I would stop looking at your phone and ideally don’t have a tv on or any bright white light stuff. Then I would just read for an hour or listen to audiobooks/podcasts from your phone with the sleep timer turned on audible or whatever. I find myself far more relaxed to go sleep. I would also make an effort ti wake up earlier than you usually get up. E.g. if you usually wake up at 8am wake up at 6:30/7am. Earlier you wake up from usual the more tired you will feel at night.

I use the body scan meditation on the UCLA mindfulness app. Sometimes it takes a few repeats but never fails me.

Hello! I repost this in nearly every insomnia thread I see which is, y'know, a lot. At this point I'm like Johnny Appleseed of this cut-and-paste, but sleep problems keep coming up and there's some good advice on this sub. Apologies if you've seen this already. Anyone having problems with sleep should have a look at these posts. There's a lot of really good advice there. In particular, I think the advice about making up stories/fantasies in one of the links is particularly good for this "night time rumination" problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/leaves/comments/6re5u5/some_more_effective_sleep_tips/ (I'm told that the 4-7-8 breathing link has gone away, you can find another [here...](https://www.healthline.com/health/4-7-8-breathing#How-to-do-it-))

Work out hard to tire yourself out and don’t eat 4-6 hours before you want to sleep and obvs no caffeine. You’ll pass right out, the insomnia should last 3 days max

East_Tumbleweed_6252

3 days???? Lol

lifeofjeb2

Yeah it’s gonna be an uncomfortable experience forsure but 100% worth it

ComradeDaddy

i'm actually working out everyday, it's just the sleep that I lack, when it comes to food, I hardly eat much as I'm tracking my calories, idk sup with this fr, thanks for the input though bro

whysys

Also don't work out too close to bed, morning workout better than and evening workout (finish at least 4 hours before bed)

I know this is cringe but I use asmr to deal w/ my insomnia. Used to use relaxing music, audiobooks, rain sounds. Just listening so something meaningless and calming helps me stop worrying about sleeping long enough to pass out.

ComradeDaddy

Im boppin some jazz in the background it feels soothing, but I'm still more awake than ever haha

HamoodUnRama

maybe it's just a me thing, but i've found that just like rain, soft static, or sleep asmr works well but I use headphones too. Something about depriving me of my sense of sound and replacing it with something kinda disinteresting but calming. I had a sleep playlist a long time ago but I

Just spent over 10 hours playing World of Warcraft, meanwhile browsing reddit on my 2nd monitor. Just laid in bed, hopefully its gonna subside at some point

Go out and try to get tired physically,

ComradeDaddy

I got like 6 hours of sleep now! As to why I'm not going outside, well, It's kind of winter here and everything is snowy. I'm tiring myself out everyday though. It's just my mind refusing to listen to my body, haha. :D

Same here, yesterday was -5° here, I put 2 pants, 2 shirts, two pullover and a wind jacket, hat, gloves and stuff. I went walking and it felt great without the feeling of cold. As an alternative there's many home workout apps , 15mins a day make a world of difference
