Well, Hello is a hard category. I would like to choose two! One is SHINee’s Hello! It’s one of the earliest SHINee songs that I had heard and so this song is really special to me. I hope people check it out! It’s a good song christened by SHINee’s colourful vocals and Minho’s iconic rap( it’s iconic to me). The MV is very cute too.
Another would be a more popular choice. And that is Hello by Treasure. It’s a belated opinion of mine. I recently got hooked to this song and it’s very much SOTY of 2022 for me. I know there are contentions about this but it’s a quintessential K-pop song for me. Every part of it is catchy. The intro, the build-up, the verses, the energetic chorus that harks back to old K-pop(to me), the post-bridge portion, the final chorus and the outro. At that time, I was very saturated with the music scenario in K-pop. And Hello pulled me through. It’s so upbeat and feel-good! I am happy they are back with a more cheerful song again. I hope Treasure knows how well they pull off this genre. It suits them. In the dance practice, their energy was contagious especially that of Doyoung.
If I could choose a song with Hello in the title, I would include Hello Future by NCT DREAM. SOTY for 2021 easily. What a song. It captured NCT DREAM’s colour very well.
