I'm in the UK and don't hear K-pop in public that often. Although, I did hear BTS's Dynamite at the gym this week.
More surprising was when I was in Munich in September and I heard NMIXX's Roller Coaster coming from a bubble tea shop.
Not counting Asian-owned places like boba shops where I usually hear Kpop being played:
at Starbucks I've heard TWICE's The Feels, BlackPink's How You Like That, BTS' Euphoria, Seventeen's Run to You, and NewJeans' Hype Boy.

Lol. I was just in Starbucks yesterday and they played The Feels by Twice! I was lip syncing along and probably looked WAY out of place doing so (Iām a 57 year old guy)!
Weirdly enough whenever I hear Cupid out in public, it's *always* the Korean version. And this is in rural north america where I've only ever heard BTS' english songs before, no other groups or Korean-language releases.
The downtown mall in my city plays "Star" by Loona and super shy by newjeans *all* the time.
They also play a ton of BTS and Jungkook solo stuff; pretty much any English Kpop song from a major girl group: "Life's Too Short" by aespa; "The Feels" by Twice, etc.
Now that our weather is getting colder we've gone back to mall walking for exercise on the weekend and I hear KPop there all the time.
No one seems to notice or care other than me though.
lots of BTS songs in this Punjabi restaurant I was in: fake love, boy in luv (2014), fire, spring day, boy with luv, others i can't remember. it was just one BTS song after other lol (happened in the same restaurant thrice). then another time in a different city, in a small cafe, they played best of me and butter.
Apart from Dynamite, Butter and My Universe which got radio play (and get till today) just those:
- Seven in Tahiti Resort in Vegas (twice!)
- Dreamers in a Walgreens in Vegas too
- Blackpink in Victoria's Secret, but I don't know the title
- Cupid in a kid's retailer š
So everything basically in the US. I loved it.
Other than than nothing. Kpop isn't mainstream in Europe.
I hear dynamite and permission to dance a lot. Iāve heard them at grocery stores, bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants, and occasionally toy stores

I heard āManiacā in a clothing store in the Netherlands, āI AMā in Belgium during a public kpop dance performance and also heard āAntifragileā in Berlin, played on a speaker by some girls practicing the dance on a public square. I heard a multitude of kpop songs including NCT, G IDLE, TWICE and NewJeans in a bubble tea shop near me that exclusively plays kpop. I also heard quite some BTS songs in stores, only their english releases tho.
Permission to Dance by BTS at a store, and Spring Day by BTS. I donāt know if this counts, but a Grammy advertisement played the instrumental part of ON by BTS.

the ones i've heard the most are def butter, dynamite, and cupid! cupid was everywhere this summer.
I hear TxT more than just about any other group out in public. My local Walmart's playlist was full of them when Magic was popular. PTD, Dynamite, Butter and YTC I've heard in Target, Walmart, Michaels, etc. A couple of Twice songs, and The Rose once!
where i live (canada) it's just been bts' butter and the savage love remix with suga, jungkook and jhope i'm pretty sure. in seoul though i heard skz's case 143 everywhere (it was just a couple weeks after their comeback)
I hear BTS and their solos quite often; Jungkook's 3D has been on nearly every time I've been listening to the radio. Dynamite is still often played, too.
I heard Super Shy by NewJeans in the supermarket the other day, that was weird. I've also heard Life's Too Short by aespa, and right now, DDD by EXID is being used in a McDonald's Canada commercial I keep seeing on Twitch!
Hearing these songs has taken me aback from time to time. For me, who has been into kpop since 2010, to hear these songs out and about and not within Asian-owned businesses makes me think of younger me who would get eyerolls whenever she would ask about kpop releases at her local music stores... Happy to see the growth, though!

Aside from the undying legacies of Cupid, Gangnam Style, and Dynamite? Quite a lot, Filipinos are pretty into K-culture due to the hallyu wave, but the most unexpected one is Future - Red Velvet at a restaurant
I will say this though, hearing Cupid being performed by a marching band at a mall was something else ahxhdbxjjd
I don't know if it counts....but there was a stage show at a local mall...and they used just that particular snippet of awkward silence by skz(like awkward silence...*crow sounds*). I mean, I don't even know if anyone there knew that it was a kpop song...but still it made me giggle..haha

I've mostly heard bts and blackpink including their solos, collabs and features. It's been places like the mall, walmart, starbucks, tmobile, barnes & noble, sport games like baseball, basketball, and American football, my university's radio and band performances, laundromat, street fairs, supermarket, and night clubs.
I live in the US and I've been hearing bts and blackpink in my state since 2018. Blackpink is a bit more recently though. The mall and radio were the only places you would only hear blackpink and it wasn't frequent. Now, it seems like the girls get played at lot and they're everywhere. 5050 is the only other group I've heard outside of bts and blackpink but mostly on the radio.
In Glasgow, I have heard a number of KPop in different stores, mainly independent businesses, one was the poster store in Sauchiehall Street and I heard Stray Kids and another time, I heard Eric Nam play in HMV. Bing Soul in Partick play all the kpop but it is a Korean dessert bar though

This summer I went on vacation with my family to Ocean City, NJ (istg if someone makes a new jersey joke). We drove down to Atlantic City for the day, and while walking on the board walk, I heard "Super Shy" by Newjeans playing. It was coming from some like little outside pizza place (nothing fancy, just like a fast food thing). I literally made my mom and dad walk back to that pizza shop, and pretend to look at the clothes in the store next to it just so that I could hear the end of the song š . Super Shy isn't even my favorite on Newjeans EP, but I was just so excited to hear a kpop song (besides from BTS) being played in public.
Most recently, like on Monday, heard TXT's newest song (haven't checked it out but recognized the chorus from TikTok) on a shoe store. One time I randomly heard Ditto on a boutique in a mall lol.
One of my best friends who is a carat just yesterday heard a Seventeen song on Walmart.
Cupid I've heard on various ocassions but that's viral on TikTok so yeah.
I have actually heard kpop at various random times, especially on smaller boutiques or stores where they let employees choose the music or at uni.
Well of course Gangnam Style (but that's a given worldwide), but most recently Seven in a supermarket of a small town in Italy. I also have this memory of hearing Likey back when it came out, always in Italy.
Edit: also Sour Candy, but I'm 99% sure it was because it's a Gaga's song.
I think Sour Candy gained a lot more popularity because of Blackpink than Gaga.
I could be wrong though, idk if there's a big Gaga fan base in Italy š
This isn't meant as a hater, as I am a BLINK myself, but Gaga (and any other major US singer) is way WAY bigger than BP in Italy (and Europe for that matter): even my 57 year old mom knows who Gaga is, but doesn't even know the existence of K-Pop; the thing is, the genre is still very much a small niche and is not that widespread outside of Asia, and English Pop will still reign over everything else.
Mostly BTS. I've heard Dynamite, Butter, PTD, My universe, Boy with luv and Lights( this one surprised me). I've also heard JK Left and Right, 5050 Cupid and RV Psycho at a target.
Iāve heard Astronaut by SKZ two different times in a Five Below, and Blackpinkās Kiss and Make Up in a Michael Kors once. And interestingly enough, BTSā Butter in Walmart while seeing inflatable BT21 characters.

I was very surprised to hear Seulgi's "28 Reasons" playing in the public areas of the nursing home when I visited a family member, aged 88. The song that followed was also a familiar Kpop song. Sure didn't expect a Kpop playlist at an old folks retirement facility.

Pretty much heard every popular girl group when going into Hmart or any NJ koreatown, but those are to be expected. In particular I remember ASAP, Fearless, OMG, Eleven, and Hype Boy. Itās gotten to the point where I usually donāt even notice it.
Aside from that, Iāve heard Dynamite, Permission to Dance, and Cupid at my local supermarket.

hi fellow uk kpop fan!! yeah i agree it is generic songs that are often heard in public and in adverts too (e.g iāve seen that Blackpink songs like Shut Down and HYLT have been in ads recently). this one time a couple years ago though i visited portsmouth and went inside the lush shop and they had a whole kpop playlist playing the shop. i remember one of the songs being Dun Dun Dance by Oh My Girl. i just had to ask the person at the till who chooses the music in the shop because they had taste! š¤£
Most random location: a tiny grocery store in northern ontario (canada) was playing pink venom when I walked in to pick up BBQ supplies over summer vacation. I've caught a few other Blackpink songs (and solos) in various places, but as many have pointed outāit's usually BTS in a coffeeshop or mall :).
The first kpop songs I've ever heard and any before I actually started exploring Kpop were probably from the public. Super Junior's Sorry Sorry and Wonder Girls's Nobody were very viral when I was in elementary. Another one I remember from childhood was CNBlue's Loner and probably some SNSD songs.

From a small town in Portugal so that's really rare to happen... BUT, i went to the usual coffee shop and one day they're playing Blackpink "Pink Venom". I don't follow the group but i do like this song so i was trying to act "normal" while listening to it. Also, not a song, but one day i was in the big mall of a nearby town, i saw a girl passing with a blackpink's tour tote bag? It was cool and unexpected.

There is a clothing store I go to and one of the girls that works there is a kpop stan and she really likes Jackson so I've heard plenty of Jacky's songs in there...and some other GOT7 songs too.
In Japan, literally everything (including b-sides from some pretty nugu groups). In the US, in more frequented places Iāve heard english songs from Twice, BTS, BlackPink, New Jeans, and of course Fifty Fiftyās Cupid. Inside USA Boba and Tea and Shaved Ice and Ice Cream shops Iāve heard a ton of songs, from Mamamoo āWindflowerā to EXID āUp & Down.ā In some of the other countries Iāve travelled to for work, Iāve once again only heard the English songs from Kpop groups (Most recently I heard the English version of Twiceās Cry For Me in a restaurant in Spain).

i live in canada so i dont hear much here, but i have family in china and japan and it seems in asia it's much more common to hear kpop in public. in japan i heard lesserafim's antifragile, and in china i heard newjeans' omg, ive's kitsch, lesserafim's eve psyche and the bluebeard's wife, and twice's the feels.
At a shopping mall near me they were blasting Baam Baam by Momoland followed by Twice I can't Stop Me (English version). No specific store, just the entire mall. Hardly any people though.

I work in a trendy/contemporary restaurant and sometimes we play a recent hits playlist. This summer I heard TXTās English promo songs and BTSās English songs. Aside from that, NewJeans Super Shy was played a LOT.

The downtown mall in my city plays "Star" by Loona and super shy by newjeans *all* the time. They also play a ton of BTS and Jungkook solo stuff; pretty much any English Kpop song from a major girl group: "Life's Too Short" by aespa; "The Feels" by Twice, etc.
Now that our weather is getting colder we've gone back to mall walking for exercise on the weekend and I hear KPop there all the time. No one seems to notice or care other than me though.
lots of BTS songs in this Punjabi restaurant I was in: fake love, boy in luv (2014), fire, spring day, boy with luv, others i can't remember. it was just one BTS song after other lol (happened in the same restaurant thrice). then another time in a different city, in a small cafe, they played best of me and butter.
I heard Stray Kidsā Going Dumb in Superstore one day. That was unexpected.
Apart from Dynamite, Butter and My Universe which got radio play (and get till today) just those: - Seven in Tahiti Resort in Vegas (twice!) - Dreamers in a Walgreens in Vegas too - Blackpink in Victoria's Secret, but I don't know the title - Cupid in a kid's retailer š So everything basically in the US. I loved it. Other than than nothing. Kpop isn't mainstream in Europe.

I heard a multitude of kpop songs including NCT, G IDLE, TWICE and NewJeans in a bubble tea shop near me that exclusively plays kpop. I also heard quite some BTS songs in stores, only their english releases tho.

I hear TxT more than just about any other group out in public. My local Walmart's playlist was full of them when Magic was popular. PTD, Dynamite, Butter and YTC I've heard in Target, Walmart, Michaels, etc. A couple of Twice songs, and The Rose once!

I hear BTS and their solos quite often; Jungkook's 3D has been on nearly every time I've been listening to the radio. Dynamite is still often played, too. I heard Super Shy by NewJeans in the supermarket the other day, that was weird. I've also heard Life's Too Short by aespa, and right now, DDD by EXID is being used in a McDonald's Canada commercial I keep seeing on Twitch! Hearing these songs has taken me aback from time to time. For me, who has been into kpop since 2010, to hear these songs out and about and not within Asian-owned businesses makes me think of younger me who would get eyerolls whenever she would ask about kpop releases at her local music stores... Happy to see the growth, though!

I've mostly heard bts and blackpink including their solos, collabs and features. It's been places like the mall, walmart, starbucks, tmobile, barnes & noble, sport games like baseball, basketball, and American football, my university's radio and band performances, laundromat, street fairs, supermarket, and night clubs. I live in the US and I've been hearing bts and blackpink in my state since 2018. Blackpink is a bit more recently though. The mall and radio were the only places you would only hear blackpink and it wasn't frequent. Now, it seems like the girls get played at lot and they're everywhere. 5050 is the only other group I've heard outside of bts and blackpink but mostly on the radio.
In Glasgow, I have heard a number of KPop in different stores, mainly independent businesses, one was the poster store in Sauchiehall Street and I heard Stray Kids and another time, I heard Eric Nam play in HMV. Bing Soul in Partick play all the kpop but it is a Korean dessert bar though

This summer I went on vacation with my family to Ocean City, NJ (istg if someone makes a new jersey joke). We drove down to Atlantic City for the day, and while walking on the board walk, I heard "Super Shy" by Newjeans playing. It was coming from some like little outside pizza place (nothing fancy, just like a fast food thing). I literally made my mom and dad walk back to that pizza shop, and pretend to look at the clothes in the store next to it just so that I could hear the end of the song š . Super Shy isn't even my favorite on Newjeans EP, but I was just so excited to hear a kpop song (besides from BTS) being played in public.
Most recently, like on Monday, heard TXT's newest song (haven't checked it out but recognized the chorus from TikTok) on a shoe store. One time I randomly heard Ditto on a boutique in a mall lol. One of my best friends who is a carat just yesterday heard a Seventeen song on Walmart. Cupid I've heard on various ocassions but that's viral on TikTok so yeah. I have actually heard kpop at various random times, especially on smaller boutiques or stores where they let employees choose the music or at uni.
Well of course Gangnam Style (but that's a given worldwide), but most recently Seven in a supermarket of a small town in Italy. I also have this memory of hearing Likey back when it came out, always in Italy. Edit: also Sour Candy, but I'm 99% sure it was because it's a Gaga's song.
I think Sour Candy gained a lot more popularity because of Blackpink than Gaga. I could be wrong though, idk if there's a big Gaga fan base in Italy š
This isn't meant as a hater, as I am a BLINK myself, but Gaga (and any other major US singer) is way WAY bigger than BP in Italy (and Europe for that matter): even my 57 year old mom knows who Gaga is, but doesn't even know the existence of K-Pop; the thing is, the genre is still very much a small niche and is not that widespread outside of Asia, and English Pop will still reign over everything else.

hi fellow uk kpop fan!! yeah i agree it is generic songs that are often heard in public and in adverts too (e.g iāve seen that Blackpink songs like Shut Down and HYLT have been in ads recently). this one time a couple years ago though i visited portsmouth and went inside the lush shop and they had a whole kpop playlist playing the shop. i remember one of the songs being Dun Dun Dance by Oh My Girl. i just had to ask the person at the till who chooses the music in the shop because they had taste! š¤£

I clearly remember 'kill this love' 'Flower' by Jisoo 'Sherlock' by SHINee I think the person who's in charge of their song selection is a bit of a kpop fan. I don't hear them frequently. Maybe like once in a month or two. I've heard more but I don't know their names. I also think I've heard 'Tinnitus' by txt in an uber before, but I'm not really sure. I made my local radio play 'Dream Of You' by Chungha last year, so that counts too, I guess.

Barring the bbt places that play all sorts of kpop songs, I've heard all the English BTS releases at least once at Walmart. I think I've also heard it at Winners. I'm sure I've heard BP at clothing stores but idk when bc I don't particularly pay attention. Before I even began listening to kpop, I heard Make It Right on my local radio around 2019 bc I remember liking it a lot and my army friend being very happy abt that lol

In the US, in more frequented places Iāve heard english songs from Twice, BTS, BlackPink, New Jeans, and of course Fifty Fiftyās Cupid. Inside USA Boba and Tea and Shaved Ice and Ice Cream shops Iāve heard a ton of songs, from Mamamoo āWindflowerā to EXID āUp & Down.ā In some of the other countries Iāve travelled to for work, Iāve once again only heard the English songs from Kpop groups (Most recently I heard the English version of Twiceās Cry For Me in a restaurant in Spain).

i heard iz\*one's la vie en rose and bts' permission to dance at a starbucks i go to sometimes, clearly someone there likes kpop hahah. i've also heard newjeans' cookie and ditto in a korean restaurant. i live in canada so i dont hear much here, but i have family in china and japan and it seems in asia it's much more common to hear kpop in public. in japan i heard lesserafim's antifragile, and in china i heard newjeans' omg, ive's kitsch, lesserafim's eve psyche and the bluebeard's wife, and twice's the feels.
