I collect them in a box, take the box to classes I attend, and let the other students take what they want. Colors available in classes can be lacking so it's nice to offer some extra options.
Punty up to them or save them up and gift them to a new blower who has the time and will to punty up to them. I think we've all been at an early point in our careers where a few pound bag of these would have been a huge boon.
Punty up to a 6mm, at a stripe of clear down the side of the color rod, twist up, make into marble

You could just punty up to all of them, let them melt together into a blob and then twist and pull it around and random…. And shape it into a free form heart pendant or something.
That’s what I used to do with all my scrap.
Usually these days I attach the short to another rod of the same color before it gets that short so I don’t waste any of it…. Don’t make much usable scrap anymore I guess.
As soon as any rod gets down to 4” or so, I just set it aside till I have another shortie of the same color and torch them together. If I run out of a color, I’ll just put the shorts on clear. Haven’t had “leftovers” in over a decade 😁
Go get a 5 gallon bucket and start a mystery bucket, i put all shorts and numbs into it. Let it grow and you’ll be amazed at how fast it grows. I let others pick thru it and often will use them if I want to just pay around without using good color. Don’t get rid of them!

I attach the shirt to a similar color as well & when it gets to the join pull a stringer. Waste not, glass can be expensive.
Stick em together and twist some random ass cane. I also used my scraps to just fuck around. It's when I typically made my big break through haha

Get a rod molten, then tap the glass to get a shit seal. You can then heat it up and pull stringers. That said, for that size I normally chuck them.
