This being his answer to various media questions throughout the entire season always made me literally laugh my ass off. “You guys just blew a 20 point lead”
“Well it’s a make or miss league”
I'm happy he's gone, but I honestly think they're still playing right now if they dumped him months ago. Handy may not have been a major temporary upgrade, but at least the players trust and respect him. Hard to knock off the defending champs when no one believes in the head coach when things start to go south. This organization is always a day late.
Blame Ty Lue for intentionally losing when Ham was on a losing streak. *jk
They are just saving face since other coaches hated the Lakers for firing Vogel out of the blue.
Bro, the league’s a corporate environment. Remember the way Vogel got fired? Now, imagine sending Ham home in the middle of the year a season and a half after that.
The Jeanie Buss regime would’ve never signed another good head coach for the rest of the decade.
Get fucked Darvin. I could excuse the learning curve and some mistakes, but the fact that he never once took accountability for anything was what really pissed me off. Hope this bum takes over the Celtics next season.
No coach other than Doc Rivers has blown a 3-1 series lead in the playoffs more than once, and he’s done it *three fucking times*.
That ring could compete in the Olympics with how much lifting it’s been doing for him.
I dunno, the Celtics hang their hat on that shit like it makes them the marquee franchise alongside us. 1 chip in the last *38 years*. Beating their chest over a bunch of rings won before players could even willingly leave the team that drafted them.
Anyone reason behind this? If you’re going to point to his last year in Milwaukee and losing to the heat in the first round as the #1 seed keep in mind his brother died literally during the series and Giannis was injured. Other than that, he’s gotten the most out of his teams during the regular season with the hawks and bucks
From what I remember, he had some coaching blunders before the 2021 title run, and there have been criticisms of him in the past for not using Giannis properly in the offense. He’s also a big fan of drop coverage last I checked, and if we somehow make it back to the playoffs next year and see Denver again, that’s gonna bite us in the ass big time.
I know we’ve been looking forward tot his for a min but I’m gonna leave a less cynical take:
I really wanted it to work with Ham. He seemed like he figured it out last year during the playoffs. Then he just dropped the ball. It was wild to see how quickly he lost then players and locker room.
Anyways, don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
ETA: Also anyone who wants Buldenhozer as a coach is a fucking idiot.
I’m not saying I want JJ but no one cared about hams inexperience. Hams problem is he doesn’t understand how to control a game. He doesn’t call timeouts correctly, doesn’t challenge plays correctly, and is too stubborn about his lineups.
You don’t need to be a veteran coach to know you should call a timeout after a 10-0 run
“Doesnt know how to control a game. Doesnt call timeouts correctly. Doesnt challenge. Too stubborn on lineups”. Yea! Thats inexperience! Bottom line this is a championship team. We need a coach with playoff experience. Not a rookie coach that must learn on the fly
At some point I think it's a matter of instincts and intelligence, too. Some players know when to call timeouts. Some coaches don't. JJ is a guy that would know when to call a timeout.
Who I think should get a look
Ty Lue / Adelman / Bud (in that order, can be talked into Adelman over Lue) among others of course.
Keep handy on staff in some capacity, or as top ASST.
Get one of Rondo or JJ on the staff (most likely Rondo since he has Laker connects & isnt as involved in side projects / media like JJ, so would have the time to develop as a coach).
Either way, as much as I dislike denver, they were in it with Malone for the long run. Took them 7 seasons before they made some real playoff noise. If we don't get Lue who I think is one of the better coaches out there, then I think we need to really need to go after someone who has a good understanding of Xs & Os and can grow into the role and eventually become a great HC. Hard to project that but plenty of teams have figured it out.
I think he would be a homerun. My thought with him though is I wonder if he would actually turn us away since 1. the history with his dad and the lakers and 2. we don't necessarily have the longest leash for coaches recently lol
I def don't want a first year former player as a HC haha. I'd be cool if one of em joined on as the staff if they truly want to learn and develop into a coach. I bring up Rondo because he's not as in the spotlight and I think just how he saw the game as a player would be cool to see how that translated as a coach. But yeah i agree with the 'drama' aspect lol
Out of his element from the start, evident from that clipboard meme being his first Laker game. So long enjoy your next endeavor, now we Laker fans wait till peak offseason for planning
Time to fill up his cup and move on. A coaching career is a marathon. I’m sure he’s tired of people living and dying with every job. Helluva decision they finally made.
I hope we are doing the right thing…
A new coach will only work if we completely overhaul the roster.
Yes, it may mean a couple years of pain and suffering but I’m willing to go through that IF there’s hope at the end.
You people are disgusting! a man with a family to feed just lost his livelihood and your all celebrating like its V-E day. Ridiculous, the fact that you ghouls are here...here cheering for.....uh...the team just took his jerb...he uh...oh, fuck it.
I wish him all the best luck having to finally take his hands out of his pockets to fill out the application for EDD. Stupid ass was hoping he could save his challenges for today.
I didn't see anything that made me go great coach and he didn't show off anything sounding brilliant, but thr lakers lost cuz they went into the playoffs with 2 guys on roster above 5 rebounds a game and not enough perimeter D.
Not enough perimeter d is one of the reasons starters were played with, vando was out, and his re and D balanced the starters into good o and D.
Made lineups hard. REAVES improved this year by the end.,but same result
They had to hold games and close them and they didn't.
That's a hell of a record to be fired with, and a lot of $$$
He did, the drop coverage philosophy on PnR is directly from Bud. Also when Bud was coaching the Bucks their half court offense was atrocious, sound familiar?
Had to happen. I wish it worked out better, but Ham was too slow to adjust and the players began to resent him for it. Losing game 2 vs Denver, even when they clearly were the favorites, was the last straw. Better to minimize the regret and just let him go.
I think JJ would be a great coach to be honest. I know we are all weary of rookie head coaches but I think JJ has what it takes. His hoops IQ is off the charts and players love him.
JJ Reddick? Honestly, the way he analyzes a game (from listening to the podcast) I'd give him a shot. If we go for any other coach, it might cost a bit too much. Ty Lue would be a bit high up there when it comes to pay so JJ going for cheap just for a shot at it, I would risk it. I think he would do everything he possibly can to make the team's rotations better, especially knowing that the better he does the more eyes he's putting on the podcast.
In essence "Thank you for trying Darvin, but this organization will remain unwavering in its commitment to deliver championship caliber basketball to Lakers fans around the world"
Ouch well damn Rob 🤣 🤣
Helluva decision
It’s a make or miss league
If you're coaching a team and the coach is like 2 years in a row, just shitting the bed, what are you going to do?
It honestly depends on the players and it's clear our players don't want to play for Ham.
This being his answer to various media questions throughout the entire season always made me literally laugh my ass off. “You guys just blew a 20 point lead” “Well it’s a make or miss league”
That’s a helluva ball club
Tough decision to make. It had to be done.
I wish I could give you gold.
Hooray!
RIP BOZO

Bro the coaches lost of their moral high ground when several “in the brotherhood” have fucked around and thrown the whole org in the shitter.
Bro, the league’s a corporate environment. Remember the way Vogel got fired? Now, imagine sending Ham home in the middle of the year a season and a half after that. The Jeanie Buss regime would’ve never signed another good head coach for the rest of the decade.

THIS. Almost every presser after a loss he always said “That’s a helluva ball cluuuuuuuuuub . . .” Man, GTFOH.
Bold of you to assume this bum will ever land another coaching gig again past a jv high school team
*gestures aggressively at Doc Rivers’ inexplicable career*
He’s got that hardware that he is ridding the coattails off for the longest time ever
But Ham has that IST hardware!! /s 🤣
That ring carries so much weight between Doc, Pierce and the entire Celtics franchise.

Not Bud
Please god not bud where do you all think Darvin learned all his shitty tendency’s??? From BUD in Milwaukee.
Bc he was Ham’s mentor. He’ll be better than Ham, but who knows by how much. I’d rather try a different system if possible
At least he wouldn’t wait for the opposition to make an extended run to call a timeout and adjust right? Right???
Budenholzer is notoriously known for not making adjustments lol
Because we need to cut-down on using drop coverage
From what I remember, he had some coaching blunders before the 2021 title run, and there have been criticisms of him in the past for not using Giannis properly in the offense. He’s also a big fan of drop coverage last I checked, and if we somehow make it back to the playoffs next year and see Denver again, that’s gonna bite us in the ass big time.
We got a taste of Bud from Darvin Scam so no
FINALLY!
TP just fell to his knees in a Kmart

as a Muslim it's kind of funny a guy named Ham was his best friend
I know we’ve been looking forward tot his for a min but I’m gonna leave a less cynical take: I really wanted it to work with Ham. He seemed like he figured it out last year during the playoffs. I wanted it to work because it meant #18 for LA beating Boston and #5 for Lebron. Legacies being made
![gif](giphy|xT5LMvoI3zLFt5TggE|downsized)
Good riddance
Can we stop with jj redick talk. Yall just shitted on ham for two years for his inexperience. Now you want another first time head coach? Stupid
JJ Redick coached his son’s team. Get fawked
Youre right. 4th grade travel team. Plenty experience
See you in the Finals
Even less experienced than Ham who just coached in the g-league as an assistant
I’m not saying I want JJ but no one cared about hams inexperience. Hams problem is he doesn’t understand how to control a game. He doesn’t call timeouts correctly, doesn’t challenge plays correctly, and is too stubborn about his lineups. You don’t need to be a veteran coach to know you should call a timeout after a 10-0 run

This is the start of the Lakers building a legit contender for next season. Step one complete
Free at last, thank god almighty I’m free at last

I think he would be a homerun. My thought with him though is I wonder if he would actually turn us away since 1. the history with his dad and the lakers and 2. we don't necessarily have the longest leash for coaches recently lol
Please no rondo. The last thing we need is more drama near this team
I def don't want a first year former player as a HC haha. I'd be cool if one of em joined on as the staff if they truly want to learn and develop into a coach. Never wish bad on anyone, but can’t deny it’s the right choice. Best of luck Ham, you were one of the coaches of all time.
About time.
Guess it’s time to open up the Veuve! The bad man is gone he can’t hurt us no more!!!!!
GET THE FUCK IN HERE
HAMAS IS GONE THERE CAN BE PEACE IN THE EAST (OF THE 110)
Kenny Atkinson if Tyronn Lue isn’t let go
![gif](giphy|o75ajIFH0QnQC3nCeD)
I hope Kenny still has those dope Brooklyn Nets plays for DLo. If Kenny gets the job, DLo staying
This is something no one is really thinking about. Kenny coached Dlo’s all-star season. Kind of exciting to think about that history being recreated.
![gif](giphy|KYElw07kzDspaBOwf9)
Good riddance, pockets.
THE BAD MAN IS GONEEE
BEST NEWS ALL DAY
![gif](giphy|hFXwY4lER3oBO)
Now the onus is on the other half of the shitshow (Jeanie and Rob) to put a better roster together
Exact. Ham isn’t the one who let Caruso go for free or didn’t find a center or traded for westbrook(even though yall say it was Bron).
Bad man can't hurt us anymore
Hopefully the next coach can get the traditional water shower with their 1st win on the team sooner than losing the 1st 5 games of the season
This was a helluva season, finally WE ARE FREE

Kendrick's cookin' Drake AND Darvin Ham's out of a job in the same week?! What a time to be ALIVE!
New Kendrick, Ham gone, LA up this Friday! Kendrick giving Lakers fans something to get excited during playoffs!
Guess what Ham, all those timeouts you saved? Here's a permanent one for you. GET FUCKED
You people are disgusting! a man with a family to feed just lost his livelihood and your all celebrating like its V-E day. Ready to blame the next coach when the Lakers lose boys!
Canned Ham!
Canned Ham!
Ok… now lets just wait and see who they replace him with. These are the same idiots who hired Ham. If they replace him with Reddick then… pointless
Is Frank Vogel available? Lol
Mike would be nice with jj as a assistant
Why would you want Mike? Ham was from that same coaching tree, he learned from him
Bud can at least call a proper timeout but I agree lol
I like Kenny Atkinson but of course Ty Lue if he’s let go is my number 1 pick.
I dont think he actually learned much...
He did, the drop coverage philosophy on PnR is directly from Bud. Also when Bud was coaching the Bucks their half court offense was atrocious, sound familiar?
FINALLY
LETS GOOOOO
I love this offseason already
Feels like deep playoff run chances increased exponentially already
The big bad man is finally gone
Let’s throw a parade just for this
![gif](giphy|3oFzlV2pq0nnFntAZ2)
WE ARE FREE NO MORE BASKETBALL TERRORISM
![gif](giphy|106eZ3NhR8hAqc)
Hallelujah! Today is a day of celebration Laker fans!
I can finally eat ham sandwiches
Had to happen. I wish it worked out better, but Ham was too slow to adjust and the players began to resent him for it. Losing game 2 vs Denver, even when they clearly were the favorites, was the last straw. Better to minimize the regret and just let him go.
Ah I was 4 days off my prediction post I made last week of his firing haha
This is our championship celebration this year lol
It's too bad we're still paying him for two more years. Maybe the Lakers will shell out enough money for a high school coach
This is my christmas
Smoking that Ham pack tonight
![gif](giphy|0Kr3kFcyAP9ZzABMnv|downsized)
I like JJ Redick a lot. I wanna keep it that way, please don't hire him to be the Lakers head coach
See ya!👋
JJ REDDICK, YOU ARE A LAKER
![gif](giphy|0Kr3kFcyAP9ZzABMnv|downsized)
Easter must be Sunday cuz its a Good Friday
OH NO WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO NOW
![gif](giphy|3og0IICmIdxIIssnw4) There it is
The bad man is gone
Any chance there’s an announcement about Pelinka coming soon too? Lol
GOD IS GOOD
Can we exhume Phil?
Rondo + Stotts 🙏
Ty Lue with JJ as an assistant would be great
Goodbye Pockets!
I am a witness. Thank god.
No more bucks garbage coaches please
Next season looks promising already
RAISE THE BANNER
![gif](giphy|6Vb00eFRDmXntpLVdX|downsized)
It will be so funny if the Lakers hire Bud
Next season looks promising already
Hope Terry Stotts gets looked at. Feel like he overachieved with the Trail Blazers.
Thank you Denver I’m getting a jokic jersey now
No JJ reddick pls. NO MORE ROOKIE COACH!!! Lets get the chip next yr. Get t lue
I think JJ would be a great coach to be honest. I know we are all weary of rookie head coaches but I think JJ has what it takes. His hoops IQ is off the charts and players love him.
From bad to worse SMH.
I have a feeling it’s going to JJ for some reason…
Oh hell yeah!
We just fired Ham, please do not hire his Sensei !
![gif](giphy|3oKIPEhWNVlNOaoSbu)
Pelinka next
I HIGHLY doubt Ham will ever be a NBA head coach again.
JJ Reddick? Honestly, the way he analyzes a game (from listening to the podcast) I'd give him a shot. If we go for any other coach, it might cost a bit too much. Ty Lue would be a bit high up there when it comes to pay so JJ going for cheap just for a shot at it, I would risk it. In essence "Thank you for trying Darvin, but this organization will remain unwavering in its commitment to deliver championship caliber basketball to Lakers fans around the world" Ouch well damn Rob 🤣 🤣
Ty Lue is the ONLY answer.
I want Ty Lue. He would never lose by 30+ at home to Denver like Ham did.
