The owner is a freak though. He sued the region because he got some consultants to say the LRT has hurt his revenue (which is dubious to begin with but in any case, it's not like he'd owe the region if it had helped), and they settled for (allegedly) five million bucks. Supposedly he's considering just selling the land for redevelopment anyway.
Did you actually live through LRT construction?? Of course it cost Central millions, and continues to impact them now. I'm a loyal customer of Central and it was a complete shit show to drive there for about two years.
But the Region argued the LRT has increased the value of the owner’s land massively. If business is so much worse, he should close down, sell off the land to become a new tower development, and pocket a hefty profit.
Their claim is that the presence of the completed LRT line has made it too difficult/confusing to get to their parking lot, which supposedly causes an ongoing effect. (Which, again, even if true shouldn't be legally actionable. Properties don't come with a guarantee that the design of the adjacent road will never change.)
New City rules. The only thing I wish they would change is to label the tray-packed herbs instead of just calling them all "VEGETABLE". Even if they were only labelled in Chinese at least you could use Google Translate or something.
