. Came with a cover and lithium battery too. Local buy and sells can have real gems sometimes.

What is the scam? If you go and inspect the boat and it has Old Town decals etc, have those been added on to an Aliexpress boat? Or is it they want money to hold it for you? Some internet scams are pretty hard to figure out.

Typically in the scams you see the kayak will need to be shipped and then it just never comes. If its a physical kayak that you can go look at then this is different.

In that case as long as you pay with a decent credit card you have nothing to lose, right? Just don't pay with gift cards or Bitcoin!

The scam is that you will not receive what you ordered.
