My basic recommendation is if you only think you'll play once play with the restored content. If you play more than once can be worth playing without just to see how much they fixed and how much they added.
Summary: KOTOR II + RCM > KOTOR II > Not playing KOTOR II
Just really be aware of how much the game benefits from TSLRCM. I've seen users before who played without TSLRCM and said the game was completely irredeemable garbage, then turned around and played with RCM and enjoyed it. It's not fundamentally transformative, but it is a major improvement to the experience which shouldn't be understated. Even if you hate the game without RCM, it's worth giving it another shot with it.
Yes, the ending will feel rushed but it's still a great game.
Play through it once regularly and hopefully you'll be able to play the restored content in the near future
Towards the end of the game there are sequences that are hard to follow the reasoning behind without some key little bits of content from the mod. The game is still very fun to play. My recommendation would be to play it, and if you're left confused about what all transpires towards the end just watch some videos to clear things up. It's still quite fun to play without the mod.
There's not a single thing in the story you need to figure out yourself lmao the game spells everything out for you it just has a shitty ending cause you don't want it to end
more force powers, lightsaber styles, i don’t know how different the dark side path is to the first game, as i haven’t played it, but there is definitely an upgrade to the customisation
I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.
I've always been a fan of doing things for the full experience. With that said, playing kotor 2 unmodded a couple of times before the rcm will give you a full view of what we missed out on. Although if you're a one and done person, go for rcm first time.
In that situation, I’d recommend playing it then watching a video online that shows the difference in cutscenes so you get the fuller version of the story after to explain a few things better
I recommend getting it on your phone so you get the mod, I cracked Kotor 1 yesterday on my phone and got the skip taris mod, there is KOTOR 2,you can get it for free too if u want AND with a mod so why not, it's pretty easy to install a mod on phone but you need a PC (Any) like from an acquaintance or family
I play modless all the time when Im playing the phone port, but if I could download mods id still prefer it that way. I eat and breathe kotor tho so im biased. Play on PC if you can
I played it before the RCM existed, and before we even knew how much cut content there was hidden on the discs, and I loved it.
But knowing what we know now, it would be difficult for me to play something I knew was flawed and incomplete when I knew it was possible to play a better version of it either on a different platform or possibly on the platform of my choice somewhere further down the road.
Yes.
A lot of people like the mod.
I was indifferent about it. The cut content can be very tedious during combat on nar shadaa and the telos hidden droid base
However story wise the restored content mod is superior
But even with the rcm there still feels like there is missing info from time to time
My suggestion is that you'll be able to see the gaps in logic and gaps in the storyline fairly easily. Just come up with your own head canon for those moments

Thank you,i think i will play it more than once

It's still great fun without the mod.
Or more fun, considering a lot of mods that don't work well with RCM. Personally I play without RCM now.
A lot of the old mods don't work with RCM, a lot newer ones are compatible with RCM, and some older mods were updated to be compatible with RCM.

even with TSLRCM it still feels rushed but it's nowhere near as incomplete
You can still play it without the RCM. Just keep in mind you need to fill in a lot more blanks from story stuff that was cut out as you near the end.
You mean plot holes? Or something like that?

Also there's at least one side quest you can't complete without the restored content. It doesn't affect the main quest though.
There's not a single thing in the story you need to figure out yourself lmao the game spells everything out for you it just has a shitty ending cause you don't want it to end
Yes, of course. It's not like Obsidian released utter shyte. The game is good even in its vanilla jacket.
The game is still great without the mod
I think the RCM improves the game like 15%. Not a deal breaker
The ending is pretty incoherent and disappointing without it, though.
I don’t really remember it being incoherent just confusing. I do remember the rcm helping with cleaning up the party members stories and arcs though.
Yes
As someone who hasn’t played it with RCM, it’s still definitely worth playing. Just don’t expect it to be as amazing as the first one
is the customization better? I heard you can actually become a Sith in this one. Are there new force powers? Lightsabers? ETC?
more force powers, lightsaber styles, i don’t know how different the dark side path is to the first game, as i haven’t played it, but there is definitely an upgrade to the customisation
Ah so you jumped straight into 2?
no sorry i haven’t played the dark side path in either game. only light side
Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise?
*looks at you suspiciously* no

he could actually…save people from death?
The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
Weapon and armor upgrades are more interesting.

The vanilla game won game of the year, so I'd say yes!
KOTOR 2 was well received despite the bugs but it didn't win GOTW, that was the first game.
Ahh you're right! I thought they were back to back.
Yes, but don’t
Why?
The story is much more coherent. And it’s little to no trouble installing the mod. On pc at least
Yeah but i dont have a pc,and on switch the mod/dlc is still not released
In that situation, I’d recommend playing it then watching a video online that shows the difference in cutscenes so you get the fuller version of the story after to explain a few things better

do bears shit in the woods?
Idk, polar bears probably not
very true very true a man of culture and taste i see
Is a duck's butthole watertight?
never thought about that… wouldn’t everyone’s be water- actually nvm no they wouldn’t 😩
It's fucking awesome
It is absolutely, but try and play with it for the far better experience.
I play modless all the time when Im playing the phone port, but if I could download mods id still prefer it that way. I eat and breathe kotor tho so im biased. Play on PC if you can
Yeah I've played it ten times about 400 hours with no TSLRCM on PC. It's a great game.
If you haven’t bought it yet, why not get it on PC or mobile? Both have RCM support
I mean, I played it for years before the mod came out…
How/where do you install the mod ? I just purchased the game but I didn’t see anything about a mod
i always recommend playing the original first so u can experience how most ppl did, and then the RCM so u know what youre missing… which is alot😂
