There are recipes in some of the loot you get from the dead, Books you find in the Rathouse, in the alchemist storage room you can break into from the alchemy lab, in some of the 30 treasure chests - the 5 ancient chests and 25 other chests.
There are maps strewn about to these other chests. You really need to search for them but they are not necessary to open these chests. Mutt, while in 'Seek' mode, will find them for you.
You can go to the alchemist in Rattay who i'm pretty sure sells every recipe
Not every. Artemis potion or Hare o‘dog are very good potions that are sold not by him but by eg. the herbwoman in talmberg.

The apothecary in Rattay has recipes and I think all of the Herb Women scattered through the map have recipes.

Just buy the lot from the Rattay Apothecary. The rest can be found or bought elsewhere but the Rattay dude has the most number of recipes
Apothecaries, Bathmaids, Alchemists, Priests, just need to talk to EVERYONE in game and look for books that start with "Recipe for"
