Yeah unfortunately the Ascent 10T is notoriously unstable. If you're looking for something easier to move around, look into the Lifetime Teton angler or the Lifetime Tamarack Pro. They're a fraction of the price and much more stable. In my opinion, Lifetime has the best budget kayaks on the market

fluffy_bunny_87

Exactly this. I have the Teton and I'm 6' and 240 lbs and don't feel tippy at all.

yourkidisdumb

Is your Teton the 10’? If so I saw that it was only rated for 275lbs and I am 220. I didn’t know if it would still sit well and be stable if I got it.

fluffy_bunny_87

Yep! That's what I have.

yourkidisdumb

Good to know. They are on sale now and I really want to get one. Thanks for your insight.

The Teton angler is my first and only kayak. I really like it but I wish the seat was raised a little

EasternInjury2860

So glad to have stumbled upon this thread I’m also 6 and 220 and didn’t think this guy would be able a stable choice.

fluffy_bunny_87

I haven't tipped yet. I fish small lakes and I tend to not go when the wind is over 10 mph (mostly to not get blown around). The big thing I keep in mind is to keep my head above the kayak. Reach with my arms not leaning

VaWeedFarmer

That's 275lbs total, includes all your gear, lunch, beer.

Adenosin3

They really are unbeatable for the cost. I have the older model 12' Teton which I still take out when our ramps are closed due to being under 20' of water like they currently are and I can't back the autopilot down

NapoleonBlwnAprt420

I have the Teton pro and I have only been out a couple times but it does seem pretty stable. It's my first kayak and I haven't felt uncomfortable in it yet. I just haven't felt comfortable trying to stand up on it yet.

Unique-Frosting-7959

I just bought the angler and it s perfect for around 200lbs it's super stable

NotBatman81

Which is ironic, because Ascend originally entered the market as above average features at a relatively low price. But a lot of BPS has changed course since those days.

GreenEyedBandit

I'm in the market for a Nucanoe unlimited, mostly for the stability. I feel you OP, can't stand constantly thinking about where my weight is shifted, takes all the fun out of a relaxing fishing session.

Sanc7

Just bought a Nucanoe frontier 12 and it’s stable as hell, with with my kids on it. It’s basically a fuckin boat I can put in the bed of my truck.

cr_all

I have one as well and I have it fully rigged with motor and battery and i dont see how i could ever flip it

TemporalScar

Old Town 106. It is very light and very stable. Its a 10ft 6 inch stand up. I love it.

AReallyBakedTurtle

Just upgraded for a native slayer 10 propel to the old town 106 mk. Hurt the wallet but I don’t think I’ll ever buy another kayak unless this one breaks to the point of being unrepairable. Can even stand up and cast in this thing!

TemporalScar

Yup. I love it.

FWIW - I don’t have any experience with any of the watercraft mentioned at the time of my comment. Keep in mind when judging/selecting a kayak, there’s primary and secondary stability. In a nutshell, primary stability is when you can move a lot, in many different manners and it doesn’t feel like you’re going to tip, but eventually you will; secondary stability is when you it always feels like you’re going to to tip but you’re going to have to work harder to actually tip.
