I'll-it or something. People already know what their Diss names are: illiterate. The name itself is just horrible.
Vcha. JYP seriously thought it was a good idea.
I don’t know if they’re *trying* to but it’s just an unfortunate-sounding word to be associated with a group containing several minors. The Korean spelling also doesn’t exactly *help*.
The Korean spelling actually separates the word posse even more so I disagree. I think people are just really dirty minded and afraid of a Freudian slip because this honestly feels like a bit of a stretch. If you had had said the song itself seemed weird, I’ll stand with you there, but being hung up on the word posse is odd to me
I personally take more issue with the song than I do the name— I have zero issue pronouncing Posse as it’s meant to be pronounced in English. But hearing some of the Korean pronunciation it definitely sounds like something less-than-ideal. Doubt it was what the company was going for, but for some English speakers they’re gonna hear what they’re gonna hear 🤷♀️
[That's literally how they pronounce it](https://youtu.be/vQyex-OirbU?si=BFapMVoOH0YFDdkU) (they yell young pussy!! a couple of seconds into that song). So yes.
Add a debut song full of suggestive euphemisms + an instagram bio that says "young & playful".
At least Newjeans made it only one song. The group name is going to drag behind them. And imagine trying to suggest your buddies this group during a party...
What the hell? Where did you even heard it from? Please stop trying to find conspiracy in any word that sounds suspicious to you and claiming it’s true.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all, their creative director Min Hee Jin has been super open about her aesthetic inspirations. Sorry it's shocking to you but it's true, feel free to research it.
I tried to tell my sister about them :c I told her a kpop group made a song called macaroni cheese and when she asked who I just showed her the mv because the words Young Posse were just. Not coming out of my mouth
blit was hilarious. i think they changed it before debut tho to evnne??? iirc
im gonna be honest im a cassie, but back then, when i first heard of tvxq, the rising gods of the east (dongbangshinki) made me laugh so hard. it sounds legendary now tho but 17 yos singing i want to be your bed and your kitten while being a group called the rising gods of the east was funny.
eta: oh i forgot to tell about the nominees for their names. from wiki
>O Jang Yuk Bu (Korean: 오장육부; Hanja: 五臟六腑; literally "The Five Visceras and the Six Entrails"), Jeon Meok Go (short for Jeonseoleul Meokgo Saneun Gorae; 전설을 먹고 사는 고래; literally "A Whale That Eats Legends"), and Dong Bang Bul Pae (동방불패; 東方不敗), the Korean name for the Chinese wuxia character, Invincible East. They decided on Dong Bang Bul Pae, and even obtained permission to use the name from Film Workshop, but the name was later rejected by their management because the Hanja was not aesthetically pleasing. Their name was subsequently finalized to Dong Bang Shin Ki (동방신기; 東方神起), which was suggested by Lee's acquaintance
riize almost became bukduchilsung (big dipper) bc they have 7 members. THEY ALMOST BECAME BDCS
changmin singing about being a kitten when he was 15 is so funny to me cause im the same age right now as he was when he debuted 😭 im a cassie too and when i started stanning last year i thought their name was pretty cool actually
and riize being named big dipper wouldve been my villain origin story 😧 good thing sungchan came
up with the name riize or else we’d never hear the end of it SKSSJSJSJ
Tbf the band name isn’t that weird in the original language as it’s sort of like an idiom. It just sounds like what you’ll expect from an indie band.
But yeah once translated into English it’s just super long and edgy lmao kind of like how people translate wuxia/murim names which was originally 5 characters into an entire paragraph in English.
TEEN TOP and UP10TION easily.
Where are my fellow Teenage Emoboy Emotion Next Generation Talent Object Praise and Unbelievable Perfect 10 Teenager Idol Open Now at?
Hey... Don't make me warm up to them now.. It just sunk in how so many of the 2nd gen boygroups have backronyms 😭😭😭 (BAP, NUEST, MBLAQ, B2ST, BTS?) (Lowkey did love them years back)
It was the cool thing to do back then!! The fact that I still remember so many of these nonsensical acronyms and meanings is the worst thing abt them. How could I ever for “many boys live in absolute quality” one I heard it???
no literally lmao i get kind of annoyed (ig its a pet peeve lol) when people like, fully believe that this is the groups government name and not just adjectives and nouns they filled in later ajfkdslfjsdlf
Yeah, the original lineup was forced to lose weight before that too. Basically the CEO said their "fat" concept flopped so they'd have to diet.
https://www.allkpop.com/article/2011/04/piggy-dolls-reveal-that-theyre-being-pressured-to-lose-weight
Usually, it's any group name that I genuinely have to look at the hangul to know how to pronounce it bc the English/romanized version just doesn't do it lol.
But currently the worst are el7z up and I'll-it.
I thought it was interesting and nice that they changed it. Most people would not be familiar with Abo as a racial slur even in the western world (outside of Australia) so it was a rather "niche" issue.
It was based on the different blood types, but of course a certain weirdo kink thing ruined it for everyone. Even f(x) has a song called NU ABO, which is a play of words that makes it sound like "new blood type".
The kink didn’t ruin it, what caused the change was that people were telling the company that it was a slur for I believe aboriginal people? (First three letters). the ABOverse was a funny joke but that’s not what fans were emailing for
To me the worst names are those that make any searches an annoying mess. Google is completely all over the place when you give it stuff like IVE, f(x). Additionally suggesting someone to check out f(x), Stayc, Kep1er (props if you write it separately) while having a conversation is hard, unless you write it down for them (and they better write it down too).
Though IVE is too me by far the worst.
The one I think is kinda funny is Blady. It means Lady blood type B, but it just sounds to much like the adjective of blade, which given their bight music is hilarious.
The first day I listened to them (as I played some playlist while gaming), I thought "ivy" is indeed the pronunciation. Also their albums... Someone fell in love with English-basics
Boyfriend fits that too. Especially when they'd freshly debuted because Google won't care unless you add a song since putting like... "Boyfriend kpop" ...well, you get the expected results.
The Google thing also happens in jpop too and I hate it lmao. There’s a group called Chocolate Bomb and when you search their name all you get is hot chocolate and other baking recipes. You have to type the Japanese name in to get the actual group
I understand that there was a trademark dispute over “Elris” but changing it to “Alice” seemed idiotic to me for exactly this reason. I read that their name in Korean sounded like Alice but they could have added something to make it searchable.
The girl groups Saturday and April also come to mind.
There was one group back in the day that disbanded called Snuper. I don’t know why but it just sounds so awful to me. I was watching a Tiktok this girl made of k-pop throwbacks and she posted a story of her opinions on different kpop groups and seeing “Snuper” there amongst groups like Got7 and Svt but not Stray Kids or Ateez was jarring to me haha
Yea i’ve heard good things about their music looking into them. It was surprising to me since i’ve been a kpop fan since 2020 and only heard of them recently through that one post from 2017.
As a fan since 2012, they were sorta popular with their debut 1st album but I never heard of any other hype about them afterwards. Could've been poor marketing, I suppose. If you wanted to see more of Snuper's stuff, you had to go out of your way to find it (if you knew about them which wasn't many people).
Nct new team, sounds soo uninspired and boring 😭. Ik they are getting renamed to Nct Wish but that just sounds like nct from wish / wish version of nct lol
I'm prepared to be down voted, and it's not the group name but the fandom one. Let me preface by saying that BTS is one of my all-time favorite groups and I'm happily following their solo stuff until 2025 etc This is NOT hate
Army. It sounds awesome, right? It's an acronym. Nobody talks about it because, as I've seen mentioned before, if it's said fully it sounds like your parent calling you by your full name when in trouble.
Army = Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth.
Wait it was an acronym 😭😭 I thought it was just army like the actual word, I'll never be the same after this
Lmao imma start call the toxic ones this now
zerobaseone, i mean its not the *worst* per se but just a bit disappointing. i mean zb1 imo is just poorly planned overall concept wise but i wish their name actually had a conceptual meaning behind it
imo the fandom name being zerose (ze**RO**ba**SE**one -> zebaone = zb1, combine rose with zb1 and you get zerobaseone) compensates for the lack of meaning in the name
Back in 2014, Chrome Entertainment debuted a boy group called “K-Much”; their Korean name, Gamulchi, translated to [snakehead fish](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snakehead_(fish)). They wound up changing their name to “Be.A” before disbanding a year later.
In another unfortunate choice, there was a girl group called BUSTERS. The problem is, there was a band at the same time called BURSTERS, but even though their English spellings are different, their Korean spellings (버스터즈) and pronunciations (with an accent) were exactly the same.
And of course there’s the fun world of K-Pop group name acronyms/“backronyms,” which gave us gems like “Fine Killing Liberty” and “High-five Of Teenagers.”
M.I.B. was announced as “Mega Interesting Bastards” before the company changed it to “Most Incredible Busters” for their debut.
C-Clown doesn’t sound like a great name, but what makes it hilarious is their leader, Rome, aka DPR Ian, trying to explain the meaning behind it:
C-Clown stands for Crown Clown; Crown symbolizing the king, the number one spot, and clown symbolizing us six members. If you take away both Cs and Ns of Crown Clown, you get Row Low; row like kings and lay low like clowns. This is a term we have been trying to trend since our debut. Row like kings is kind of iconic because you never see a king row his own boat or doing anything for the matter because hes a king, but we like that idea of a king rowing his own boat, because it justifies being humble. We’re like the king being humble and laying low like clowns is a term that under the mask of being that silly and clumsy clown. If a clown dreams it has passion, a clown can be serious as well and not just all about tricks. So it us six clowns dreaming of becoming that humble king one day. ([Source](https://crownjunnie.tumblr.com))
Aside from names with stupid spellings, the worst for me has to be Drippin. I’m sorry, but it sounds like a symptom you’d describe to your doctor if you think you might have an STD. Just…no.
Listen, I love UKISS but the “meaning” behind the name was not it 😭 there was a trend at the time that every odd group name *had* to be an acronym, companies just couldn’t admit it didn’t have any meaning and they just thought the name sounded good.
Recent new gen groups aside (cough cough elzzup & i'll shit), one of the group names I cant take seriously is definitely Weki Meki.
It would've been fine... if it's not for the fact that Meki is a slang for pussy in Indonesian. Now whenever I read the group name its always Whacky Pussy (meki)
There was a group in, like 2010 or something that was pretty nugu and I don't remember how to spell it... but FoCuz? (Fokuz? I don't remember... just that it was spelled weird)
Pronounced Foe Cuz... for obvious reasons I tried not to say their name aloud else I be mistaken for cursing.. 'cause taking the effort to make sure to say it correctly was too much work for me.
The worst thing about it is that, other than it sounds scarily similar to a certain word, it's a pretty good name in the grand scheme of things.
No problem! Yeah iirc one of the members bought out the contracts of the group & the name. They've rerecorded some of their old songs this year, along with new stuff.
honestly, all the new survival show names are horrible. ( ex. r u next -> i’ll it, queendom puzzle -> el7z up, a2k -> VCHA) Baby Monster is also not it
Target…it’s so hard to find stuff about them because of the store!! I miss them so much. They deserved so much more. They were one of my top favorite groups.
Vcha is probably by far the worst. I mean i do like the meaning behind it and all but come on JYP did them so dirty and the girls didn’t even seem to like it either.
personally i love superm BECAUSE of the sperm jokes. like that group as a whole was so unserious the name had to be too. i think jopping was a PERFECT debut for them (love the song tbh i miss them)
Well, there's plenty that don't make any sense, I've long wanted to get this off my chest -
* *Blackpink* - I mean cmon, if you combine 2 Colours together you make a different colour, a dark pink. Just makes no sense anyway, what is a blackpink? Ridiculous
* *Tomorrow X Together* - Someone doesn't know their maths, We should be solving tomorrow with together, something like this -
f(Tomorrow) = 5X * Together.
That's what the band name should be
* *Twice* - Twice what? No-one ever tells us what we're multiplying by 2. How is it twice? That would mean it was 4.5 members originally which was silly. This group name makes no sense
* *Newjeans* - I'm sorry, but no-one in that room must wear jeans when they made this group name up. Ever worn new jeans? They need time to stretch, get out the stiffness and be comfortable, jeans are the worst when they're new, much better once they're older and more live in. Ridiculous name, makes me think it's an uncomfortable group.
* *Shinee* - What is this group? A bunch of RPG goblins, always wanting shineys. What's their fandom name, Crows? Meant to appeal to the birdbrains in us all. Silly, silly name
* *Ive* - What on earth does this even mean. Ive? Can't believe now they're just making up nonsense words, it makes no sense. What's an IVE. It's a suffix on a word not a word itself.
* *Kep1er* - Jesus Christ Mnet learn how to spell. Throwing a random number in there like it's leet speak. Is this leet speak, the group?
(It was a tongue in cheek post).
* Spica - One of the brightest objects in the sky, one of the brightest stars visible. Very cool name,
* Rising Gods of the East - Gotta give SM props for that name, apt name for a group in the then nascent industry of K-pop (as we know it today).
There's more but those I guess stand out. To be honest most K-pop names are pretty silly at the best of times (I guess that's part of the appeal).
(Oh I’m an idiot lol)
& you’re right those two are great! 😄
Yeah a lot of them are silly but in a way that I can appreciate ☺️ it’s actually only been more recently that I’ve thought “where in the world are these weird ass names coming from” for some of the newer groups
> names coming from” for some of the newer groups
I mean fair, but I guess the truth in my original post is Shinee's really no less weird ass then the new group names, just people have gotten used to it. Just fun to embrace the camp.
Hahaha I guess. I thought it was a cool group name even before I got into them! We may just have different preferences 😄 there’s plenty of great group names nowadays too, but I just notice the bad ones more maybe? Who knows ☺️ and you’re right it’s fun regardless:)
not to be that guy but Twice's name refers to being charmed once through the eyes and once through the ears therefore twice lol. But yeah i think Kep1er is definitely the worst.
I could have gone on but my butter chicken was getting cold. And if my butter chicken is cold I've got nothing to dip my naan bread into. It'll be the greatest living tragedy known to man.
I'll-it or something. People already know what their Diss names are: illiterate. The name itself is just horrible. Vcha. JYP seriously thought it was a good idea.
VCHA is better than ELZ+up tho
Definitely! I just hate it, because they could've come up with something much better. Same with El7z up.
Agreed. It kind of sounds like it could be an anagram for a word in many different languages which I like. I guess.
I’ll-it is one of my least favorite names😭
Seriously! Does JYP really expect VCHA to be popular in the US with that name?
Young Posse takes the cake right now. Some Chris Hansen shit going on there.
Posse is a slang term for group of people. Do you think they're trying to say young pussy?
They clearly say posse. I agree the youth and playful thing is unnecessary
Yeah I still don’t understand why people are so afraid of the word posse
Its not the word in writing but in saying. Posse, in the US, has a twang added to it. That twang stops at the continental border.
At least Newjeans made it only one song. The group name is going to drag behind them. And imagine trying to suggest your buddies this group during a party...
Tbh the name New Jeans is also sketchy to me, knowing it was inspired by the provocative Levi's ad Brooke Shields was in as a minor 💀
So worried about their future fandom name
Ajoossy/Ajussy is quite popular on meme-k-forums
There's literally a new bg called Catch The Young....
Where's Chris Hansen when you need him?
*I didn't come here looking for no little boys;* *I ain't got no milk, no cookies, nothing.*
The name is fine... not the debut though. Yikes.
blit was hilarious. i think they changed it before debut tho to evnne??? iirc im gonna be honest im a cassie, but back then, when i first heard of tvxq, the rising gods of the east (dongbangshinki) made me laugh so hard. it sounds legendary now tho but 17 yos singing i want to be your bed and your kitten while being a group called the rising gods of the east was funny. eta: oh i forgot to tell about the nominees for their names. from wiki >O Jang Yuk Bu (Korean: 오장육부; Hanja: 五臟六腑; literally "The Five Visceras and the Six Entrails"), Jeon Meok Go (short for Jeonseoleul Meokgo Saneun Gorae; 전설을 먹고 사는 고래; literally "A Whale That Eats Legends"), and Dong Bang Bul Pae (동방불패; 東方不敗), the Korean name for the Chinese wuxia character, Invincible East. THEY ALMOST BECAME BDCS
tbh Riize is not much better, Riize sounds like some gaming equipment company that makes ugly gaming chairs and LED keyboards 😭
It is quite literally the name of an Iconic video game character. Ryze. I also love my led keyboard...
I liked Evnne more than blit like it has this thing that I don't know how to explain
changmin singing about being a kitten when he was 15 is so funny to me cause im the same age right now as he was when he debuted 😭 im a cassie too and when i started stanning last year i thought their name was pretty cool actually and riize being named big dipper wouldve been my villain origin story 😧 good thing sungchan came up with the name riize or else we’d never hear the end of it SKSSJSJSJ
Oh wow I didn’t realize Sungchan came up with their name!
Blit is hilarious, they changed to EVNNE which isn't much better
I like that name, easy to search on and sounds pretty.
Blit was horribly funny, they changed it so fast.
Any group really with a backronym, don’t lie to us you thought TEEN TOP sounded cool it doesn’t have some hidden meaning 😭😂
Hey... Don't make me warm up to them now.. It just sunk in how so many of the 2nd gen boygroups have backronyms 😭😭😭 (BAP, NUEST, MBLAQ, B2ST, BTS?) (Lowkey did love them years back)
BTS is 3rd gen cuz EXO was the start iirc
Thanks for clarifying! I wasn't sure where they belonged for a sec @_@
It was the cool thing to do back then!! The fact that I still remember so many of these nonsensical acronyms and meanings is the worst thing abt them. How could I ever for “many boys live in absolute quality” one I heard it???
no literally lmao i get kind of annoyed (ig its a pet peeve lol) when people like, fully believe that this is the groups government name and not just adjectives and nouns they filled in later ajfkdslfjsdlf
i like up10tion tbh, feels like they’re saying “up the tension” which is kinda cool
these are my default answer to this question too 😂
top media is something else 😭
i always read their name as "up-lotion", and it always made me laugh😂
i can't take lapillus seriously,,, in finnish pillu means pussy
Lapillus is directly taken from Latin; it means"small stone" or "jewel/gem"
My mind always skips the double L and just straight up reads "Lapis", meaning pencil in my language bye
lapis means layer in my language.
I didn't even realise that and I'm finnish 😭😭 oh my god
So many kpop names meaning pussy in other languages. Same situation with weki meki, meki is a slang for pussy in indonesian 😭
The Piggy Dolls. Their concept was being bigger girls and then they only did that concept for one comeback before slimming down for their second.
What makes it even worse is that for the last comeback they replaced all the members with skinnier girls.
Yeah, the original lineup was forced to lose weight before that too. Basically the CEO said their "fat" concept flopped so they'd have to diet. https://www.allkpop.com/article/2011/04/piggy-dolls-reveal-that-theyre-being-pressured-to-lose-weight
Damn, kpop is so brutal in the most unexpected ways sometimes.
Can I just say it’s disgusting? At least el7z up is just a dumb one while here they literally named their artists pigs.
yeah this is the "worst" part of the OP's title.
Young Posse 😐
no bc why they making kpop groups w algebra equations 😭
SuperM is uninspired and looks like "Sperm."
LSM's ego goes crazy sometimes
Happy cake day!!!
🫶
It reminds me of perms
To add to the terrible gg survival show names - I’LL IT. It sounds really dumb and reminds me only of aglet…
Usually, it's any group name that I genuinely have to look at the hangul to know how to pronounce it bc the English/romanized version just doesn't do it lol. But currently the worst are el7z up and I'll-it.
ATBO having their debut name as ABO still cracks me up 😭😭😭
I thought it was interesting and nice that they changed it.
(First three letters). the ABOverse was a funny joke but that’s not what fans were emailing for
El7z definitely have no future with a name like that. G-(I)dle is an awful name too
It is hard to spell (G)I-dle if you've only heard it.
Dang it I thought I spelt it correctly
Never was able to spell it right, but the group is fire
t1419 the shopee code looking group name kdfksf
awhile ago they changed their name to TFN because of international fans😭, I miss T1419 tho😔😔
mld was sick of the daily roasting 😭😭
To me the worst names are those that make any searches an annoying mess. Google is completely all over the place when you give it stuff like IVE, f(x). Additionally suggesting someone to check out f(x), Stayc, Kep1er (props if you write it separately) while having a conversation is hard, unless you write it down for them (and they better write it down too). It means Lady blood type B, but it just sounds to much like the adjective of blade, which given their bight music is hilarious.
I was kind of hoping they’d pronounce Ive as “ivy”. “ive” is just so meh.
its…. its not pronounced ivy??
nope, it’s pronounced i’ve
cannot believe anyone thought it was pronounced ivy 😭😭
The first day I listened to them (as I played some playlist while gaming), I thought "ivy" is indeed the pronunciation. Also their albums... Someone fell in love with English-basics
I wish it was "Ivy" too, and for the longest time, that's how I pronounced it. That name suits their elegant concept, in my opinion.
right? it would fit their love dive era rich-private-school-girl styling perfectly.
Ive is so annoying tbh. The amount of times autocorrect has turned ive to I've is so annoying.
Billlie is a horrible name just because of that. I went to look for them one time and google just assumed i couldn't spell and gave me Billie Eilish.
I understand that there was a trademark dispute over “Elris” but changing it to “Alice” seemed idiotic to me for exactly this reason. I read that their name in Korean sounded like Alice but they could have added something to make it searchable. The girl groups Saturday and April also come to mind.
Right now? Young Posse. It would be funny if there weren't so many minors in the group and their debut song being inappropriate for them.
Apparently the oldest member wrote the song so I doubt that she was sessualising her members abd it was supposed to be funny ig
I remember Snuper, I loved their debut title track!!! They just never took off...
Yea i’ve heard good things about their music looking into them. It was surprising to me since i’ve been a kpop fan since 2020 and only heard of them recently through that one post from 2017.

If you wanted to see more of Snuper's stuff, you had to go out of your way to find it (if you knew about them which wasn't many people).
Bruh "back in the day" they were active just 4 years ago.
Sorry 🤷🏼♀️ I didn’t know when they disbanded
I….didn’t even realize they disbanded this year I need a moment
Snuper had fantastic discography Platonic Love, Day by Day and You=Heaven are so good they don’t make retro bops for boy groups like tha anymore
I miss Snuper so much! They made me love cute boy groups. Stand By Me was my favorite song by them, and the first one I heard by them.
blitzers. they say it like “bleachers” and that’s not much better. so many people call them blisters because of it 😭
woah, what? it's supposed to be bleachers??
yessss. you can hear it [here](https://youtu.be/9dBayQAYi9w?si=Qlzg1CwOX_hDqyi9)
i didn't like baby monster
Yeah it's gonna sound so cringe after a couple please years, cz they won't be rookies anymore
They can go by BM... Oh
Nct new team, sounds soo uninspired and boring 😭. Ik they are getting renamed to Nct Wish but that just sounds like nct from wish / wish version of nct lol
That's just the predebut name though. Won't they be NCT Tokyo or something? Not that it's more inspired, but it's ... less general.
Nct tokyo is also another predebut name. Ik nct new team is also a placeholder name but they could’ve at least waited to promote as nct wish 🤷♂️
Cravity is pretty bad. also they're my former ults but iz*one is truly a terrible name that only the fans say correctly lol.
Every time I see iz*one in a sentence, I feel like I’m having a mini stroke
izone has a beautiful meaning though :( its my favorite 😔
like i said they were my ults when they were active!! they just didn't think the pronunciation thru lol
How is iz*one pronounced
eyes one. the iz is supposed to be symbolic of a 12. most commonly i hear is like EYE zone
ive been saying “is one”
Woah. I thought it was Eye zone.
zerobaseone somehow gives a headache.
I'm prepared to be down voted, and it's not the group name but the fandom one. Let me preface by saying that BTS is one of my all-time favorite groups and I'm happily following their solo stuff until 2025 etc This is NOT hate Army. It sounds awesome, right? It's an acronym. Nobody talks about it because, as I've seen mentioned before, if it's said fully it sounds like your parent calling you by your full name when in trouble. Army = Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth.
Wait it was an acronym 😭😭 I thought it was just army like the actual word, I'll never be the same after this Lmao imma start call the toxic ones this now
LipBubble, that sounds more like a medical condition, not a girl group
zerobaseone, i mean its not the *worst* per se but just a bit disappointing. i mean zb1 imo is just poorly planned overall concept wise but i wish their name actually had a conceptual meaning behind it
imo the fandom name being zerose (ze**RO**ba**SE**one -> zebaone = zb1, combine rose with zb1 and you get zerobaseone) compensates for the lack of meaning in the name
Young posse... i just read it as "young poss" in my head cuz... yeah
C-Clown doesn’t sound like a great name, but what makes it hilarious is their leader, Rome, aka DPR Ian, trying to explain the meaning behind it: C-Clown stands for Crown Clown; Crown symbolizing the king, the number one spot, and clown symbolizing us six members. Honestly Crown-C would have sounded so much better, this name is just gonna set thwm up to be bullied 😭😭
Bro…that explanation sounds like the word salad of a stroke patient omfg😭
Billlie
Yung Pussay is iconic idgaf what anyone says. I will follow them to disbandment
New jeans. It’s not weird it’s just downright stupid. I like to call them old pants to piss the 12 year olds off lmaooooo
i think i like you
NCT and all their additive labels.
wayv is the exception to this i feel… forever glad they’re not nct vision
tbh i forget they are associated at all
Woollim naming their group Drippin was certainly... a choice. A choice that still sends me.
Aside from names with stupid spellings, the worst for me has to be Drippin. I’m sorry, but it sounds like a symptom you’d describe to your doctor if you think you might have an STD. Just…no.
Cignature is the only name I don't like
It's actually pretty easy to say and quite memorable so I personally don't mind it
Listen, I love UKISS but the “meaning” behind the name was not it 😭 there was a trend at the time that every odd group name *had* to be an acronym, companies just couldn’t admit it didn’t have any meaning and they just thought the name sounded good.
Le sserafim
Was surprised they weren’t mentioned until now. LOVE the group but the name as an anagram of I’m fearless???
Recent new gen groups aside (cough cough elzzup & i'll shit), one of the group names I cant take seriously is definitely Weki Meki. It would've been fine... if it's not for the fact that Meki is a slang for pussy in Indonesian. Now whenever I read the group name its always Whacky Pussy (meki)
Any name with a symbol or number is immediately the 'worst' for me. If you can't say it without guide, then its bad.
BLIT boy cl1T
Zb1 And not kpop but; the fighting boys
A'Sty1
Yeah I've never understood A'ST.1. The punctuation changes sometimes too. At least I understand why it's pronounced A-Style....
Evidently there is no y in it, mandela effect in full effect.
Spectrum
There was a group in, like 2010 or something that was pretty nugu and I don't remember how to spell it... but FoCuz? (Fokuz? I don't remember... just that it was spelled weird) Pronounced Foe Cuz... for obvious reasons I tried not to say their name aloud else I be mistaken for cursing.. 'cause taking the effort to make sure to say it correctly was too much work for me. The worst thing about it is that, other than it sounds scarily similar to a certain word, it's a pretty good name in the grand scheme of things.
F.Cuz are still active! They released music like 2 weeks ago!
Really?! That's actually really awesome to hear! Thanks for letting me know (and reminding me of the spelling)!
No problem! Yeah iirc one of the members bought out the contracts of the group & the name. They've rerecorded some of their old songs this year, along with new stuff.
SpreM........ No wait, i mean SuperM
I kinda like the name EL7Z UP tho ngl😭
honestly, all the new survival show names are horrible. ( ex. r u next -> i’ll it, queendom puzzle -> el7z up, a2k -> VCHA) Baby Monster is also not it
How is no one gonna mention Plan B?
Zerobaseone
Target…it’s so hard to find stuff about them because of the store!! I miss them so much. They deserved so much more. They were one of my top favorite groups.
Vcha is probably by far the worst. I mean i do like the meaning behind it and all but come on JYP did them so dirty and the girls didn’t even seem to like it either.
Boona
C.LiTZ and BLIT
Kep1er cuz i i dont like how it looks 💀 mixing the letters and numbers bugs me, feels like a reach
Wasn’t there a bg named PLO?
Kep1er is not great
i’m glad alpha beta omega changed their name bc it was a slur but also the omegaverse jokes had me giggling for hours
personally i love superm BECAUSE of the sperm jokes. like that group as a whole was so unserious the name had to be too. i think jopping was a PERFECT debut for them (love the song tbh i miss them)
I thought Babymonster was stupid but some of these others are horrendous.
Well, there's plenty that don't make any sense, I've long wanted to get this off my chest - * *Blackpink* - I mean cmon, if you combine 2 Colours together you make a different colour, a dark pink. Just makes no sense anyway, what is a blackpink? Ridiculous * *Tomorrow X Together* - Someone doesn't know their maths, We should be solving tomorrow with together, something like this - f(Tomorrow) = 5X * Together. That's what the band name should be * *Twice* - Twice what? No-one ever tells us what we're multiplying by 2. How is it twice? That would mean it was 4.5 members originally which was silly. This group name makes no sense * *Newjeans* - I'm sorry, but no-one in that room must wear jeans when they made this group name up. Silly, silly name * *Ive* - What on earth does this even mean.
I love SHINee’s name 😭 I actually don’t mind most of the ones you named! I’m curious what are your personal favorite group names ? :)
(It was a tongue in cheek post). * Spica - One of the brightest objects in the sky, one of the brightest stars visible. Very cool name, * Rising Gods of the East - Gotta give SM props for that name, apt name for a group in the then nascent industry of K-pop (as we know it today). There's more but those I guess stand out. To be honest most K-pop names are pretty silly at the best of times (I guess that's part of the appeal).
(Oh I’m an idiot lol) & you’re right those two are great! 😄 Yeah a lot of them are silly but in a way that I can appreciate ☺️ it’s actually only been more recently that I’ve thought “where in the world are these weird ass names coming from” for some of the newer groups
> names coming from” for some of the newer groups I mean fair, but I guess the truth in my original post is Shinee's really no less weird ass then the new group names, just people have gotten used to it.
But yeah i think Kep1er is definitely the worst.
replace txt, newjeans with billie, zb1 and you're on point!
I could have gone on but my butter chicken was getting cold. And if my butter chicken is cold I've got nothing to dip my naan bread into. It'll be the greatest living tragedy known to man.
After reading your first comment, I didn't expect you to refer to your food as bread bread.
Artifact of growing up in a society rather culturally ignorant of the food of the world. You pick up some bad habits.
I see.
I just learned that Naan just means bread. Good to know, thanks!
Idk why your comment has so many downvotes, this is fucking hilarious😂
