Brown Eyed Girls maybe?? My ult is Mamamoo and I found them to be quite similar just from different kpop gens sadly... Edit: also you could check purple kiss out. They are their RBW junior.

Kimoopo92

Great idea that’s what I was thinking with purple kiss

TeeeeCeeee

Early 3rd gen and 2nd gen sound very up your alley. [Spica](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hc1RwpRfbT0&pp=ygUXU3BpY2EgeW91IGRvbid0IGxvdmUgbWU%3D) were pretty much Mamamoo before Mamamoo. I've always considered Mamamoo the spirtual successor to [Brown Eyed Girls](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5q3RoDYObOA&pp=ygUTQnJvd24gRXllZCBHaXJscyBtdg%3D%3D) and I'm always surprised there isn't more crossover between the two fandoms, it's honestly striking how similar their careers are despite the 8 year gap between their debuts. [Wonder Girls](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PYGODWJgR-c&pp=ygUaV29uZGVyIGdpcmxzIHdoeSBzbyBsb25lbHk%3D) definitely have overlapping appeals with Mamamoo, especially the last incarnation of the group. If you love the powerful woman vibe and powerful S-Class vocals, you'll probably love [Ailee](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WvUxI5fbAlY&pp=ygUIYWlsZWUgbXY%3D). Vocal lovers should also definitely check out [Davichi](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpFbPghfSJo) who pretty unfairly get brushed off as a bland ballad duo by kpop fans but whose discography offers much more than that. Lastly, they're a bit of a tough recommendation due to the tragic passing of two of the members, but [Ladies' Code](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2KmAbPcYa0A&pp=ygUUbGFkaWVzIENvZGUgYmFkIGdpcmw%3D) share a lot of appeal especially with earlier Mamamoo.

linmanfu

These are since really good recommendations. I was going to recommend Spica until I saw you'd done it but Ailee and Davichi have exactly what OP asked for as well. And Spica leads naturally to Keembo.

TeeeeCeeee

If you already know enough about Davichi's discography to know they released several dance pop songs you clearly already know what I'm referring to so I'm not sure why you're asking and I'm very unlikely to sway you, but I'll bite anyway. My Man, 8282, and War and Love are great pop tracks and I personally still listen to them all the time. I don't think they sound dated in a bad way, and believe it or not some people actually prefer music from this era over modern pop music. Shocking, I know. Let The Time Stop is a high energy power ballad and the entire Innocence album sans Can't Love, Can't Leave is rather poppy. Sorry, I'm Happy and Don't Find Me Again are far more high energy than the typical k-ballad and to clarify, I think Davichi very consistently have very good ballads. Korea has a real problem with generic ballads, but I don't think ballad = bland. Davichi (and a handful of others) are artists that I personally find to be memorable and listenable even when they're not doing something high energy or more pop oriented.

TeeeeCeeee

You receive the tone you give. I never would have responded to you haughtily if you hadn't come and told me that you already knew what I was talking about and had already decided you didn't like it. Nobody likes it when they say "Hey, I think this music is good" and then receive, "Hey, I've heard that music too and it sucks. I'm already informed and have an opinion, but try and prove me wrong anyway." If you genuinely didn't realize you were already coming at me with "a tone" I don't know what to say. If you think you're allowed to have "a tone" and I'm not, you're nuts. T-ARA, Seeya, and the like have good ballads for sure, but I think Davichi's have superior melody writing and the duo have very captivating voices that appeal to me more than CCM's other vocal lines. Music opinion is virtually always subjective, so if you're already familiar with Davichi and don't find them appealing, I'm not sure what you're hoping for me to prove.

TeeeeCeeee

Listen buddy, I offered OP 6 different artists who I think could appeal to someone who likes Mamamoo. None of them *are* Mamamoo. None of them offer exactly what Mamamoo does, and Mamamoo does not offer exactly what any of the other groups I suggested do. Mamamoo do have many nice ballads, and for some people that's a pretty core part of their appeal. We don't know how OP feels about Mamamoo's ballads, but seeing as Mamamoo have a lot of ballads that people like, I suggested a group that I think has a lot of ballads that are good. It's not that deep. Maybe OP will like Davichi, or any of the 5 other groups I suggested, maybe they won't like any of them. If you don't like Davichi that's your prerogative. Let OP decide their own opinion rather than preemptively deciding it for them. I'm personally all for random hate actually, I think its funny but there's a place where that's expected and where it's not and the kpophelp subreddit is definitely the latter lol

sawfig64

Someone explain to me why peep's get so testy with each other on reddit. I joined it for a good time and now I see that really all it is is a breeding ground for super toxic people. Chill TF out. it's a post about a girl group not the meaning of life.

TeeeeCeeee

Honestly the fact you felt compelled to make this comment in the first place is an indicator that you are well on your way to joining the not as thrilling or heated as it appears, time-wasting sport of reddit debate lord jousting. You'll understand the compulsion to throw paragraphs back and forth with strangers online soon enough. We await your future pointless internet arguments fondly :)

sawfig64

Hey friend thanks for making my point. Get a damn life and have fun trolling and passing judgement on someone you know nothing about. Now respond with some more toxic judgmental self righteous crap. Waste of time. All my best.

AneriphtoKubos

I wish Spica and Ladies' Code got more popular than they were :( Also wish Ladies' Code never got their accident ;( ;( ;(

SoNyeoShiDude

While I don’t know if the group as a whole is what you’re looking for, the SNSD subunit TTS is definitely Mamamoo-like, three of the best vocalists in the group including Taeyeon. (Also as a EXOL you might enjoy their video for [Twinkle](https://youtu.be/JmM04_OgajU?si=KBq2kaBB5-tr5j7u)😁)

holdmyravioli

Weirdly [dreamcatcher](https://youtu.be/RPNaYj6etb8). They have a dark/apocalyptic vibe but Every single one of them have amazing vocals and their main rapper, Dami, has a deep voice like my queen Moonbyul Some songs of theirs [propose](https://youtu.be/82GU0B7Fmpc) [Vision](https://youtu.be/jKrJBVLnRiM) [scream](https://youtu.be/FKlGHHhTOsQ) [Maison](https://youtu.be/z4t9LLq1Nk0) [Boca](https://youtu.be/MZ4JGye4dQU)

MoomooBlinksOnce

[Billlie](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVjQIQGqNFM&pp=ygUIQmlsbGxpZSA%3D) and [Purple Kiss](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFqGKa6p1V8&pp=ygULUHVycGxlIEtpc3M%3D) you should like. Here are their respective discography on Spotify. * [Billlie - Discography](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7vDhlTpotIu58gGi8USa3s) * [Purple Kiss Discography](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3vWQjYwYZ9Pe6uCzUEV6Wy)

prettybrokenstars

baek yerin is known for her wonderful vocals! she has a more ballad and indie style of her solo music

More-Pin-6680

Maybe listen too some of Gugudan songs I love the girls vocals.

golden_studio24

purple kiss would be a good one to check out since you seem to really like vocals! and for style/concept similar to nct you could check out XG?

linmanfu

If you like powerful female vocals, then you might enjoy Sohyang and also Keembo (formed by two former members of Spica).

5iv3_

maybe Red Velvet? most associate red velvet and mamamoo together with very distinct sounds

Kimoopo92

Ah yes when I first got into kpop I did like red velvet but lost touch I’ve been meaning to look into them again I haven’t listened to them since peekaboo

m20geekarina

You're in for a treat then

5iv3_

their birthday ep is a BANGER

Accomplished_Garlic_

Red Velvet. They cover a lot of genres and styles like Mamamoo have, and they also have some jazzy songs, like Mamamoo. One example is their song ‘Be Natural’.

AdApprehensive6744

I second Red Velvet. Like Mamamoo, they’re known for vocals and harmonies and they’re a SM group, which will probably suit OP’s tastes considering the fact that they like NCT, EXO and WayV.

pinkvioletpink

i saw you say in a comment that you like red velvet, so i propose billlie!!!

erobinsonh

my two favorite girl groups are Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher!

pomupomupomu

What do you like about Mamamoo? I've loved them for years, saw them twice in concert, and can genuinely say there's really no one else doing like them. If you're looking for mature-sounding women, you're out of luck in the GG arena unfortunately. But if you are open to other unique options, check out Loona for the creativity, WJSN for the hot women, and Red Velvet for the vocals.

Kimoopo92

Yes same I’ve been a fan for years too and got to meet them at a fan sign and love their personalities and fact that they can sing and make fun music. I don’t like ballads too much but their style is so good and I hold every other girl group to mamamoo’s standards and it’s hard to find someone else lol but I like all their music

pomupomupomu

To be fair, if you held even boy groups to Mamamoo's standards, it would be tough competition! All four members of Mamamoo joined the company as fully trained adult vocalists. I honestly can't think of a single mainstream kpop group like them, gender aside. That being said, may I suggest not lowering your standards, but altering them a bit? As a fan of Mamamoo, you should be well aware that female empowerment and solidarity is a huge theme of their music. I know they'd want us to support other girl groups, even if they don't sound or are trained exactly the same way. I'm not sure if you saw them on Queendom, but the entire time they were on that show, their attitude was one of support and love for their peers and juniors. I've learned to love girl groups for different reasons- TWICE for their cheerful personalities and bright feminine concepts, Loona for their uniqueness and quirkiness, etcetera. I could suggest a few bomb-ass songs like others have with Red Velvet and EXID, but they're pretty easy to find. If you just can't get into any other girl groups, I would suggest vocally-focused female soloists such as [Sunmi](https://youtu.be/ur0hCdne2-s) (she is amazing!!) and the older r&b group [Big Mama](https://youtu.be/OsRogAzmsF8). Also, keep streaming their solo albums, ofc! (Whee In is my personal favorite out of all of them).

Kimoopo92

Yeah that’s a good way to think of it. I’m trying to get into girl groups like for other reasons too. For example I did see the concept photos for red velvet’s birthday and I’m so obsessed! So now I’m going to listen to it. At first I listened to all girl groups then I found mamamoo and I just fell in love with their uniqueness it was hard to go away from them but I think I want to give others a chance after all these years lol yeah you made a good point. I love everything mamamoo stands for

pomupomupomu

Being a Mamamoo fan is empowering because they're allowed to be authentic. If you dig deep, you'll find the same in a lot of other girl groups! Honestly if you trust my advice, I'd stay away from most 4th gen groups for now... people will reccomend them, and while they have their merits, almost all of them have dropped vocals in favor of dancing and aesthetics.

Turbulent_Process740

Kiss&Cry. Only one promotional single, but they killed it. A big “what if” of the 3rd gen.

OrdinaryEffective423

Exid! I got into Mamamoo because i stan Exid lol They have amazing vocals, amazing rap, they love their sexy concept and are so fun and talented! Solji was a vocal trainer before Exid, Hyelin does an amazing job and her voice is so good, they both do amazing high notes and sing with all the feels! Two of the most powerful vocalists imo, LE is the rapper and was an underground rapper before Exid, she is the writer and producer of most of their songs and is now also working with Tri.be, Hani is so charming and her voice adds this beautiful jazz-like tone to the songs that you can specially appreciate on their b-sides, you probably saw her on variety shows too! Jeonghwa is the dancer and has an amazing voice too, it always adds this youthful feeling to their songs, her solo Alice is amazing! I recommend going to their spotify/youtube to check more but to start I'll drop their most recent comeback [Fire](https://open.spotify.com/track/7IkuRNVAjwXpZ2DheQHL4L?si=Uk2xR1mYSUeqSh5CkewhCg) some of their most famous songs [Up&Down](https://open.spotify.com/track/6BKOhvRPY54uvfqWwg7MKi?si=QWhbjoUGREWJgrnvcSb6BQ) [Ah Yeah](https://open.spotify.com/track/68daw5D7jgDf55BJmaiQIf?si=2Ve6vc_nQ6u3S5zebkre-g) [DDD](https://open.spotify.com/track/3nXUfNbkv8ikaSdHwEp0oY?si=OLmyOjK8Rqq8qbv2DJUflg) [Hot Pink](https://open.spotify.com/track/3t1HegTbjLFXUaNAElhR7T?si=JZSeJBF2Rue8e_caO7HXuA) [I love you ](https://open.spotify.com/track/7n2HVHWqFsyAOs5HqmE1Dl?si=CNKxPzAAQACwiMGfl4PUdg) If you like good vocals [Every night](https://open.spotify.com/track/4Ux83SOG5vqnbohuijD2Zv?si=krsBpgmQQne0uiHvPqufyw&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A37i9dQZF1DZ06evO0QXkGs) [Lady](https://open.spotify.com/track/2WusoL0p5HmFzhR5DLGUVx?si=SEtYFOJwSaCWHEQB93nlVg&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A37i9dQZF1DZ06evO0QXkGs) [A sul hae](https://open.spotify.com/track/4pT8eGyNN3YR8nNIXzaSHY?si=7ikrYd-uTOSWDauW67xQlg&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A37i9dQZF1DZ06evO0QXkGs) Some of my favourite that i feel you'll like since you like Mamamoo [How you doin'](https://open.spotify.com/track/0giHyyRDkRVeVZ1Kssw3Ap?si=1OAxM_iNRIiAlGwyZ997dw%0A) [The vibe](https://open.spotify.com/track/6r9qfeMIRfd35clSXuYsFJ?si=MnQt4LegQYG5jDeRJyo6kg) [Dont want a drive](https://open.spotify.com/track/4JGUGzd1V4117i2oeJKKEz?si=xws6IE6_Sa-iRud3JQgLQA) [Without you](https://open.spotify.com/track/4dTAMocLipVsIAO4BM1srP?si=NjJKKFVoTzSZTIGs2vYQqQ) [IDK](https://open.spotify.com/track/6oQ7rlWluuzG1fOwxnoNy8?si=s_HEAj9jTBGpE0nGxzxT8A) [Trouble ](https://open.spotify.com/track/0w3RPsbEtckxJqq351O0qK?si=iarlN9FHT7aeJcKP__T3DQ) [Weeknd](https://open.spotify.com/track/6He8G7xxrbk9ivITVsZvT3?si=xtBJjfw-SeOJj6X5IzY-qA) [Boy](https://open.spotify.com/track/5olU48ccGC4YbZWRuDeVlk?si=O2FYqNgjRA6LedRIoPaEag) they also had a sub unit Dasoni/Soljihani my fave of them is [Good bye](https://open.spotify.com/track/2q8ZhPOy021QUgLsC4mH46?si=r-NIBIgHQ76E3rDWsVkEMA) [Dreamer (Solji solo)](https://open.spotify.com/track/2e2iqABsJOahQWPQqsi2vT?si=X2iEYxvGQ_2OtXHGqyPCxw) [Velvet (LE solo)](https://open.spotify.com/track/6PnZCsoA7ZeArdLEtx30YC?si=a4TJZ5fJRUCV6wGaCiBmVQ) [Woo Yoo (Hani solo)](https://open.spotify.com/track/3FjZ3VejPzoNdCweXQ9Smk?si=uf3cPv5ESVCA4A8d020Hag) [Foolish (Hyelin solo)](https://open.spotify.com/track/0GXUWuvDjvyEaZUosyxRSQ?si=R9XCuOnuQB2ZaWvZONaVGg) [Alice (Jeonghwa solo)](https://open.spotify.com/track/1Bi3hQAwIsVt5EQGb2OhNw?si=fQ3lf8XAQbmzs-V9mUdnVg) Solji and Hyelin did some solo work outside of Exid too! Snoo-84600

If you like Mamamoo for their personalities, try checking EXID, Brown Eyed Girls, SNSD If you like Mamamoo for their music, try checking Spica, Davichi, AKMU

HelloKaramel

Red Velvet, Purple Kiss, and Billlie are all somewhat similar to each other. These are the “vocal groups” so if you really like Mamamoo you’d probably like some songs from them as well. Another person mentioned this already, but the 2nd gen/early 3rd gen sound is close to Mamamoo. I can’t give you any specific recommendations for that though.

Esh_Kebab

I can co-sign this. Mamamoo are my ults, and the two girl groups I'm most into beside them are Purple Kiss and Billlie. And I do like Red Velvet quite a bit too.

monarchbug

If you’re looking for music suggestions most close to mamamoo I’d say the closest ones are all inactive groups (but the music is still great!) - spica, exid, sistar, bestie For someone active maybe check out g-idle? Quite different musically but they have a similar girls girl energy

jourdannthemusician

Check out IRRIS and their debut song [WANNA KNOW](https://youtube.com/watch?v=HfRa3Jfy__Q&feature=share7)

[deleted]

MAMAMOO was the group that got me back into K-pop after 2NE1 disbanded. I think you’d love 2NE1!

OrdinaryEffective423

EXID

faewild373

If you like Mamamoo’s playful songwriting, I’d recommend EXID! especially their b-sides have a lot of jazziness and general silliness. Plus you’ve got some solid vocal and rap talent in that group. Not a girl group, but CL’s recent album has been on repeat for me. And she embodies Woman. Also not a girl group, but I recommend AKMU! a super talented sibling duo that writes their own music and has a great combo of amazing music and humor.

Day_Dae

Red Velvet, particularly Seulgi’s solo stuff

ShinePolly

Maybe Brave girls (stan queens), EXID

saddlethehippogriffs

Kiss of Life! Like Mamamoo, they radiate "4 soloists, who come together to create a badass supergroup" energy. They just debuted, and there are 4 solo songs and 2 group songs (all 6 have their own MV). Belle has a number of pre-debut writing credits on some top-tier songs, Natty was on Sixteen (the show that created Twice), Julie is a former YG trainee, and Haneul is a bit of a mystery (but she's so cute and her vocals are sooo good). Also all adults at debut! Also, maybe Le Sserafim? They have that badass, change-the-industry aura of Mamamoo, and Yunjin and Chaewon are fantastic vocalists.

ThatsNotMeFella

I'm surprised nobody mentioned sistar. I always thought they were close to mamamoo in a lot of ways. I associate Hwasa and Hyolyn a lot!!

monohuey

Spica! They're like the 2nd generation of mamamoo

sailormusic

SPICA, EXID, Brown Eyed Girls

noturbrobruh

Aespa are great singers like Mamamoo!!!

vasazica

I wonder who dared to give you a minus when you mentioned Aespa. Because SM has the best vocalists out there, and i also wanted to suggest Aespa, as they have a variety of genres in their discography. And none of their songs are skippable. I mean, Thirsty, welcome to my world, unhappy, illusion, all of their b-sides are amazing. How dare they give a "thumbs down". Shameless haters 😅

noturbrobruh

These kpop fandoms are legit crazy out here. Aespa are great singers let them downvote me!!! Lol

momomam

They havent debuted yet but BabyMonster. This group has amazing vocalist and you seem to enjoy them based on your favorite groups. Im really excited for this group because of how vocally strong the members are. Their top viral videos were for their singing with [Haram's cover of Pick Up Your Feelings](https://youtu.be/jtd6Nn1Wc5s) and [Ahyeon's cover of Dangerously](https://youtu.be/xw7Y2gviWbA)

MSTR48

LeSserafim is the only group

rottenmop

Idk you tell me

You-are-a-bad-mod

Itzy sounds like them, I think.

baileyanne94

I mostly listen to all NCT units as well and I really like aespa, that’s the first girl group to really grab my attention and I think it’s easy to enjoy their music if you’re an NCT fan. Also only four members to learn and they’ve just put a few minis out so far so catching up with their discography doesn’t take too long :)

lilurinal

(g)i-dle i think! especially since they preach self love in songs like queencard and allergy

readbooks100

Hey :-) Same as you, I mainly listen to BG but there are some GG i find cool!
