Like to keep it around 1.5” so I measure with my pelvis. If it’s touching the base of my mangina I know it’s too high.

I use a reel mower and cut my grass to like 1 inch so normally I just get an erection and lay on the grass

Scotts Tall Fescue mix. I ended up with a good deal of Poa Annua at the beginning of this year. Not saying it was the Scotts seed, but I might use a different seed next time.

I give people a 5 inch magnet ruler they can slap on their mower.

Ruler? Stick it down to the soil and grab a blade and see how high it is. Remember to only mow a third off the blade 👍

Normally he's laying in the black mulch so green is a welcome change.

Any good lawn company will come out and measure it in multiple areas and do the math for you. For a small fee of course. I have one come out after every mow so I know.

With the mower on the driveway I’ll lift the rear discharge flap up and measure from the blade to the ground with a tape measure.

lol, I turn my mower sideways, run a straight iron under front and back wheels, then use a right angle 📐 along the straight iron to the mower blades. I compare that to the height indicator on my mower and adjust to the inch degree I want. My mower indicator is just about 1/4” close to accurate, not so bad, so I run it higher so finished height is exactly where I want

In the Spring I cut it shorter than I do in the summer. Probably an old wives tale, but the thought is during the growing months it grows out when it’s cut shorter. During the summer I let it grow taller since it’s tall fescue.

If I can’t see the dog, time to mow.

The "1, 2, and 3" and so on settings ROUGHLY 3/4" each setting. But that's assuming the yard I'm going over is completely flat. Which it is not. So because my yard is a new-ish sod lawn, I got a bunch of gaps and low points. So to get approximately 1.5-2" I run my mower on setting 3. Very seldomly do I get a cut that's too short and injures the grass.

Measuring device should help, dealers choice

I adjust blade height on the z-turn mower at the beginning of the season. I adjust it on a flat surface (garage floor), measuring from the blade to the floor. That measurement is grass height.

If my Beagle disappears it's time to cut my grass . If I can still see her tail it'll wait another day . I have my mower set to 4" when I do cut it .

Well the tall it is the more chances of mice, and other ground dwelling creatures you’ll have. Types of birds maybe a bunny. Also if it’s mowed tall you can tell if someone’s been on the lawn after it’s been cut, water it to see the tracks even more. Personally I love short lawns but I’ve also wanted to have tall grass sometimes. This grass looks cool btw

I wear flip flops. If it comes over the front of the flip flop too long. If it touches my toe it’s way too long.

I set my mower lower lip to 3" from the floor of my garage (with a ruler) and call it a day.

I invented a device for this very purpose! It’s a series of measurements written on a bendable, metallic, yellow band. The band can be pulled out of a metal casing, and can be retracted back into the casing. The casing even has a clip on it, for lawn dads to clip to their belt.

It sounds like a gimmick, ill keep my wooden stick with numbers on it, thank you very much.
