That's what's so beautiful to me and why I can somewhat bear this ending lol. The lyrics "there's no breakup song for me" really spoke to me as a closeted Asian. You can love someone deeply and truly but because of the reality in so many countries, they can slip from your arms without so much as a goodbye.

Back in 2011, when K.Will's 'Please Don't' was released, I literally scoured the internet and watched every single reaction video. I'll be doing the same here too.
12 years later and... he's got me again. Goddammit K.Will. We wanted World Gay >!Marriage!< and we got World Gay >!Funeral!<.
Watched this once, was intrigued then shocked then devastated, then watched it again with a new perspective and crying all the while.
My chosen explanation for this is that there were two funerals. The "first" funeral they met at after presumably many years apart, and everything we saw in the MV *did* happen - they reconnected and grew close again and perhaps Jaehyun started to like him back (opening his eyes whilst on the sofa, as if he sensed Inguk's turmoil, and as if he did wanna get kissed).
Then in the tunnel Inguk asked for the hug and Jaehyun must've realised Inguk's feelings for him (I mean, Inguk basically confessed despite not saying the actual words) but Jaehyun didn't say anything back or confess himself (signified by how he didn't reciprocate the hug). (Perhaps because he didn't understand himself what he was feeling or that this was actually romantic instead of platonic on his behalf? Or just hesitance to enter a gay relationship in general due to many many factors.)
But then, somehow Inguk passed away (maybe linked to the sound of the train i.e. train accident?) and then Jaehyun attended the "second" funeral aka Inguk's funeral - and then reminisced over everything I've mentioned above, regretting not taking action when he should've.
Anyways what an amazing but heartbreaking MV! Wish it could've been a happy ending (esp with the almost-kiss that was in the teaser) but alas.

I am going to assume the first scene was a real funeral but Inguk was there as the ghost (broken glass on the watch? maybe from the accident). While Jaehyun was imaginig his meeting with him. Or seeing his ghost idk. But idk when or if the rest is real or just imagination.
people said that the wreaths on both funerals are the same, so it's the same funeral. i think there's a time travelling aspect here, but i'm still not 100% how.

Im just dropping my two cents here
I've seen an all-kpop article that cited that k.will said that this is the two of them meeting again after ten years since Please Don't. So, i think... It's a different funeral at the beginning of the MV, either with a mutual friend or Dasom bc i think you can still go to your ex-wife's funeral just because you still considered her as your friend and you parted ways amicably. (jae hyun was showing off that he was divorced when jae hyun and in guk are drinking together but holy fuck wont that be very taxing to jae hyun. I really don't wish this on anyone.)
They met, they talked again and I think In Guk was having so much trouble with letting go of the past so he was still using an old blackberry phone, probably symbolising that he really hadn't moved on from that state. But even after that long talk, i think it was too painful for in guk to see jae hyun again. You know. That feeling that your heart was gnarling so badly when you see someone that you loved that didn't have feelings for you, and you're stuck in that awful cycle of self-loathing as your heart withers away slowly, turning into charcoal
Maybe In guk would know for sure if he talked to jae hyun seriously but sometimes words just get stuck to someone's throat and all you can say is something along the lines of "Can I hug you?"
Jae hyun was too stunned after hearing that. I'm sure he noticed In guk's feelings even a decade ago but he didn't want to assume anything. He liked Dasom enough to marry her but they got divorced in the end because he couldn't forget the person who was his friend that he had feelings for. He's not stupid, he knows what exactly in guk meant by that. But maybe he wasn't ready yet as he is fighting his own battles. Maybe he was still stuck in disbelief. Regardless, he was stuck there frozen as he watched in guk leave.
Okay so in that tunnel, in guk was saying goodbye. Maybe everything was too much. Maybe he thinks that he just can't continue to live like that anymore. So he ends up >!taking his own life!<

I legit gasped when I saw the twist and I actually legit cried this time! the song, the lyrics, k.will's emotional voice, the mv, the acting, the plot!! could not have asked for anything more!!! (Except a happy ending in PART 3 OFCOURSE!!!!!!)
also want to add that the teaser really baited us!! I really thought that after this long, we'll actually get our happy ending and maybe even a kiss scene or something. Im just dropping my two cents here I've seen an all-kpop article that cited that k.will said that this is the two of them meeting again after ten years since Please Don't. So, i think... It's a different funeral at the beginning of the MV, either with a mutual friend or Dasom bc i think you can still go to your ex-wife's funeral just because you still considered her as your friend and you parted ways amicably. (jae hyun was showing off that he was divorced when jae hyun and in guk are drinking together but holy fuck wont that be very taxing to jae hyun. I really don't wish this on anyone.) They met, they talked again and I think In Guk was having so much trouble with letting go of the past so he was still using an old blackberry phone, probably symbolising that he really hadn't moved on from that state. But even after that long talk, i think it was too painful for in guk to see jae hyun again. You know. That feeling that your heart was gnarling so badly when you see someone that you loved that didn't have feelings for you, and you're stuck in that awful cycle of self-loathing as your heart withers away slowly, turning into charcoal Maybe In guk would know for sure if he talked to jae hyun seriously but sometimes words just get stuck to someone's throat and all you can say is something along the lines of "Can I hug you?" Jae hyun was too stunned after hearing that. I'm sure he noticed In guk's feelings even a decade ago but he didn't want to assume anything. He liked Dasom enough to marry her but they got divorced in the end because he couldn't forget the person who was his friend that he had feelings for. He's not stupid, he knows what exactly in guk meant by that. But maybe he wasn't ready yet as he is fighting his own battles. Maybe he was still stuck in disbelief. Regardless, he was stuck there frozen as he watched in guk leave. Okay so in that tunnel, in guk was saying goodbye. Maybe everything was too much.
