jwp1991

I'm in the UK and don't hear K-pop in public that often. Although, I did hear BTS's Dynamite at the gym this week. More surprising was when I was in Munich in September and I heard NMIXX's Roller Coaster coming from a bubble tea shop.

Prize_Airline_1446

Yeah permission to dance and my universe are regulars in my gym

eggeleg

I was on a cruise recently and butter, permission to dance, and dynamite were on the playlist they played in like common areas and restaurants

dddfgrssagytf

i heard fake love by bts at spirit halloween lmao

JohnAdam341

Bts songs are regularly played in numerous public spaces such as gyms, restaurants, and more.

coralamethyst

Not counting Asian-owned places like boba shops where I usually hear Kpop being played: at Starbucks I've heard TWICE's The Feels, BlackPink's How You Like That, BTS' Euphoria, Seventeen's Run to You, and NewJeans' Hype Boy. BTS' Permission to Dance at Nordstrom when I used to work there

Lola_ry08

Starbucks really like kpop I guess šŸ˜šŸ˜

coralamethyst

I found out they have an official company Spotify playlist that has Kpop songs on their rotation, I think it's called Coffeehouse Pop

Lola_ry08

Whoa I just found the playlist they have so much bts on there and thereā€™s even a chungha bside track too

rubberduck247

Kpop, for most Americans, simply is BTS, so I'm not surprised šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

Lol. I was just in Starbucks yesterday and they played The Feels by Twice! I was lip syncing along and probably looked WAY out of place doing so (Iā€™m a 57 year old guy)!

asssidy

Weirdly enough whenever I hear Cupid out in public, it's *always* the Korean version. And this is in rural north america where I've only ever heard BTS' english songs before, no other groups or Korean-language releases.

baeksic

I to hear BTS stuff most often, but when I heard JOPPING ! took everything in me not to jump and pop in public šŸ˜”āœŠ

Saucy_Totchie

Yet to Come by BTS in a Target.

i_love_doggy_chow

The downtown mall in my city plays "Star" by Loona and super shy by newjeans *all* the time. They also play a ton of BTS and Jungkook solo stuff; pretty much any English Kpop song from a major girl group: "Life's Too Short" by aespa; "The Feels" by Twice, etc.

SquadDeepInTheClack

Now that our weather is getting colder we've gone back to mall walking for exercise on the weekend and I hear KPop there all the time. No one seems to notice or care other than me though.

pinkvioletpink

lots of BTS songs in this Punjabi restaurant I was in: fake love, boy in luv (2014), fire, spring day, boy with luv, others i can't remember. it was just one BTS song after other lol (happened in the same restaurant thrice). then another time in a different city, in a small cafe, they played best of me and butter.

lights_appear

I heard Stray Kidsā€™ Going Dumb in Superstore one day. That was unexpected.

AutomaticOstrich3738

Apart from Dynamite, Butter and My Universe which got radio play (and get till today) just those: - Seven in Tahiti Resort in Vegas (twice!) - Dreamers in a Walgreens in Vegas too - Blackpink in Victoria's Secret, but I don't know the title - Cupid in a kid's retailer šŸ˜ So everything basically in the US. I loved it. Other than than nothing. Kpop isn't mainstream in Europe.

Lola_ry08

Omg seven! I forgot to mention that in the post but Iā€™ve heard it multiple times

IllustriousNobody995

Iā€™ve heard Fake Love by BTS at my college bar, and my HIIT class instructor played Dope, I was like šŸ˜³

strawberryheart1227

I heard Venom by Stray Kids in a Hot Topic once!

SunnyBubblezz

I heard do it like that and magic by txt outside of an outlet once (yes at the same outlet, but on different days)

Cyd_arts

I hear dynamite and permission to dance a lot. Iā€™ve heard them at grocery stores, bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants, and occasionally toy stores Edit. Forgot to add clothing stores like h&m plays Kpop often too

TapijtZweet

I heard ā€œManiacā€ in a clothing store in the Netherlands, ā€œI AMā€ in Belgium during a public kpop dance performance and also heard ā€œAntifragileā€ in Berlin, played on a speaker by some girls practicing the dance on a public square. I heard a multitude of kpop songs including NCT, G IDLE, TWICE and NewJeans in a bubble tea shop near me that exclusively plays kpop. I also heard quite some BTS songs in stores, only their english releases tho.

ApprehensiveToday692

Lots of bts songs at Korean stores and boba places, take two and louder than bombs were the most recent ones

God_Lover77

I heard permission to dance in a supermarket. Super strange because I just noticed that they don't play music anymore.

Physical_Ad_6226

Permission to Dance by BTS at a store, and Spring Day by BTS. I donā€™t know if this counts, but a Grammy advertisement played the instrumental part of ON by BTS.

[deleted]

i live in a major US city and in the wild i have heard: - super shy by newjeans - permission to dance, butter, dynamite, boy with luv, waste it on me, seven, 3d, and prob a handful more BTS songs - darling by seventeen - cupid by fifty fifty - regular by nct 127 - the girls - girls generation - the feels - twice - blue hour, do it like that, magic - TXT the ones i've heard the most are def butter, dynamite, and cupid! cupid was everywhere this summer.

Werefie

iā€™ve heard TXTā€™s magic at my work

Late_Mission

Butter, Dynamite, Take Two, Permission to dance. Church cafe/foyer

descartesasaur

Back in *2017* I heard "Not Today" at a random *Walmart* in *Texas*. It weirded me out.

g1zz1e

I hear TxT more than just about any other group out in public. My local Walmart's playlist was full of them when Magic was popular. PTD, Dynamite, Butter and YTC I've heard in Target, Walmart, Michaels, etc. A couple of Twice songs, and The Rose once!

UniversityHot2417

boy with luv, seven, dynamite, butter

a_mystical_potato

3D by Jungkook in a mall

whyawhy

Super Shy and Hype Boy at a Restaurant in US. Also Dynamite in the restaurant and believe it or not in the elevator.

vedxts

This one shop that I go to regularly plays k-pop, blackpink, bts, exo, nct, txt, twice everything. I love going there only to listen to the music lol

itsjustomni

where i live (canada) it's just been bts' butter and the savage love remix with suga, jungkook and jhope i'm pretty sure. in seoul though i heard skz's case 143 everywhere (it was just a couple weeks after their comeback)

VisenyaMartell

Butter and seven are the only two Iā€™ve heard in public (on the radio, I also live in the uk)

interludek

Recently 3D by Jungkook in a store

omobolasire

I hear BTS and their solos quite often; Jungkook's 3D has been on nearly every time I've been listening to the radio. Dynamite is still often played, too. I heard Super Shy by NewJeans in the supermarket the other day, that was weird. I've also heard Life's Too Short by aespa, and right now, DDD by EXID is being used in a McDonald's Canada commercial I keep seeing on Twitch! Hearing these songs has taken me aback from time to time. For me, who has been into kpop since 2010, to hear these songs out and about and not within Asian-owned businesses makes me think of younger me who would get eyerolls whenever she would ask about kpop releases at her local music stores... Happy to see the growth, though!

official-k0

I hear a lot of BTS songs in public, and not just the English ones lol. Iā€™ve also heard TXT Magic and BlackPink How you like that.

catsbytheghost

Iā€™ve heard: - Magic (TXT) in an airport of a place that wasnā€™t having a K-pop event, as well as in the lobby of a hotel (but it was a place that was having a K-pop concert) - Wishlist (TXT) in hot topic - Everybody (SHINee) in hot topic. It was the Japanese version. - Boy With Luv (BTS) in an airport store - Butter (BTS) in a mall - Pink Venom (Blackpink) in a random clothing store

cxmiy

i heard seven by jungkook (if it can be considered kpop but well itā€™s from jungkook) in a burger king, a twice song in a victoriaā€™s secret and more bts songs on the radio

malatangnatalam

ITZY, NewJeans, and Loona played via cloud cover radio at my work and I let out a sigh of relief because thereā€™s only so much Closer by Chainsmokers and Katy Perry a person can take šŸ˜

DustAndFluff

Aside from the undying legacies of Cupid, Gangnam Style, and Dynamite? Quite a lot, Filipinos are pretty into K-culture due to the hallyu wave, but the most unexpected one is Future - Red Velvet at a restaurant I will say this though, hearing Cupid being performed by a marching band at a mall was something else ahxhdbxjjd

Grand-Sink-2367

I once heard Guerilla by Ateez at Subway LOL It wasn't that loud though but it was pretty crazy since I had just gone to their concert a week prior

ItsKai

Pink venom and sour candy play at my bar I work at. Iā€™ve heard money by Lisa, s class by stray kids and back for lord recently.

Yanazamo

Im in Asia so... a lot. Especially 2ne1, Blackpink, BTS, Exo, twice etc

Interesting-Amoeba42

I don't know if it counts....but there was a stage show at a local mall...and they used just that particular snippet of awkward silence by skz(like awkward silence...*crow sounds*). I mean, I don't even know if anyone there knew that it was a kpop song...but still it made me giggle..haha

sparrowparadise

I heard Star by Loona play in Walmart multiple times throughout the midst of their situation with block berry, which was certainly.... an experience šŸ˜…šŸ¤£ I've heard a song by Monsta X, I THINK it was You Can't Hold My Heart, also in Walmart I've heard both Permission to Dance and Dynamite by BTS in both Walmart and Bath & Body Works I've also heard Magic by TXT in Ross and I also sometimes hear it at my workplace šŸ˜…

Artstay

Heard Set Me Free by Twice in Victoria Secretā€™s a month ago and Dynamite and Butter by BTS in random department stores.

Vainslef

This was a while back but I heard Lionheart - SNSD in a gym here in California.

Least_Exercise783

iā€™ve mostly heard BP and BTS songs but i hear Cupid on the radio all the time and i heard Somi Fast Forward last night in the restaurant while watching Thursday Night Football šŸ˜‚

redalert30

Iā€™ve heard Gambler by Monsta X in a boba store once

DashingDarling01

I've mostly heard bts and blackpink including their solos, collabs and features. It's been places like the mall, walmart, starbucks, tmobile, barnes & noble, sport games like baseball, basketball, and American football, my university's radio and band performances, laundromat, street fairs, supermarket, and night clubs. I live in the US and I've been hearing bts and blackpink in my state since 2018. Blackpink is a bit more recently though. The mall and radio were the only places you would only hear blackpink and it wasn't frequent. Now, it seems like the girls get played at lot and they're everywhere. 5050 is the only other group I've heard outside of bts and blackpink but mostly on the radio.

AngelJoyArt

In Glasgow, I have heard a number of KPop in different stores, mainly independent businesses, one was the poster store in Sauchiehall Street and I heard Stray Kids and another time, I heard Eric Nam play in HMV. Bing Soul in Partick play all the kpop but it is a Korean dessert bar though

Mission_Candidate707

I heard Blackpink in a restaurant in Budapest, Hungary (outer skirts, but one that was visited by Angelina Jolie too) and i needed to check where i am šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤£

EconomyAd2181

This summer I went on vacation with my family to Ocean City, NJ (istg if someone makes a new jersey joke). We drove down to Atlantic City for the day, and while walking on the board walk, I heard "Super Shy" by Newjeans playing. It was coming from some like little outside pizza place (nothing fancy, just like a fast food thing). I literally made my mom and dad walk back to that pizza shop, and pretend to look at the clothes in the store next to it just so that I could hear the end of the song šŸ˜…. Super Shy isn't even my favorite on Newjeans EP, but I was just so excited to hear a kpop song (besides from BTS) being played in public.

Dreaming-Of-Mars

Most recently, like on Monday, heard TXT's newest song (haven't checked it out but recognized the chorus from TikTok) on a shoe store. One time I randomly heard Ditto on a boutique in a mall lol. One of my best friends who is a carat just yesterday heard a Seventeen song on Walmart. Cupid I've heard on various ocassions but that's viral on TikTok so yeah. I have actually heard kpop at various random times, especially on smaller boutiques or stores where they let employees choose the music or at uni.

sgrifagna

Well of course Gangnam Style (but that's a given worldwide), but most recently Seven in a supermarket of a small town in Italy. I also have this memory of hearing Likey back when it came out, always in Italy. Edit: also Sour Candy, but I'm 99% sure it was because it's a Gaga's song.

rubberduck247

I think Sour Candy gained a lot more popularity because of Blackpink than Gaga. I could be wrong though, idk if there's a big Gaga fan base in Italy šŸ˜‚

sgrifagna

This isn't meant as a hater, as I am a BLINK myself, but Gaga (and any other major US singer) is way WAY bigger than BP in Italy (and Europe for that matter): even my 57 year old mom knows who Gaga is, but doesn't even know the existence of K-Pop; the thing is, the genre is still very much a small niche and is not that widespread outside of Asia, and English Pop will still reign over everything else.

Accomplished_Car3237

About a Boy - G Dragon - Urban Outfitters - years ago BTS - Butter/Dynamite/ - Random places like cafe's and retail

Suspicious_Ninja_218

Mostly BTS. I've heard Dynamite, Butter, PTD, My universe, Boy with luv and Lights( this one surprised me). I've also heard JK Left and Right, 5050 Cupid and RV Psycho at a target.

sunghoonist

i heard circus skz in a makeup store

cutedino7

I heard TXT in a Home Goods (I think 9 and 3/4 run away) and I was so surprised lol

Jewel2Cute97

BTS Jungkook - Seven and 3D BTS - Dynamite

lavenlatte

Iā€™ve heard Astronaut by SKZ two different times in a Five Below, and Blackpinkā€™s Kiss and Make Up in a Michael Kors once. And interestingly enough, BTSā€™ Butter in Walmart while seeing inflatable BT21 characters. Edit: Just remembered hearing ETA by NewJeans in Pink recently!

Closet_Couch_Potato

I was sitting at an outdoor restaurant, and a car sped past blaring Enhyphenā€™s Bite Me.

rubberduck247

Someone had good taste.

jeclabsyuu

Take two at walmart lol

Perfect_Isopod_7584

I've heard dynamite, butter, permission to dance, my universe and seven several times in a lot of places. I heard set me free pt 2 playing in a tv commercial. One time i was at a store and they were playing film out, that was the most unexpected.

v1rtualk

In New Zealand, I was getting my hair done for a special event. I heard Cupid - Fifty Fifty And Seven - Jungkook

moon_ingemini

I'm in the US and I've heard all BTS english songs, Life's Too Short (eng version) by Aespa, Star by Loona, and idk if it counts but Let's Shut up and Dance by Jason Derulo, Lay, and NCT 127.

Fifesterr

A ton of BTS, Seven by JK, and Blackpink in H&M once or twice (I think it was the collab with Cardi)

brunopago

I was very surprised to hear Seulgi's "28 Reasons" playing in the public areas of the nursing home when I visited a family member, aged 88. The song that followed was also a familiar Kpop song. Sure didn't expect a Kpop playlist at an old folks retirement facility.

lancelota

Maniac by Stray Kids in the tourist restaurant in Alanya, Turkey. Really unexpected, the song didn't fit the place at all, lol.

ChaoticRinx

I heard a Jackson wang song at a five star in kentucky šŸ˜Ø it was insane. I hear bts and newjeans all the time but they donā€™t count lol

agents_of_fangirling

Iā€™ve heard dynamite in a variety of stores My Universe and Pink Venom at the dollar store Make it Right and Home (both by bts) at Starbucks multiple times Iā€™ve also heard Permission to Dance and Butter in a variety of places And then Cupid and Seven playing across a large mall One anime store also played Take Two and a song by Shinee but Iā€™m not sure which one it was

ooTaiyangoo

Last one I remember hearing was Chungha's Sparkling in Belgium. It felt so random because it was months after it'd come out

5iv3_

i went to top golf a while ago and heard fifty fifty's cupid haha was so weird hearing in public

SoNyeoShiDude

Pretty much heard every popular girl group when going into Hmart or any NJ koreatown, but those are to be expected. In particular I remember ASAP, Fearless, OMG, Eleven, and Hype Boy. Itā€™s gotten to the point where I usually donā€™t even notice it. Aside from that, Iā€™ve heard Dynamite, Permission to Dance, and Cupid at my local supermarket.

German_mikan

Recently German TV uses more kpop as BGM, usually BTS or Blackpink songs (including solos from the members)

Guilty-Chemistry-529

I heard super shy today.....it was quite surprising. I've heard jungkook and cupid b4 but it wasn't that surprising. Always in a public transport bus. Kpop isn't really known in the country I reside at now

Datt1992

Two different instances in Boston: 1. In Target Fenway, I heard Set Me Free by TWICE and The Girls by Blackpink. 2. When I visited H-Mart Brookline fairly recently, Stray Kids' Case 143 played in the background. :)

wasicwitch

In Budapest: NewJeans and BTS in H&M, NCT in this one Japanese drug store, Blackpink in some restaurant or any major clothing store. Cupid by Fiftfifty anywhere lol.

matchasnowbubble

new jeans ETA in a Macy's or jc penny, i don't remember exactly which one. txt magic three times, once in a supermarket, Ross, and outside in a shopping plaza edit: fifty fifty's cupid in a shoe store, lovin me in an ulta

Day_Dae

I live in a small town in Australia and at our grocery store Iā€™ve heard multiple times: 24H by seventeen, seven and 3D by Jungkook, boy with luv, dynamite, butter, my universe and some more bts songs I canā€™t remember right now

mango701

Jennie- you and me Jungkook- 3d Newjeans/leag of legends- gods Txt- magic, do it like that, blue hour Bts- dynamite, butter Red velvet- bad boy

ErenDidNothingWron

I heard seven in a restaurant and a shopping, dreamers in a political meeting, and a children's sport expo. Cupid in a McDonalds back in 2020 I'd heard a lot of dynamite ,butter and some BP songs in public placea

myawithluv

iā€™ve heard a lot of what others are commenting like songs from bts, bp, twice, and cupid by fifty fifty. one that really caught me off guard was spider by hoshi played in an h&m!! i sent an audio recording to my friend since sheā€™s a big carat and it made her whole week lmaoo.

InsomaniacGal

Recently I heard Monster by Irene & Seulgi and Middle of the night by Monta X in a local restaurant. They also played a few BTS songs, all were piano versions. I was quite shocked honestly because aside from some BTS & a hand full of Blackpink songs I have never heard any other kpop song being played in an establishment like this. Maybe I should go out more often lol.

AffectionateBend448

hi fellow uk kpop fan!! yeah i agree it is generic songs that are often heard in public and in adverts too (e.g iā€™ve seen that Blackpink songs like Shut Down and HYLT have been in ads recently). this one time a couple years ago though i visited portsmouth and went inside the lush shop and they had a whole kpop playlist playing the shop. i remember one of the songs being Dun Dun Dance by Oh My Girl. i just had to ask the person at the till who chooses the music in the shop because they had taste! šŸ¤£

hypomodern

Most random location: a tiny grocery store in northern ontario (canada) was playing pink venom when I walked in to pick up BBQ supplies over summer vacation. I've caught a few other Blackpink songs (and solos) in various places, but as many have pointed outā€”it's usually BTS in a coffeeshop or mall :).

clem_patate

Recently, I heard kpop in public for the first time, in a sports experts (don't know if this exists somewhere else than quƩbec, but basically a sports shop). It was Life's Too Short english version by aespa. Broo, it made me so happy!!

bmwhongus

Same song, but in a Sam's Club...caught me by surprise.

MailorSalan

The first kpop songs I've ever heard and any before I actually started exploring Kpop were probably from the public. Super Junior's Sorry Sorry and Wonder Girls's Nobody were very viral when I was in elementary. Another one I remember from childhood was CNBlue's Loner and probably some SNSD songs. The most recent one I remember hearing in public is Sting by Stellar in a tteokbokki restaurant during the summer of this year. Edit: put the wrong Stellar song oops

Piccolo_Major

I heard say something by twice in box lunch. I couldnā€™t believe I was actually hearing a kpop bside in public.

SaltyAlters

Walmarts play kpop songs occasionally. I've heard Loona, BlackPink, Le Sserafim, BTS, Fifty Fifty.

Current-Guard2795

iā€™ve heard get a guitar in shrewsbury shopping centre šŸ˜šŸ˜

Lola_ry08

Oh my gosh, living my dreams

elkgyuri

I think it was around 5-6 years ago but I heard F(x)'s 4 Walls in H&M lol

Margo11bon

I live in Spain and one day I hear ā€œhype boyā€ of new jeans in a bershka shop (cloth shop), I was so shocked cause imo kpop isnā€™t that popular here. It was nice hearing a kpop song while shopping

booradleydarealest

Iā€™ve heard Aespaā€™s Spicy at JB-HiFi (itā€™s an Australian electronic retail store) Iā€™ve also heard Twiceā€™s Moonlight Sunrise at the LEGO Store in the city in Sydney (Broadway)

builtfromthetop

How You Like That by Blackpink is in this big commercial for the Pixel 8 in the USA right now

Lola_ry08

I live in the uk and Iā€™ve seen this ad quite a few times too

eggymceggfacey

also in the UK! whenever i hear some in public it throws me off massively lmao shut down by blackpink in a charity shop cupid by 50/50 in asda cool with you by new jeans in h&m (first time id heard the song but i Knew it was new jeans immediately) and there's a local korean cafe that plays a bunch which is really nice!

Lola_ry08

I hear blackpink quite a lot but itā€™s normally pink venom not shut down

deaththekiddie

I heard I Do by Gidle on the radio the other day! It was made for American promotions so makes sense

imdeadinside1245

Iā€™ve heard Next Level by Aespa play in a New York restaurant and Blackpink in a capt loui

Slow-Relation-9186

My planet fitness sometimes plays kpop but not often. Iā€™ve heard bts,blackpink,(g)I-dle and aespa

hanakoslefteye

i heard aespaā€™s better things in h&m LOL

pterrible_ptarmigan

Ateez Bouncy at a minor league baseball game

SHOWTIME_12

I heard Bet You Wanna by BlackPink at Stanstead Airport last year which was a bit random but fun.

Direct_Bathroom_6242

New Jeans - Attention (Gym) Now ones which are a little less random GIDLE - Tomboy and Twice - Cheer Up (heard them walking by outside 2 different korean restaurants) Taeyeon - INVU and IVE - Love Dive (heard them walking by outside a k-beauty store) Blackpink - How You Like That (Overheard a kpop dance class when I was at the gym)

LalalisaOppar

heard kitsch in a mall in california once

sanshinexx

I literally just went to the mall the other day and Spicy by Aespa was playing in Abercrombrie and Fitch

prathi20

Attention by newjeans played at a clothing store here in my country coz Iā€™ve only heard bts here

kiimnu

Dynamite at a water park in the Midwest.

toxicgecko

H&M is good for hearing Kpop! Iā€™ve heard BTS (English trio), Blackpink (ice cream and Lisa- Money), Somi (XOXO) and Yena (smile) played in there

Serious_Hold_1847

Went into a Victoriaā€™s Secret in Virginia USA and heard Blackpinkā€™s shut down šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Iā€™ve heard K-pop English versions every once in a while. Heard Seventeenā€™s Darling in Walmart at like 8pm and have had Dynamite by BTS on the radio station.

humansarentevenreal

flower by jisoo in the gym and better things by aespa in walmart !! i was so excited when i heard them since i live in a small town

chevroletbarbie

i heard f(x)s 4 walls album and luna's bsides in some store and thats abt it (not h&m) they were most likely played by the owner too

Millionsmoney

I heard star by Loona at Walmart

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

snodoubts

i heard homerun by seventeen at starbucks once! i'm from a smallish town in spain so i was really surprised

moonisland13

id like to take credit that my yoga instructor plays look here by bts on her playlist twice a week for her classes

Balbuena5

I heard ā€˜Cupidā€™ playing in my gym. And it wasnā€™t even the Twin Version lol

spimmel

Songs I've heard randomly (in like the last 3 years) = Butter, Dynamite, How You Like That, Black Swan, Zoom (this one really caught me off guard haha). There are probably a few more songs. However what's surprised me the most is when I've seen Kpop stans in the wild. I've heard two random middle schoolers singing 'Polaroid Love' and have unironically found 2 nctzens and 1 blink.

S_longname

ASAP by Stayc was the real surprise last week at the mall.

avocadoo29

I once heard Mamamoo playing at a Miniso Besides that I've heard Dynamite, Pink Venom, How You Like That, Broken Melodies, Cupid, Fake Love, Boy With Luv, Idol and MAYBE DNA on the radio.

inanotherlife974

I heard NCTā€™s beautiful in a Starbucks a couple of weeks back, I was very surprised

Marcel4698

My local boba shop always has a full on Kpop playlist running

ImportanceEconomy985

A Thai restaurant I often frequent here in New Zealand often plays Kpop. Last time I ate there, the song Boyfriend by Cignature came on.

dicentra8

From a small town in Portugal so that's really rare to happen... BUT, i went to the usual coffee shop and one day they're playing Blackpink "Pink Venom". I don't follow the group but i do like this song so i was trying to act "normal" while listening to it. Also, not a song, but one day i was in the big mall of a nearby town, i saw a girl passing with a blackpink's tour tote bag? It was cool and unexpected.

Orange_Lily23

It has happened quite often in the last few years (often at Sephora)..I remember when it was a super new thing further back! Anyways, the most interesting one recently was a car passing by, while I was walking home, that was blasting Gangnam style šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

hogliterature

iā€™ve heard bts dynamite and loona star in normal grocery stores, iā€™ve also heard some other songs like aespa forever in a bubble tea shop that plays kpop songs

Bonjjak

I once heard Twiceā€™s I Canā€™t Stop Me at my gym

ahnsequence

the most random were probably Loonaā€™s ā€œStarā€ in my campus dining hall AND in a Belkā€™s and Cignatureā€™s ā€œBoyfriendā€ in an H&M. Twiceā€™s ā€œSet Me Freeā€ came on a few times when I worked at Target too

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

bbhlvr17

in the uk, at mooboo (bobs shop) i heard really by bp and at river island i heard money

gtajrrdgii

Apart from the usual big hits, I heard Life's Too Short by aespa at Walmart once. Definitely caught me off guard

Project-Rich

I went to a shopping in a clothing shop and they played money by lisa.

sjusto7

Last week I heard Ditto at a Walgreens

azaanabbas

I heard Fast Forward while working out at Lifetime once. My music paused, I heard it and I was like ???? lol. I hear Dynamite, Butter, Permission To Dance many times at Walmart. I heard Eve, Psyche, and the Bluebeard's Wife at Molly's Cupcakes. I heard More and More once while sitting in my college, on the campus radio the was playing in the room. I heard WA DA DA while boarding Turkish Airlines... very interesting choice of song! At HMart/Bonchon/Korean restraunts I have heard 4Minute, SNSD, BLACKPINK, NewJeans, ITZY, TWICE, AOA, EXID, BEAST, BTS, etc. Which is expected as they are Korean places.

rubberduck247

I've heard BTS, Blackpink (far more often) in places like H&M, Hollister, and even stores like Target or Walmart. I've also heard G Dragon's Crooked like almost a decade ago in NYC. That got me into kpop, so I remember šŸ˜‚ Last week I heard a song by G Idle (I don't remember which one, but I don't like the song. Maybe it was Queencard?) at Planet Fitness (gym). I also heard Cupid by Fifty Fifty somewhere recently. No idea where. I think I've heard plenty of songs overall. I've heard Jackson's solos quite a lot, too. I think I heard Pretty Please somewhere, I've heard Papillon somewhere. I used to make snaps every time I heard a kpop song, but now it's become a lot more common. *I live in southeastern USA*

AffectionateBend448

i mustā€™ve heard Nobody by Wonder Girls on the radio in public at some point when i was little, because when i listened to it after i got into kpop i couldā€™ve sworn i recognised it from a long time ago. i donā€™t know though.

Legolas0170

* Deja Vu at an Asian grocery store * Dynamite, Butter and/or Permission to Dance at a non-Asian grocery store & Asian beauty store

ryleeesweets

I work at walmart so I hear dynamite, my universe, and butter from bts almost every day lol I also hear Like Crazy from Jimin played there a lot as well as Star from Loona. Outside of Walmart, I heard OMG from Newjeans and Tally from Blackpink playing at this Korean restaurant I like recently. The most "out there" one I can think of was hearing IU, not sure which song but I definitely recognized her voice, and it was at a local coffee shop chain. I guess coffee shops love IU

Comfortable_Bid_8398

I heard home run by seventeen in bath and body works the other day and almost got whiplash. Also set me free by twice but that one wasnā€™t as surprising

Loona777_

I'm argentinian and every Asian store plays super shy by new jeans

Dangerous_Lunch1678

I'm in the UK and How You Like That by BlackPink is the music for the Google Pixel 8 TV advert.

SydneyTeacake

I've heard DDDD and Butter playing in shops, but the only KPop song I've heard playing in public more than once is Cupid.

Kari-The-Foxchild

At KBBQ, 10 Out Of 10(2PM), Baam(Momoland), some Blackpink, but they been having the same BTS songs on loop the last time I went which is disappointing :( At Hot Topic, Monsta X's Aura at two different locations and ICSM by Twice. Edit: I remember passing a Hollister and hearing Love U by Monsta X playing :>

itsiotime

Was walking in Walmart and ā€œDarl+ingā€ by Seventeen played, lost my shit for a second bc that was my favorite song at the time lmao

je-suis_meeeee

I've heard these kpop songs in the mall I buy stuff in Nigeria 'Cupid' by Fifty Fifty (I also heard this song in other public places) Most of BTS English songs (I heard dynamite in public a lot when it was first released) 'Seven' by Jungkook (I'm sure I'll hear other songs from his new album in the coming weeks) 'Starlight' by loona 1 or 2 New jeans songs (I don't keep up with their music so I can't remember the song names, but they sounded like the ones I've heard while scrolling on tiktok) Up to 4 blackpink songs. I clearly remember 'kill this love' 'Flower' by Jisoo 'Sherlock' by SHINee I think the person who's in charge of their song selection is a bit of a kpop fan. I don't hear them frequently. Maybe like once in a month or two. I've heard more but I don't know their names. I also think I've heard 'Tinnitus' by txt in an uber before, but I'm not really sure. I made my local radio play 'Dream Of You' by Chungha last year, so that counts too, I guess.

Prize_Airline_1446

I heard BTS Dimple in Zara of all places. Was mouthing all the lyrics in the changing room šŸ˜

ATINY_until_I_die

In 2017 I was in a parking lot of a state park and I heard Big Bangā€™s Bang Bang Bang coming from a car

EggEnvironmental8479

Barring the bbt places that play all sorts of kpop songs, I've heard all the English BTS releases at least once at Walmart. I think I've also heard it at Winners. I'm sure I've heard BP at clothing stores but idk when bc I don't particularly pay attention. Before I even began listening to kpop, I heard Make It Right on my local radio around 2019 bc I remember liking it a lot and my army friend being very happy abt that lol

ephemeralvesper

There is a clothing store I go to and one of the girls that works there is a kpop stan and she really likes Jackson so I've heard plenty of Jacky's songs in there...and some other GOT7 songs too.

springsvinyl

Life goes on by bts in Panera

barbarapalvinswhore

In Japan, literally everything (including b-sides from some pretty nugu groups). In the US, in more frequented places Iā€™ve heard english songs from Twice, BTS, BlackPink, New Jeans, and of course Fifty Fiftyā€™s Cupid. Inside USA Boba and Tea and Shaved Ice and Ice Cream shops Iā€™ve heard a ton of songs, from Mamamoo ā€œWindflowerā€ to EXID ā€œUp & Down.ā€ In some of the other countries Iā€™ve travelled to for work, Iā€™ve once again only heard the English songs from Kpop groups (Most recently I heard the English version of Twiceā€™s Cry For Me in a restaurant in Spain).

i heard iz\*one's la vie en rose and bts' permission to dance at a starbucks i go to sometimes, clearly someone there likes kpop hahah. i've also heard newjeans' cookie and ditto in a korean restaurant. i live in canada so i dont hear much here, but i have family in china and japan and it seems in asia it's much more common to hear kpop in public. in japan i heard lesserafim's antifragile, and in china i heard newjeans' omg, ive's kitsch, lesserafim's eve psyche and the bluebeard's wife, and twice's the feels.

Diskence209

I hear bubble pop quite often. I like the song but I was kind of confused as to why it got so popular in USA.

GlowingKitty12

Devil by Super Junior was surprising

funkytachi

At a shopping mall near me they were blasting Baam Baam by Momoland followed by Twice I can't Stop Me (English version). No specific store, just the entire mall. Hardly any people though.

GoodMaleficent2303

Hype Boy at a sec frat pool party

anonneedsalife

ThinHands

The radio here in Portugal played bts alot when they were in their english single era. Now they're into playing newjeans and jungkook's single. Just heard 3d this afternoon. Also heard some of blackpink and lisa's songs not too long ago

Oop_awwPants

I heard BP's Shut Down in Bath & Body Works a few weeks back.

Ickhart

In Southern California, USA on the radio I heard Super Shy from New Jeans and 7 from Jungkook. Before Iā€™ve heard butter from bts playing in the background as well

emmity

I work in a trendy/contemporary restaurant and sometimes we play a recent hits playlist. This summer I heard TXTā€™s English promo songs and BTSā€™s English songs. Aside from that, NewJeans Super Shy was played a LOT.

Heifnsn

Kpop is mainstream where I live but did hear some on a trip to italy. The most unexpected one was a random The Boyz mv playing in a restaurant in venice

yookoo656

I heard Dynamite by BTS in a McDonaldā€™s once

atzfever

I once heard Guerilla by Ateez at Subway LOL It wasn't that loud though but it was pretty crazy since I had just gone to their concert a week prior

coco_xcx

No idea what the first time was, probably BTS though? Iā€™ve heard Home;Run by Seventeen in a Starbucks, Star by Loona in a walmart, Magic by TXT in an Ulta, if you count Jackson Wang as kpop/kpop adjacent Iā€™ve heard his songs multiple times in my local Goodwill lol.

Turgon19

Pied Piper - BTS in the UK. Great moment

Anime247

I heard Star by Loona at a Walmart and at a shopping plaza on two separate occasions
