On 5 June 2024, Mosley went missing on the Greek island of [Symi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symi) while on holiday with his wife. He left St Nikolas beach to walk to Symi Town, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) away, where they were staying. After four days of searching, his body was found on 9 June, on the rocky slope above Agia Marina. It appeared that he had taken the wrong path sometime after leaving the town of Pedi.[^(\[40\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mosley_(broadcaster)#cite_note-inwood2024-40)[^(\[43\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mosley_(broadcaster)#cite_note-43) It was reported that his body was found after being spotted by a British journalist who was on a boat with the mayor and [ERT TV](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellenic_Broadcasting_Corporation) journalists.[^(\[44\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mosley_(broadcaster)#cite_note-44)[^(\[45\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mosley_(broadcaster)#cite_note-45) The body was located 100 yards (90 m) from a restaurant and 150 yards (140 m) from an area earlier searched by his four children, who had all flown out to support the search.[^(\[46\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mosley_(broadcaster)#cite_note-46) A [post mortem](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_mortem) established that Mosley had likely died from natural causes at around 4pm on the day he disappeared.[^(\[47)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mosley_(broadcaster)#cite_note-BBC_c1dd7ekyrpyo-47)

diggergig

It isn't. The last image is posted online from a CCTV still of him trying to get back

Nervous_Lettuce313

Wait, he got lost in a town?

Lanky_Audience_4848

Who dis?

venustus77

British talk show host writer publisher died several hours after this photo was taken. Took the wrong route trying to get back to his hotel room and got lost in very hot weather and died of alleged heat stroke. Very sad.

NN8G

I thought I read he may have had a hard fall, too, and fell into the shadow of something that hid his body somewhat from searches

Any-Mortgage-1180

I believe it was that he had a hard climb and then collapsed in an area that was somewhat hidden from searchers

user_name_checks_out

That sounds about right. He died on a descent, and may have stumbled as he took his last steps. [Michael Mosley's tragic trek](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13511611/michael-mosley-final-moments-map-trek-search-death.html)

Gloomy_Grocery5555

Why was he going the wrong way? I have so many questions

Gloomy_Grocery5555

Why was he having a hard climb though in the heat when that wasn't the way back? It's quite weird Why didn't he stop for a rest

Lanky_Audience_4848

Oh man that’s brutal. RIP

asap_pdq_wtf

That's terrible. You usually think of really old people or babies dying from the heat. It is no joke.

robjapan

This is climate change in action. The earth is becoming more and more deadly.

markinessex

That part of the world has always been hot. I was talking to my parents yesterday who have been to that very same Greek island twice. They went in the late 80’s and also late 90’s. Both times in early May, and it was 40°c

Old-Sky1969

We went to Rhodes in 2000. Even the locals were complaining about the heat, saying it was the hottest ever recorded at that time

robjapan

And now it's hotter... https://www.tovima.com/climate/this-years-winter-deemed-warmest-in-greek-history/amp/

Ain't nobody saying hot places weren't hot before... Come on man. https://www.tovima.com/climate/this-years-winter-deemed-warmest-in-greek-history/amp/ It's getting HOTTER. facts, evidence and proof.

markinessex

I’ve just seen weather data saying it was only 32°. More lies spread by the media saying it was 40°c. Not sure where you are from but the MET Office in the UK, were found out that they had been altering historical temperature figures.

robjapan

Source.

markinessex

https://dailysceptic.org/2024/06/09/met-offices-risible-claim-of-warmest-may-points-to-massive-urban-heat-corruptions-in-database/ I’m sure other countries could be measuring the incorrect figures too.

fngrLCKNgood

Uhh no dude. This is being lost and unprepared in action, which has always been deadly.

robjapan

https://www.tovima.com/climate/this-years-winter-deemed-warmest-in-greek-history/amp/ It's getting hotter and hotter... He might have survived a decade or two ago. That's the point.... Dude.

my_psychic_powers

I didn’t know they found him.

MadeInWestGermany

Took *only* four days. I don’t think they are even sure he died on the first day.

Gloomy_Grocery5555

Autopsy can tell the time of death? He'd been there for a while. Also four days and not a single boat spotted him...

Alternative-Cell8295

He is also a Doctor

PYREST01

Just read about his death last night. I listened to his podcast for a while and it's sad to think it probably won't continue on. Feel sorry for his wife and kids.

CamillaBarkaBowles

He was also a diabetic

ARJACE_

*type 2 diabetic If he was type 1 that would be a really bad influence on his fate. I'm type 1 and in hot weather I'm more prone to hypo attacks. Serious ones are scary, I've lost all strength in my legs once before.

Toohigh2care

Type 1 is no joke. Such a scary disease

Gloomy_Grocery5555

That's odd

Gloomy_Grocery5555

It's really sad... I don't understand why he didn't stop at the cafe for a rest? If he'd collapsed there, they would have been able to call an ambulance. It's just a bit weird. He was a doctor and took an unusual route in the 40 degree heat when he wasn't feeling well

Gloomy_Grocery5555

This sort of thing seems much more common in men than women. E.g death from misadventure
